Ruh-roh
You know we're in trouble when we have to resort to obscure Chinese philosophers. Next you'll be quoting Clausewitz.

PM's on Ulthoks action...
Ginafae and RPN check your PM for my post. Let me know what you think.
Also Tomiki's damage rolls get increased by multiplying by 1.1.
Wow, Ulthok is really hurting, he can't take another direct hit.

Tann............
Ok, just to add to possible actions.
If Ulthok would change into another form, his ring would still work on that form too.
So that he vanished, change into something and then attack in that form. Would that kind of attack get any sneak attack bonus?
Sirene was flying in the room before, so how high is the ceiling?

Oopsy...
I miss read that to mean he took that much damage, not his remaining hit points. I think I've been getting that wrong all along, durp!

Rayne....
If Rayne is back down the stairs maybe she should look over the iron weapons, I'd think there would be an iron hammer or mace in that pile even though we weren't so specific on all the weapons. She can use them and inflict damage with the iron heads.
If that a fair assumption?

Monster Summoning?
Monster Summoning might be a useful spell for Ulthok to cast, if only because it'll give the bugs some other targets to chew on.

Obscure?
I hardly think of Sun Tzu as Obscure; most people know of him even if they dont know his sayings. Just because we quote him doesn't mean we are in trouble; just the opposite, we are thinking rather than just reacting.
Ok now to the post; read it through and it looks ok to me. I will base my response upon yours and post mine after yours is up Ody.

Here we go............again......
Go for it RPN!
Thanks for the spell check, Ginafea.
BTW, I read "The Art of War" as prep to play this game.
Now i don't remember a lot of it but it does make you think a bit differently. Luckily we don't have to worry about running an army.

If an army was as organized as we are their enemy would just have to sit back and watch them self destruct

Monster vs. Monster.....
This could be a good action, might get us up to four more fighters. Good suggestion Gina.
It could be followed by Summons Shadow, which would bring three shadows to fight for us too.
Monster Summoning III
(Conjuration/Summoning)
Range: Special Components: V, S, M
Duration: 4 rds. + 1 rd./level Casting Time: 5
Area of Effect: 50-yd. radius Saving Throw: None
This spell is much like the 3rd-level spell monster summoning I, except that this spell
summons 1d4 3rd-level monsters. These appear within the spell's area of effect and attack
the caster's opponents, until either he commands them to cease, the spell duration expires,
or the monsters are slain. These creatures do not check morale and vanish when slain. If
no opponent exists to fight, and the wizard can communicate with them, the summoned
monsters can perform other services for the wizard.
The material components of this spell are a tiny bag and a small candle.

What do you mean by that? Sounds a tad bit insulting to me.

*shrugs*
Even if it was meant as a criticism, I'm not sure I'd agree. Even the best plans are derailed by circumstance and the chance roll of the die. That's part of what makes D&D enthralling (even if at our level death is not always permanent).

what i meant
We make a plan, sometimes. Then everyone does whatever they think best no matter if it was planned or not. Not meant to insult just an observation that I found funny since everyone is quoting a military strategy book. The current plan was to form an arch, hold there, let the weaker folks kill the injured and then join in on the rest. Lasted all of one half of one round before someone changed the plan. Now on round two we are all over the place with ideas. Sometimes that works for us but somtimes it doesn't. An army that acted that way would be doomed to defeat as each commander and/or soldier deceided to do whatever they thought best without regard to the side-effects.
Now, game on! The summoning spell is a good idea and it does indeed fit the origional plan. :-)
on a side note: Cor will no longer be party leader after this fight. He would rather be doing his own thing also and as a dwarven knight-cleric he has no intention of trying to lead those who want to exercise free thinking and actions during the fights. Whoever wants the leader spot can have it. :-)
