Distence

I'd say roughly a little less then two miles. Your way out of any attack spell range. Yes there are numerous boulders and rock heaps up until the end of the map where the green arrow points. From there its roughly 2,000 feet to the first Beholder. The 3 moving to the south will likely be gone but the way sound carries in caves they may hear any fight and come rushing back.

Plans

So, what now? I was sort of assuming that we would attack those at the ice, but we could follow those leaving and deal with them once they enter the tower. If they did so they would be in a nicely confined space for mass spells and we could quickly take out all 3. I'm not sure if it is a wise plan, but it might be possible There is also the question of how far sound will carry.

Tann: How fast are the beholders moving? Is catching them possible? How far away would our paths cross? Could we beat them back to the tower entrance?


On the other hand, we could take on the 7, I think, left at the ice. 3 are nicely clumped together around the figure. But that leaves 4 spread out. Some thoughts/questions.

1. Are they doing anything? Is there any kind of a rush to get something done? Or if we left and came back in a week would we find the same thing? (In part this is about - do we have time to hunt the other three? How far away can we let the other three get before attacking?

2. Is there a way to get the others to clump together?

3. The spell stays even if we attack, right? If we could get within range of fireballs and such, could we blast the 3 grouped together and when the others come floating (assumption?) we slip away? Not far, but so they can't identify our location to retaliate? This assumes they can't do a dispel magic type of thing from where they are.

4. If we fire off a bunch of fire spells around the smaller ice bulb, what impact will that have on it? Do we care?

5. Right now I think all we know is that these ice blocks glow, but we don't know anything else. Is it worth the risk of investigating further? If so, how?

Three more for Tann:

1. Does it look like the clowns are doing anything or just floatin' there?
2. How far apart are the ones near the ice?
3. Do we have any sense of the range of their spells? We saw several go off against us earlier.

No they are moving much too fast for you to catch them or beat them back to the entrance from where you are unless you did so magically. Haste, Fly things like that.

Nope the four by the ice seem to be guarding it while the 3 by the ice cone seem to be watching it, more then guarding it. As to the distance before attacking they seem to be able to move quickly so hard to call. The cavern don't forget is HUGE though look how long it took you to get here.

1. Does it look like the clowns are doing anything or just floatin' there? Floating in a guard type stance, clown faces pivoting all around the area they are guarding. It would seem to be not easy to sneak up on them all.

2. How far apart are the ones near the ice? Roughly 150 to 200 yards apart

3. Do we have any sense of the range of their spells? We saw several go off against us earlier. No that was all close combat in a hallway so you have no real clue what the ranges are. Remember the faces have different powers, so no telling the range of each face.

I'll Try Harder.......

Sorry for being out of recently. Work has been interesting to say the least and I went in for med checkups and ended up getting blood work and xrays. This weekend was "Honeydew" getting the stuff out for Christmas.

I'll try to catch up. and help hello to our new Roan. I am so glad to see someone play him, he's got some great stuff and can be a great help in a fight.

Ok no post Sun 10th

Ok thanks to Odyson I can again reopen my files but to resave them I have to reformat them to a docs file. As such you all get 1 more week to get a good plan together. Trust me this is a hard 2 part fight coming up but its not one that you can't win. If you use good judgement, good tactics and the magical gear/spells/abilities you have you can win it and go back home.
