Hey, he isn't looking for conflict, just doesn't like others addressing him in such a manner. What can I say, he is an elf.

If you want to rein in the haughty Mage might I suggest a leader start giving orders.

“Alôndas stop! Think about your actions fully, anything in this room could be trapped! Honestly in this whole place every little thing could mean doom for us. We need to allow Wembley to investigate this room first.”

Alôndas turned and glared at Crow; he thought his countryman would know better than to speak to him in such a tone.

“Worry about yourself, Maithias!” he said turning back to look at the bottle, “this is obviously a wine cellar and I don't think every bottle in this room is trapped. If you see me opening a door or chest without caution then you may worry, but do not speak to me again in such a manner. You are not leader here and until you are do not presume to give me orders.”

He went back to examining the label of the wine bottle he held.

The table in the back is occupied by an elderly elven scholar wearing heavy clothing. She has dyed red hair and a deeply shadowed face. She is reading something.

“Milady,” a soft, distinguished voice said to the elderly Elven woman seated at a table in the back, “would you mind if I joined you?”

Suddenly, as if he had simply appeared there, standing before the table was a tall elderly gentleman in white leaning slightly on his long stave as he waited for her response. He towered over the table, standing about 6 1/2' tall; his long white flowing robe sweeping the floor. The man had long snow white hair which stretched down and intermingled with his long beard, reaching down near his knees. The man's face was soft and had a gentle smile upon his lips; he raised an eyebrow as he gestured to the chair opposite the table from her.

Alôndas stepped through the portal and was amazed at the seamless transition of the transportation.

“Fascinating!”

He took two steps slowly forward and to the side to clear the opening so that the others could come through without hindrance. He stood there, staff in hand, and waited till everyone had arrived; while he waited he observed the room closely.

“It appears to be a wine cellar,” he said aloud as the others looked around the room, “at least no undead here that can be seen.”

Walking over to one of the racks he reaches out and lifts a bottle gently off of the shelf and dusts it off looking for a label.

I dont know how many books there are on the subjects, but I had posted that Alôndas did pick up and take tomes) on Pixies and other magical creatures. The DM's post could mean that there are multiple volumes on the subjects though.

Meeting with Mad Dog Muldoon
World of Aihrde
Region of Aachen
City of Heristat
Toothless Dragon Tavern
Early Evening on Monday
Marrero 15, 101awd (After Winter Dark)

Amur listened to the new party member, Damar an elvin ranger, speak of the mission they had been on and how he lost the other members of his party. The young boy was glued to the story and remained silent as he slowly munched on the delicious delicacies provided by their host.

Later, after the group meeting/feast began to break up, Amur caught a short moment with Damar and approached him when he caught the Ranger alone.

“My Pardon sire,” the boy said and appeared to give a little bow, “I am Amur, the .. ah.. guess ya could call me the lock and trap specialist.” He grinned. “I just want to say it will be a pleasure to adventure with ya and I will try not to let the yall down.”

He waited a moment for a reply and then simply nodded and left the hall.

Some time later

When the group had finished their purchases and had gathered to discuss their next destination when they shipped out tomorrow, Amur was quiet and let the others throw out possible destinations. If asked where he thought they should go he simply shrugged, “Any of them places are fine; I think adventure awaits no matter what.” He gave his, what was becoming typical, little grin.

The day before they shipped out, Amur checked around and found a secure courier that could be trusted. He paid to send his remaining funds (200gp I believe) off to the Orphanage of the Red Buttons in Eluythus; he sent a simple unsigned note with the payment that said only 'Thanks!'

When the ship was ready to depart, the boy had all his things packed in his single drawstring bag which he slung over his shoulder. Dressed in his new armor, now adorned with the Red Buttons from his old armor, and wearing his new weapons and purchases, the young boy called simply Amur of the Red Buttons stepped about the ship ready for further adventure.

(OOC: Sorry on not having a detailed time-line for the last part of this post but all the Interludes and posts have thrown me off and I am not sure what is what at the moment. )

Subject: Observations

From near the fireplace, the tall white haired man observed the room quietly, his hands steepled before him as he appeared to be studying those assembled here. He noticed the Mith'ganni in the shadows who appeared to be 'observing' the room as well.

The branches that had sprung from his simple wooden chair appeared to be slowly growing further as they twisted around the man where he sat; it appeared that the branches were beginning to sprout blossoms of little white flowers that were opening slowly here and there. A few of the patrons had taken notice and pointed it out to their companions and mutterings began about the strange looking sight.

When he caught the eye of the Mith'ganni, the old smiled slightly and lifted his tankard with his right hand; he nodded toward Nyx and lifted his tankard in a toast before taking a drink and then returned the container to the table top once more.

The old man then turned to survey the room once again as if hoping something here would pique his interest; when his head turned his long hair parted and the tip of a pointed ear protruded. This was a strange sight to any who might have observed it; the man appeared to be human in all other respects but his ears were elven in shape.

Ah ok. I was a little confused about direction. Well now he wont go back the way they came in.

So, hmmm. He will try the South one, if that one is one of the magical portals?

No problem then, just thought it wasnt clear that if Mal wanted to stop him he had time to do so.

So, since no one has stopped him, He went ahead and did it. North Portal.

Well, unless someone stops Alôndas, he will go thru the North Portal in the first room. That was the one he approached earlier when he was in this room.

I would like to point out that my character asked if anyone objected and I posted that if no one did then he would enter the portal. If you don't want him to enter it then have your character speak up. All you have to do is say, "WAIT!" and he will.

Now, if you dont want to go through one of these portals, do you have a suggestion on another exit from these rooms?

As the rats came into the doorway it seemed for a minute that the cleric’s efforts were not working; Alôndas readied a spell and was about to rush forward and burn the rats then and there before they could swarm his companions but then the undead stopped and began to spasm and then fell to the cold floor. He sighed and relaxed as Mal stepped forth and took the head of the undead cat with one fell swipe.

“Well,” the mage said as he stepped forward to enter the room, “that wasn’t so hard. Good Job Priests, and you too Mal.”

Alôndas stepped in and began to search the table and shelves for anything useful or magical; he looked up as Wembley stepped up and opened the door. He started to shout a warning but saw he was too late, but it seemed there was nothing to worry about as it was only a closet with what looked like very dead skeletons inside. He shook his head at the recklessness of Cidals and went back to checking all of the papers and books in the room.

Finding nothing useful remained, it looked like someone had ransacked the room already, he sighed but did pocket a couple of small tomes on pixies and other mythical creatures; they might be good reading later.

“Well,” he turned to the rest of the party, “Looks like our only choices are the portals; as I suggested in the first place.” The last was said with a softer, though slightly arrogant, tone as if he had known it would come to this in the end.

“Might I suggest we use the one in the first room,” He said and without waiting he walked back into the other room and over to the portal, “If there are no objections, I will volunteer to go first.”

If no one objects, he steps up to the portal and reaching out a hand he gently touches the surface and then sticks his hand inside testing the feeling and then, after a moment’s hesitation, he walks forth moving into the portal till he feels it tug at him to complete the process.

(OOC: His Armor spell should still be in effect, at least till he takes the damage (9pts) required to remove it. He is mentally prepared for trouble and has a spell in mind, Burning Hands, in case he is attacked upon arrival, though he doesn’t really expect that will be the case. )

Well my character would look a lot like Gandalf The White or perhaps more like Saruman the White, just his beard and hair are even longer and stretch down past his knees. His staff if made from some golden wood and his whole demeanor has a more 'Natural' feel to it; if you know what I mean.

Being who he is, he does know of Nyx's people, since they are nomads and elves, but he wouldnt know your character himself. His reaction at seeing Nyx is just his mild surprise at seeing one of the rare breed being there in that Inn.

Alôndas was glad that no one wanted to 'torch' the room with the undead animals; the creatures were small and they should be able to deal with them without destroying the room and possibly endangering them all. Hearing talk of turning the undead and using normal weapons, the Mage quickly cast a spell and a faint glow surrounded him hugging him like armor. Once he was done casting, he took up a position towards the rear of the group to let the fighters enter the room before he would move up to the doorway to assist.

(OOC: He will cast Armor on himself and if the others enter the room then he will move into the doorway where he can support them. If any undead make it to him, he will use his staff to defend himself.)

Subject: New Arrival

The door opened and a gentle breeze drifted into the Bleeding Lute; the doorway was filled with a tall figure, over 6 and a half feet tall, dressed totally in white. A man with a flowing white hair, beard and mustache, which all blended together and reached down past his waist almost to the knees. The full length robe he wore was of the purest unblemished white with snow white flowers woven into his shoulders and running down the sleeves. The man's face was old and wrinkled yet had a youthful appearance that was hard to describe; clear icy blue eyes gazed out to take in the occupants of the room. The only non-white thing on the figure, making it seem out of place, was a tall wooden stave in his left hand; the wood had a golden hue and the headpiece curved around on itself into a spiral at least 8” in diameter.

The Band stopped playing as they and other patrons all turned to stare towards the doorway; it was then in that silence that a faint musical tone could be heard. The tune was soft and drifted on the air to fill the room with a comforting melody which made most people feel enlightened and uplifted.

The figure stepped into the room and the door behind it closed, seemingly of it's on accord, as the man walked further into the room and slowly made his way through the throng of people towards the fireplace. There he pauses to look around the room for a second and then settles himself down on a chair sitting just to the side of the mantle. As he sits a change begins to take place in the simple wooden chair; new branches sprout and grow rapidly moving out and up and within moments the simple chair is transformed into a natural looking wooden throne whose branches caress and support it's occupant.

Sarah shakes herself out of her torpor and walks over to the man, her face clearly showing her trepidation at approaching such a strange figure.

“Ah,” she manages to say, “wha'll ya have?”

The man looks at her and a gentle smile comes slowly to his lips, “A mug of your finest Honey Mead if you please.” His voice had a musical quality making it sound as if he were singing each word when he spoke.

Sarah returned the smile and suddenly she didn't feel any apprehension and walked away to get his drink.

The old man looked around the room, as he reached out with his left hand and set his stave up next to his 'chair'; a couple of branches uncurled and wrapped around the stave and held it in place after he released it.

The band started to play again as the occupants of the room returned to their drinking and merriment; the old man's icy gaze scanned the room and paused as it past over the figure of a Twilight Elf here in the Bleeding Lute. A lone raised eyebrow was the only sign of recognition before the sight was blocked by the return of Sarah with the mug of honey mead.

Alôndas stared into the room over the shoulders of the others gathered in front of him; he saw and recognized that the cat and the rats were now undead and saw their gaze turn towards the party.

“Definitely the work of a Necromancer,” he said softly as Wembley closed the door again.

As others spoke of entering the room, and perhaps of leaving the room alone he considered his magic options.

“I could burn the room from the doorway,” he said apprehensively, “but I would hate to do that as a first option. There is a lot of flammable stuff in that room and I could set the whole room ablaze. It would not be good for us without an easy way to extinguish it.”

“Besides,” he said as his gaze widened, “those shelves in there could contain magic tomes, which could be very dangerous, and a shame, to destroy. Who knows what knowledge might be contained in those volumes.”

The Mage waited to see what decision was made on how to deal with the room of undead pets.

Later that afternoon, back at the Toothless Dragon Tavern, Amur had gone up to his room and dressed out in his new Armor. He was surprised at how well it fit; the belts and straps pulled it in so it fit snugly and tight to his body just the way he liked it.

Going down to the common area he told the others, any who happen to be gathering here to drink and eat perhaps, of his good fortune in finding the shoppe, Abalore’s Arms & Armor. He told them excitedly all about the encounter, telling of how the old man seemed to be connected to Mad Dog or perhaps was once in Mad Dog’s employ. How he told of things that they might encounter on their journey; of the wondrous things displayed in his shop.

Amur spoke as only an excited teenage boy can about things he found there and even displayed his new acquisitions; his new Special Leather armor and his new hand crossbow, which is was anxious to test out. That evening after dinner, he would find a place to fire it a few times and get the hang of it now rather than try and do it later in battle.

If any asked him he would gladly give directions to the place, but he would mention that they should indeed take their eye patches with them if they wanted a good deal.

(OOC: He does tell them everything he can remember about the place, perhaps something he seen would be of benefit to the group later on their journey or even help decide where they should go later. Also, he will try and find a place, a practice yard or perhaps Mad Dog has one, where he can fire a few shots with his new crossbow till he has the hang of it and practice hitting with it.)

Having availed himself of some of the hard cheese, bread and just a little bit of the wine; Alôndas sighed when he heard talk of moving on.

"I still ain't likin' the idea of goin' through that portal.... At least with the door, we know we won't be popped into some room, totally surrounded by gods know what.... Though I do be thinkin' that Wembley there might consider checkin' the door fer traps and the like..." He says, eyeing the Cidal with a half-grin.

"Whaddya say, mate? Care to make sure our road be clear?"

He rose and hefted his stave preparing to leave the room with the others; he thought of once again voicing his opinion of using the portal but he sensed it would fall on deaf ears. He had already spoken and no one else seemed to agree with him. Besides, their appointed leader, per say, had made the decision and he felt compelled to follow.

Therefore, when the group gathered near the door, the Mage took up a position near the middle where he could observe and stand ready with his magic to assist and/or protect if necessary.

Topic: Treasure Seekers
Subject: Purchases

Amur was glad to be back on dry land, even though he didn’t throw up at all on the return voyage; maybe he was finally getting his sea legs, at least he hope that was the case. He was overjoyed that on their first mission they had been triumphant; and he had to admit it had been very exciting. He hadn’t thought that risking your life for gold could be so fulfilling. He knew that he would be sticking with the Seekers as long as it was as exciting.

After spending two weeks recovering and resting, Amur was ready for when they were summoned to Mad Dog’s for a a banquet and hopefully word of their next mission. The young boy was stunned by the opulence of the hall and all of it’s furnishings. He partook heavily of the food and even drank some of the spirits, though he didn’t drink too much as he didn’t like how sick it made him when he did.

He listened intently when Mad Dog spoke to them and offered them 5,000 gold, then he spoke of future work and offered them a chance to buy equipment for the journey. Amur looked carefully through the gear and picked out some items:

- Silver Bolt for Cross Bow / 1 Gold Coin per Silver Bolt (100)
- Silver Lead Ball for Sling / 1 Gold Coin per Silver Ball (100)
- Silver Elf Long Sword (Wide Silver Pattern Etched in Blade) /Damage 1d10 +2 /2,000 Gold Coins (1)
- Wand of Cure Serious Wounds (25 Charges) /3d8 /2,500 Gold Coins (1)
- Potion of Cure Light Wounds (5 Servings) /1d8 /300 Gold Coins (1)
- (Spent: 5,000 gp)

He was disappointed that Mad Dog didn’t have any armor that he could use; he looked at the Elvin chain but decided it would restrict his movements and possibly hinder his ‘abilities’ so he passed on that. He did manage to spend all of the 5,000 gold that Mad Dog had paid them but he still had the 500 gold left from the reward for the missing Stout Hearts.

The next day after the banquet, Amur went out on the town and found a shop that sold armor and weapons. Before walking in, he made sure this eye patch was on; he thought his connection to Mad Dog might garner him a little advantage in pricing on his purchases. He looked around and inquired about leather armor, something special, and also he wanted some kind of Light Crossbow, possibly a one-handed crossbow like he had seen once. He had purchased some silver bolts from Mad Dog and needed something with which to shoot them.

(OOC: Ok, need a small lt. crossbow, hopefully a hand crossbow, and some type of special leather armor that will be suitable and beneficial for his ‘position’. Let me know if he finds anything. If nothing here, he will try other shops till he finds something. He had the 500 gp and will try to get it all for that, if possible. Hopefully the eye patch will help. )
