Topic: Dungeon of the Unhallow Q&A
Subject: Planar Information and Notable Places

Dungeon of the Unhallow
The Dungeon is a vast area that mostly serves as a prison for both the wicket and the pure. It is nearly an endless labirynth with very few features. Stairs allow travels between the Dungeon's many levels and stationary portals allow a quick travel nearly anywhere on the plane. Escaping the plane is very difficult and teleportation from it is greatly hindered (but not into it).
A recent earthquake has turned many of the prisoners into commonly sighted inhabitants.

Dungeon of the Unhallow's Traits
The Dungeon has the following traits:
*Alterable Morphic: You can affect this plane normally.
*Finite Size: Although increadibly vast, the Dungeon of the Unhallow has boundries.
*Neutral-Aligned: Just like the Material Plane, characters or creatures suffer no ill effect on this plane regardless of alignment.
*Impeded Magic: Any spell or spell-like ability that involves moving a character or creature from one place to another is more difficult to cast. This includes the Blink spell and the equivilant.

Dungeon of the Unhallow's Links
There are no known portals leading to or from the Dungeon, although some of the very few stories about the plane suggest that such portals do exist.

Dungeon of the Unhallow's Inhabitants
Any creature of any alignment and size can be found in the Dungeon of the Unhallow. Even divine beings are known to have been stuck in a cell or two at random places of the Dungeon.

Dungeon of the Unhallow's Features
So far, the Dungeon of the Unhallow's features are obscure and unknown. As you explore the vast prison, notable features will be added here.

From Unearthed Arcana (page number):
Enviromental Racial Variants (5)
Elemental Racial Variants (15)
Variant Character Classes (47)
Spontaneous Metamagic (151); Daily Uses
Item Familiar (170)

From Dragon Compendium, vol 1 (page number):
Arcane Alterations: Templates for Spells (144)
The Glyphs of Cerilon (147)
Good Hits and Bad Misses: Alternate Critical Hits and Fumble Rules (232)

If you do not have the above mentioned books, you can PM me and ask for details. Most of these only add options for the players anyway and only the Spontaneous Metamagic and Good Hits and Bad Misses rules are in constant effect.

Other houserules not found in books:
Activity XP - You will get XP just for being active in the game. Each time I update, those who have posted at least once will get experience points equal to their current level x10 (so 80 for starters). This is in addition to any other XP you might get, and this is not for every time you post but for every week you are active.
Roleplay XP - Of course, since this is a roleplaying game, you'll get XP for good roleplay. This bonus is entirely based on my own views on what counts as good roleplay.
Other bonus XP - I allow myself you award you with bonus XP for anything I think deserves such reward.

Topic: Dungeon of the Unhallow Q&A
Subject: Dungeon of the Unhallow Q&A

Welcome to this unholy dungeon, my little kittens. How you got here is entirely up to you, although the most common ways are as follows:

1. Dying in the Dungeon of the Unhallow gets you sent right back to a random cell, usually one on the same level as you died on. This means that if a character dies in the game, he gets resurrected instantly at a random place in the dungeon and can return later on.
2. Openly worshipping an evil deity will often get you sent to the Dungeon. This usually involves selling your soul or getting punished by a good deity.
3. Angering an evil deity will often get you sent to this place. It has proven to be a good prison so far and has held many creatures there for millenia (usually because of the resurrection factor).

You are free to think of another way but these are the most common.

This is the Q&A thread for a game centered on the Dungeon of the Unhallow, a single plane that is occupied by a vast prison. The creation of the Dungeon is shrouded in mystery and secrecy, and it is unlikely that anyone knows the truth except for the deities themselves.

What is known is that escape is nigh impossible. There exist only few stories about this plane simply because nearly no one has returned to speak of it. What little is known about it is that only the greatest of heroes can escape it, and even they need to be extremely lucky in addition to their skills.

You have been imprisoned in the Dungeon for a long time, some for weeks, others for years. You may have dreams of escaping, or you may have lost hope. But a powerful earthquake rekindled your hope for escape as your cells were shattered open. Now you just need to find the way out of this place.

This thread will include:
2 Houserules (including material from Unearthed Arcana)
3 Planar Information and Notable Places
4 Notable NPCs (what you know them as and a short description)
5-12 Charactersheets
13 Undivided Party-Loot
14 Easy Access Map-list

Also, here's gonna be a quick overview of PC's current stats.
Name - Player - HP - XP
Kaylena Kursall - Celediel - 37 HP - 28,180 XP
Germyn - Mephistopholes - 45 HP - 28,180 XP
David Pil - gboy - 69 HP - 28,180 XP

Katsumi - Brianna - 64 HP - 28,180 XP
Miliani Aelorothi - Savrit - 60 HP - 28,200 XP
Aurora Dawnsinger - Dragon Mistress - 75 HP - 28,180 XP

Game will be updated every Friday around noonish GMT (or later that day). Enjoy.

P.S.: Because of the game's situation and setting, you can reserve a seat in the game for later use in case you somehow do not have the time at this time. So if you do not have the time now to take part in the adventure, you can reserve your seat and bring a character later on. Your seat will remain reserved until you specifically state that you will not be using it.

Subject: Update!

The update's in da house, and a good one to boot.

Here's some spoilers:

Benjamin defeated and killed Darth Malis, thanks to the big cat's incompetence with Force Powers and a natural 1 on his roll to use one. Because of that, I gave Benji a free use of his Rebuke (which apparently is a reaction anyway). Anywho, the Rebuke was so successful that Malis suffered the full effect of the Force Lightning and was killed. Yay!

Both the Mandalorian and the battle droid had full cover from where Kate was originally standing, so I moved her further and did not fire a single shot. She now has a clear shot at the Mandalorian and can move just a little bit to get a good shot at the battle droid.

Arruna's speeder suffered some damage but is still fully operational. Arruna herself is still in one piece and is still battling that droid.

Awvoor missed the Mandalorian and Wrrlwarr is just standing there. So there's not really much to tell.

So what's left? A Mandalorian and a droid. That blast door is also still closed in case you're gonna open it. Just, you know, FYI.

The Maps will be ready shortly.

EDIT: Shortly as in "later today." I've got a class to get to first and then I'll send them in.

Subject: Round 4

Benjamin raises his hand against his oversized opponent. Benjamin can feel how the Force rushes through his arm and forces his Sith enemy onto the ground. In a swift movement, Benjamin raises himself up and now stands over Darth Malis.

Kate starts moving, but there is no one close enough to blast upon except a big cat with a lightsaber. She still moves, but at double her normal rate. If not now, at least she can blast something a moment later.

Arruna raises her blaster to blast the battle droid under its armor, hopefully. The blast nearly hits under the droid's shell, but leaves a nasty burn instead.

After seeing what had happened to his droid comrade, the Mandalorian nearest to Awvoor's ship starts to panic. He intends to get to cover, but Kate is already blocking that possibility. The Mandalorian flies upwards with his jetpack, raises his blaster and fires at Kate. The blast misses by a longshot and hits the ground not far from where Kate is standing.

Darth Malis growls from where he lies on the floor. He too raises his arm against his opponent, but arc of lightning extends from him towards Benjamin. But Benjamin reflexively blocks the big cat's attack and sends it hurling back to its source. Darth Malis screams in agony as the electrical power of the Force dives into his bones and forces every ounce of life out of his body. Smoke surrounds the Sith as he lies dead on the ground.

Awvoor quickly aims the weapon on his ship at the Mandalorian that has now taken to flight. But the blast missed and created a nice black spot on the wall.

The battle droid that had been caught in the making of a big, metallic sandwitch raises its arm again and lets out another hurl of flame towards Arruna. She manages to dive into her cockpit to avoid the flames, but the heat still manages to damage the speeder's internal workings.

Wrrlwarr stands in the ship and makes sure that no one gets in who is not allowed inside.

I hope you've all had a good time this Easter

I'm not back home yet but I will be going back home tomorrow, so I wanted to remind you guys that I will be updating the game this Wednesday as planned (that is assuming, of course, that I have something to update).

That is everything I had to say right now. Live whole and carefree until we meet again

EDIT: After seeing that Ayrn had posted in the game thread:
I'm fairly certain you can only spend one Force Point per turn. So you could spend one to increase the damage of the Force Slam or you can spend one to increase the likelihood of success (+1d6 unless you have the appropriate feats and/or talents). There might be a feat, talent or Class ability that allows you to spend more than one FP per turn, but I'd need my books to find it and be certain.

The update's up. Some of you may feel that this is unfair, such as an enemy should have died from what ever happened or that his character shouldn't have fallen, but I'm just using the system provided by the book.

To recap what has happened.

Benjamin is currently prone. He rolled a natural 1 on his second attack. I didn't feel like a Jedi could do something as clumsy as drop his lightsaber or trip himself, so I added a little flavour and had Malis push him down. There was no roll made and Benjamin suffered no damage from this.

Kate disabled one Mandalorian with an attack of opportunity, but didn't manage to kill him. He is still alive if you want to do a coup de grace.

Ramming your vehicle into anything also deals damage to your vehicle and all passangers. I gave Arruna the benefit of the speeder's DR though. She could have dealt more damage if she had gone at full speed (4d6 instead of 2d6) but her speeder and herself would have suffered as much.

Awvoor got a lucky shot at the battledroid and dealt a good deal of 48 damage to it (the damage listed with the droid in the Initiative order includes the droid's SR).
And of course, Wrrlwarr ran into the ship.

Now, for more personal matters.
Admiral, if you still want to play in this game I would be glad to have you with us a bit longer. If you won't post, I can NPC your characters. Feel free to do what you like, I won't force you to do anything. Send me a PM either way so that I know if you will be continuing with us or not.

And that was the last update before Easter. I'm going out of town in few hours, and although I can post something I won't be taking any of the game's data with me. So no books, no stats and no mapping tool.
That of course means you have a whole week before next update, so I recommend you take your time before posting.
And the maps for this update will be up shortly.

Enjoy the Easter holiday and just have fun in general. GM out.

With swift movements, Benjamin swings his doublebladed lightsaber to cut Darth Malis' knee and gut. But just after he cuts Malis' knee, the big cat's paw pushes Benjamin to the ground. From down there, the Jedi was not entirely sure if he could block the Sith's next attack.

Kate draw forth her vibroblade and charged towards Arruna's speeder. "Taste my blade!" she yelled as she ran the distance and drove her weapon into the Mandalorian's leg.

The Mandalorian's scream of pain turns to a sudden scream of shock as Arruna takes off from underneath him and towards the enemy battledroid. The Mandalorian falls off the speeder as soon as it starts moving, allowing Kate to get another attack. As the Mandalorian falls, Kate brings up her vibroblade and cuts the soldier in the gut. Kate can easily see that he won't be getting up after that, although he doesn't seem to be dead.
Arruna races towards the enemy battledroid who can not manage to dive into cover in time. Arruna twists her speeder and makes a metallic sandwitch with the droid between her speeder and the vehicle behind it. The droid suffers damage but its energy shield manages to save the droid's functions, although the shield is now out of order. Arruna and her speeder also suffer some damage after hitting the other vehicle, and the droid itself dented the speeder as well.

The Mandalorian who is fighting off Awvoor and Wrrlwarr fires at the wookie. But the wookie is luckier than one might think and the blast flies by the target as a complete miss.

With Benjamin fallen onto the floor, Darth Malis sees his opportunity. "Perhaps you're not as good as you think, Jedi," he says tauntingly as his brings down his lightsaber upon Benjamin. But Benjamin manages to block the saber with his own, but only so barely.

The battledroid who is fighting off Awvoor and Wrrlwarr just stands there. It can't get a clear shot without getting in the Mandalorian's way, so it decides the best course of action would be to stay out of the way.

Just as the droid makes that decission, Awvoor's ship's weapon system come online and a blaster drops and takes aim. Awvoor fires upon the battledroid who gets the blast directly in its torso. The droid's shield is shattered and the droid falls in parts onto the floor.

The battledroid that Arruna had sandwitched is completely stuck between the speeder and the fighter. It manages to free its hand and aim at the cockpit. A hurl of flame extends from its arm. But just then, Arruna pushes her speeder closer to the droid so that the fire is directed over the speeder and away so that no harm comes to Arruna or her precious vehicle.

Seeing as how things are progressing, and after getting Awvoor's code, Wrrlwarr dashes into the spaceship.

I will be updating the game rather early tomorrow because around noon I'll be going to my home town for the Easter vacation. That means that if you intend to get a post in, you better get them in tonight if you want enough time to write it. Note that I'm on GMT time (+/-0) so have your post ready before noon tomorrow. Preferably sooner so that I can read it over before posting.

Also, because I will be out of town and without my computer for the weekend, it is unlikely that I will be able to make a proper update until Wednesday next week. So tomorrow will most likely be the last update for a week.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll have a look at it. Of course, the only time the speeder has been hit so far was before you got into the speeder so the bonus wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Although I enjoy future plans in the game, I think you should focus on defeating the enemy now before you start planning on what to do with their stuff

The maximum damage you can do with the speeder's blasters is 35 on a normal hit. With a critical, you can do up to 70 by the look of things.

Yay!

This combat round was very interesting I think. Here's a little something to recap the events of the round.

Benjamin scored a critical against Darth Malis and scored over 25 on the Use the Force check to activate the Battle Strike power (I did not double that bonus with the critical hit, though). He did 44 damage with a single hit.

Kate moved and attacked, but missed.

Arruna attacked as well, but 'only' did 32 damage with the speeder's blasters.

Since Admiral didn't post, I NPCed his characters for this round. Awvoor moved into the ship and has started its engines. Wrrlwarr scored a natural 1 on his attack roll, so his bowcaster is now damaged. It is not ruined, it just needs some minor repairs.

Subject: Round 2

As Benjamin twists and twirls in the air, Darth Malis swings his lightsaber and cuts a nasty wound onto the Jedi's side. But Benjamin also does some gruesome work on the Sith. The lightsaber cuts deep into the Togorian's shoulder and leaves just as nasty wound. Despite the cut, Benjamin lands standing up next to Malis.

Kate moves towards Arruna's speeder and fires her blaster at the two enemies who had fired at Arruna just earlier. The blast misses, but only by so much.

Arruna'dira dashes into her speeder and quickly activates the weapon systems. The speeder turns and aims at the Mandalorian who left a burn mark on it. Just as the blast is about to hit, the Mandalorian dashes away but is hit in the shoulder. The blast nearly takes off the Mandalorian's arm, and he screams in great agony.

The other Mandalorian rushes into the other direction, in which the Ithorian and the Wookie were heading. He rushes as far as he can get while still being at a safe distance. "Do not move," he says, "or you're both dead!"

Darth Malis grins so that his sharp teeth show. The wound on his shoulded is a very nasty one, but it does not look like it bothers him much. "I expected nothing less from a Jedi," he says. "Now, do not disapoint me." The Togorian swings his lightsaber with all his might, but Benjamin manages to barely block it despite the force of the swing.

A battledroid follows the Mandalorian to stand in firing range with Awvoor and Wrrlwarr. It doesn't say anything though but stands ready if it must start firing.

Awvoor dashes into his ship and into the cockpit where he can activate the weapon system.

The Mandalorian that Arruna shot on her speeder does not appear to be very happy about his fate. A burst of flame appears on his back and blasts him uppwards and into the air. He gently lands on top of Arruna's speeder and fires his blaster into the cockpit. But despite even at this close of a range, and Arruna unable to move much, the Mandalorian didn't hit much but Arruna's seat.

The battledroid was not as cinematic in its attack. It simply aimed and fired upon the speeder. It fired two blasts and both missed.

While Awvoor gets into the starship, Wrrlwarr stands outside and fires his bowcaster at the Mandalorian. But the bowcaster misfires and seems to have fried the circuits in the weapon.

Subject: It is wrong

Well, since it is kinda obvious that we're not all on the same page when it comes to damage in this game, I'm going to explain it for everybody in this post.

We are going to be using the Damage formula as it is presented on page 145 (it's close to the start of the combat chapter). I am going to fix everyone's damage according to that calculation.

Melee:
Weapon damage + half heroic levels (rounded down) + Strength modifier
Ranged:
Weapon damage + half heroic levels (rounded down)

Ayrn, your damage bonus should be 2d8+7 (half heroic levels [5] + 2 for double Strength modifier for using both hands)

Subject: Awvoor's ship's blasters

I've been giving some thought as to how long it would take to get into Awvoor's ship and ready the ship's blasters. I would say it would take a full round (move action to get in, another move to get to the weapon system, swift to activate them) and I believe that is being rather generous.

On the other hand, only one person is needed to do that. One could get in while another stays and guards the entrance.

Starting the ship's engines would count as a swift action (and I would say it is a part of the weapon-activation thing) but it would take a full round to warm up. It wouldn't matter that much anyway unless you're going to leave everybody behind.

So, short version, getting into the ship and ready the weapons will count as a full round action.

There are several reasons why I should allow this without any penalties. And because it is early in the morning on a Saturday and I'm extremely bored, I'm gonna list all of them that I can think of

1. I am a strong supporter of what you may call stunt bonuses. The idea is from White Wolf's Exalted (as far as I know) and involves not only breaking the rules of the system but in fact also encouraging it by giving appropriate bonuses. I won't give you any specific bonus (except maybe XP), but I won't penalize you with unimportant rolls either.

2. A Force Power should be awesome, even if it is one that is as little descriptive as Battle Strike. A little spinning and a little jumping gives Battle Strike a much needed flavor.

3. A Jedi/Sith confrontation needs this sort of stunts. I want to encourage such activity.

4. Acrobatics would allow you to move over the box as if it weren't there, or move from a threatened space without risking an Attack of Opportunity. You're not trying to, though, so there's no reason to add such a roll to the mix.

And now for a reason why I should make you roll Acrobatics and ruin the whole flow of the action:

1. You did say he was jumping.

So you see, I have no actual reason to ruin the flow of the action in the scene, so I intend not to. You will move over the box as if it were 2 squares and Darth Cat will get an attack of opportunity. But you get to keep your action as is.
Additionally, I don't think you intended to stay on top of the box so I'd like to know (just for mapping purposes) where you intend Benjamin to 'land' or stop moving. Move two squares straight ahead (or further) or onto the box and one square down?

Indeed, that would show him as a ruthless Sith cat, but I was thinking rather to portray him as the kind of character that doesn't need to follow up on his threats because everyone's too frightened to even give it a try.

Basically, I wanted him to have control over them.

Also, that would mean I would have one less droid to throw at you

I still wonder why on Earth you keep calling them Mandals.

The last Mandalorian is at the very same spot as he was on the first map.
Also, if you look closely at the battle droid on the map featuring Awvoor and Wrrlwarr, you might see the corner of the Mandalorian's token on the droid's lower right side.

Benjamin ignited his lightsaber and moved forward to take some cover from one of the crates. He might need it against this Togorian Sith.

Kate raised her blaster and aimed at the Mandalorian who had least cover from her point of view. The blast missed, however, and hit the shuttle next to the Crusader.

Arruna'dira dashed to her speeder and used her remote card to start the engine. Soon enough those Mandalorians would be sorry for ever crossing them.

A Mandalorian Crusader took a shot at Arruna where she stood by her speeder. The blast hit the speeder however, without doing any damage except leaving a mark on the paintjob.

Darth Malis yelled to the men than had followed him: "The Jedi is mine! You will not draw his attention from this unless you wish for death! You will deal with the others!" He moved closer to Benjamin with a frightening grin on his face.

The first battle droid to make a move took aim at Arruna as well, but like the Mandalorian before it the blast missed completely.

Awvoor made his way to his ship. Hopefully he could get there in time to use some of its weapon systems, and hopefully none of the enemies would follow him.

The second Mandalorian to act made his way down by the wall to get a clearer shot at the Twi'lek and her speeder. The crusader fired upon the speeder and did some apparent damage to the vehicle.

The second battle droid followed the crusader's example, took position and fired upon Arruna's speeder. Luckily, the blast missed by hardly an inch and ended in the opposite wall.

Wrrlwarr followed his Ithorian employer/friend. Awvoor was not much of a fighter so he might need Wrrlwarr's help if there would be a battle.
