Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Sick Bay - 0850

After a couple hours of reviewing records and downing a pot of weak tea, Dr. Moore had the makings of a fine team pulled together.

She updated the roster and sent a report PO Cook. The newly added staff included a Yeoman Toriak, and three nurses with general practitioner to specialty areas of nursing and medicine Peter Adama being the highest on the list according to Dr. Moore.

Contacting the computer to locate Chief Thorson and Chief Tesenblen, the chime came in followed by a wheezing sigh.

=/= ~wheeze~ Bridge to Lieutenant Moore. =/=

Tapping her communicator, she replied. "Yes, Moore here."

=/= We received updates regarding the diplomatic mission. ~wheeze~ Kuldar and Rytain ambassadors are joining the ship for the duration of the escort. We may need to update facilities of allergies and medical needs. =/=

With a few taps at the PADD, she brought up the ship's roster noting names. "Thank you for the update, bridge. Please inform Lieutenant Lasad we are gathering data and will send a report to operations."

=/= ~wheeeeeeeze~ Acknowledged. =/=

She raised her brows, intrigued by the suddenly long sighing wheeze. "I wonder if she needs a review of her respirator. Or...something else must be happening. Time to wander offices!"

Taking up her PADD, Dr. Moore left her office and sick bay to seek hydroponics and Chief Tesenblen who hopefully would be less busy than engineering this early in the morn. As the doors slid open, she spied pods with plants, various studies in progress, and a young woman working intently over a test of plants and microscope.

As the doors closed, the woman rose to come across giving the doctor a rather quick review. The marks on her neck earned a question of, "Sir?"

"Ah sorry to intrude on your work, but I am seeking Chief Tesenblen. This is hydroponics? Oh my manners, Dr. Moore, I'm your new medical chief."

Lauren blinked and nodded, catching herself before showing surprise. "Ensign Crane. Yes, this is hydroponics, but the Lieutenant is in Science Lab 2. I can direct you." With a few quick words and motioning to a map on a PADD, the doctor was off again, scientist hunting.

Soon enough another set of doors slid open revealing a grand sight of growing things. "Ah, science lab 2 indeed! It's a actual garden."

Moving further into the space, eager to look over everything yet unwilling to accidentally blunder into something dangerous or delicate. "Good day, Lieutenant Tesenblen?" Louise shoved her hands into the pocket of her teal labcoat, wandering to find the elusive scientist.

Subject: Today in Sick Bay

((First post written with Boo Boo/PO Cook! Sorry if long, but good stuff.))

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Sick Bay - 0650

There before the head nurse was a rather unassuming woman with laugh lines, a scattering of silvering in her hair, and a steaming cup of tea. She wore the typical uniform of a starfleet doctor, doctor's coat over, with the insignia of lieutenant. A PADD and setting of what smelled like tea settled on the desk before her.

Seeing the stocky, strong woman enter, bright and well presented, with a clear voice, she already felt this ship was in good hands. Rising, she came around to the taller nurse offering a hand in welcome.

"Ah so very good to meet you, Head Nurse Cook, unless you prefer I call you by another title or name? In Sick Bay, I tend to call folk what they wish. We spend so much time together, thicker than thieves as they say. And I was so hoping we would have a chance to chat before a line of crewman came in from their shore leave. Even an hour can wreck merry havoc with the eager kind. Oh my manners, I'm Doctor Louise Moore. A pleasure indeed." She spoke with an obvious accent, British and fluid, cadence calm and welcoming.

Without really trying Dana found she liked the woman immediately. Her manner seemed very friendly and her willingness to be more informal in the Sick Bay was a plus in her eyes.

"If you like you may call me Dana or PO Cook" she said with a faint smile, "Do you prefer your Title or Rank?"

Louise let the smile warm further retaking her seat and welcoming Dana to a seat across from her. "Louise among us, dear Dana, or Dr. Moore in other mixed and higher company. I hear Lieutenant and wonder who walked in! I've always been a doctor first, all the military ranks came along on their own."

Taking a sip of tea, she waited for Dana to snag her own cup of whatever she liked. "As to my arrival, well, I honestly am unsure of what came about with Dr. Synklar. I do hope to continue on good efforts, working together. Whatever new assignment he is on, I am sure it is to help Starfleet. So tell me about yourself, Dana, and our grand ship."

"Very well Dr. Moore," Dana replied and then added, "I mean Louise." Just having met this woman it was hard to call her by her first name but if that is what she wanted that was fine. Just between them of course.

Dana didn't know why the sudden ship in the CMO and CTO positions so she didn't add anything as it would only be speculations otherwise.

"Well the Peregrine is a fabulous ship," Dana said, "at least I think so." She added a smile and shrugged.

"I have only been aboard about 18 months now but I find it to be a wonderful assignment," as she spoke she sort of look around the room as if examining it for the first time, "I have been stationed in larger commands before but I think the smaller vessels have a better 'comradeship' to the crew."

She refocused on the Doctor and chuckled, "Just my personal thoughts Sir."

"As for me," she shifted uncomfortably in her stance for a moment, "I come from a Star Fleet family and have always wished to serve. I love caring for people but I don't mind butting a few heads together if the need is there. I can always patch them up afterwards." She laughed then straightened her stance.

"I hope to serve you as well as my previous CMO," she said with pride in her voice, "I will try to make sure the rest of the medical staff do their jobs as well. Petty Officer Bachman and Nurse Patel are a little ... well they're so green they are probably capable of Photosynthesis." She smiled a little at what amounted to a joke from PO Cook.

"Do you have any orders sir?" She asked finally knowing that they had to get down to business at some point. Dana wasn't used to standing around and just chatting unless it was only a drink and tea didn't count in her book.

The wee joke brought a chuckle in return from the doctor. "We were all green once. Having them paired with more senior members, with a few small projects to them would be a fine way of giving them experience." Then she asked of orders, standing tall, straight, ready for action. Can't say I blame her. Sitting still can be such a chore.

"Indeed, Dana. I'm sure the records could use some sprucing. We should have a work up of the crew, updated physicals and samples, and the like. I would also like to look over those reports a bit more closely for a..." She moved over the PADD, tapping through to a report. "Thorson and a pod with some pulse of energy. The reports look to have no issues found. Was sick bay consulted with the Science team to look over the pod and logs?"

"Pairing up the less experienced with the more experienced is a good idea," Dana told her, "but counting you and I there are only 4 staff in the Medical department. As I am sure you are aware."

Dana sighed slightly before continuing, "I have taken Nurse Patel under my wing and he has shown some good improvement. Lab Specialist Bachmann is a bit of a loner it seems and due to his work in the lab I don't get to spend as much time with him as I would like. I believe Lt. Synklar was working with him on improving his performance. I don't know the progress unfortunately."

"As for the records," Dana went on, "they are in pretty good shape I think. But if you have suggestions for improvements once you see them then I would eagerly listen. Now the crew could use updates on their physicals and we have had turnovers so we should indeed do use some work-ups on them definitely."

When she mentioned Thorson and the Pod Dana shook her head, "As far as I know there was no request made to Medical in regards to the Pod or it's contents." She sounded a little put off with that fact as if she too thought they should have be consulted.

"If you like, " she continued, "I can start scheduling physicals for the crew and may I suggest we start with the newly arrived personnel." She seemed eager to do something as if it had been slow around here lately for Medical.

As Dana spoke, Louise gave in to a bit of thought, making mental notes as she did. She's keen, insightful, aware of others beyond a medical chart, and strikes right to the heart of things. I think she's grand.

"You're certainly on top of things, Dana. And I agree whole-heartedly on this pod situation. Medical certainly needs to be kept in all the loops when it comes to the crew and oh...strange things brought onboard." She gave a wink making note to bring it up at the next staff meeting.

The doctor consulted the PADD, tapping, listening, glancing between the digital and the fine nurse before her. "Seems starfleet has further plans for the ship and is building a proper team. Looks like we have quite a few more being added to our medical roster."

"That's Great!," Dana replied, "we have always been understaffed and I have mentioned it in my reports on several occasions."

Louise tapped again pulling up a roster to list on a larger display.

"We have... myself as CMO, yourself as quite the capable Head Nurse and Petty Officer, Bachmann as our specialist. We'll see if we can pull his nose from sensors a bit more with a look over that pod and our Chief Engineer Thorson. Nurse Patel. We have been given leave to bring in three more nurses before we ship out from the base. And I asked to have a yeoman brought on, a rather fine though young addition, Toriak. He is a stickler for records as Vulcans can be, and may give you a great deal of help as well."

Leaning across the desk, she gave a nod to Dana. "I'm already assured you are quite the best to have with the mayhem about to fall upon us, not to mention leaving soon this morn to escort the Coronado and diplomats. So! Standing orders."

Dana straightened at the praise from her new CMO. It was appreciated but she didn't want to interrupt her again to offer her thanks.

Louise slid a finger along the PADD and tapped. "I'll fish through and accept the three nurses, get them aboard, and have a quick chat with the Chief of Engineering to make sure we get a proper review of what happened. I'm with you, they needed to bring in Medical on this. Bachmann can help with any lab work and sensor reviews to help us. I'll also check with the captain on our Kuldar and Rytain diplomats."

She studied Dana then. "Dana, pull up all records you can and medical information on Kuldar and Rytain peoples, preferably on these exact diplomats if we have them on record at all. If not, I'll add it to the list for the staff meeting. We may have a bit of a mess on our hands quite suddenly, and I want us ready. Have Patel assist and study all you do. When the three new nurses come in, pull them in as well. For physicals, start looking over the medical records to schedule starting with crewman to get our team working together."

"Soon as we are enroute and have a bit of clear sailing, we can have a good chat with Chief Thorson together. Ah Dana, so happy to be working with you, dear. I have no doubts in your skills and have a good feeling about our new team."

Dana couldn't stand any straighter without snapping her spine. The praise was unexpected but welcome as she couldn't disagree with the CMO's observations.

"I will get right on it Sir," Dana said, "I will have those records as soon as possible. I will have Nurse Patel assist me. As soon as the new nursing staff arrive I will get them squared away and start working up the crewman physicals as soon as we are underway. I am sure I can whip these new nurses into shape in short order."

PO Cook grinned slightly at the prospect of new underlings to mold into shape. She stood eagerly awaiting her CMO to release her to her tasks. She was eager to start and to prove that Louise's perceptions of her were not misplaced.

"Fantastic, Dana. Please continue on, dismissed." Smile still warm, she looked back to her PADD getting to work. Time to find us a few good nurses with a potential for learning clinical medicine, hmm.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Sickbay - 0645

For a short couple hours after reviewing records, Dr. Moore wandered to find that officer the captain mentioned. Within moments, she had quarters, her two trunks popped open, and a nap. As usual, no sooner had her eyes closed and sleep fallen than an alarm buzzed to wake her.

Within the hour, she washed, prepped her long hair into a loose braid coiled at the nape of her neck, clean uniform pressed and worn, and finished off a painfully plain pot of tea.

An alert blipped on her PADD, access to the stores for Vertazine and Tramadol, and entries for arriving personnel. "The day already quite on it's way, hmm. Interesting mix that, wonder if someone came in with a few bumps and bruises. Well then." She left the new quarters, taking the twists and turns in the small ship until the doors of Sick Bay greeted her with a fine swish open and closed.

A young man came to the chime, marks of a crewman, all his calm becoming jittery seeing Moore. "Ah yes Nurse Patel, is it?"

He straightened, tug of his uniform in place, glancing at her uniform and dawning realization from talking with Nurse Dane as she went off duty. "Yes, Lieutenant, Doctor Moore, sir...ma'am." He had just a year under his belt, rattling off names and ranks to cover the bases.

She waved with a hand, eyes crinkling with a scattering of fine laugh lines. "Oh Dr. Moore is just fine. We'll all have a department meeting soon, but names to faces. Do we have a patient this morn, a few crewmen enjoying their away time a bit healthy hmm?"

"Ma'am? Ah Doctor? No, though Petty Office Cook was just in, and should be returning for duty."

"Oh splendid! Continue with your duties, and I'll get in touch with Head Nurse Cook."

She tapped at her com. "Petty Officer Cook, good morn, if you could please come by Sick Bay?"

((OOC assuming affirmative. Let's meet and chat! ))

Irel put to voice what she was thinking, help them out and sort themselves out later. What would be the harm?

And then giggling, movement, shapes dark and eager with some malicious intent. They had distance now, and a flurry of arrow fire raining down on the group would only add danger to the mix. Some things like boars and wolves just didn't see much threat in an arrow over the prize of fresh meat.

Everything happened in a blur, like so many things.

Dropping her pack with the rather worn lute to the ground, Pepper pulled Out Back from the second scabbard, two long swords laid in hand and itching for a battle. She might not believe in one god specific like, or even really pray much, but folk that did were special. Special and chosen or special in the head, both balanced out in the end. And these folk looked to need help in a bad way.

She heard the cry of Rae to protect the flank. "Aye aye, flank."

Pepper kept a wary eye on the woods, mist a living thing itself. It moved with purpose, ghost-like and strange, reminding her of the old stories told by the old grannies with gaping holes betwixt their teeth. Tales of how it reached between the trees, covering the grove like a blanket. One moment people would be there, disappearing with the mist.

This time the mist brought something back.

Swords pointing back, moving forward with purpose and speed, she needed to get closer to that group in case an opening presented itself. Or to handle anything that came out of those trees. Nimble as could be, she stayed on her toes ready to tumble through to slice blades deep into whatever attacked.

((Pepper doesn't really do much ranged. She's far more up close and personal. If something comes from the woods, she'll tumble and fight through them. Otherwise, she is making way to the people to start tumbling through and slice n dicing!))

Stardate 2365.02.07
USS Peregrine, Captain's Quarters - 1911

"Hello, Captain. I'm Dr. Louise Moore, a pleasure." she spoke.

The hour was rather on the late side, and the look of those eyes, forced attention from habit and perhaps his own sense of place and pride spoke of a long day already fought through. She didn't want to add to it, at least not too far.

"Welcome aboard, doctor," he spoke by way of greeting. "The pleasure is mine."

He motioned to a PADD, assuredly some dull document displayed about the tragedy on the Ryland or that strain of tibuki fever at Starbase 101. "I was just reviewing your service record; please forgive me, but I had no idea that Starfleet was swapping out half of my department heads in the same day, so I'm a bit behind on the new personnel files. I see that you are well traveled, though I believe that the Peregrine is the smallest detail you'll have been assigned to." He shot her a crooked grin before continuing. "Indeed, I wonder who you managed to annoy to get sent here?"

She heaved a sigh and smiled back, crinkling at the eyes and showing a light spidering of wrinkles from grinning so much in life. "Well, these things happen. I've shipped with so many, I've gotten my life down into two trunks. Trust me, if Starfleet is willing to ignore my existance for a decade, I'd be pleased as Risan punch to keep your crew tip top." Her voice had a calming cadence, the old British accent still prevalent despite years in space.

"Well then," he paused. "You'll need to check in with Operations to get your quarters assigned... but the new Ops Chief hasn't made it on board yet. I expect that Chief Palmer is who you'll need to see in the meantime. I'm sure that you'll want to get sickbay set up according to your own liking... and you will likely need to spend some time with our Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant Tesenblen. He is starting a new project that I think you should be aware of. If you need anything from me personally, please do not hesitate to ask."

She studied him while he yammered on, all of it important and the key pieces sticking in mind. Find this Chief Palmer, chat with Lieutenant Tesenblen, the second name definitely earning a broader smile. "Oh I intend to find them, than you. There's a fair few things I'd love to chat with the Lieutenant about. If I find myself in need of your ear, Captain, have no fear. Besides, we need to get a physical and work up done. I take updating all records rather personal. Don't believe in that claptrap about apples keeping doctors away. Tom foolery that."

The Captain frowned. "We are set to leave the starbase tomorrow morning on our new mission, so I don't know how long it will be before we have a chance to meet more socially. If possible, I'll try to schedule a meal tomorrow for the various department heads to get to know one another. In the meantime, though, well aboard again, Doctor. I look forward to serving with you."

She let one arm free from the other, a dark velvet bag still quite tucked in the crook. With a wave, she shook her head slightly. "All in good time, Captain. I have quite a challenge already set before me, and that needs time unwinding. I'm sure your CMO was quite good, and I want to make sure that work continues. Thank you for the welcome, but do get yourself some rest. Oh and..."

Gripping the bag in hand, she offered it across. "Happy belated birthday, sir."

((OOC assuming some thanks and happy wishes, the bag contains a handsome bottle of brandy))

"Cheerio!" She gave call to him, waving off one hand again before he tried any sort of chivalry. Louise spent years in ships and meeting then departing from captains and crew. Part of her didn't want to get too attached, yet she knew all too quickly she would know all their stories and work hard to ensure their well-being.

USS Peregrine, Sick Bay - 1930

Soon enough she would go and find Chief Palmer, for now Louise wanted to scout around and see what she could find in the Sick Bay. Soon enough the morning rush would pile in, random scrapes, someone from Engineering overzealous with their duties, the folks away on the Starbase coming back with nasty hang overs and the like.

"One sleepless night won't be none to terrible now will it. A fine pot of tea, scones, and everything will be right as rain." The door slid open revealing a young man entirely focused on reports and equipment before him.

He glanced up and earned that smile of Louise's. "Oh don't get up, I'll be taking a seat soon myself."

The medical technician Bachmann merely nodded. "Have need of a nurse? I can have PO Cook or Nurse Patel contacted."

"Ah no, I'm well enough. Dr. Moore, I'm your new Chief Medical Officer." She held out a hand to shake the young lady who now stood quick and came across.

"I didn't realize...But Lietenant Synklar?"

"I'm unsure of his departure, but know that if Starfleet needed him on another mission, it is to help a good many folk. And I hope I can continue his mission here. So, give me a good look around, enjoy a spot of tea with me, and latest bit of medical needs you've seen."

He gave her a studied look, motioning to his PADD reports. "We had an interesting case just earlier. Chief Thorson had a strange encounter with a biological compound, an electrical pulse, and containment fields. All the tests were normal."

Louise's pale blue eyes just about lit and danced. "Ah a medical mystery with the metal armed gent! Yes, let's start there. And how about a nice pot of English Breakfast to perk us up."

((OOC Dr. Moore will be in sick bay going over medical charts and personnel, then start poking and prodding people in the next day! She'll work through too excited to join and meet everyone before sleeping.))

((EDITED to change the nurse to Bachmann the medical tech.))

The state of the folk pulled at the same heart strings and compassion the others felt. They poured forth drink, food, little to nothing she had herself. She spent her coin always on the wildest things.

Then the leader gave warning of what stalks the night... Of not being on this road late at night!

She looked to each of them, leaning a bit over to them. "Should we just let them go as it is? Is this shrine far? If we've not anything so pressing waitin' for us, perhaps we give 'em a bit of help gettin' there?"

Hey there Boo Boo, saw your note and not to worry. Dr. Moore (she isn't a stickler about the whole rank thing, just the doc thing) is pretty good at smoothing things over. Her background is basically come in and help build medical units. But then starfleet keeps shifting her off after a couple years to help the next ship/base. Apprehension is completely expected. And IC frustration is perfectly fine.

"UNDEAD!" The forceful call came from the walking mountain with the impressive if frightening skull scar. Vengador might block doorways just by pausing, but the girth and brawn did not mean he was without thought.

Strong arms of Irel plucked her from the mud.

>SPLORCH<

Such a loud and obnoxious sound to punctuate after such an odd battle cry? warning? Maybe he suffered from old man Withers syndrome? He always screeched out random words, rather funny at dinner gatherings.

Hammerfoot made short work of his cry, taking his place, implacable as always. He groused of being calm, while making a pretty grand gesture of standing firm and trying to rouse the people again.

She glanced up to the elven guard, this whole situation really unnerving her. How many times had she been yanked up off her feet by the town guard. She started counting. But the rest of her mind was far more stuck on this word.

Undead. Mostly dead? Sorta dead? How many flavors of dead could there be?! Then again, maybe Vengador knew. He must have been one of those rumored Saved. The ones that pretty much HAD to die from a wound but then were graced by the 'god's holy light' and 'brought back'. Malarky and horseshit, gods can't do that. Then again...there's a right many here god loving not fearing in this group. Maybe there is more to it than I thought."

"If I was feelin' poorly and out in weather like this, I'd be the same... wait... they be comin' from Crandel? Ye think the whole lot of 'em be sick in that city?"

Her right ear twittered and itched. Aeden must have plucked a string, which brought a smile. When he played, it changed everything about a fight! Besides, he played far better than she.

Getting back to her feet, she kept Ol One Eye ready. Out Back would soon loose from its sheath to join it if there was real trouble.

Stardate 2365.02.07
Starbase 118 1800

Tapping through records on her PADD, Louise enjoyed a fresh pot of chiereesh tea sweetened with a touch of jarpuur. Part of her loathed to investigate the nut ground down and steeped in boiled fruit juice, afraid to learn it was not a nut but some excretion of a blue monkey or some other wild thing, better to blindly savor the last pot she would have for quite some time. But it was worth the trading of inoculations to an afrosian contact down in the trade docks.

Neon lettering and captured images flashed across as she sipped, names and bulleted lines of all so important details. Commendations, reprimands, accidents and battles. Yet this sort of information never really captured the truth of officers in Starfleet. "Well, Captain Drake, we're bound to have some interesting chats. Along with this variety of officers and staff. And this one, cybernetic arm replacement, chemical burns. Hmm, a Trill! I have never met a Trill, oh fantastic. I need to read up on their physiology."

She tapped at times to make a few personal notes, building a map of relations, before digging into her own staff. "Maybe...one more cup."

Time ticked by as she made note of the new staff: a medical lab specialist, a medical yeoman, and five nurses including a Petty Officer Cook. "Well, no time like the present."

USS Peregrine, 1900

The spinning haze of electronic morphing drew a field across and through, breaking apart life into a captured and transmitted collection of cells and memory to coalesce into a rather plain woman in a medical coat with one bag slung over a shoulder and a sizable black sack tucked in the crook of an arm.

Giving the transporter a cursory glance, Dr. Louise Rose Moore stepped over to the young transporter tech.

"Ah crewman..."

"Daris."

"Yes, Crewman Daris, good to meet you. I believe I'm expected. If you would be so kind as to direct me to your Captain or Chief Exec?" She gave the lad a look over, considering his coloring, muscle definition, a habit the doctor could truly never break. "Dr. Moore, your new Chief Medical Officer. And I may have an additional chest arriving, if you could have that delivered to my quarters."

"Yes, sir. It will be just a moment, Dr. Moore." She graced him with a smile as he tapped at the panel before him, settling into some rhythm of commands well beyond her station.

The last three years had been much as the last stints in medical bays on ships and stations. Just enough time to become friends with a crew, learning who would break a bone in some daring away mission or pull something working in jeffries tubes. And once everything was set, the medical units were perfect hubs of care and wellness with clear procedures and training in trauma care and day to day needs, Starfleet shuffled her to the next catastrophe.

The galactic janitor of fine messes.

But not this time. No this time, it will be different. or I'm going to---

The crewman tapped his communicator, the familiar chirps in succession. "Transporter room 1 to Captain." He paused a moment then continued. "You have an arrival, Chief Medical Officer Moore."

(OOC awaiting a response, acknowledging of a location to be taken)

The crewman gave a nod at the response, leading to the door with a soft sliding open. "Doctor," he made for her to follow which she did, bag over shoulder and smaller black velvet one in hand.

"It's fine timing the ship arrived at Starbase 118 when it did. I was just commissioned while on leave, making my way back across the quadrant. I was about to start looking for a ride closer with the Coronado. But Captain Morland assured me the Peregrine would be here. What a coincidence."

The crewman smiled along, leading the doctor to the meeting place to drop the talkative woman with the captain.

(ooc assuming they arrive)

The fair doctor smiled with all the warmth she could muster, having done this introduction many times. More than likely, he read over her record and had numerous expectations of a hard-nosed workhorse of a doctor, willing and capable to snap the whip. But Louise was nothing of the sort. Everything about her was average, even the scattering of white in her dark brown hair kept in a braided bun at the nape of her neck.

At least I brought a gift. Reading over his record, I imagine he could use it.

"Hello, Captain. I'm Dr. Louise Moore, a pleasure."
