As soon as i get a character sheet completed I'll pm one. Its harder to just go with stuff from the 2 P.H.s and D.M.G.s than I thought it would be for the duskblade.
Gestalts are out of Unearthed Arcana. I haven't played a non-gestalt in awhile.

I was thinking of playing a human, fighter2/duskblade8,just a human duskblade 10,or dwarf duskblade 10(outcast among his kind).
Why a duskblade? In a non-gestalt game they sound the most like a red mage.

well if they don't know anything about magic they might not know i'm even using a spell since all of them have a range of touch or are self only.mage armor is an invisible but tangible field of force.guidance doesn't say it emits any kind of light or effect either.same with expeditious retreat.
unless they have spellcraft they might not know the man who looks like a crazy bum is casting anything at all.
and my guy is CHAOTIC neutral. like he would care if the magic is illegal or not. and arresting the group trying to help them wouldn't be the smartest way to solve their problems.
My guy is off to gather whatever information he can from the locals that he associates with as stated in the last Game post.

i have one evil i liked to play. he was a anti-paladin. this was before the one in dragon mag was published. he was a homebrew class my DM downloaded.he was human. He had unholy blight always on. He had a +5 vorpal unholy avenger. And he had the largest Dire wolf i have ever seen in game as a mount. He had to fight anyone of opposite alignment whenever he detected one. This was accomplished by a detect like abilty that was always active(spider senses, as the dm would say).
He was the child of Lg paladin(heironeous) and a lg cleric(Pelor). his mother didn't know she was pregnant when they fought some high level outsiders. somehow that magic corrupted their child. He was exiled at a young age with his only friend Kip(rogue CE), who was the son of a cleric(heironeous)who suffered the same fate.
We did too many evil things to list them all.
We once burned down an entire village in the pattern of an evil gods symbol. We killed a young prince's family in front of him and tortured him till he was out royal puppet. We got to drown a paladin in holy water.he couldnt escape the grapple of a storm giant/half dragon that was in the group(all but my character and kip were monstrous somehow). his temple was then destroyed by dark speech, his body mutilated, cursed, and thrown down a well filled with unholy water. Thats just some of the highlights.
"I saw the Light, so i stabbed it!"
The group kinda imploded with all the evil pcs going after each other later on. somehow my guy was the sole survivor.
i don't play over the top evil anymore after this character.

Is it abuse for a CLERIC to use DM granted abilities to help BUFF party members AC prior to any kind of encounter? As far as we know this whole invitation to town could be a trap.
Mage armor isn't an all powerful game changing spell. It doesn't stack with other armor bonuses.Mage armor is Zau's domain spell from the spell domain(spell compendium 3.5).
and guidance(orison) is at most a +1 useable once.
I'm not trying to sell spells or break the game by making sure some characters have, at the most, 4 extra AC. Most characters it won't grant any AC to other than touch attack.
I was using them to show Zau's love for spells(spell domain) and having him run (expeditious retreat) to show his other cleric focus(celerity domain). His base speed is 40 because of it.
The warlock could use his own powers without 'abusing' any rules and cause alot more trouble than using any of those spells.
By the way, was the smithy's name Keygen(), Deucalion?

guidance is level 0 and the other spells I used were the unlimited domain spells we were just given. I'm not 'wasting' anything.
My guy has spell as a domain so using spells alot fits into his cleric beliefs.

"How about you handle all the official b.s. meet and greet town official stuff? You should know by now our group really doesn't do the whole long, drawn out planning stuff. I'm off to see if the poor we were told about that were robbed have any useful information. If I found out anything I'll just find everyone at the town's biggest bar.I'm sure thats were some will be later anyways.", Zau says to Khet before running off in the direction of town.
Zau keeps up the spell crazy stuff he has been at since the wagon left. He touches anyone in the group who doesn't object with guidance on the way past everyone.
"We need to hurry and get this job over and done so I can get some money to drink again.", he yells while running.

Where is the clothing shop. I'll find some magical clothing for Zau. He doesn't want to be cut down by Leo. He looked like he was serious this time. Is there somewhere he can wash his beard at. Zau said lice don't taste good.
by the way, doesn't anyone think its strange no town official has shown up after all the weird stuff the townspeople saw us do when we got out of the wagon?

How about giving the other classes some more skill points or a free feat to balance out the clerics getting something?
In a high powered campaign extra feats and skill points always help.Our(strike and my)previous DM ran nothing but high powered for the last 5 years or so.

Subject: not hungover
While on the way to the town Zau starts muttering to himself in a mix of abyssal and common. He sits down, legs crossed in front of him with his back against the side of the wagon. Sometimes it looks like he is arguing and at other times it appears that he is praising someone or something, and at other times it looks and sounds like he is cursing something or someone. After about an hour of this strange behavior he looks like he drifts back to sleep.
Waking back up when the cart stops Zau automatically activates the warlock invocation devils sight and sits up real quick and uses detect magic(at will) ability. Realizing that it just stopped because they reached their destination and not because they were under attack, he slowly makes his way out the back of the cart before it starts off down the road.
After getting out of the cart Zau starts running back and forth while practicing somatic components of spells without actually casting anything. While wearing the Mithral Chain he casts mage armor on himself.
Zau, finally fully awake, makes a scan of the surrounding area just to be on the safe side. (OOC search,spot,detect magic)
He says to the hobgoblin and D'art after he stops his sword dancing,"Did either of you notice anything odd or weird since we got here? I've been kinda busy up till now."
He didn't address Nef because he looked busy concentrating on a spell.
D'art shakes his head at him while looking disgusted and walks away in the direction of town. D'art says something to Kordar but Zau wasn't paying attention after the wrinlked nose affair.
Even using his warlock granted magical sight Zau has trouble ever noticing where the two drow always disappear to. "By the way, did anyone see where the silent-er drow went?", he says to the two group members still nearby.
Rath could have noticed something but its hard to hear the drow when they have when they seem to somehow communicate with just their hands. It wouldn't be the first time one or both of them went off on their own to ambush someone who would never know what hit them.
"I have a feeling he is off hunting without us.", he says with a slight chuckle. He then cast expeditious retreat on himself before running around and casting mage armor on anyone who was still in the area the he could find and that was willing to have it cast on them.
((I didn't mention Khet because i didn't want to guess what he was doing or where he was at before Deucalion gets a chance to post and tell us.))

Zau arrived last, as usual, still smelling of strong liquor from the late night outing to his regular bar The Drunken Priest. Standing in the first spot Leo would see, so kindly left to him by the other party members, Zau sighs loudly and prepares for the tongue lashing that Leo seems to enjoy giving him. I'm too hung over for this crap so early in the day,he thinks to himself.
As soon as the rest of the group breaks up and prepares to depart Zau says to no one in particular,"I'm going to split from the group once we get there and so what information i can get from the poor and downtrodden. I can find out from them much easier than any of you what has been stolen and if it may be important to the mission or not." He then adds as an afterthought, "You know that's why Leo really tolerates how I look, don't you?
Having nothing else to say to the group since no one has directly spoken to him, Zau heads to the wagons casting Orisons randomly for no apparent reason. He then stops walking suddenly with a sly grin on his face and walks up to the Hobgoblin and casts mage armor. He thinks to himself, with this I can make this monk(??) more effective in keeping me alive once the fighting starts. Now if only i could make Everyone faster, hmmm......
He then continues on back to the wagon in deep thought and as if nothing had happened.

does this mean that i don't have to pick between which domain spell to prepare? do i have access to both unlimited or just unlimited use of the one that is normally prepared? and does that apply to all levels of the domain spells when they become available?
