Topic: The Adventurer's Guild - 4e D&D
Subject: Another quitter...

Sorry I'm also going to have to drop out of this of this game. Got too much on my plate right now to start something new.

Cool, how about a Dragonborn Sorcerer?

Or are there any restrictions on races/classes? Also my rough build includes a feat from Dragon 365. Would that also be allowed?

What kinda of posting frequency are you looking at? I'm already playing and DMing in a few, well quite a few, 4e games but am always interested in playing more. Already have a few games with pretty tight posting requirements but if you were pretty flexible about posting requirements, ie as infrequent as one post every other day or faster if time permits, I'd be interested.

Subject: An Arrow for the Animal

Nuar lifts his bow as Karn's first shot hits the animal in the hand, and has an arrow drawn by the time his next shots ring out, but he doesn't release straight away. Instead he concentrates gathering his will into him, his preference is to make each shot count and if this thing didn't fall from Karn's repeated shots then this arrow had better count.

"Bad choice creature" he started then glanced at the other creature wondering if he should instead take it out, but no he thought, it hadn't actually attacked yet. But as soon as it moved towards them it was a valid target and then he would change his focus to it.

"Your decision is if there will be two bodies to clean up or one." he said to 'Hector' and his decision made he turned back to the first and released his arrow with all his will pushing it as hard and as straight as he could.

Subject: Unhand her!

Some days Nuar really doesn't like being short, oh what he would give for another couple of feet so he could walk up to the creature and talk the thing down face to face, but when you only come up to their stomach it just doesn't have the same effect.

So Nuar stands up holding his bow loosely in his left hand and points with at the dog man holding Clementine with the arrow he holds in his right hand, "Unhand her creature, if there is to be any cleaning it's your blood that will need to be mopped up. She has already made it clear you are not welcome and unless you want to die with a parched throat I suggest you find a drink elsewhere."

He eyes the creatures teeth and their proximity to Clementine and wonders if an eye or heart shot would be the safest way to take this creature down if it went for her throat, then decides his Eye because whilst being short had plenty of disadvantages there were still some advantages and Clementine's height would work in her favor if it came to that.

Topic: Despair Q&A
Subject: Mindhands

Table throwing looks pretty easy, with his dex added to Mindarts Nuar has already achieved the target of 9. Of course that's not really his style if he can achieve his goals with a little less furniture destruction.

In the rules it talks about adding mindhands strength to his own, can that also be taken that he can use his mindhands to improve his bow accuracy or damage?
(Edit: Looks like damage for bow is based on strength so looks like I've just answered by own question there, still not sure about accuracy but that can sort that out later)

Does he have much chance of being able to disarm, or at least disrupt the aim of the two things if they went for their guns?

Sorry for the continued questions, would have though I could work it out from the rulebook but seems I am having a hard time getting the necessary focus to make sense of it.

Thanks,
Cynan

Subject: System Related Questions

I'm rather unsure how Nuar's abilities can help him and what exactly he is capable of. I see a few options that would present himself but it would depend on how confident he could pull them off before he would commit to a plan of action.

How big a chance would he have to use his powers to disarm or prevent them from firing ie by grabbing a gun/the guns away or slaming the two of them with a table. If he has a fair chance of this working this would be his first choice.

If he could only distract whilst still be able to attack in case of a battle then he'd fall back on this. But if even that would mean he's unlikely to contribute then he would just go for his bow in which case can he use his powers to improve his accuracy or damage with the bow?

The way I see it is that Nuar would use his powers to help but only if he was reasonably confident that they would help and as a player I'm less familiar with his powers than he would be

Subject: Looks like trouble

Nuar was avidly listening to Clementine and nodding as she talked about the Scott brothers. His expression still showing his surprise at the situation and also a hint of the distaste he felt about the whole situation.

When Clementine broke off the conversation and he saw the reason why, Nuar twists his seat around somewhat so he can better see down the road whilst on the side now hidden from view he slowly restrings his bow. Nuar almost never leaves the bow behind since it's generally his only fail safe way of finding food but he had unstrung it after he had dropped his others belongings in the room to give the wood a rest.

He looks around to see how the other patrons at the Inn are reacting to the approach of the two figures.

Subject: Out of his Depth

Nuar has a slightly shocked expression on his face and has looked between Karn Tar and the Dwarf watching and listening closely to this exchange. Even though the Ranger might have mentioned something about water being valuable on the way here he never thought it would be like this.

His valley has a strong fresh glacial stream running through it and water was as free as the air. He thought about his water flask, half fill and carelessly so since he hadn't bothered to top it fully up at the last clean water.

"Ah, two glasses or four ounces you say, I hope you don't mind if we take a moment to check our resources" he says motioning the others to take a couple of steps back

"That'd be all my water an a bit more I guess, I didn't think it would be like this, if we pay how do we get more? I'm concerned but willing to put my share in if everyone agrees that this is the right thing to do. I'm truly out of my depth here." he says a tad weakly.

(OOC - In case I wasn't clear the last paragragh regarding the water was only to the party once Nuar and the others had moved out of her hearing range. He's not quite so naive as to admit what he or doesn't have in front of the Dwarf )

Topic: Despair Q&A
Subject: Money and all things shiny

Humm maybe this be a good time to sort out what Nuar has in the way of valuables. Apart from the skins, and wooden stuff I can make I only wrote on my character sheet "Some coin or equivalent (not much)". Does this translate into gold nuggets or some such? Does Nuar have any sort of idea about the worth of gold here or back in the East that he can use as a price comparison ?

Subject: A room for the night

Nuar, rises his eyebrows slightly to his companions but doesn't say anything as he turns back to the dwarf and politely smiling says, "Thank you for your kind welcome, we will happily come up for a drink but first we should see about some rooms and a stable and feed for the horses."

Unless anyone objects he’ll ask for two rooms next to each other if that’s available, Nuar can do the bargaining but will happily defer to Karn Tar’s whose local knowledge might give him an advantage in making sure they get a fair price.

Once the bags and horses have been seen to let’s get a table on the patio. Nuar would like to make light conversation with either the female dwarf or one of the locals. First to find out what the conditions further along the way are likely to be but he'd also like to gently ask about the town itself, if there is anything travelers should be aware of, and what is that compound on the way in.

Topic: Despair Q&A
Subject: Nuar the Halfling Hunter

Nuar makes for a very easy travelling companion, he's not very outspoken but is invariably polite and friendly. He smiles a fair bit more now than when you first met him but he's never laughed that you have seen.

He is above average in looks, seems quite fit and healthy and of fair intelligence, he has the nimbleness inherent in most halflings and seems quite at home in the woods hunting and foraging for food for the party though when you met him he wasn't that happy about the woods, or in particular the wildlife. He was stuck up a tree surrounded by a pair of wolves that had been drawn by the scent of the large deer he had felled with his bow. All his gear and the partially worked deer carcass was laying beside his firepit quite some distance away with another couple of wolves. He was most appreciative of your assistance and decided that maybe being alone in the wilderness wasn't the safest way to get around and happily threw in his lot with the group.

He dresses the part of a hunter in leathers and skins though his chest is covered by a hardened leather vest that once served as his carpenters apron before he was forced out of his village. He wears a quite decent quality green woolen cloak over his otherwise fairly plain attire, you take this to be a gift from somewhere as he treasures it above everything else he has with him but has been reluctant to talk about it.

What little you know of his history is that his village is fairly isolationist in outlook and that technology and magic is very much frowned upon and that Nuar did something, not criminal as he has assured you more than once, but that was still very much against their beliefs. You imagine it has something to do with the fact that occasionally when relaxed and at ease he will sometimes make small objects dance lightly through the air to the beat of his fingers, he'll usually look fairly guilty if he notices people watching him and will often stop with a wry half smile.

In his spare time he often spends his time carving small items from wood, though he shows more aptitude for those of a more utilitarian than artistic style. You have worked out that he is a fair tracker and hunter with his bow, is able to forage and set snares for smaller game and knows his way around wood and his wood axe.

At the last trading post he spent some time trading some animal skins, some arrow shafts he crafted along with some of his wooden whistles and toys for some new arrow heads, bow strings and food supplies and wine.

OOC: Hiya all, looking forward to this, Cheers - Cyco
