Buried Secrets Q&A

This is the question and answer thread for my D&D game "Some Secrets are Best Left Buried...". All OOC questions, comments, and discussions from the players should be placed here.

I will post a character roster here as the characters are finalized.

character roster

Character: Shianna Lycinarr
Player: Reralae
Race: Human (Corian)
Gender: Female
Class: Priest of Kith-jora
Alignment: True neutral
Appearance: Shianna has a fairly tanned complexion, and long, dark brown hair. She has long lost any jewellery that she may have possessed, and her appearance can be described as rather outlandish, for living in the wild has caused her hair to appear more like a mane of fur, with leaves and twigs occasionally caught in it. Her eyes are hazel, and seem to hold within them more years than she has lived. She usually wears a set of leather armour, fashioned herself with needlework of leaf and vine and flower patterns.

Character: Isaac Terwilliger
Player: Kilmorrigan
Race: Human (Ertaininan)
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Neutral good
Appearance: Isaac is right at 6 feet tall, with Reddis-brown hair and a fair complexion. He wears a close-cropped beard which he "sculpts" with a VERY sharp knife frequently. His only notable physical feature is his nose. Broken when he was younger and never set correctly, it is noticeably crooked.

His chain mail is well-kept, oiled frequently to prevent rusting. He wears a leather baldrics holding a two handed sword. He also carries a composite short bow but,as mentioned, it is not his primary weapon in combat.

Character: Nerisella (Neri) De’Olio
Player: Ginafae
Race: Human (Drannese)
Gender: Female
Class: Paladin of Oriana
Alignment: Lawful good
Appearance: Neri is a striking woman. She is not overly tall, but her body is lean, athletic, olive-skinned, and topped with long raven-black hair and immersive, expressive green eyes. Her features are delicate, lips full and wine red, breasts and hips in accord with a classical sculpture – a vision which, in Drannon, would be called a paean to the age of the Anathari.

When travelling or when expecting battle, Neri’s garb makes her seem even more striking. She wears a suit of chainmail, beneath a white tabard displaying a heart above an unsheathed sword – the symbol of her order, the Eyes of the Beloved. A red silk sash rounds off the outfit, hovering above a hem line that shows a dangerous amount of thigh.

A large zweihander (or two-handed sword) is strapped to her back, and she carries a shortbow over her shoulder.

On those occasions when Neri is out of armour, her clothing consists of plunging necklines and lofty hems. If the clothing she wears tend not to be quite the height of fashion, there are certainly designed to show off her attributes to their fullest.

Character: Syana Remanius
Player: Merideth
Race: Human (Corian)
Gender: Female
Class: Bard
Alignment: Neutral good
Appearance: Like her personality would suggest she does not appear to be a woman you would take a second glance at. Her long dirty blonde hair is usually pulled back in a simple braid with a bit of twine holding it in place. Eyes are a ruddy blue color, mouth small with her lips pressed together, skin slightly tanned and speckled with freckles. Likewise her attire is simple, a black cloak, a pale blue top and a long black skirt with a small flower pattern on it. As is common with travelers she carries a belt with a few pouches and a larger bag swung over one shoulder, and her mandolin in a red bag with a bird embroidered on it over the other. During her travels she has likely found that a short sword hanging at her hips is also beneficial. Besides the sword and the mandolin bag the only thing that might get ones attention is the necklace she wears round her neck. Hanging from a fine silver chain are two flat pieces of mother of pearl, they both appear to have once been full circles with smooth edges, but each has been broken in half and the breaks wear jagged edges, if one looks closely the jagged edges do not match up to form a full circle.

Character: Volkmar Vanara of the Spiderguard
Player: Hammer
Race: Khordaldrum
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Chaotic good
Appearance: Volkmar has Silver Hair and Beard and a single braid with an emerald for some achievement of note. He wears the heavy black chain mail that is the signature of the Spiderguard.

Volkmar sports a deep scar across the left side of his face from where he was ambushed in battle as a young apprentice and he suffers from inner struggles about being taken by surprise and injured, so he wears an eye patch with the symbol of his deity, but flips the patch up when going into battle as fortunately he is able to see out of the damaged eye which he attributes to worshipping Ghardan Anglar.

Character: Aryan Twint
Player: emybear450
Race: Human (Chindari)
Gender: Female
Class: Mage
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Appearance: Short and petite, with pale, skin uncharacteristic of her mother's people. Dark brown hair, and riveting green eyes. Favors flowing clothing, usually of dark grays, of the plainspeople.

needed!

As you turn in your various character sheets, descriptions, etc, please consider the following:

What language(s) does your character speak?
My games do NOT have a "common" langauge (no such thing in the real world). Therefore, your character will speak the language of their homeland only, unless you have a good reason why they should speak another language.

Educated characters (usually mages, characters from wealthy backgrounds, and priests with formal education) are the exception to this - these usually get at least one free extra langauge.

All others need to get with me for a reason they have an extra tongue. Note that intelligence restrictions apply regarding your max number of languages.

This game will be set in southern Ertain, so to be able to communicate with the locals, you'll need to speak Apanonese (the language of Ertain, Coria, and Pardinal). The other prevelant human tongue is Drannese (spoken by Drannon and Sendria). All other races/nationalities speak a native tongue.

A (full?) list of languages:
Drannese (Drannon and Sendria, though different dialects)
Apanonese (Ertain, Coria, Pardinal... again, different dialects)
Vidarak
Lendoreon
Chindari*
Yanatheran*
Arvox Corrolyan*
Sylvari
Khordaldrum
Cidal
Brathunspar
Slaa'karn
Kelden
Kazari
Ungoulid
Crunaik
Gruellok
Anathari+
Chakrandrum+

* - these languages have a common root; while they are distinct tongues, those who can speak one can usually muddle through the others enough for basic communication
+ - these languages are dead tongues, spoken (or read) only by scholars.

What sort of religious beliefs does your character hold?
Please note that religion is part of daily life in Audalis. For a brief overview, check the "religion in Audalis" article on this site.

Most people have one or two deities that they honor. Atheism is almost unheard of; it is commonly accepted that those who have no divine patron are destined for a very bad afterlife.

If you want to really irritate the DM, please reference a deity not found in the Audalis pantheon during my game. For the hundredth time, Corellon DOES NOT EXIST HERE!

Your character does not have to be religious, and you don't have to do any deep reading... but it would be a good idea to at least browse the list of deities and pick one that your character pays lip servive to.

Apologies

For not asking earlier about Player's Options Rules ...

Cleared up in your PM, as far as I'm concerned. Will revise and re-submit in compliance with core rules.

I'm starting to get really excited about this game; Shianna already has two good friends...

I can't wait!

Am also ...

..... looking forward to this unique adventure to get underway!

Especially with a group of players I have not adventured with other than being in one of Raralae's games and contributing to its slowness!

Noting

that the males in this playing group are out-numbered two-to-one, I wonder if Hammer and I should relegate ourselves to the posts of "harem guards", or even "token males" ...

hehe

Personally I am voting for 'token males'
It will be interesting to see how the vast amounts of estrogen coursing through this game will shape it.

I can't wait for Monday so this adventure can begin.

Should we post up little char profiles on here since our characters have known each other a little while at least?

M.

nah

No need to post anything yet. I'll be posting some character overviews and a small background for what the party has been doing up to this adventure.

...

Two men hmm? That constitutes a (small) harem for my paladin of Oriana.

...*sighs* ...It'll do I suppose.

On a more serious note, I'm looking forward to the game too.

Hehe

Two-Four Male-Female ratio is nothing. As Ginafae could tell you, back when Kaelyn style was just starting, a total of one forest gnome barbarian made up the entire male population. By comparison there were...counting... five girls including a drow and an aasimar.
