And We're Off!

“I would like to check with Kavtan about his investigation. I will bring up the ‘Incident’ later when we dine with the Administrator Namor.”
Ninkanna nods, "OK, I'll see if I can get in touch with Master Arkanna. Oh, and if you've already seen Kavtan, I guess he's already told you what happened on our end right?"

Ninkanna sighs, "I'm not even a diplomat, but I really don't want to get in that situation again... I had no idea what I was doing, with what words I did exchange with Slade. I tried to be neutral, but apparently Kavtan didn't think much of me for that. I guess they don't know much about the Jedi types..."

Ninkanna shakes her head, "I'm sorry, I really need to meditate; I have so much on my mind right now..."

Ninkanna shakes her head again, as though to clear it of a headache, "Well, I'll try contacting my Master, like I said I was going to... I ramble a bit too much, don't I?"

Ninkanna laughs just once at herself, then wanders back outside to check the comlink again, to see if Master Arkanna's is on or not, and maybe even ask the starfighter astromech droids if they can help somehow.

Moving along...

As Si-Di inspected the wreckage on her way to see Kavtan, she finds what he found; rubble, and what she sensed might be a few pieces of flesh here and there - it was a truly sickening sight. Through the force, she can feel the essence of Master Allum here, like a footprint. When he died, he was at peace. He had sensed the bomb and knew what was coming.
She remembers what Master Allum told her one day, when they were training on Coruscant, in one of the rooms of the Jedi temple, sequestered away from the rest of the academy...

They had been meditating for hours. For the padawan, it was uncomfortable; her joints began to tense up after sitting in the same position for such a long time. But Master Allum was at peace. He always seemed to be at piece. The long, silvery-white hair of the ancient Jedi Zabrak fell so neatly on his shoulders, and in the rays of the sun drifting in from outside, his horns glimmered like polished bone.

"Steady your mind, padawan," he said. "The force flows through us. Through our mind, our heart, and our spirit. We are luminous beings, not simply this crude matter."

He gestured around them, at all of the objects and material things.

"Let go of all this," he said. "A Jedi uses the force for knowledge, and defense. But a Jedi does this not actively, but passively. One does not try in the traditional sense. Let go, and let the force flow through you. When a Jedi learns how to open their mind, their heart, their spirit to the force, the force will do the work.

"Above all, be at peace," he concluded. "You must let what must happen, happen. For it is the will of the force. If I die to save the life of but one other being, no matter his or her lot in life, my life will have been well spent."

Master Zen Allum had died trying to keep the other passengers from harm. As Si-Di reflects on this, looking among the wreckage, she sees something green shimmer.

Upon closer inspection, it is an Adegan Crystal, from Master Allum's lightsaber, no doubt. There is no sign of the saber itself - it must have been destroyed in the blast. But lightsaber crystals are forged and shaped in special furnaces, and molded with the force. It would take a powerful explosive to pulverize such a dense, strong crystal; this explosive, apparently, was not strong enough. Si-Di may wonder why she spotted something that Kavtan missed; then again, Adegan Crystals radiate the force, albeit subtly. And Kavtan was not looking for a crystal...

It must have been the will of the force.

In any case, there wasn't enough of Master Allum to even transport, but then again, Jedi do burn their dead usually when off-world, so it might be a moot point...

Meanwhile...
As Ninkanna checks her comlink once more, she still finds it dead on the other side - she doesn't even seem to be getting a frequency...

Master Arkana did say she would meet them at Rhetti Hall when they met with Administrator Namor, however. But Master Arkana is not one to neglect contact in such a way.

As she walks over to the Starfighters, she finds the Astro droids exactly as they left them - shut down, in the docking ports. However, it is doubtful that the droids could be able to affect any change in the situation - perhaps if Master Arkana was near her Starfighter, Ninkanna could contact her with the other one. But it doesn't seem as if Master Arkana is out of range, just that she is either not answering, has turned off her comlink, or the comlink has been destroyed.

The thought is chilling, but considering the events that have been occurring of late, and the one that they were pursuing...

It seems to be a possibility. However, she has not sensed anything unusual in the force. Admittedly, Anna is just a padawan, but as many masters and apprentices have noted, the bond between a master and his or her padawan is strong. If something befell Master Arkana, Ninkanna would probably know it...

Kavtan, meanwhile, can't help but notice that the two Jedi are back together on the landing pad, albeit engaged in different activities. And the stranger - 'Rok' was his name? - seems to have disappeared entirely, along with both of the guild personell. But then, Dom-Rhett could be a sketchy place; Kavtan knew that growing up there.

People disappeared - they went along on their way, got mixed up in bad business, or simply went off world. On a planet where there's no formal government, people tend to do as they please.

That made Dathu a perfect world for a lot of things. Violence, larsony, conspiracy...

Trust

Ninkanna sighs, and puts the comlink away. If Master Arkanna had turned her own off, then it was probably for a reason. Maybe she couldn't afford to let the comlink go off at an inopportune time or something... Ninkanna just has to trust that Master Arkanna is alright, and so she does.

Well, there's not much else I can do but wait. Ninkanna thinks to herself. She jumps on top of her starfighter, sits in the cockpit, and begins to meditate. She reflects on the incident in the alley. She replays the battle in her mind, focusing on her own technique. It is quite different than remotes. Ninkanna thinks, Although, I don't recall a lot of training with more than one remote at a time. It's another thing to practice on. However, there's something else... Ninkanna traces the battle back to its beginning, to when she got shot.

She replays the scene in her mind, I screamed, and in that scream was rage, and fear. It is... natural... but not right. I have to learn how to silence it... but I will get there, I know I will.
Ninkanna then passes the rest of the combat, and reflects on the exchange between her and Slade. Ninkanna sighs inwardly, There was nothing I could have done. I did what I did, and that is all that could've been expected of me. There is nothing more I could have done.
Forgiving herself for that incident, Ninkanna feels serene. That was the main issue that was plaguing her mind, and now it was dealt with. Even if other people thought otherwise, that was the best she could have done in that situation, and Ninkanna accepts the outcome. There is only peace...

Despite the solemn nature of her meditation, a person looking at Ninkanna as she meditates finds her smiling; another unconscious habit that she herself isn't all that aware of.

There is no death; there is the Force.

Si-Di tried not to look at the bits of charred flesh that scattered the wreckage, but closed her eyes for a few moments and remembered what Master Allum taught her.

"Steady your mind, padawan," he said.
She slowed her breathing, taking it in deeply in through her nostrils and deep into her body. Feeling the force flowing through her she tried to sense anything here that might attract her to it. She opened her eyes and looked down and found the Adegan Crystal from Master Allum’s Lightsaber. She smiled and crouched down and picked it up. It might not be much but it was enough. She would return this to the Jedi Temple and report on how the Master had died.. saving not only her life but several others.

Above all, be at peace," he concluded. "You must let what must happen, happen. For it is the will of the force. If I die to save the life of but one other being, no matter his or her lot in life, my life will have been well spent."
Si-Di smiled at the memory of him saying those very words. She nodded and felt more at peace now. She was learning to handle his death in a manner that she thought of which her Master would approve. She tucked the crystal away within and inner pocket of her robe, close to her heart. She felt better now, the bits of flesh on the ground no longer filled her with remorse. What happened, happened, and it did so for a reason. It was the will of the force.

Turning to Kavtan she walked over to him to learn if he had found anything about the explosion. Any evidence. She would not ask about her Master, that was past, she had to live in the present, in the moment, control her feelings and concentrate on the true matter at hand. Find out what was going on here on Dathu and try to .. no.. not try.. .do.. she would find out who was behind all this and put a stop to it.

“Kavtan,” Si-Di said walking up to him, “Have you found any evidence about what type of explosive was used? Was it planted? A rocket? Anything at all might help.”

Explosives

Kavtan had noticed what the Jedi were doing, this was odd. The fact that he found their activities more... interesting then his diary. There was something about these two, he had regarded them as only keepers of the peace untill now, admittedly they still were but now, they were somehow more then that. And somehow he knew that he was intertwined with this now, whatever it might be, how he knew this he wasn't sure but he knew he could help a bit.

“Kavtan,” Si-Di said walking up to him, “Have you found any evidence about what type of explosive was used? Was it planted? A rocket? Anything at all might help.”
His first reaction was to ask what that strange crystal was, a power-source of some kind but he did not know what it might be for.

"No," was Kavtan's answer in somber tones "what every it was decimated the craft and all evidence of what it was." he was avoiding finding the scraps of flesh, that would not go in his diary.
"If it was a bomb it must have been placed and concealed by an expert for that amount of damage or if it was a missile, I don't know how it would have been, but if it was a missile then it must have been a professional job."

Having given his report there was nothing more he could say, he could only think that, as he serviced several bounty hunter's and smuggler's ships, he could try to contact someone in the underworld for assistance. If he did thought he wouldn't be able to take the Jedi and it would cost, but if he had the backing of the Jedi it might not hurt 'his' chip.

"Might I ask what that powercell is for? If it is a powercell, I have never seen one like it before."
He asked making casual conversation
"Could you sit down, I need to ask you something."

Oi Vey

Lysander was starting to get good at this. What exactly "this" was however, seemed to be confound him. So far today he had apprehended a criminal, tricked a jedi, shot that same jedi in the back and escaped from a security team under heavy gunfire. At this rate, he'd be killing people by nightfall. He was not expecting this when he woke up this morning.

The dive out the window had been hazardous, what with all the fire it seemed to attract. Lysander was not exactly used to being shot at, and the experience was not one he would probably like to repeat. He landed out in the street, and immeditately started running. A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed his suspicions that the guards had realised they'd be tricked, as they were chasing him down the alley, although he was quickly outpacing them. A few twists and turns later Lysander found himself amid the throng of peasants and shopkeepers, his pursuers nowhere to be seen.

But now the question remained as to what he should do. He was most definately on some sort of database by now, even if they didn't know his name they would surely have some sort of image of his face. Thus the first order of business should be to find someway to disguise himself. Being careful to stick to the sides and avoid any guild security he could see, Lysander searched the streets for somewhere to "buy" some clothing he could use to disguise himself.

((OOC: Looking for a headscarf or something. Something to disguise self before going back to find the others. I might just snatch something and run if its easy enough.))

Conversation with Kavtan

No," was Kavtan's answer in somber tones "what every it was decimated the craft and all evidence of what it was." he was avoiding finding the scraps of flesh, that would not go in his diary.

"If it was a bomb it must have been placed and concealed by an expert for that amount of damage or if it was a missile, I don't know how it would have been, but if it was a missile then it must have been a professional job."

Si-Di nodded at Kavtan’s impromptu report and assumed it was going to be something like this. She shook her head at the devastation, wondering why people would do such a thing to kill people they didn’t even know.

“Thank you, Kavtan.” She said to him softly, “I appreciate your efforts even though you have found nothing that will point us to whomever has done this terrible thing.”

Might I ask what that powercell is for? If it is a powercell, I have never seen one like it before." Kavtan asked making casual conversation.
Si-Di smiled slightly and reached into her robe and took out the Green Adegan Crystal and held it in her open palm looking down at it thoughtfully.

“This is not a power cell,” She told him, “this is the crystal from Master Allum’s lightsaber. It is the only thing… left of him.” She paused a moment to take a deep calming breath before continuing.

“This crystal focuses the power of the lightsaber and they are created in special furnaces that use extremely high temperatures so that is why this crystal survived the explosion. It is not easy to destroy a Jedi crystal. When it is created it is imbued with the force by the maker; it takes several days of meditation by the Jedi to complete it”

She turned it slowly as if admiring it; the green color of the crystal seemed to glow even in the light of day.

“It is the pinnacle of a Jedi Padawan’s studies to create their own crystal and construct a lightsaber,” she said wistfully, “I hope one day to construct my own.” Still in a pensive mood she quoted an old litany regarding a Jedi’s crystal.

The crystal is the heart of the blade.
The heart is the crystal of the Jedi.
The Jedi is the crystal of the Force.
The Force is the blade of the heart.
All are intertwined:
The Crystal, The Blade, The Jedi.
You are One.

She sighed softly then looked up and noticed she was still talking to Kavtan. She smiled apologetically and slipped the crystal back inside the pocket inside her robe.

“Forgive me,” Si-Di said, “I reminisce.”

“Could you sit down, I need to ask you something." Kavtan asked her.
Nodding Si-Di looked around and didn’t really see anyplace to sit except on some of the wreckage.

“Perhaps we could go inside and talk?” she asked, “I do not want to sit on the ground here among the debris.”

If he agrees, she will turn with him and begin walking back to the Cantina; though she will not object if he talks as they walk.

Patterns!

...now the question remained as to what he should do.
As Lysander scans around at the shops along the main street, he stumbles into the bazaars into the center of town...

Merchants had set up shop here, either in little booths or tents.

Guild Security!

False alarm...it was guild security, but it was only two of them going by in a speeder - they didn't enough make a second glance at Lysander, and surely wouldn't have noticed him if they had. Suddenly, Lysander is reminded of how prolific security could be on this planet if the guilds were looking for you - while it was a haven for those that didn't want to be found by a formal government, irritating the guilds here could be problematic.

And then he spotted it - a clothier. She had her wares hung up outside of a little tent, in between a Hoth Dog Vendor and a pair of crooks pandering deathsticks in plain sight. She was sitting there, attentively waiting for customers. The occasional prospective consumer might stop for a moment, taking a look at her clothes, then returning to the throng.

And there...to the right...headscarves...

Four of them, intricately woven and soft, and clearly for females. Two of them were deep purple, one was bright pink, and one had a rose-pattern (it was marked as the most expensive).

((OOC: ))

Meanwhile...
The orange sun of Dathu was beginning to set. It had been a truly eventful day...

As Si-Di and Kavtan spoke and Ninkanna meditated, they were now becoming very aware of the fact that they were to meet with Administrator Namor tonight, and that the time was drawing near. It wasn't clear when exactly he expected them, but it would be soon.

Rhetti Hall was the administrative office in Dom-Rhett; it also served as a sort of 'administrator's mansion' for Cern Namor, and as a historical monument - it was the facility where the first treaties were signed between the two guilds. It was likely that the negotiations would occur there.

The Jedi would know this from basic research on the planet they were visiting; Kavtan would know it because any Dathuan would know it...

From any point of view in Dom-Rhett, they were all treated to a magnificent sunset...

Time of the Twilight

Ninkanna opens her eyes, feeling very refreshed. Just in time too, for she gets to see the sun dipping over the horizon.

It's so pretty. She thinks.

Well, it was about time to go, and with any luck, Master Arkanna would just be there at the arranged time. If she wasn't... well, Ninkanna will consider that if that's the case.

Ninkanna exits her starfighter's cockpit, pats the astromech droid fondly, and goes to find Si-Di before wandering over to the designated destination; it would do no good if they mistook Ninkanna as the negotiations Jedi!

Sun Set

As the sun started to set on Dathu Kavtan's conversation turned to the dark underbelly of the city. It was highly possible that someone in the underworld knew something of what had happened, Kavtan himself wasn't well connected with any of that type but he had done them favours in the past, mainly repairing there ships for a minimal price and keeping the repairs he did off record. He had once been asked to construct a thing once or twice, a specially encrypted comm link, some electrical device of some sorts, he had even been asked to build a bomb but had refused.

As it turned out Si-Di was interested in talking, but it would have to wait for later as Cern wanted them for dinner, he hadn't said when but it must be soon. He stopped her walking and began to talk.
"Si-Di, the cantina isn't the best place, we would have to find somewhere without so many ears but outside is a gooder place as any"
he was talking about both kinds
"but it concerns information and the gather of. Seeing that we lost the arcona they can't be questioned easily. Y’Ssar is a master of red tape. No, you need underground information, I do not know how to get it and I'm not the one to go looking for it, we need to find someone who can."

He spoke from experience, once he had been but half-an-hour late in his service for a vertical and not only was he not paid but was demanded to pay compensation, of cause worse things can happen if your late but the pay for your work is enough. At that point he saw Ninkanna get up from her meditation and decided he would join her on her walk to dinner, he wanted to learn as much as he could about the Jedi and thought a diplomat would be more informed about the history of the Jedi then an effective soldier.

Dinner Time...

Si-Di had started towards the Cantina when she felt Kavtan pause and she stopped and turned to face him, a quizzical expression upon her long face.

Si-Di, the cantina isn't the best place, we would have to find somewhere without so many ears but outside is a gooder place as any,” Kavtan said, "but it concerns information and the gather of. Seeing that we lost the arcona they can't be questioned easily. Y’Ssar is a master of red tape. No, you need underground information, I do not know how to get it and I'm not the one to go looking for it, we need to find someone who can."
The Cerean nodded knowing he was talking about underworld contacts, sources of information not normally used by law abiding people, especially Jedi. She understood him completely as she turned to watch the beautiful sunset over the landing platform.

“I understand, Kavtan,” she replied, “perhaps later we can inquire with others about possible.. dubious channels of information.”

She looked over and spotted Ninkanna leaving her Jedi Starfighter and approaching them. “I believe it is getting close to the time we must go and visit the illustrious Administrator.”

She bowed her head to Ninkanna as she approached, “Did you have any luck contacting Master Arkanna?”

(Room for replies)

“Well,” Si-Di began, “We should make our way to the Administrator’s place if we are to dine with him this evening. Maybe he has news for us.” Her tone sounded as if she wasn’t confident that Namor could provide any help with their problems.

“Kavtan,” she asked, “I am sure you know where we can find the Administrator.. please lead on.”

Hiking the strap of her travel bag up over her head to rest on the opposite shoulder, she followed the Tech as he led them deeper into Dom-Rhett to the much anticipated meeting with Cern Namor. She had some questions for the man, even if he didn’t have the answers. She was curious to see his reactions when he heard of their troubles with both of the Guilds today.

“Did you have any luck contacting Master Arkanna?”
Ninkanna shakes her head, "Unfortunately not, it doesn't even seem like her comlink is even on."

Ninkanna nods, ready to follow the two others to the shared destination.

Quick Post

(OOC: I shouldn't be on now but what the heck)

Si-Di was responding to what he had said, he wasn't paying too much attention though, it was the reaction he thought he would get, an almost dismissive one but tinted with the hope that this 'dubious' information could help. He didn't see much point in saying that although probably hard to get what information they would get would most likely be accurate, any way, she was watching the sun set, it was spectacular but he had grown up with it, it was normality to him.

“Kavtan,” she asked, “I am sure you know where we can find the Administrator.. please lead on.”
Pleased that he could be more help he silently led on wondering about what he would be eating for the first time in his life since childhood.

Witty Lou, Witty

It had taken a while, but Lysander had finally found the clothier. Casting a curious glance at the death stick venders as he passed he strode up to her stall, surveying the wares she had available. He'd need something to cover his face at least, and maybe a shawl or somesuch for his upper body would be enough to complete the disguise.

She had a nice collection of headscarves, although they seemed a bit...feminine. Not that it would matter all that much however, he was going in disguise, not to a club. He briefly considered attempting a "snatch and run", but given his already precarious situation with the security forces he decided against it. He bought (and actually paid for) a deep purple headscarf, as well as a shawl of some sort to complete the outfit. Mumbing something about "his beautiful wife" he thanked the vendor and set off to find a small alley to set himself up in.

After getting disguised
He had never worn a headscarf before, and it was damn hot. Being warm was better than being dead however, so he supposed he just have to deal with it. Making sure his face was covered, he set off once more, trying to find the jedi he had just minutes before shot in the back. He owed her an apology at the very least.

((OOC: "OOC" can be pronounced, OOK!))

A Formal Welcome to Dom-Rhett

Rhetti Hall.

It was visible as soon as the trio walked a few hundred feet on main street. It was a monolithic building, standing int he center of Dom-Rhett spaceport. It was right in the middle of the territory of the two guilds, standing like some kind of massive palace. By looking for Rhetti Hall, one could tell depending on which side of the building they could see on which side of guild territory they were on. With ornate pillars and steps leading to a set of great, silver double-doors, the hall was definitely the only facility in sight that seemed to command respect...

Any of them would know (the Jedi from their briefings before arriving at Dom-Rhett and Kavtan from a lifetime there), that the Hall was originally built by a wealthy industrialist who came to Dom-Rhett and exploited the mines before the guilds arose. He had wanted to watch Calamari operas right there on Dathu, and had paid enough to get what he wanted. The industrialist had eventually beenm bought out and moved on, the building had almost become derelict. Then the Administrator's office was created, and the building became not only the Administrator's estate, but also his office, and the only neutral governmental location on the planet.

Of course, there wasn't much else on the planet besides desert, steppes, and mines...

As the group approached the great double-doors, they were opened, and a protocol droid greeted them.

"Greetings," it said, "I am D-1JO. I am instructed to escort you to Administrator Namor. Please come with me."

It gestured towards the inside of the building, then began to lead the way into the facility...

(Room for interactions...)

As the trio made their way into the hall, following the droid, they were treated to the massive great hall of the place, again decorated with ornate pillars. The room was fairly empty; it was spacious to the extreme, with a very high ceiling. There were doors on both the west and east walls, but the door that the droid was leading them towards was directly in front of them on the back wall. As they approached it, the door opened, and Administrator Namor came out to greet them. He was wearing neon-blue robes that were decorated with various symbols and had tassels at the ends. His hair and facial hair were well-groomed; he looked as if he had applied copious amounts of gel.

"Welcome, welcome," he said. "I'm sorry, JO is supposed to be programed for ettiquette, but I swear that whoever programmed must have been completely inept at that subject..."

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be blathering" he continued. "Please come with me, let me show you to the dining room. I want to give our Jedi friends a warm welcome. And you, good sir," (he pointed as Kavtan) "Your name seems to have slipped my mind. Excellent job today."
