Not looking good

Ok its Saturday and I have only 1 in-game post so far. If this puzzle is what's stopping player posts lets skip it and we can move the game forward. It could benefit you but in the long run not that much.

Also next question is of course do I still have a game and players to DM? It has been 3 weeks without any other posts then the 2 from me and Aletheia's so I have to ask has Trilogy fizzled?

Let me know if I need to recruit or end.

,

Puzzles work great in tabletop where there is lots of interaction quickly. Questions are answered and ideas flow well. On post games, not so much. I think that is what is causing the lack of posts.

I'm still here!

I am puzzled by the puzzle, so to speak lol.

However, if this is going to hold us up, and also not be terribly important, then I'd be ok with moving on, especially since we have now been "noticed". But I will defer to the majority decision.

That being said, did I get anything from concentrating on the clock-like thing with the spell?

Plans

Sorry, crazy busy. I'll get a post up late tonight.
the games goes on. I think people just don't know what to do.

I will suggest if nobody else does, that we assume a defensive position and play with the clock. But I'd be happy to have someone else smarter than Lothor come up with a plan.

*edit*
I am about to post. Lothor will move up to the clock thing and suggest that someone move the clock. I'd just do it, but it just messing around with a powerful magic item like this would be way out of character for our favorite local warrior. I might name someone specifically, who knows. I'm still ok with some other option if someone has ideas. Also, I think we need to take up defensive positions. Usually this would mean Lothor by one side of the door.

A few more thoughts

Looking back over the threads the movement in time (An assumption considering Tann's comments, but almost a given based on the beholder's thoughts?) is functioning in a weird way. We seem to have gone forward in time. But the water froze more slowly and more thinly then it did in the other room. Why? If we are "not really there" when moving in time, then why doesn't it just freeze solid almost instantly given the extreme cold? Or at least as fast as it did in the room in which we found Talca? But it didn't. Does that mean we remain, at least in part, in the room? What are the implications for that if someone, or something, enters the room while we are in time transit?

Also, we need to find some way to try and identify the amount of time traversed. If we are going to move in time we need a clue. Lothor tossed some biodegradable food around. Any other ideas? Could someone at least create another pool of water from the water bottle so we can compare freezing times?

Finally, do we really want to leave? Where is the archmage? Tann admitted it was odd that he wasn't here. But what would be the good of going back without him? I guess our characters don't know what happened after we "left" but we have read it. Certainly we know he gave us some odd information. Is it enough if only we get back to the future? Assuming that is possible even. Or do we need to stick it out here until we find him again no matter what battles we have to fight? Opinions are needed.

We do have a couple posts about melting and examining the clock again. Everyone else, at the least, should probably make a post about preparing for battle and arranging themselves. And if battle does come, Serene must be protected at all costs because of the cold.

In for Penny.......

Well one last mess with the dial. We'll see what happens. Get ready for the poop to hit the ventilator. Lothor smashed the skull before and now it's Ulthok's turn, so we once more act rashly.

Hang on.

Just as Big Ben goes silent

A question about the functioning of the time clock. 15 minutes = 4 hours, right? Does that mean that we actually experience 15 minutes? So we stood around for 15 minutes staring at the clock? Or that we actually aged 15 minutes, even if we only experienced a few seconds, while actually progressing 4 hours? (All of this is for the first spin of the clock since I don't remember the exact ratio for our last spin, but the concepts should remain the same.)

What I'm not sure about is - would this device be a possible method of time travel over a vast amount of time? As I understand the ratios, for us to travel the hundreds (thousands?) of years we need to go forward in time to return to our era would require us to still go thousands/millions of minutes. How old would we be? Is it even possible to spin the dial that many times?

Telling Time

Before deciding what to do next I, at least, would need to know the answer to the above questions.

But, a few thoughts for us to ponder:
1. If we travelled forward in time, what about the beholders. Supposedly we travelled about a day in the future. We think the beholders were coming. Where are they? Did they show up? Did Sirene see anything that would indicate that they came and left?
2. How far forward did we go? A 3/4 turn would have been 60/12. But we went all the way around. How far is that? I don't have the image in front of me, but is a full turn 16/24? Or what?
3. Are the beholder(s) waiting for us to remerge from time? They didn't attack and I can't believe Tann would neglect to mention that. Lothor was watching the hall. Clearly the beholder knew what the room does since it called the room the "time room." That doesn't mean they would know when we would emerge.
4. We now know how the clock functions. But do we know what to do about it? What is next?

Please don't be silent, even if all you can say is "I don't know." We need ideas and a plan. At the least we need to decide if we progress in this tower. Or do we keep time travelling? What about the arch-mage?

Some Answers

A question about the functioning of the time clock. 15 minutes = 4 hours, right? Does that mean that we actually experience 15 minutes? Yes time for you as the party passes as 15 minutes, but during those 15 minutes you could say cast the spell of Nap and get the 4 hours of sleep you would need to relearn spells instantly. Time in the room also passed as a 15 minute envelope and was the reason the cloak only froze as much as it did.

So we stood around for 15 minutes staring at the clock? Yes, though any 4 hour action, again like the spell of Nap, would be gained instantly.

What I'm not sure about is - would this device be a possible method of time travel over a vast amount of time? No, time still passes as normal you just gain that amount of time on the clock as listed instantly.

Also using the cloak you have stood around only for 30 minutes, but had the ability to have gained 4 hours of time twice for a total of 8 hours. Does this help to understand the clock? I apologize if this puzzle was asinine, I mainly put it in to give you, the party, time to restock spells and such as it would most likely have been the last time to do so during the rest of the dungeon.

That clears things up

Ok, that helps a lot.

So, it seems to me, that we should take Tann's advice and use this place to get spells back as quickly as possible. Some rest, some guard, especially when we are about to emerge from the time shift. Then we keep moving through the dungeon. Time magic is here, but this isn't what we are looking for.

Once again another Sunday

With no posts. ~sigh~ Well unless I get enough player posts to myself post you know what won't happen from me tonight.

If I sound disgruntled, yeah I am, dealing with Harvey over my head and some real life issues, I was hoping for player posts.

So I guess the first step once again is a roll call check of whose in or out of my game. If your tired of Trilogy please just tell me ok, then I can go forward from there. Trilogy will be 13 years old at the end of the week and maybe it's time to say farewell if you the players are no longer in to the game.

Let me know

Onward?

I'm still here and game if you all are. Sunday is usually the day I post.

I'm with Nomad. We should rest and regroup spells. Then head out deep into the dungeon. Are we all in agreement on that? And then from the room continue forward?

Yay, I'm logged in!!

I've been trying to log in for the last three days, and finally made it today (home internet issues). I will post with the findings but my typing is somewhat limited due to wrist issues and wearing a brace.

Cheers!!

And definitely not tired of Trilogy.

I will post in a few minutes. Mages are the most important posters here.
