Topic: Throne of the Phantom King
Subject: since no one else said what they're doing....

Talon interrupts the small argument between the two party members. "Yeah, it's a good idea at this point not to dwell on anything right now, but keeping your eyes peeled. I just recognized a marker I was told by one of me fellow merchants to keep on the look out for. This is the spot where the last merchant convoy was ambushed."

Well, I guess its time to find out whether or not the gnolls like to stick to the same hunting grounds and patterns.

Talon continues talking. "Keep your weapons at the ready.
Mine already is.
If any of you are any good at tracking, now's the time for it.
I don't think we have a tracker with us at the moment.
If you've never tracked Gnolls, you are looking for a very large canine print, but only one pair per gnoll, for they are like jackals that stand on their hind legs."

Still in a hushed voice he says sort of as an after thought,"THIS is why I was quiet for so long. I figured there would time enough for talking, when we were off the road and safe and warm around a campfire."
I didn't realize the gnolls were this close to town. That priestess must not care about the people much at all to let this happen so close by.

Upon hearing the rustling in the bushes Garrik keeps watch in that direction from where he is behind the wagon, unmounted, and ready for battle. He uses some of his innate magic abilities to create a faintly, glowing, vaguely human shape in the bushes to possibly startle anything that may have been hiding in them. ((OoC Dancing lights spell like ability))

I guess i just repeated most of what you asked just differently.

I'm pretty sure the half-orc being the quiet deadly type pretending not to be as smart as he really is would be the first one to chime in so i'll let someone else get things rolling in the actual game thread.

After listening to Khet and Kor chime in Zau adds his 2 coppers worth.

"Hey sheriff or mayor. Who would be the best bet in town to ask about what kinda creatures you have living in the nearby woods? If the possible prankster isn't from town maybe its from the woods. And just to clarify were the items stolen one at a time or were several items stolen at once but only found one by one in the woods."

Zau turns to face Khetarin.

"Sorry Khet, but I don't think we are dealing with normal thieves here. If they were wouldn't they have kept the items to sell even if it wasn't for much. And the adventurers shield most likely would have been ransomed back to the person wanting it not just quietly left lying around. I don't think thieves would leave things lying around to be found that would give away where they were either."

Zau just turns to shake his head no at Kor.

(( OoC I understand Zau could be totally wrong about things but he's convinced he's on the right track ))

Subject: everyone must be too hung over to talk....

Garrik moves up along side the wagon so that he may easily talk to Talon.

I was hoping Patrick or Bruno would be a little more lively this morning. Ms. Moon Cat hasn't hasn't said a thing since she got here and Behufil hadn't been seen or heard from since this morning. Well I guess I'll get the conversation going then. I think we need to know more about that priestess. I have a feeling that we shouldn't trust her or let down our guard around her when we get back.

"Say, Talon, do you think its far enough from town to tell us anything about the cold, cruel elf Priestess that we'll get to deal with again once we return? I honestly get a bad feeling from her and don't trust her, which is odd because usually I give elves the benefit of the doubt. I hope we can help out your boy when we get back by talking some sense into him to find a better employer. She doesn't seem the type to care about her underlings."

Hopefully Talon knows something about the Priestess that can help us. Hopefully the others chime in soon. I'm not the best conversationalist and Talon likes to talk from what we saw at the bar.

Garrik listens to Talon start to talk while giving the others a look that seemed to say anytime now guys.

Subject: getting started

i second that vote. i'd like to see how the summoner works but i don't want anything that complicated to start out when learning a new rule set.

um, were exactly is the rest of the party when this is going on with the cleric. are we all starting at the temple, are we all meeting up with the cleric somewhere else, or are we starting scattered and all meeting up at the same location?

since the empire is funding this are they supplying us with traveling supplies such as horses, wagon, etc. or are we on our own to get supplies for the journey? i ask because if this is a longer trip than 5 days almost all of us will need to pick up trail rations and/or other supplies.

i think there is a possibility that we are dealing with a pixie/s. The items were all stolen one at a time if i read all the post right.if thieves were looking for something but wasn't sure what it was wouldn't they grab a bunch of stuff and then keep it to hawk it if it had any value at all.
i'm not sure if any of our characters would figure this out though since none of us are rangers or have knowledge nature.

Garrik has a ring of S. too. As long as moon cat is fine with the marching order i don't see a problem with it. I'll take first watch when we camp if that's alright.

By the way the second horse i have is tie to the back of the wagon and trailing it. I bought an extra in case one of ours got killed or when/if we find Bruno's family they could ride it together if there isn't room in the wagon for them.

I tried DDO too and there was no roleplay in it, which is sad for anything with Dungeon and Dragons in it's name.

"So everything that was stolen has been recovered and it's not broken or damaged? Sounds like a prankster or maybe a ghost could also be responsible then. Is there any chance we can examine the last item found so that we may examine it for traces of magic use or tampering?"

I wonder if there are any bored groups of kids around here wanting to be future rogues, or maybe a cemetery in the woods that a playful ghost could haunt from?

"Are there any grave sites or known last resting places of anyone in the woods?"

Zau looks back toward the group.

"Does anyone else have any other ideas? That's all I can think of right at the moment."

If you want Bruno near Talon because your pony is slower than the horses I personally don't see a problem with it.

If that's where you want Bruno at, where would you prefer Garrik be at? Front, back, across from Bruno, or something else entirely?

Anybody got any suggestions on their or anyone's positioning and/or role while guarding the wagon?

Those killer 'Roos were actually vampires. That's why the were going for your necks. And the 'Roos think that goats are good too. Good to the last drop that is.

Subject: Zau steps forward

Zau listens to Khetarin and D'artanian ask their questions.

That's a good start but there is still more that could be asked. I guess I'll have to talk to the officials then. How troublesome. I'd rather avoid talking to them.

Zau moves from the back of the group to the front to ask the mayor or sherrif, whoever seems to be taking the questions, some questions of his own.

"Are there any caves nearby too. Even if the town doesn't have city walls, a cave could be connected to a basement such as in a church or other bigger building in town. I guess it could be a smaller cave entrance/exit and be in a regular basement or even connected to someone's well too. Is the town completely surrounded by woods or are their any cliffs or hills nearby? Or old ruins? I understand you may have looked already but it wouldn't hurt for us to take another look at these places. We may have abilities not at your disposal."

"Your town wouldn't have happened to made a Druid or Ranger mad at you lately?"
(( OOC Zau only asks this if we find out its a druid or ranger spell being used. Either a knowledge Arcana or Spellcraft check can be used for this, right? If not I'll edit this out of the post. ))
