Sorry iut took so long. And while i didn't post it in my post if it comes up Jed will want to borrow the glock.

Subject: It's hasn't even been a week since my last post.

"This way gentlemen" A servant politely lead the way and Jed politely followed. Jed was too involved in his thoughts about what resources he could safely call upon and what the identity of this rogue might be to notice his surroundings.

“In response to your earlier question about my profession, I am a dealer of sorts,” The other Mekhet's words brought Jed out of his thoughts.

"Oh really..."Jed was about to ask what the merchandise he dealt in was when Archer Herst burst down upon them.

"Get in the car. We've work to do." Archer Herst is not a polite Vampire, then again it appears my fellow Mekhet is more business than pleasure as well. Ah well, what happened to the old romantic Vampire?

Jed climbed easily into the front seat, admittedly without checking or waiting on the others.

"So you're supposed to have the details about this little outing. Do we have a name? Where was he last?" Jed slipped into a reporter frame of mind.

"The vampire is unknown so far. Nobody seems to recognize him or know anything about him. So far we know that he is strong and pretty fast but he is working too much in the open. He is old-fashioned, just under six feet tall and is most probably a Nosferatu judging from his appearance. He was last seen in the Havens while you were talking with her Highness" Herst answered Jed's questions though Jed couldn't tell if that was because Herst heard him or if Herst was just going to say all that anyway. Jed looked out the window and noticed that they weren't exactly going to the Havens. I wonder just how stocked the Prince's supplies are.

“So were exactly are we going. If he is in the Havens shouldn’t we go there for information” A bit impatient. I wonder if he stopped listening at I've got a mission for you or if he just missed the Prince saying that she'll give us what we need to finish this. Jed sat quietly not because he didn't already know the answer but more because he wasn't in a position to answer politely.

They pulled up in front of an old house. Somehow even if we don't have romantic vamps we still get classed in the renassaince period. Jed thought wistfully looking at the ancient building.

"Yes, we are going out hunting for a rogue vampire," said Herst as he walked into the old building. "And if said vampire won't listen to diplomatic reason? Do you intend to fight him off by yourself?"

"So wait are we going to try diplomacy? I thought we were going to take him from a distance." Jed said as he reviewed the armaments on display.

USS Cerberus– Ready Room – 1800 hours

"Enter" The captain responded to Sitok's ding for entrance. Sitok walked into the Captain's ready room and cooly observed the room's set up and design. It didn't seem to be lived in yet but that was understandable considering this was probably the Captain's first day on board. The Captain himself was sitting comfortably at his desk drinking a beverage of some kind. Probably coffee or tea judging by the steam coming off the cup.

“Commander Sitok reporting in, sir,” Sitok presented himself professionaly if not just a bit tight.

“Aye,” The captain, Captian MacTavish I believe nodded, waving off the Sitok's rigid posture and extending a hand, “me XO. Welcome abaird the Cerberus, Commander.”

"Thank you Captain." Sitok shook MacTavish's hand. MacTavish motioned for Sitok to be seated and he took his own seat. Sitok saat directly across from the captain keeping his attention on him politely.

“I’ve read yer jacket, o’ course,” Jack said as he settled in, “an’ I cannae help but notice tha’ yer no’ quite wha’ us humans might consider ta be yer standard, ever’day Vulcan. There’s some vera interstin’ commentary throughoot yer records, all th’ way back ta yer days inna Academy… plenty o’ references ta a ‘gut instinct’ tha’s served ye better’n most would’ve expected, aye?”

"I have found that Humans are sometimes more effecient because of an emotional response and while it is illogical to permit one's emotions to control their thoughts or actions it is also illogical to ignore a subconscious warning such as emotions may bring." Sitok explained fervently hoping to avoid any too-human-for-your-own-good response.

Well, Sitok,” Mac rumbled as he produced a PADD that Weatherly had prepared for the XO’s arrival and slid it across the desk, “if Fleet left ye in th’ dark aboot th’ nature o’ this assignment as they did me, ye’re gut instinct’s likely reasoned oot b’now tha’ we’re no’ exactly goin’ ta wha’ ye might call th’ front lines… an’, if et ‘asn’t, let’s ‘ope tha’ et sairves us well once ye’ve read the brief. Ye’ll find th’ details, there, as well as th’ intel feeds we’ve go’ on our targets. They be sketchy a’ best but I’m sure tha’ we’ll be gettin’ updates ere we get any closer ta jumpin’ through th’ lookin’ glass.
We’ve go’ a site less’n thairty-six hours ere we launch, Commander – plenty o’ time fer ye ta digest tha’ information an’ pull a meetin’ tagether fer the senior staff an’ the Romulan delegation tha’ll be accompanyin’ us…” Sitok took the PADD looking quickly over it but at the word Romulan Sitok looked up with a raised eyebrow. Romulans! They can't be trusted, why would Starfleet make the mistake of bringing Romulans aboard a warship?

“Aye, lad,” MacTavish smirked, “I ‘ad near th’ same reaction, an’ our TAC officer’s were a wee bit less reserved’n tha’. Nevertheless, we do ‘ave a Romulan delegation abaird. Seems tha’ th’ RSE’s been generous enough ta put us on loan fer a coupla Gen V cloaks’s long’s we play nice an’ let some o’ their kin come along fer th’ ride… quid pro quo an’ all o’ that, aye… Er sheepshyte an’ politics if ye prefer…”

"I would suggest giving our distinguished guests an armed escort while they are aboard this ship." A trained ear would be able to hear the condescension in Sitok's voice but only a trained ear would.

(assuming an aye really but just an answer will do)

The door beeped while MacTavish was answering and he had to politely disengage from the conversation. Well at least he's polite thats a mark in his favor. He also doesn't seem to trust the Romulans which make's my job of dealing with them easier.

An Andorian female walked into the room. This surprised Sitok as he had never seen an andorian before and he wasn't aware they were a part of the Federation. Sitok listened closely as the Andorian who had introduced herself as LT. P'Tammah and he was impressed with how thourough just a transport report was but what really made him leave with the hint of a smile on his face was the Captain's speal about pushing the Cereberus to her limits and the readiness of his helm, which Sitok took to hold true for the rest of the crew.

"A pleasure to meet and serve with you I'm sure." Sitok said inclining his head as the Captain reintroduced P'Tammah.

"Sir I have much work to catch up on if I'm to be ready for the crew's arrival at 900 tomorrow. With your permission I would like to have that meeting with the senior officers and the Romulan contingent at 1000 hours tomorrow." Sitok replied at the end of the Captain's speal to P'Tammah.

(assuming an acquience)

"Thank you sir. I'll see you in the morning." Sitok slightly bowed respectfully and turned to leave. He headed for the XO's office to read the PADD he was holding.

(OOC: if Rrowl or Valberg is on the bridge when Sitok leaves the Ready room he will make a point of introducing himself and if the captain agreed to the armed escort he will suggest that to whichever he meets.)

Subject: Long posts are better than short

The club was quiet this evening. There were only a handful of people with only two that looked palatable. Not that that was the reason Jed was here. Not that Jed had a reason to be here, he just was. He enjoyed the atmosphere and the music, usually. At the moment he was just sitting and watching while enjoying a nice margarita. He didn’t plan on staying late tonight. He needed to gather his notes from his last investigation and put together the book he had been promising the Ordul. He downed his drink paid his tab and walked out of the doors. He spotted Archer Herst almost immediately. Having been motioned over Jed walked to have a chat with Archer.

“Finally,” he said as the Mekhet approached. “I’ve been waiting for you. The Prince has sent for you.” Jed noticed that he wasn’t the only one included in that comment. Nodding Jed followed Archer back to the Palace. This was the first time Jed had ever met the Prince. I wonder why the Prince would summon me. Surely She doesn’t bother to read the crap I generally publish for the World Weekly or any of my sappy love novels. The Palace itself wasn’t overly grand in the way a Sultan’s Palace would be. Then again it wouldn’t with the need to blend in. Entering the Palace was fairly short in reference to time, getting around to meeting the Prince was overly long. Probably a test of some kind. Jed sat and waited patiently at least as patiently as he could.

“Hey, you’re a Mekhet too. Fancy meeting you. What’s your profession? I’m a novelist.” Jed said to the other. “When do you think the Prince will deign to see us? I hear she’s lovely, have you ever met her before? This will be my first time.”

After about three hours a messenger led them into the Prince’s throne room. Upon entering Jed bowed respectfully. This wasn’t the first great Vampire he had met but it was a great Vamp and he as not, at least not as great as her, so she deserved some respect.

“Milady, you are lovelier than the rumors, though that isn’t their fault it’s just that no words devised can describe such beauty as yours, How can a lowly writer such as myself serve such a great being?” flattery never hurts and in this case I’m only slightly exaggerating

“Welcome, my kin,” she said and Jed could feel her voice sting with a pleasant pain. “I have summoned the two of you because I am in need of your service. The Masquerade is threatened and I need the two of you to deal with the problem. A vampire has been seen using his Disciplines openly in town and that can not be tolorated. So far he has not used his Disciplines in front of many witnesses, but this must be stopped before that happens.
“You will be given what resources you need to complete the task and once you are finished you will report back to me immediately.”

“What are your answers? Will you accept this assignment?”

Jed was usually not a frontline man. Not that he couldn’t be, he was trained in various weapons and in fact now wore a longsword that had it’s share of nicks from previous fights. But just cause he could didn’t mean he was. In fact he had obtained a rep for surviving the almost impossible and exaggerating the details. There’s only two reasons I was summoned: either this is one of those supposedly impossible survival situations or it’s supposed to end up in World Weekly There was also the question of what Vampire would be stupid enough to expose himself in such a way. The law of not using your disciplines was not a political control law, it was just common sense. It was easier to hunt prey that didn’t know you were dangerous. Not even the Invictus would make such a move

“Of course I’ll do what I can. But before we start pray may we have the name of our target?”

USS Cerberus - Captain’s Ready Room – 1800 hours

Sitok stepped off the shuttle onto one of the various shuttle bays that a starbase is equipped with. Grabbing his bag Sitok headed to Registration, since he didn’t have to report to a higher officer until 0900 hours tomorrow all he needed to do was report that he had indeed made it to SB 10 and then he could enjoy a quiet evening of music. Which is a wonderful way to end the day. Sitok had discovered music from earth’s 1980 era and had decided that he enjoy bands such as Eagles, Styx, and Journey. To that end he often ended his day listening to Hotel California.

“Commander Sitok reporting in” Sitok said clearly in an almost british accent. It was an accent he had picked up from one of his teachers in the Academy. He found that it had a startling effect of putting people at ease, and when you’re a Vulcan with superior logic it was often necessary to put the rasher species at ease when you displayed that superiority.

“Yes sir.” The Lt. said as he reviewed his PADD. “Sitok let’s see here…You’re on deck 10 and there is a message for you to report to the USS Cerberus as soon as possible, which is docked in dock 2c.”

“Thank you.” Sitok headed in the direction everyone was going figuring it to be the way to lift. As he entered the lift he moved into one of the corners so that he wouldn’t squished by any others catching the same lift. “Dock 2c” As soon as possible means five minutes ago, if what I hear of MacTavish is correct The ride was a long one which gave Sitok time to compose himself and think. Sitok like any Vulcan wasn’t one to day dream or attempt to imagine what the future held, there were far too many possibilities and variables to attempt such a thing logically, but he still wondered why he would be asked aboard before the 0900 reporting call. Still as a Starfleet officer it isn’t up to me question my superiors, it’s up to me to do as asked and thus give a good example. When the lift finally opened announcing it was his turn to get off Sitok calmly and deliberately walked towards the first shuttle the saw.

“Commander Sitok of the USS Cerberus. I need a lift over.” There is little reason to believe anyone except the Captain will be on board. It is better to ride a shuttle than attempt to get someone to transport me over.

“The USS Cerberus isn’t supposed to have anyone until 0900 tomorrow.”

“I was not asking, I was giving an order and it will be carried out. I need you to give me a ride over to the USS Cerberus.”

“Yes Sir.” Discipline seems to be lacking on this Starbase I sincerely hope our crew does not come strictly from here. Speaking of which I need to review the jackets of at least the command Staring out the window Sitok admired the ship he was assigned to. A Steamrunner class ship the USS Cerberus was outfitted for combat. Steamrunners were a peculiar design. They were an old design that had been retired nigh on twenty years ago, but having been refitted with modern weapons they were now the highest armed vessel of their size. Speaking of size the Steamrunner was not the largest vessel Sitok had seen, having come off a Galaxy class, but it also wasn’t the smallest. It also isn’t complete Sitok noticed as he disembarked from the shuttle and noticed a couple of engineers putting together some of the flooring.

“Computer, where is the Captain?”

=/\\=He is in the Captain’s office=/\\=

“Thank you.” Sitok headed to the turbolift. “Bridge”
Coming off the bridge Sitok noticed that it was complete and sparkling. He beeped the door to the office. (assuming permission to enter)

“Commander Sitok reporting in sir.”

Stardate: 2374.08.31
USS Incubi - Officer's Quarters - 0800 hours

Sitok reviewed himself in front of the mirror. His ears came to point showing strong Vulcan blood running through his veins. His eyebrows came to the same point as his ears and his nose nearly came to the same point. His mouth was smoothed in a line parallel to the wave of his hair. His shoulders were straight bringing the uniform to a very respectable linear sharpness. It would be his last day aboard the USS Incubi and Sitok was not displeased to leave. In fact he was excited to leave. Not that it showed in his demeanor but he defiantly felt it. His heart rate was slightly accelerated and his mouth felt a peculiar urge to curve. Sitok had learned that the accelerated heart rate could tell him something but that the curve to his lips was seemingly obscene even if humans often did it. The obscenisity of the smile on a Vulcan face was tied to the teachings of Sarik. Of course Sarik taught that emotions were weakness, but Sitok did not believe that. Certainly humans were not always weak and they had and showed these emotions, and Sitok himself discovered that often emotions were more a warning to something the subconscious had noticed that for some reason the conscious had not. Many Vulcans would and had in the past argued with Sitok that this was not logical. That it was illogical to abandon reason simply because emotions said to abandon it, and Sitok agreed with that logic; that reason should not be abandoned. Sitok believed that emotions should be used in the logical process as though you were telling yourself something. The end result Sitok decided was that it was a weakness to show emotions, not to have them. And The emotion Sitok was experiencing was excitement. He was to be First Officer of the USS Cerberus, a warship. And what’s more is that he was to serve under Commander MacTavish. MacTavish was rumored to be one of the top tactical officers Starfleet has ever seen. To serve under him on a warbird would be very educational. Though I’ve been reassigned there is still work to be done today. Sitok opened his room door and walk out of his quarters. He walked the short distance to the turbolift.

“Bridge” He said calmly even though his stomach was full of butterflies. The lift ride was shorter than usual at least that’s what it felt like but Sitok knew that it was illogical that it would be so. When the lift opened Sitok stepped off. Since the Captain was already on the Bridge Sitok’s presence demanded little respect. He walked to his usual position.

“So leaving us are you Sitok?” The Captain asked warmly.

“Yes sir.” Sitok replied “I am packed and ready. I will disembark upon landing at Starbase 10.”

“Well I’ve got things under wraps here. Why don’t you get your stuff down to the trans and await our landing?”
And by under wraps he is of course using one of human’s idioms. I still don’t understand why human’s use them “Of course sir thank you.” Sitok rose from his commander’s chair aboard the Incubi for the last time. I suppose it is a little sad that I am leaving but the chance to be a ship’s first XO with a brand new crew is exciting. Sitok entered his quarters and grabbed his bag. It was only one bag because Sitok didn’t believe in having many items. He kept meditation candles, a blanket a family that he had visited made him, and his extra uniforms and that was pretty well it. He went down to the shuttle bay. It was illogical to transport a single bag when it was easier to carry it. He waited in shuttle bay for what seemed an eternity. When the ship had finally docked and the shuttle bay doors opened Sitok was well ready to launch his shuttle. Giving a nod to the Ensign who was actually piloting the shuttle Sitok left the USS Incubi.

"To arms" The cry echoes throughout the camp jolting Intil up. He jumps up donning his armor, thankful that it's only leather armor and nothing heavy or difficult to put on. He doesn't bother straping on his sheath but instead grabs his crossbow and loads a bolt while holding onto a few more for quick and easy loading. It was a trick Intil picked up while talking to a few veterans. Intil was quite fond of his crossbow. It was made of yew as were the bolts Intil preffered. Yew as Intil's father taught him was unlike any other wood; it was strong and sturdy but still surprisingly open to outside influence. That meant to his father that it was receptive to magic, but in the case of the crossbow it meant that while being strong the yew would still fly straight, far, and true; as long as Intil's aim was good. Intil slowly peeked out of the flap to the tent assessing the situation amidst the choas that is an awakening battle. Intil watched as Maviar knocked an arrow from himself. Following the line of fire Intil spotted five archers taking aim at new targets.

Five archers, hardly anything to panic over by themselves but it's what's coming affter that needs considering. Intil thinks to himself I wonder why the enemy would spoil the surprise of their attack in this way

Intil takes careful aim at the nearest archer and fires off a bolt. He then imediately begins to reload.

"I'll go with you Intil to check out the bridge and then I will stand first watch." Kelan decided.

“Fine let’s go.” Intil says and walks out. He heads in the direction of the bridge watching the life of the camp, checking to see if anything is out of the ordinary. When he approaches the bridge his attention focuses on the woods across from the bridge as he considers what is waiting for him over there. Then he lets his eyes wander to examine the bridge itself.

The bridge looked steady and well built, not that Intil knew the difference between a well built bridge and a crappy one. It wouldn’t support a well developed phalanx though which meant that crossing it in a fight would be difficult at best especially considering Intil had no shield. He would just have to hope a wizard was casting the proper spell for him to steal. The water under the bridge looked clean, which meant that the enemy was either pissing clear or was down stream. Either way the water should be safe to drink. Closing his eyes Intil brought his mind to focus and sent it across the bridge sensing for magic. (please tell me what the results are) and he scanned the bridge in detail searching for various traps. (again the results please)

As Intil is scanning the water for possible traces of magic or traps the rest of the party joins. Intil turns to them and notices a female elf amongst the party. As most elves are she’s lovely. The sight of her twinges slightly on Intil’s heartstring as memories pass briefly through his mind of the one other elf he knows. “Who are you?” he asks softly.

"I'm a new recruit. I've been assigned to your company, is there anything i can help you with" She replies with confidence.

“Well we have first watch don’t we? We might as well get about it.” Intil says and faces the woods again.

"Can I take the first watch then i can combine it with meditation. Is there anything I should look out for in particular?" The elf states. The idea of a meditative watch wasn’t a good idea to Intil but before he could say so the mage steps up and rudely puts in his say. A say the elf doesn’t appreciate, and since a company would be relying on each other there really wasn’t room for petty arguments. So Intil stepped in the middle.

“Easy now, let's just set up a watch." And following his own advice Intil begins doing just that.

An hour after a new company that Intil recognizes as the neighboring tent arrives to relieve them. Having been relieved Intil walks back to his tent and checks in with himself for anything not tended to. He realizes he hasn’t eaten but concludes he doesn’t need to eat yet. Loosening his sword in its scabbard Intil curls up around his sword and falls to sleep awaiting the next day and the true beginning of working with this new unit.

A sinewy miniature man sporting a well tended goatee, wearing black breeches and a black shirt covered by tan leather armor and a shortsword at his hip strolled into camp. The paper that brought him here assigned him to the 7th division B company 3rd battalion. They were known as the Iron Eagles, the best of the best. Which fit with Intil’s record of surpassing the expected. Intil enjoyed the disciplined and chaotic feel of military life, he enjoyed taking calculated risks.

At the moment he was heading for the middle of the camp. where he saw four officers, a human with the symbol of Pelor around his neck, and a mace at his side, an elf with two swords in scabbards on his back, and another human with an axe and a red shield next to him, clearly the leader, writing in a leather book. The head officer finished writing in his journal and rose to address Intil and three others. Intil watched as the others arrived just a little behind him pleased that he was in fact first.

"Here we are then. I was wondering when you would arrive. Maviar will get you familiar with the place. Don't want you getting lost in a battle now, do we?" The CO asked. A question which Intil found slightly degenerating and so he ignored it. The cleric stepped forward, Intil's direct CO.

"My name is Maviar Hendrix, and I will be your commanding officer. First things first, I, and most likely you probably have no idea who each other are. Kindly introduce yourselves, and I hope you're good at remembering the names because you'll have a lot more to learn than that." Maviar is more courteous that the leader.

Intil steps forward, smirking as he notices the others hesitate allowing him to go first. "I am Intil Irrigan, formerly of the 3rd division A company of the 3rd battalion. My specialty is crossbow, though I can use my sword if neccessary and I am effecient in combat against magic-users." Intil steps back in line and listens as the others introduce themselves.

“Now, for the camp itself. I'm going to take you on a little tour of the area, because we'll be stationed here for about 5 days while we wait for reinforcements, and another day's reprive after they arrive." Maviar begins his introduction of the camp and the tour.

"That there is where you will be staying for those 5 days. I'll show you to your tent, which is n the same are as the rest of the men under my command. I'm sure they'll be glad to see reinforcements, we've taken some rather heavy hits lately." He moves toward the bridge motioning for the company to follow. Intil strolls after him carefully ticking mental notes of everything Maviar says and does.

"This bridge is the only place to cross the river that's anywhere near here. I'm rather suprised we haven't been attacked yet. Ahead of the bridge, there, is a forest, as you can see. It stretches about a dozen miles, and we have reason to believe there are numerous squads camped there. That should be about the only thing we have to fear from the woods, the forest itself is rather bright and friendly. To the left, the North, we have the cliffs that this river falls off of, eventually leading to the mountains where it originates. A few miles to the South starts the heavy jungles. Suffice to say we don't want to have to march an army through either side, so this bridge is of the utmost importance." Maviar points out the strategic advantage of the bridge. Intil watches his party carefully while listening, and makes a note to examine the bridge further and in greater detail.
"Night is coming, best get yourselves set up. Your tent is that one," Maviar points to a tent that is in between what appears to be a medical tent and another soldier barracks tent. "In a few hours, someone from another squad will wake you for your watch, in the meantime, I would suggest getting to know each other and the other men and women, most particularly those in the three tents next to yours, two are also under my command, one is the medic and cooks tent. Speaking of cooks, I'm sorry to say that you've arrived too late for dinner, but they should have something left over. I leave you now, do as you wish, but don't stray too far. And-don't set the tents on fire. It may be funny while under the influence of liquor but we don't take kindly to it here." At the mention of diner Intil checks with himself to determine whether or not he’s hungry and decides that he can withstand a few more hours without. Intil opens the tent and walks in. He threw his stuff on the first bed he came to, not bothering to organize it. "I'm going to take a better look at the bridge does anyone want to come with me?"
