Subject: I want...

Ma to watch the boys building the bombs (we need a couple for each camera site if possible, and a couple for near the ship). Nothing says "do it right" like Ma and her shotgun.

Yes. Wyatt has Matherson's case with him. Sorry I didn't post it. Oversight.

Hood needs to take the people to the caves, but I've no problem with Sifu joining them with a comm. Though I want to make sure that it isn't traceable. So, if any one of the crew feels that it is a security risk, then no. No comm. Definitely make sure that Ma's soup goes with them.

In the sake of not complicating any post Roger is putting together, Wyatt will accept Jessy's offer for help. Someone who has the inclinations and skills to manage a con job on the liner is someone with skills Wyatt figures they could use right about now. As for where she can help...she's good at cons, so maybe she can go with Ash to set up the scenes for the other cases.

Did I leave anything out?

“Captain,” Jessy began, then paused as if she changed her mind on what to say, “I want to apologize for the trouble I have caused you and your crew. It was never my intention to cause any harm. I just… well bad luck seems to follow me around most of the time.” She took a heavy breath and let it out before she continued, “The case, with the Violin is in your lounge next to your kitchen, behind the sofa.” she said seeming to have to force the words from her mouth as if giving it up was the hardest thing she had ever had to do.

“Now,” she went on with a wan smile, “I would like to help, if you need it, but if you don’t trust me and would prefer me to stay here, I will abide by your wishes and not cause any more trouble.”

Wyatt considered what she had to say. He really didn’t have much reason to trust her, but at the same time they weren’t exactly outnumbering the mercenaries. And, though he’d definitely rather have her under lock and key considering the trouble she’d brought with her, he couldn’t blame someone for looking out for themself--at the same time, he didn’t condone the concept of everyone else be damned in the process. Still...there was that overwhelming need for more people working against the threat they faced. What was it Eden used t’ say? he wondered. Oh, tha’s right. More hands mean quicker the work. He could practically hear his wife’s cheerful voice admonishing him of this when he refused to hire on hands at their ranch some years back.

“Miss,” Sung refocused his attention on the woman seated before him. “I’ll be honest. We ain’t in the best o’ situations, an’ I’ll be happy fer all the help I can git. How is it you figure you can provide assistance?”

Wyatt’s com crackled to life emitting John’s cautious and impatient voice, "So I've found a suitable turbine. It's gonna take two, possibly three men to remove it and bring it down; so I need you, Wolf, and possible Asher to get back up here as soon as possible. Also, Captain Wyatt, I have some information I'd like to share with you and the rest of the crew that I feel is too sensitive to tell over the comms in case that we are being listened to. So whenever it's possible, I'd like to talk to you face to face."

Captain Sung frowned at the timing and the necessity for additional bodies at the facility. Activating the com, he answered flatly, “I’ll be there shortly with some help. Any way t’ hook somethin’ up t’ the shuttle an’ airlift that thing out so we don’ have t’ carry it?”

“No,” Wolf answered. “No explosives and I can fix an engine but I have no clue as to mixing fertilizer to go bang Captain. I’m a mechanic Captain, not a bloody bomb maker.” Smiling at Wyatt as if privy to a private joke.

“Well then, you gotta figure out how, Wolf. We don’ ‘ave much time.” Wyatt turned to walk away, and then had a thought that prompted him to call out over his shoulder, “Why not see if’n them boys that were so eager t’ see you at work earlier can help with the explosives? I hear tell they are filled with all sorts of smarts.”

Having finished his conversation with Jessy, Wyatt made his way to the finely dressed man who had put him to the ground with whatever fancy device he had built into that walking stick of his. Opening the door, Sung entered the room with his hand close to his Colt, but not so much that he was threatening.

“Good mornin’ to you,” he offered up by way of a cheerful greeting. “We’ve no’ had the opportunity t’ really get introduced properly. I’m Captain Wyatt Sung, an’ this here boat--this here crew--well, they’re my responsibility. Imagine my displeasure when we’re actin’ on all sorts of good faith rescuing kind folk such as yerself, and then there’s all this fuss over these little cases that brings a boatload of hurt on me an’ mine. Not t’ mention all the other fine and fancy folk we picked off that liner.

“I don’ normally poke my nose in others business, but seein’ how this situation is about as Soh Ya Feh Tian, as it can be, I figured I need t’ know as much as possible. So, I’m askin’ you in the most polite o’ fashions t’ be cooperative.

“What’s in your case?”

“Wolf,” Wyatt called out as he took the stairs down into the bay three at a time, using the rails to help propel him along. “Let’s get a move on. Where’s Ash?” Locating the young gunfighter, Wyatt removed the case he’d retrieved from behind the couch from underneath his arm and tossed it to Asher. “There’s yer prop.”

Sliding into the passenger seat of the mule, Wyatt set his shotgun in his lap and settled his hat more firmly on his head. “Let’s go. We’ve not got all day. Guhn Kwai.”

Subject: The Con is Over.

So, I'm tired...dog tired. I'm through with 2013's Salt Lake City Comic Con. I only attended one afternoon, but it was sold out, crowded, and made me really tired. I did, however, get to talk with Tracy Hickman (who was wearing a Serenity t-shirt) and gave him my business card. He said he's working on a kickstarter and needs some artists, so he was glad to receive my information. It helps that he's a good friend of my mother as well. I also dropped my card with a number of additional authors, so I may be picking up some more art contracts. All-in-all it was a lot of fun, and very productive for me.

So, mixing chemicals...wouldn't the onboard database have information available concerning mixtures, and the like? After all, I can find it on the Internet, and the onboard DB is supposed to be pretty comprehensive. Barring that, maybe one of the people like Havelock or Hood can help. Either way, we've got to figure out as it is an instrumental part of the plan. Blow up the extra troops that go to our decoy locations, and eliminate the opposition.

Subject: Plan

I posted. To reiterate, the plan is to divide and conquer. We take pictures of the case in three separate locations, gussied up to appear to be guarded. We use explosives that we have, or that we make from the contents of our cargo, to rig those locations to go boom, hopefully eliminating mercenaries in the process. The actual cases (all of them if we can arrange that) will remain at the ship where we'll be sure to have the crew as heavily armed and well-positioned as possible to deal with any attack. John and Wolf are still charged with doing the impossible (I'll use Leadership to help with that), and I'm allowing for the rest of you to provide input and refine the plan as your characters would see fit.

I briefly discussed this with Roger, so we do have the cameras, and as far as I know nothing I've suggested is impossible. I figure that this is our best chance for survival, and I am planning on speaking with the fine gentleman that knocked Wyatt unconscious to see what kind of leverage he can provide us with. He just seems too together to not have something we can use.

I also want to know what's in the cases for certain. So, I'll be making that play in a bit.

Anyway, there you have it. Let the good times roll.

Lord Hood looked at Captain Wyatt with some confusion clear upon his face. "Caves? What caves? Surely the ship or the Processor building would work best? And you don't mean to actually fight these men do you? If they are half as bad as your young crew member suggests, maybe we should just give them the violin and let them go? Captain Havelock needs medical attention. many of these people...most of them have never been in danger in their lives. I admit you know more than I on fighting and tactics but I'm not sure that I can keep all these people safe."

Wyatt stepped up a little closer to Lord Hood. He was still kicking off the effects of the blue blast, and he wasn't altogether sure he had completely rid himself of whatever drug that was the little hussy had used on him. So, he focused on each movement drawing the iron from his veins to maintain the appearance of complete control.

"We know who these fellows are, Lord Hood," Wyatt explained quietly. "Handing over the violin won't secure our lives. Fact is, these very bad men were willing to blow up the cruise liner to get it. In order to keep these very fine folk alive we've got to put them someplace where the mercenaries would never expect them to be.

"Our only chance of getting out of this is to fight. But what we've got is that old instrument, and an entire moon. Please trust me when I say tha' we're gonna do all tha' we can t' protect these people. Your help in gettin' them t' the caves an' keepin' them out of sight will go a long ways towards this end. We're doin' the best we can with Captain Havelock. Can I count on you, sir?"

(OOC: Will play out Hood's answer.)

Sung made his way inside Roc with an even stride that came a bit easier with every step. He was beginning to feel more like himself the closer he came to the bay, and that was encouraging. At least, as much as it could be considering the situation they were in.

“Cap’n," Wolf caught up with him just before the gangplank. "I was thinking it might be faster to bring the Roc to the parts then hauling them back here to her. If we use both shuttles to lift her and the mule and the vast manpower here to move her we could do it. While I gather the parts I need to get her Black worthy again you, Tess and John bring her here. On top of that if we get her and all the passengers there we only present one target rather then two and in that one target somewhere is this violin they want so bad so they will hopefully not shoot at it from the Black. With two targets they may do a 50-50 and destroy one as a message to hand it over and right now we need both.”

"You an' I were thinkin' along the same lines for the most part, Wolf." Wyatt stopped and looked up towards the pale sky. "We ain't movin' Roc though. We're gonna move the violin. We're gonna give them too many targets t' allow them t' consolidate their forces. We've got cameras we can take from Roc to get pictures o' the case in at least three locations. Get the cameras, an' one o' the cases. I don't much care which one, though if you can keep those that are obviously a bit more connected happy in the process, I'd appreciate it. You an' John are still performin' tha' miracle for me, but in gettin' you back there to help John, the Kid an' I will be joinin' you to take a few snapshots o' the case at the facility. Then, we'll take some more at another location, and more again at Roc. We'll broadcast wide from Roc these pictures so tha' the mercs'll pick them up along with a message tha' draws 'em in.

"You got any explosives? If not, we've a cargo bay full o' the makin's fer some."

(OOC: I seem to remember he does...)

"We'll pick out a shiny little hole at the facility that'll appear a good place t' defend. Only, we won't be there. Rig the place t' blow so any o' those merc types get sent there we don' have t' deal with here." Wyatt looked Wolf in the eye. "Any concerns, 'r questions?"

(OOC: Will address anything that comes up.)

Stepping inside Roc's belly, Sung caught up with Asher and Trish where he once again relayed his plan to divide and conquer. He tasked Asher with figuring out a good location to take some shots in the hills away from the caves, someplace they could get to in a reasonable amount of time, but which would require the mercenaries sent to that location some delay in reinforcing those sent to siege Roc. Trish would need to help secure the ship as much as possible, as Wyatt didn't want any more damage happening to Roc than need be. Wyatt quickly found Tess and asked her to keep a close eye on the sky, radar, all sensory equipment. It was vital that they weren't caught unawares. Then, he made his way to the room containing the "courier" who had previously been in possession of one of the cases.

"Miss," Sung removed his hat as he stepped inside the room, closing the door behind him without turning his back on the young woman. "I'm no' one t' beat about the issue, so here's how I see things: You are in possession of, or the knowledge of, one of these cases that has been causin' me an' my crew a whole lot o' issues. I've got a mess o' fine an' mighties t' deal with an' t' be frank, I don' have much patience left. I am askin' nice for you t' hand over the case, an' I don't much care whether it is truly yours 'r not at this point in time. Should we survive what's comin' I'll be happy t' help sort out ownership. But 'till then..."

The results of Wyatt’s spent shells wasn’t as impressive as he’d hoped, but it was a start, and it did get Hood on his feet and backing Sung’s play.

“My friends,” Lord Hood exclaimed. “We must listen to Captain Wyatt. He has gotten us through so far, we must be ready to do as he says to survive.”

As the crowd quieted Ash started in with an explanation of his findings that didn’t sit well with the captian, “That fits…. These Mercenary guys are the Heilong Commandos. They was in my Big Guns and Bigguns mag….. It said they started out square enough when the Browncoats took them into service, but they went bad quick. They was hunted down by the Purplebellies right quick and no one was the sorrier fer it. That was until that Black Bart Chung raised them from the dead 'bout three years back though. He took up right were the first group left off, but didn't even pretend to be square. They was killers then, and they is killers now. Theys 'bout as wanted as any group o' folk can be, but you know the Feds, can't find their own pi gu with both hands and a mirror. So how do ya'll 'spect them to find a set of killer what don't want to be found? It said if’n ya ever hear the Heilong is comin' ya way, you’s best find a way to git yerself gone or they'll spill your blood just fer breathin'. It even said that they gives the Reavers a bad name……………If’n we only gots three hours … we best get a wiggle on. "

Matherson cleared his throat on the coattails of the young gunman’s explanation, “Well these men seem to be looking for a fiddle of some value to be going through all this trouble and I can guarantee you it is not in that case.” He pointed to the musician holding the silver case. “Captain, My men and myself will offer whatever aid you wish, but I demand my case be returned to me, and you better talk to this pretty lady about where the other case is.” He said moving his finger to Beatrix Kiddo (Jessie).

The musician fumbled with the case until frustration took over, “This is not the case. I need my case back! It holds a Stradivarius! It is a violin from a supreme craftsman from Earth-that-was. There are only two in existence. It is so valuable that people would have killed for it back on Earth, making it worth, “ Justin looks around at everyone staring at him and the bodies at your feet, “More than all our lives together. By Buddha, they are after the Stradivarius and I don't know where it is now!"

As everyone turned to gawk at the young woman with whom Wyatt had conversed briefly with before the whole thing blew up, Captain Sung turned to look out towards the hills a thoughtful look in his steely blue eyes.

“What?” Beatrix declared innocently when people looked at her, “Don’t look at me; Do you see a violin?” She lifted her hands to show that she didn’t even have a case. “How do we know it isn’t in that case after all?” she said, then turned to Matherson, “You seem awfully concerned with that case and getting it back. How do we know your aren’t involved in this conspiracy?”

The woman playing Beatrix made sure her voice was loud enough to carry to the panicky passengers around them who no doubt were wondering about something that people were willing to kill an entire ship full of rich passengers to get. But Wyatt’s thoughts were elsewhere. He scanned the distant hills where scans had shown caves upon first arriving on the moon. Then his eyes flicked over towards the buildings John was still at.

“Think about it people,” Beatrix said to the assembled people, crew and passengers alike, “that Merc ship got here awfully fast, it had to have been in the area. Hell it could have been what caused the ship’s distress. Of course, attack the ship and cause an evacuation knowing that the crew would try and get the musicians off the ship with the violin.

"I think I read, in a brochure or something back on ship, that the Violin was on loan for this special Cruise performance. I bet the owner of such a priceless artifact would have loads of insurance on it. What better way to collect the insurance and ensure the return of his precious violin than to send a ship of Mercs to hijack it en route, then destroy the ship and all survivors once the violin was recovered?"

When the woman paused for a moment Wyatt turned to look at the ship, and then back towards the hills, before she continued, “I say we open that case, if you can Sir, and show everyone here if it is the thing putting their lives in danger.”

The idea fully formulated in his brainpan, Wyatt turned back to the woman and motioned her inside Roc with a wave of his shotgun. “You there. We’re gonna have a talk in a bit, an’ we’ll get to the bottom of this whole case luh suh in due time, that I promise. You sir,” Sung turned his attention to Mr. Matheson. “An’ yer men, might come in handy here in a bit, but as with the young miss here, there appears to be somethin’ of an interestin’ connection between y’all an’ that which has brought such distress t’ me an’ mine. So, if’n ya want t’ be helpful, you’ll take up temporary quarters inside my ship an’ be ready t’ converse when the time comes. An’ you, musician, you’ll be doin’ the same. Asher, see to it they’re all comfortable in different quarters fer the time being.

“Lord Hood,” Wyatt turned to the gentleman who was being so helpful. “I’d take it kindly if’n you could help see t’ Havelock. He’s a brave man an’ he’ll not be dyin’ today. Once yer done helpin’ make sure he’s comfortable, I’d appreciate one more act of kindness.

“Them mercs are like t’ come back, an’ I don’ want none of these here kind, good folk, under fire like they was last time. There’s some caves a ways off that direction. I’m askin’ you t’ lead these good people there, an’ keep them safe ‘til we send word that it’s safe t’ come back.” Turning to the crowd of people Wyatt called out loudly, “Now, I know it ain’t somethin’ comfortable that I’m askin’ y’all t’ do, but it is the safest thing. Once I’m done speakin’ with this fine fella here, I’ll be askin’ him and his men to take their guns along with Lord Hood here t’ offer y’all what protection can be had.”

Turning away from the group, Wyatt met Ma’s eyes briefly. One of the stable aspects of his life, when she looked pointedly at the silver case that the musician held, he paid attention. She wanted to know what was in that case, and Sung felt the same way. They had precious time to put his plan into play, but whatever lay inside the cases that these mercs were killing for could possibly come into play. He had to know what it was, and he was done playing.

“Wolf!” Wyatt called out loudly. “John’s waitin’ on ya, an’ Time isn’t a friend o’ ours right now. I want those parts back t’ Roc sooner rather than later. I’m expectin’ a miracle. Make sure you pass that on t’ John when ya see ‘im next.

“All righ’, Havelock needs t’ be moved to the infirmary, so let’s be ‘bout it.”

“Easy, it is over… for now.”

Wyatt blinked away the confusion and swallowed the sick feeling that clung to his insides like moss to the north side of a tree. His arms and legs felt like they were encased in gelatin making them difficult to move, and the fog that surrounded his brain wasn't clearing fast enough for his taste. Slowly twisting to the side, the captain wobbled on his elbow for a moment as he tried to push the metallic taste of electricity from his mouth with his tongue.

"You think you won? You bought yourself three hours, maybe four at most. Wilson will bring the others, no escape for you hun dan meddlers, fiddle will be ours soon enough. Mark my words, the Boss is in too deep to let this go, he’ll kill all of you to get that treasure.”

Groaning a bit, Wyatt Sung pushes himself to his hands and knees, and then just his knees. Finding his Colt, the captain struggles further to his feet where he sways a bit before blinking back the dizziness. Once he's stable on his feet, Sung bends slowly again and retrieves his hat; placing it on his head low over his brow.

Dillan laughed hysterically, "The Heilong are coming! You'll wish for reavers! You hear me! You'll wish for reavers!!"

Giving the young lady he'd had a brief conversation with before all hell broke loose, Wyatt carefully strided over to where the poser of a marshall was apparently off his rocker. Crouching gingerly in front of the man, Wyatt Sung drew his Colt and placed the barrel just between the man's eyebrows. The sound of the weapon readying itself accented the steely expression on the captain's face.

"You brought Tian Fuhn Di Fu t' me an' mine, Dillon," Sung said in a dangerous and low tone. "I'm gonna open your brainpan and dispose of wha's inside like it was spoiled foodstuffs in about three seconds. You got that long, you Cheong Bao Ho Tze Wong ba Duhn, t' make me think twice.

"One...two..."

As Dillon laughs he suddenly stops as his head spasms unnaturally, his eye explode out of the sockets and blood spews out of his nose and mouth as he too falls dead before you.

This proves to be too much strain for the passengers of the cruise line and blind panic takes hold. Some run to Rocinante's Hold, while others just run without rhyme or reason and many are just crying about dying on this rock and no hope for survival.

(OOC: This obviously makes some assumptions.)

Wyatt felt that his reaction to the exploding head was quiet acceptable. With the ichor from the interior of Dillon's cranium dripping from the brim of his hat, running down his cheeks, and dangling from his goatee, Captain Sung clenched his jaw, and slowly wiped his face in a downward motion before slinging the goo to the dirt. He felt nauseous. Very, very nauseous. Breathing in deeping through his nose, he rose to his feet and righted himself inside. He had to swallow the bile back and fight off the dizziness that still remained from whatever that was that knocked him out.

"That went well," he muttered as he turned to survey the panicked crowd. "How Wrin Bu Lai, Whai Wrin Bu Jwo (Things never go smooth)."

Finding his shotgun lying nearby, Wyatt walked over and picked it up. Turning to the freaked out mass, he pointed the shotgun up and at a slight angle before pulling the trigger resulting in a powerful boom.

"Go Hwong Tong (Enough of this nonsense)!" Firing another shell into the air, the captain looked about and declared in his most authoritative voice, "Calm down and gather about. Now."

“On the ship! No. No way! I ain’t buying it fancy pants.” He growled at Justin who was still standing there. “On the ship now! Or I kill you and take the case dohn ma?”

The musician stepped towards the ship as compliant as a well-trained dog, and for a moment Wyatt felt that things might end without a lot of lead flying. Unfortunately, that wasn’t in the cards. Three by three; good fortune and bad...a piece of the gorram earth, flung by a (OOC: Crazy dog in love with its own feces) Ai Chr jze Se Duh Fohn Diang Gho, struck the marshall on the head and the captain’s hope for a somewhat peaceful resolution that would have allowed him time to plan Willow’s rescue was shattered.

“GORRAM HELL!” Marshall Dillon reeled in pain and brought his machine pistol to bear blindly on the crowd and Wyatt. “Scrag them. Property damage! NOW!”

Wyatt had no idea that behind him, Matherson had set his henchmen into action. His focus was on the problem before him, and that the troublesome Ms. Portia was presenting a bit of a problem in dealing with the marshall and his men being persistent in retaining her position between them and the captain.

The crowd was in chaos almost instantly. It was as though someone had held up a sign that read “scream, run, push, or just stand there like a (OOC: fool) Sa Gwa.” Yet, as bouncy as they all were, Wyatt kept focused on the man before him. He didn’t like killing a lawman, but something about being a crooked, bought lawman gave the captain an excuse. He had his shotgun in hand, but didn’t want to risk Portia as collateral from the spread, so that was dropped, quickly and fluidly as he skinned his Colt and drew down on the Marshall. Body armor was bound to be a problem, so Wyatt was aiming for the head...the head of the man, the head of the snake.

On either side of the marshall the Alliance soldiers were taking action, but Wyatt’s focus was to put a slug in Dillon’s brainpan, so he barely pays attention as the first guard dropped prone to open fire on the crowd. The other attempted to push Willow on the ground so he could fire over her and hold her down with his booted foot.

Squeezing the trigger, Wyatt hopes to end another man’s life for the sake of those that are under his protection.

So, I've tried to put some thought into the actions. Unfortunately, chaos is chaos and fun will be fun. Giddy is out of town until Sunday, so he won't be able to post until then. I hope that isn't a problem.

Cathy's post (50-hours a week!!! Ouch!) made me have to post for Wyatt again.

Having heard Willow's offer, Wyatt's blood froze nearly as solid as the ice on the dark side of a moon. His head jerked as he tossed a very telling look at his medic and friend.

"Ai Yah Tien Ah," (merciless hell) Wyatt exclaimed before turning back to the marshal. "Willow's Lai Huh Moh Sheong Tze Tian Uh Zoh (desires above one's social position). You wanna make certain you got no trouble from the crew, you take me. I may not be as pretty, but I can pull off the wearing of a fine hat, and I guarantee I won't talk as much."

There was injured on board could use Willow's attention, and Wyatt would be damned if he allowed his friend to walk into such a situation as that.

I wouldn't count on Connor to play. He has shown about as much interest in this as he has shown in anything that requires he remove his nose from a book. Which is to say, very little at best. Sorry about that.
