Is That Correct?

Is it really 200 Goblins or was that a typo for 20?
The map is showing just over 20 so I was just wanting to clarify.
--------------------------------

If it is a whole tribe it could be 200.

If so then there should 1 Chief with body guards, 1 sub-chief with body guards, 5 leaders with assistants.

Each leader has about 40 followers so I'd think these guys are coming in waves. As cowardly creatures I'd guess the Chief and sub-chief would be at the rear.

------------------------
Also if we slow them pouring out of the room we may need a few area effect spells into the room. 200 are a bunch to kill.

200 Goblins

How long would it take 200 goblins to come out of the room into the hallway? I mean they can't all just pop out the door at once.

Would 200 even fit in the hallway?

LOL

Yes at least 200 maybe more. Also the door is tall enough to allow eight foot tall Orcs to come through and wide enough for two at a time to exit. Now think on how fast 4' tall Goblins can burst out of the room as fast as the little guys are.

hmmm

You didn't exactly answer the questions.

You know I was going to expound upon my questions but figured that you probably didn't want to answer them since you didn't the first time, so I won't waste more time asking again.

@Archangel

I will at least answer your second question sort of.

As for could 200 Goblins fit in the hallway? Well that really depends on the party honestly. If you let them live, then no 200 Goblins cannot fit in the hallway. If you kill most of them then yes 200+ Goblins could then easily fit.

Fire in the hole!

Or maybe cold in the hole...
Those nearby might want to step back a bit, damage and area of effect are doubled for Siréne's spells.
Cone of Cold doesn't bounce back like a lightning bolt, right?

Sic'um.....

Well I've indicated that Ulthok and Valene are moving back so let fly.

Ulthok still has Burning Hands too so we'll see how round 2 goes.

Tann, with the gauntlets does it give Ulthok the strength to use two swords at once proficiently?

More Question Answers :-)

Cone of Cold doesn't bounce back like a lightning bolt, right? No it does not, it just spreads out from the minute it leaves your hand in a cone type fashion.

Tann, with the gauntlets does it give Ulthok the strength to use two swords at once proficiently? Ok strength has nothing to do with two handed fighting. Ulthok, Valene or any of the Fighter types for that matter can use two weapons, one in each hand but unlike a Ranger they get penalties to attack. As for how much of a penalty the weapon sizes determines that. SEE BELOW

Attacking with Two Weapons A tricky fighting style available only to warriors and rogues is that of fighting with two weapons simultaneously. The character chooses not to use a shield in favor of another weapon, granting him a greater number of attacks, with a penalty to his attack rolls (rangers are exempt from the attack roll penalty).

When using a second weapon in his off-hand, a character is limited in his weapon choice. His principal weapon can be whatever he chooses, provided it can be wielded with one hand. The second weapon must be smaller in size and weight than the character's main weapon (though a dagger can always be used as a second weapon, even if the primary weapon is also a dagger). A fighter can use a long sword and a short sword, or a long sword and a dagger, but he cannot use two long swords. Nor can the character use a shield, unless it is kept strapped onto his back.

When attacking, all characters but rangers suffer penalties to their attack rolls. Attacks made with the main weapon suffer a -2 penalty, and attacks made with the second weapon suffer a -4 penalty. The character's Reaction Adjustment (based on his Dexterity, see Table 2) modifies this penalty. A low Dexterity score will worsen the character's chance to hit with each attack. A high Dexterity can negate this particular penalty, although it cannot result in a positive modifier on the attack rolls for either weapon (i.e., the Reaction Adjustment can, at best, raise the attack roll penalties to 0).

The use of two weapons enables the character to make one additional attack each combat round, with the second weapon. The character gains only one additional attack each round, regardless of the number of attacks he may normally be allowed. Thus, a warrior able to attack 3/2 (once in the first round and twice in the second) can attack 5/2 (twice in the first round and three times in the second).

Battle Math?

So it sounds like you said doors, as in two, swung open inward. The opening is wide enough for two giant orcs to emerge side by side. I guess then that's a 10 foot wide opening, two 5 foot doors.

Sirene's cone expands one foot every five feet.
If she was 5 feet from the wall that 25 feet to the doors, that's a 5 foot diameter cone at the door, so Ulthok and Valene are safe.

Sirene is 13th level so the cone continues through the door another 40 feet (65 feet total)reaching 13 foot across at the end. From the map I'd also guess the Gobs 1-8 got past and 11-13 & 16 got past, but the ones in the center for the next 40 feet are Gobcicles.

Wrong on the Door

It is only one large door disregard the other line opposite the door on the map. I put that line there to give a little indication of a room to that side. The entrance to the room is about 15' wide more then enough room for a good number of Goblins to get out fast unless stopped.

Door

So the door is 15' wide and 10' or more high? Can Goblins even open a door that big? . J/K.

Ok, a thought, anyone have any of the 'wall' spells, such as Wall of stone, force, etc.? One if those across the doorway would stop them then we could clean up the few who actually made it in the door.

Walls and Webs......

I was thinking about that too. I might even have Peri cast Web across the door.

Web

Yeah, web would slow them down but I see two problems with that spell. One, it only slows them down, they could burn their way throw; Goblins aren't smart but they know the value of fire and how to use it.

The other thing is that if Peri cast Web, I am sure that would somehow be negated by the Cone of Cold that is already being cast. Our DM loves to show us the error of casting spells that contradict. Remember the Steam incident?

The bad thing is not knowing the order of Initiative when we decide upon our actions. That is the main problem I have with online playing by post; if initiative is known then we can decide what to cast and do when it is our turn. I know that is hard to do in this setting.

Steam..............

But if you remember the result was we cooked and freeze dried that Black Role at the same time. We just couldn't see it was dead, lol.

Yeah, the fire thing on the web was what was slowing that down. I was checking on wall of ice to see if we could catch um and freeze um in one swell foop.
