Links page fixed.

hmm

After a few days, I gotta admit, I don't like the positioning. It makes the site feel too busy, too cluttered.

I still think we can afford to lose a T-shirt ad.

Wow

I agree with Bob, plus it seems odd we really give them top billing when the majority of them have them down on the side.

Its now the first thing I see when I boot up the Inn...and it's a little meh.

just to keep it going

When you compare it to the others, it seems like we're trying too hard. It's up to you, but I think we can find a better position out there.

Hmmm ...

Would there be any way to "stack" the buttons vertically at the bottom of the left-hand ads?

or move the "Partners" bar (or buttons) to the bottom, above the TOS disclaimer?

Maybe

maybe replace a tee add with the partners links. But adding more makes new pages seem awkward. Above ToS agreement thing sounds good too.

Dude

I realise I jump on every idea but right about the TOS would be perfect.

yea

We have the unique advantage of being 90% forums, and that users here actually scroll to the bottom of the page regularly.

nope

That's not gonna work. Even though yes, two of the other sites are technically breaking the rules by placing their banners a bit below the fold, that's way different from putting it in the footer - which was specifically stated as a do not do.

hmm

Then I stand by the T-shirt ad idea. Take it for what you will

Well

If two of them are already breaking it, and its a 5 member group...why not team up with them and get the rules changed through a majority vote to compensate.

Otherwise I favor the add bar on the left.

Why not add them in a collapsable menu?

Like the "Interactive" menu, which splits into the DragonForum, DragonChat, Contact Us etc. It would clear up space, still have it near the top and provide a place for all the links.

Just my 2 cents.

...

I think it's a bit unfair to move adds from where they are now (a prominent position) to somewhere less prominent. Just because a couple of the websites may not have placed the ads in a decent place, it's unjust to penalize those that have.

Would it be possible to have the 'partners' info below the 'latest five updated topics' section? That might be a slightly better place from where it is now, while not reducing its visibility.

originally

I had placed it below the last five, but that was unpopular.

The problem with moving it to the current ad space is that said ad space does not exist on every page of the site. So, where do we put them on those pages?

Beside Support?

Would they fit on the end of the main menu? Maybe you could compromise with them in the top T-shirt ad space where it exists and on an interactive menu bar and the footer where the ad space doesn't (such as "Add new message" pages). Add new message pages/edit message/etc. all have the footer in view when the text entry field is centered or sooner, at least at my resolution.

On the homepage I think putting them where the e-mail login is and then putting the login on the right sidebar and bumping news down below the login might work aesthetically.
