Looking for thoughts...

Its about time you all got to see me in my wedding dress.

But before you look at the picture I will tell you the terror story of getting it!

One weekend in January, I go into the store and look at dresses, try on several of them. After quite a few dresses I finally find a gorgeous satin dress. Its just about my size, last one in the store like that (lucky me!) I look at the price...

$1500 for the dress.

No big deal since I know people who pay double that for wedding dresses. I don't have the cash on me yet, so mom advises me to wait to get the dress. I have no choice since I don't have the money, so I thank them for their time and help and already decided on my wedding dress. Unfortunately you cannot take pictures of the dress until you purchase it.

A few weeks later, sometime in February we go back to see if the dress is still there (since every week wedding dresses are discontinued, or sold etc). I put my name on the list to find the dress again. I look everyone for it, and cannot find it in the spot I saw it the last time I was there. I start getting worried that they sold it, and then my mom (the smart cookie she is) says to look in the clearance section. So all three of us (the attendant, my mom and myself) all look in the clearance section size 10 dresses. We found it in the clearance section, meaning it was discontinued. I was suddenly super excited because the price was reduce on the price tag.

It was reduced, not to $100, not to $800, but it was reduced to $699!! I was basically jumping for joy at that point. I tried it on again, and put money down on the dress because it was now a higher risk of being sold and not being able to get the dress of my dreams. I pay over half of it that day, and told them I would be back in a week to pay off the remaining balance.

A VERY VERY long week finally goes by and we go back to the store to pick up the dress and finish paying it off. I tell the person at the desk I am here to pick up my dress and he says to give him a moment he would have somebody bring out my dress. So I go sit down, people who came in after me to pick up their dresses left. After an hour of patiently waiting for my dress to come out, they are still telling me they haven't yet found my dress and to be patient. By this point I am so upset that I make a HUGE scene in the middle of the store. I scream at the guy who was telling me to be patient and trying to blame me for not bringing in my side of the contract, when HIS employees didn't tell me I had to bring it in if they were holding it for just a week. I yelled at him to the point I was crying, shaking like a rattle snake tail. After my big scene everyone was trying to help find my dress. They sat me down in the back and gave me water, and told me my dress wasn't lost, that it was just misplaced.

After my big scene they found my dress within like 10 mins. I tried it on again to make sure it still fit good-ish and then went to pay for the rest of it. I had brought my veil, tiara and bracelet to try the dress on with. Took a picture of me in the dress that day after the big scene and such...which is why I look ready to kill somebody in the picture, and so red faced.

There story is over, you can look at my awesomeness now.

Lovely dress...

...as I said earlier, Flirty. And, after hearing the story, I can understand why no smile in the pic.

Hooked your post up with a link, too.

*hugs* You're gonna be a BEEEE-U-tiful bride.

aww

It looks awesome Flirty. Nice to finally see a face behind your musings, even though that is a very upset face.

I'm glad you got it all worked out!

qwerty

In the words of the ancient Knight in "Last Crusade," You have chosen. . .wisely !

I'm so sorry their misplacing of your dress put you through so much grief. I would think they'd be better organized if only for the selfish reason to not have such righteous indignation thrust into their faces (as apparently good customer service has gone the way of the dinosaur).

May the rest of your planning and preparation go more smoothly!
