Home Grown:- Recruitment

Mechanics
Edition:- Cross between 3e and 3.5e as well as some home grown rules.
No. Players:- 3 to 8 players needed.
Starting Level:- 1st
Abilities:- 32 point buy.
Starting Gold and Equipment:- You will start with no gold, no equipment and only a 'Peasant's Outfit'.
Books:- You may use the books: FR Campaign Settings, Complete Warrior, Complete Adventure, Races of the Wild and the Players handbook, obviously.
House Rules:- 3e skills, free leadership skill at first level and 3e Weapon Point System (I will send the details of this system to anyone interested if you can't download it).

This campaign is a fusion of 3e, 3.5e and some home grown rules. It is set in Halruaa, detailed in FR Campaign Settings (Click here for map), the country is looking to expand it's borders north-west to 'The Shining Sea' into the unclaimed land so it can control trade between The Shar and Tashakar. This act however is not yet in motion but will heavily involve the PC's and change there lives together.

NO PLAYERS WHO WILL DROP OUT ONCE THEY'VE JOINED NO ONE LINE POSTS AND ATLEAST ONE POST A WEEK
Please reply with your questions and character ideas.

Joining The Homegrown Adventure

I would be interested in joining. Most of my experience is with FR, Eberron and my own creations as DM .. I could play just about any class but I would love to play a sorc, cleric, bard, druid, ranger or artificer if it is allowed. Are you using standard casting or spell points for casters (out of unearthed arcana) I assume standard but thought I would ask. Let me know what you think you will need for your campaign and I will love to tag along for the adventure

More Questions

Awesome!
I am looking forward to it .. I had a couple questions . .and if they were answered somewhere I apologize.
1. When do you think we will be starting (I assume it depends on when people join up)
2. I am a little new to playing with posting .. how does it work when you do combat .. how do you know if you hit something .. how do you interact with the enemy .. or do we not even deal with the combat side of things? I have done combat before with a system in chat .. but postings seem like it would take longer for that sort of thing.
3. How would feats and skills come into play .. do you just describe yourself using these abilities?

I know these questions are probably basic .. but I'm new to the whole "playing by posting" thing.

Not basic,

I wanted to ask the same questions when I started "playing by posting" as you put it, by the way I like that.

1) We will start playing when I get at least 4 players.
2) I will set a time when everyone is on so that when there is a combat situation we will do it over dragonchat.
3) Use your feats and skills to define your characters history and provide some reasoning for your choices.

Also I am using the 3e Weapon Point system, a system developed by myself to give 3e some more realism. I will email it to you.

Hmm.

I will play Murk, an outcast, elven ranger, and his half-sister Shade, a half-elf.

Possible new character ideas.

So you have a mage, cleric, or potentisl fighter archer specilist.

Race: half Monn elf, half Sun elf.
female:

Okay you said wearing only peasant outfit. Does that procluded having a background that may not be dirt poor peasant but just using that outfit to escape and remain unseen as the poor often are?

Character Idea

I am reading the thread here and the game sounds interesting, but I am not quite sure what characters you have already. Since it seems the characters will start out with only a peasants outfit and obviously poor I am thinking of a character along these lines.

Although I have not yet decided on what race I want him to be. The character will be an escaped slave who when young was taken in some kind of pirate raid and then sold to a traveling band of gypsies who went around putting on some kind of shows. They would have trained him as a thief for it would have been his job to mingle among the crowds that would gather at the shows and of course pilfer whatever he could.

Then in one town he is caught and when he is linked to the show the band is rounded up and brought in, but the two who lead the band being the excellent shysters and con men they are manage to talk and bribe their way out of trouble, and as they are leaving the jailers give him back to them so they can extract their own justice. Once camped outside of town they proceed to whip and beat him for his error and then throw him back into the cage they kept him in, however since he is now unconscious and they think near death they don't secure him as they normally do, and sometime in the night he awakens to find he can escape. However because of the horrible way they had treated and kept him these many years he feels he must extract some of his own justice and before he escapes into the night he proceeds to sneak through the camp and before he leaves all are dead. he will then of course be carrying around a terrible secret with him.
