Thanks again. Its another good one.

Could someone who hasn't applauded him yet in here do so. It won't let me do it again.

If this much effort is going into character drawings, I can't wait to see what you are going to do with the comic.

Subject: Talon

I personally don't think the money is much of a concern. If we can find anything out about the gnolls and/or Bruno's family Garrik would think the trip was worth it even if we didn't get paid anything. Plus having a guide to Leafhaven we didn't have to pay for is nice.

I think Patrick should find out from Talon more about the Priestess and her dealings and find out what kinda business that Tomlin's fahter runs. We don't even know what kinda cargo he deals in right now. Garrik would be opposed to doing anything that would have a chance to hurt his family name or cause others suffering.

We might be able to help him with his business by investing and possibly get another source of income.
we all have more gold than he does by the way he said business was bad. And find out if its just the gnolls that are causing his trade to suffer or is it something else entirely.

Can anyone think of anything else we should let the party representative (Patrick) ask Talon?

Can somebody please get the official stuff rolling. I'll wait a few days and if nothing by then I guess I'll have to have Zau do some of the party representation stuff.

Physical Description: 5'8", 150 lbs or so, with dusty brown, short, messy hair. He has red eyes and reddish black skin. He has two small horns jutting out to the side, slightly angled forward, from just above his temples.
His dirty and stained traveler's clothes are worn and frayed along the edges. His thick, brown eyebrows loom sinisterly above his sunken eyes. His mangy and unkempt beard and mustache looks like a perfect home for lice and other parasites. His hands end in long red fingernails that almost look like claws. Most people would dismiss such a pitiful sight as a lowly bum and not give him a second thought.

He is a tiefling warlock/cleric. His name is Zau.
He carries a morningstar as his melee weapon and wears a mithral chain shirt under his traveler's clothes.

This should be interesting. And thanks in advance.

Garrik nods his head and says "Thanks. I was just making sure their wasn't anything we could have found here before we left. Don't worry we will do our best for your Father."

With that the Duskblade walks to the rest of the group and relays Tomlin's message about his father, and the need to make haste to the bar.

"We will bring you wife home to the safety of your village. And, Remember my promise. I keep my promises to the best of my ability." Isilifeline said to Bruno. Garrik adds, "We're your friends and we would never forsake you. Isilifeline is right. We will find your wife and help you bring her home."

Garrik listened to the conversation between Patrick and the young guard without interrupting.
Well I guess that solves the problem of getting a guide to Leafhaven. Seems like a good chance to earn some cash, maybe find something out about Bruno's family, and possibly a chance for a little sword and magery against some gnolls before we even get started on our main quest. Things are going well. Garrik just hoped things would stay that way. He didn't trust the Priestess. She was different, colder than the other Elves he knew. She seemed to be holding back on them, even disliking them, and the reasons weren't clear.

Patrick must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning to be so callous towards Bruno. He should have realized by now that it was tough for the halfling to share anything about his private life with them. I'm sure Bruno just didn't want to worry the rest of us and was trying to find out about his family without causing his friends any trouble. Patrick did do a nice job with the guard though. Getting a guide and paid work to Leafhaven was a good deal.

Garrik walks up to Patrick when he's alone right before he heads out.
"Try to be a little patient and understanding with Bruno Patrick. I'm sure worrying about his family has left him a mess emotionally and not thinking so clearly. He'll pull his weight when needed like he always does. Good work talking to the guard though. Getting us a guide to Leafhaven and info about some gnolls really helps out alot."

Hopefully Bruno would be able to keep his spirits up till we find out about his family. I just hope when we run into the gnolls we'll find out some good news, not bad. He didn't want to share that thought with Bruno. The halfling had enough of his own worries by now.

Garrik let Isilifeline finish talking to Tomlin before asking his questions. Looking around to make sure they weren't being watched, he whispers, "Is there anything you want to share with us about the priestess? Anything she may be hiding we should know? We promise to look after your father well and maybe even work for him cheaper if you have some good information about the Priestess for us. If you don't know yourself maybe their is another you trust around here that you believe knows more?"

Subject: plans

Sounds like a good plan for later, but i was wondering if anyone was going to try prying anything out of the mayor and sheriff.

Also, I was wondering if this town had sewer access, a river or creek that went through it, or if it had an aqua-duct that the thieves could possibly be using since no one has seen them come or go.Or maybe they flew in. or they're using invisibility.

Are there any towns quarreling with this one that could be sending the thieves to do their dirty work for them?

How many men does the sheriff have and are they going to help us? Has the mayor or his family and friends been robbed?

There's more questions but I can't think of them right now. I'd have Zau ask but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't get taken seriously or wouldn't get a favorable answer because of his appearance.

will anything out of the magic item compendium be available at later levels or are we going to stick to those 4 books?

Will our characters be able to us their gold to research spells from the spell compendium to add to their spell lists later on?

might as well ask about feats while i'm at it. are we going to have access to other books for our feat selections when we level up?

and was that first game post of Garrik's ok?

so i take it that all the scattered pieces didn't find anything out before they mashed back together when meeting the mayor.

Did Zau find anything interesting using his detect magic ability?

yeah, game post!

and none of us died!

I'm not sure where to go with this game post so I'll let someone more official looking, acting, etc. handle things.

Topic: Throne of the Phantom King
Subject: What's that halfling up to now?

Garrik listens to the priestess's short explanation and her rushed send off and stands around for a second wondering if that was really all she was going to say to the group.

Apparently it was because she walked off and left them standing there with the gold and the little information she had given.

"Is that really all she has to say to us on what sounds like such an important job?" he says to no one in particular.

Noticing the halfling following the priestess Garrik decides to follow just in case of any trouble and to find out what Bruno was up to.

From Bruno he hears “I am sorry your... holiness? I was hoping that I might talk to you in private for only a few minutes.” “I am bad at talking, so I will get right to the point. My wife has recently been taken from me. Gnoll slavers are supposedly the reason she is no longer in the safety of my village. As it is, I was wondering if instead of gold, you may instead give me some sort of aid in locating her? Please!”

Then the cold voice of the priestess cuts in "You've yet to even set off on the mission that you have been given, yet you make requests of me? You may have proven your worth in past times with the Governor, but you have proven nothing to me as of yet other than that you do not yet know your place. If money is unimportant to you, why not spread your wealth amongst the commoners of Garthraike or anywhere else your travels lead you to glean information from them. I would start with the traveling merchants of Garthraike and Leafhaven. They would at least know where to find gnolls or any other creature for that matter. Now please leave and take the money that's offered to you. On this long trip you'll need it for one thing or another, for nothing comes without a price."

Hearing the failed attempt of getting information of Bruno's wife and child, Garrik heads back to the rest of the group. "There's nothing that can be done to help poor Bruno at this point" he thinks to himself.

When the duskblade rejoins the rest of the group he asks " So should we head to Leafhaven right away, or do we gather some info, and last minute supplies here in town before we head out. Jaspina doesn't sound like she is going to be of anymore help to us at all".

After a short pause he adds "I wonder if Leafhaven has any taxes, tariffs, gate fees, or any customs and laws we need to worry about".

Subject: details

before i post in game, can we get some more info on the priestess such as race, description, and any possible holy symbols on her. And/or what kinda temple(i'm assuming temple 'cause of the priestess) are we in?

And by the post we have traveled together for five yrs so my guy is either 23 now or started adventuring at 13. If we have Patrick is my best friend in game(spell storing greatsword + inflict wounds) and i have a crush on the Isilifeline, if thats ok(with Briana and you.the elf heritage is the partial cause and i'm assuming she is the first full elf Lady he ever met).

I would like to help Bruno with his diplomacy check and since we are such close friends i'd say i knew the halfling wouldn't ask for help in public so i followed him and overheard his conversation with the priestess. If i can't aid another for Bruno, I'll post Garrik asking the priestess on his behalf. My guy is NG afterall.

Topic: It's time to hand out the pink Shirt now
Subject: a girl started it

it was actually a girl in the group that started handing out the pink shirt. before that we said neon yellow.

she was playing a succubus fighter and got tired of strike's character hanging back and not helping(in her opinion). she made fun of his manhood (even though he was half-dragon/elf i think) and then said you should be wearing a pink shirt instead.

one of the other group members ended up dating her for awhile (in RL) and if he wasn't brave and manly (in game) he got a pink shirt from her. another funny thing was their initials for their first names were D & D.
