I have access to the books and content, but haven't had a chance to play test it. A good deal of the rules are refined, pulled back to the roots of the game. I am 50/50 on my feelings for 4.0. Some aspects were very interesting (mainly the class offerings), but some just bogged down the game (some of the combat, and how puny some magic users felt).

I'd offer to run something, but trying to stay focused on the art for the moment until I get comfy enough and faster to spend time on really running something.

Hero: Prince Arutha from the Riftwar Saga books by Feist. Excellent strategist, great character, without magic or special abilities. Just swift thinking and acting. He's in Magician Apprentice, Magician Master, Silverthorn, and Darkness at Sethanan, and a couple others.

Villian: Tough toss up between Raistlin of the Dragonlance Saga and a homebrew character in an Exalted game of mine named Vile Whisper. Vile is an Abyssal antagonist I created for my party to fight. Instead, they ended up befriending him through their constant battles. Now he's a member of the group...very weird member. Every chance they get, they try to kill each other. Then have a beer after.

Ooooh really? When does that come up in the current list of scripts? Lemme know! Also may do some group shot doodles this weekend to post for funsies.

Also would folks like photos of the workspace/in progress? I read on other topics that folks enjoyed watching Lyra draw online with a shared cast. Dunno how to do that while painting. But definitly could toss photos while drawing like a behind the scenes.

GW2 was fun for about a month. But no end game just left me boooored. I did rp alot, but just missed the ability to run uber stuffs. WoW held me for years.

But the lure of table tops has reclaimed me. Been running an Exalted Solar/Lunar game for about 4 years now. Played till midnight last night.

All true! I've been taking some great direction from Olan, getting a feel for characters and plot. The artwork is coming along nicely. Just digitally painting the strip now. The first few will be pencil scans with digital paint. But may move to all digital. Just getting a feel for it.

I'm super excited to be working on the project!

I loved the movie far more than Die Hard From Russia With Love ZOMG Don't Shoot At My Son. Sure, there was some extreme ridiculous aspects to it. Like his codes still working after 18 months off of POTUS detail. But overall, I can't get enough of Butler and enjoyed the thrill ride immensely.

Thanks!

I draw everything by hand. They are using my trusty mechanical pencils. I use a .5 Papermate Clear Point (years and years old, and green) and a .3 Staedtler Mars and a Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser thingie. The paper I use is a 9x12 Canson Universal Sketch paper. All of that I bought at Hobby Lobby.

I scan with a super cheap scanner that I've had for 13 years. It keeps chugging along. The only art program I use on the computer is GIMP, a free open source option to Photoshop (my old Photoshop won't run on new Windows), which is surprising me daily with options.

Other things required, coffee and my ipod.

So it's about time I dusted myself off, and got back to posting...instead of lurking.

For those that recall the name, indeed, Yana is back around for insanity, creativity, and too many written words.

Long time writer and artist, returning home, and finally weened myself off of those digital mmo games. I've been running an Exalted tabletop game for local friends, and plotting artworks with Olan...and some others of my own.

But wanted to gave a wave, and call out to great old friends that I have missed dearly.

Olan asked for some elven armor. But not just any armor. BAD ASS elf armor. The kind of elves you do not want to mess with.

First up, a take on elements. I have some ideas of armor based around elemental magics. Here is Fire. Just a first pass.

Elven Fire, first pass

The second is weathered warriors. They have entered some of the most terrible of lands, fought magics beyond our reckoning. Honor guards when they are at home. Scions of the unimaginable when abroad. Their armor is banded loops and lengths of metal scored and infused with magics of the elf elves. The armor itself had undergone some of the most devastating spells to strength and test it for protecting these souls.

Elven Rune-banded with Living Root sword, first pass

The sword is called The Living Root. These swords are carved from the roots of the king's trees. A high honor for the most esteemed warriors. When the warrior dies, they are laid to rest in key places in the elven realms. The sword alone marks their resting place. If ever the planted sword grows, then it is the god's will the soul of the warrior protects the land even in death, becoming part of the world.

Drefast!
City of wonder, known for incredible bridges that span the gorge and deep waters below. The higher along the cliffs, the richer the occupants. Fishing slums rest along the banks below. Galleons can travel the incredibly deep rivers, passing with ease under the high bridges. Flags larger than any in creation hang from the bridges informing of weather, port conditions, commerce, season, and more for the captains. In tales past, some of these flags were used as early warnings for invasions.

The bridges and some of the greatest buildings are the remains of ancient architecture. Of a past long forgotten.

I hope this first pass does it justice.

Drefast, first pass (smaller size)

Drefast bigger, first pass (zoomed size)

And for fun...a khord bard, three braids means he's a big deal. *nods nods* Still in progress.

Helengir grumbled a mighty bit as the mother just gave her those soft eyes of a woman tossed to hearths and left there to rot. Thank the stones of the world, her man never did that to her.

As the blood and dirt began to disappear, she marveled and peered closer. Some mix of fear and intrigue filled the warrior's face. "Magics..." If the child was not hurt, she might have dropped him and made marks against it. No matter how natural it was, nothing should just disappear like that. Flying cloth or not!

Turning, she caught sight of the magister. One eye twitched. The opposite brow levered up. The wrinkles and crags of her face deepened. Oooh she was about to say something alright.

But that moment the air split with the screams of children's names and frantic parents. Heaving to in the sudden sea of Khords, she frantically sought back to her shield to get behind it. Making a slow way forward, either by her own steps or simply lifted and carried along, Helengir heard the call. One she could not deny.

Thagovan yelled for help for seeking the childer. Which was bright thinking with the carousing populace around them.

Coughing, she raised her voice. "Thagovan, ye know I'll be a comin'. Count in Helengir. Now..people...make way ye igits!"

It was during his hopes for something grand that old...thunder thighs...had indeed moved on. Which is a good thing. She could sour a score with just a bushy browed stare. Her wagging finger could make the most randy chaste. Thankfully, for the laddy, she had bigger fishies to fry.

Though she did give a snort and muttered when she had walked past. (*dies laughing* thunder thighs, awesome. She moved past earlier, he's free an clear........for now.)

Started a little doodle on Elven Armor Ideas, super not so secret now project for Olan.

Thanks for the welcome folks! I posted up something. Great posts in there all around. And perhaps I can put together a doodle of the Khords when I finish a couple things.

If I skip anything, or need a tidbit of info on one of your toons, feel free to poke me.

Helengir quick notes: old...old ol' crone of a warrior woman with a shield just about taller than she is. She has a long beard and hair, just wrapped up not braided. It's all gone to grey with the roots starting to go snowy white. Pretty simple lady.

Subject: A time of celebrating

Why had she brought the bloody thing? Helengir could not stop spinning her thoughts round and round about it until dizzy. The damned thing weighed more than her three chilren combined and could be a nuisance at such a gathering. But leaving it at home would have meant an empty arm. An empty arm meant remembering he was gone.

Cursing through her greyed beard, Helengir just trudged on through. Thankfully it would sop up her tears if any fell. And with a second breath, she blessed whoever planned on holding the gathering in the ol' Spore. Whiskey. Takards a'flowing. Good strong chatter. That is what the battle crone needed.

A frisky couple, red of cheek and bright of eyes tried angling past and around the monstrous shield. The crowds had parted before it, like a bolder in a river, a nice breakwater for the milling younglings. "Get ye'gone, childer. Make way, ye'blasted--" But her blustering gave way as her eyes caught sight of the newly wed sharing smile and mead.

Heaving a sigh from her plate clad feet, she hefted her shield to press onward through. At times the comedic thing scraped the floor or shoved an entire bench of Khords. But among them, it was as common as dust on an aged keg. Part of life.

As Mugtwister, the old coot, made his way onto a table to give voice to the event of two being wed, the ol' Bloodblade took the moment of quiet to find her own tankard for the toast. A few hands came forth from the milling crowd, each offering a frothy brew to the oldster as her eyes glittered a thanks under bushy gunmetal grey. "Many thanks fer the drink." Why she tried to speak, who could say. It was just as quickly drowned out as the elder pointed a crooked finger to a yon lad on a step.

Blood dripped through his hair, as peculiar a sight as the light in his eyes. As if the little one had been just as amazed to be hit by something. Shock. He was in complete shock, which would not last long. Every old mothering instinct shot through her like lava from a flowspout. But the heaviness of her shield and sudden drink in hand, among a milling crowd eager to see what happened, held her at bay.

A voice cut through the air,the owner moving through the milling crowd with an ease that made Helengir curse again. She would owe the goddess later for the slurs.

"Barkeep! Send Someone to Me with a Mug of Your Best Batch of 'Blue Cheer'! I Will Tend to the Child If No One Else Will Do So!" Eyeing the speaker, her brows shot up making every wrinkle deepen. Some crazed looking thing of a man, festooned with knick knacks and probably smelling of something best left alone.

Poor boy, wake up seein' that, liable to want ta'return ta sleepin'. Trying to force her way through, the old shield basher gave up and let go of her best friend. With a longing sigh to the shield, she turned and turned again, milling through the crowd, at times lifting someone and plunking them down to get through. Finally she arrived as the fool shoved some concoction over the wound and applied the Khord Answer to Laments and Emergencies (ALE).

"Ye think ye would try speakin' ta the lad..." But he could not hear her with his proclamation so loud betwixt his teeth.

"I Give You My Solemn Word as Loco FungiHammer! Whoever ... or ... Whatever ... is Responsible for this Travesty ... Will Answer to Loco FungiHammer ... This I Swear to You!" Then the crazy man rubbed his honor braids before the child, licked at his palms, and smacked the mother and child on their brainpans.

Sighing again from somewhere about her toes, Helengir could only pray to the lady of honor. "Give me strength with childer and madmen." Eyeing the 'cleric' mad on shrooms and the mother, she patted at the lad with care. Her war trained eyes looked for the rise and fall of breath, be it normal or quick. Any flutter of lashes. The strange burns on his hands.

"I be no healer, but this poor lad seems ta been in an explosion. Ye be his mother, whar he be all this time?" Helengir peered at the lady holding her boy so close.
