garuda

Garuda is actually derived from Hinduism, and more information on the origins of the name, creatures, and ancient hatred of Naga can be found on Wikipedia.

updates

I haven't set myself on any specific schedule at this point, probably Mondays after work though after this week. I don't get any computer time on the weekends my daughter is over so I won't get much done during weekends.

Updates

I'll get you a complete update of what sort of concoctions Zick has with him each day. Other than that, I think the little guy is ready.

As for the adventure - I like that you moved things along. I'll post a bit of a backstory, but there is no reason to delay for that. But as we hit the woods, I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. If I am remembering right, it is noonish. It seems obvious that we would enter the woods. Is there a path? A road? A fork in the road? Do we have any sense of how big this woods is or where in the woods the camp might be? I guess I assume we would head on in - do you want something beyond that?

Marching order, perhaps? I would think the shapechanger at the front as I assume he has the best senses. Would he travel in dog form? Birdman at the back? (I'll get names down eventually - that one is Mattias or something like that, I think. I'll get it.) Can he actually fly? That leaves the beautiful one and the little one in the middle in some order. Zick can fight, but he prefers a bit of distance between himself and the enemy.

Updates

Mattia is indeed the birdmans name, as for marching order it'd make most sense for him to be in the back with his gun. Also can not fly, but is actually very possible for me to do so with the correct feats.

As for me I'll have a post up by Friday at the latest! Glad we got the game rolling along now

sounds good

I don't mind being in front. I'm pretty tanky anyways

I can travel in dog form, I think it gives me a bonus to tracking and disguise? I'll need to check that.

I'll also get names down eventually as well.

I'll have a post up friday hopefully...

Last day to post?

When's update day btw?

Additionally, is there a place to see a char sheet or do we keep our own?

Some questions:

1) Is there anything that would obviously be left by the bandits?
2) Would i be able to catch a scent to track?
3) When was the last bandit attack and are we at the camp they attacked?

I'm behind, oh noes!

I paused there to see how the group wanted to go about this. Do you march in weapons drawn, does someone scout ahead and see what they can find, do you just yell into the woods and hope someone comes to you, do you send in the ranged fighter and have him get their attention and lure them out of the cover of the woods? There are so many possible ways to go about this, and I didn't want to assume any one specific method.

In regards to your questions Impulse:

When's update day btw? Monday evenings as of right now.
Additionally, is there a place to see a char sheet or do we keep our own? I have not set up a place for sheets, I may in the future. For now I have copies saved to my desktop.
Some questions:

1) Is there anything that would obviously be left by the bandits?I'll roll a check as part of the next update if this is the route the group chooses to go.
2) Would i be able to catch a scent to track?Without a scent to reference the best you could hope for is to sniff out scents of people, whether cooking food, smoldering embers, a camp latrine, sweaty old clothes, that sort of thing.
3) When was the last bandit attack and are we at the camp they attacked?About 3 days prior, a caravan was coming in from the next town and was ambushed along the road. No one was hurt thanks to well trained caravan guards, but a few goods were lost in the ambush.

Someone asked about the size of the forest, it covers a pretty good portion, stretching into the peninsula and covering a good portion of that area. It easily goes on for miles...

okay thank you!

Savis is down for anything you guys wanna do. He'll suggest stuff but he's more of a follower than a leader...

So if you ever wanna order him around to do something, he'll prolly do it!

(esp for Nimu's char lol)

OK

That makes a bit more sense. I wasn't quite sure what was happening - if you march up to a woods the size of Mirkwood it really doesn't make sense to call out, "hello bandits!" But a smaller woods might. Or a large woods in which you are fairly sure of the approximate location of the bandits.

To the group - I would rarely suggest we take things on head-on when it is avoidable. So, if this is where the road approaches the woods, I would suggest we backtrack a bit and enter the woods a mile or two to the side. Then approach this area through the woods. Essentially, if they are trying to lay an ambush for travelers - we try to approach the ambush from the back instead of walking into it. It is midday after all, they won't be sleeping. I think.

GM: Are we on a road? If so, does it enter the woods or just skirt by the edge?

i'll follow your lead

Savis will follow your lead

Your reasoning is good and I'm fine with this plan

more questions to answer

The ambushes are taking place (mostly) along the road between Tulduroc and Renfall (the town by the lake to the west of Tulduroc). They camp out in the woods, where they tend to count out and divvy up the loot from good hauls. There is a "road" of sorts that breaks off that main road, more of a beaten path really that veers northwest toward the ruins skirting the northernmost Mage Scar that you could have walked along as it runs parallel to the forest for a little bit.

You assume, that with the high traffic the bandits will be lying low until the traffic is lighter, more traffic means more chance of highly trained guards and they tend to make a bandit's "job" harder to do.

Also Kamina, it is roughly 2:00 in the afternoon, nowhere near sunset. It was not a long trek, and we're working with the assumption that your group headed out around Noon-ish.

ooooh . . . Talk to the Village People . . . Zick likes to dance a bit. Can we all do the Y..M..C..

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Being noonish - I like the idea of entering the woods "on the side a bit." If we don't find anything the idea of looking for a camp fire at night makes a lot of sense. I'll post under the assumption that we probably won't just wait until night to do anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.

DM Question: Since someone brought up the "Village People." Are there, in fact such people? Did we pass a village? Are there farms close to the woods? Would there be locals to talk to? And do they, in fact, include a policeman, an Indian, a soldier, a biker, a Construction worker and a cowboy?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Zick is such a macho man . . .
