Being the thief of the bunch I imagine that greed is my greatest motivator.

So then, you have no objection to someone buying their missing equipment and say stashing the rest as long as we have 0gp on them when we get underway?

I have no problem Rping the purchases either way. Looking forward to the start of the game; so when do you think that might be?

If we are getting 50gp right off the bat, why cant you just say 'This is what you had to start with, the rest will cost you ____gp with your starting money' ?

Also, I also had put the Ruins at Broken fingers on my short list of places, so make that two votes for it.

All our characters being 1st level and just starting out, it would seem unlikely many of them would know each other unless they are from the same town/city. But then I guess it would be up to each of us with consent from the Castle Keeper of course.

As for my character, I think with his background and profession it would be a stretch that he would know any of the other characters. Besides, I like the idea of learning about each other through Rping.

Tann - In the Recruitment thread Hammer says, “Your Character Originates in an area no further north of Heristat than to the Detmold Forest, no further west than to the coast of the Sea of Shenal, no further east than the Voralberg Mountains and no further south than the City of Eluythus.” According to the map, that area is the Aachen area so our characters were born here and have never left here, yet.

I have submitted my character 1st draft to the Castle Keeper.

Most of this system is similar to AD&D but with minor differences, hopefully none of those will trip me up.

I await the changes I will probably have to make to the character.

I was a proud veteran
That served my country well
To those that would listen
I had many stories to tell.

We fought for America’s freedom
In faraway places on foreign land.
Wherever the battle for democracy raged,
America’s finest made a stand.

We fought for your future
And the right to remain free.
For we saw what freedom meant
To those not blessed with Liberty.

For you and yours
We would gladly have given our life.
We face the fears and perils of battle
We braved endless turmoil and strife.

Please remember us veterans
And the sacrifices we made for you.
Please share the blessings of freedom,
Proudly wave the red, white and blue.

Tiamat,

I saw you mention that you have a chat based live game that you run here. Can you give me some details? Day/time/timezone? How long does a gaming session last? What system are you using? Level? Any certain class of character you need?

I am interested, depending on these details. Thanks!

I have every intention of throwing my money on the table as soon as I find a game which I can join.

I might PM a couple of DMs for games, which have peaked my interest, to see if they might have room for me.

I know I am new and unproven but I hope someone will give me a chance to prove my abilities.

Thank you all for the warm welcoming. I am glad to see a lot of 2nd edition people here; seems we are a dying breed.

I see the game you mentioned Duncan74 but it seems the recruitment for that game has closed. I will keep my eyes on the recruitment threads for something that strikes my fancy.

I will be reading in the meantime.

Hello Red Dragon Inn. My name is Michael, AKA Archangel. I have been lurking about for a couple weeks now reading and seeing the games going on here and thought I would finally register and make my presence known.

I am an old RPer from way back in the Original D&D days when I was a little tike of 10 y/o, I graduated to Basic and then on to the Best version ever, 2nd Edition AD&D. I have dabbled with the latter versions but have found them to lack some of the true Role-play feeling of the 2nd Edition.

Anyway, I have been away from playing for a few years, my latest group of players, and there have been many through the years, has gone their separate ways with Real Life intruding upon their gaming time. So I have been seeking a place where maybe I can RP and get back that old feeling I got from RPing once again.

I have tried a few other sites, most I have found to be a bit too strict on silly rules, like having a character approved by the head of the forum before you can even post anything? Well, like I said I have been lurking about and reading for a few weeks here and like what I see. RDI seems more laid back and more about RPing and having fun than rules which are only meant to “allow only the best RPers to play” as one forum’s webmaster said to me; like they are best judge of who is the best RPers.

Therefore I wish to declare that I am here to seek out a game, preferably a 2nd Edition AD&D, but I am open to others though I may not be familiar with the system or have the required books, etc. I have played many other systems throughout the years, i.e. Gamma World, Travellers, Battletech, Champions, Gangbusters, Shadowrun, Serenity, etc. Too many to name them all, frankly I would be hard pressed to remember all that I have played.

So I will be lurking about and keeping an eye on the recruitment section in search of a game. Keep up the great RPing, it gives me something to read.

Well Met!

Michael
