To the group - A couple of these I asked above, but since they came in later in an edit I want to put them here again. Decisions needed so weigh in even if you aren't sure. Say something.
1. Is there a reason to pick a direction? I don't know of one. If we don't have a reason to make a choice I'd say stick next to one of the walls - it seems to offer the best chance of not getting lost. To pick one, I'd head left.
2. Is there a way to get a clue about a choice? This means a pathfinder spell of some sort, perhaps? (Talca is a ranger and can try tracking, but it beholders are the primary travelers here, I suspect they don't leave much for tracks. Then again, if there are tracks . . . ) Can anyone fly? Would going up give us a better vantage point? (Where'd yah go Peri?) How high can they go an remain veiled? Divination spell of some sort?
3. How long does the veil spell last?
4. Do you think it is possible that this opens onto another plane? The super cold? The cyclops seemed to not know what was below his tower despite its power. Is there a way to check?
5. Are we concerned that this is taking us away from the tower? The time thingy was supposed to be in the tower.
6. I did not expect the wall to have been blown out from the tower. I kinda expected it to be how the beholders got into the tower. But now, whatever made the opening was already on the inside. Did tower denizens invade the cave instead of the other way around? Tann moved us through the room quickly so maybe it isn't an important clue, but it does strike me as odd and not at all what I expected.
Ok Tann, two more for you:
1. The cave is big. From the description I get the impression we can't see the far sides in any direction, right? Can we tell how high it is?
2. The beholder guards that we blew up at the top of the stairs - they appeared to be guards of some sort. Could we tell if they were guarding the stairs to protect someone from inside the tower going down into the cavern or were watching the stairs to prevent someone from coming out of the cavern into the tower? I know beholders can look both ways at once, but there would likely be a general sense of which way most of their eyes were looking. Which way was the central eye looking?
And that is all for now.
I just liked this one because it made me think of the beholders. Go spell casters!
