Doctor, Doctor

"Who is Petrie Tubbs? Stephanie asked

"The Reverend's Son." Mrs Wilson replies with an air of despair in her voice. "Oh my."

"He ain't like his dad. He said he hates his dad and the Governor. That people deserve to be treated as equals. He said he loved me."

"Oh dear, men always say that. They say lots of nice things and then they are gone." Mrs. Wilson said ruefully.

"I don't know about all men but I do know Petrie and I believed him."

"So why did you run away then?"

Chloe stops talking for a moment and looks away. She then looks back at you and says, "I told Petrie that I thought I was pregnant. He wanted to tell his father and get permission to marry me. I wasn't showin' yet but I knew if they saw I was with child, I would be punished and my baby would be taken from me. Petrie said to just wait and he would take care of things. But he didn't come back. I waited and waited and then the Reverend came to visit.

"I overheard the Governor and the Reverend talkin'. They were talkin' about the plan they had where they were offerin' to free the servants if they married the hands. But their plan was that our debt was handed over to the Hand, not forgiven at all. Our husbands would therefore own us as property. There was somethin' called a loophole that allowed them to give the Governor more territory and land but parcellin' off the land to newly married couples. And then I found out that the Reverend wanted me handed over immediately to a Hand named Duncan. He was very insistent and told the Governor I was a wicked whore who violated his son and I needed to be taken care of. So I slipped out the back and I ran and I didn't stop runnin' until I fell in the dark and then Mrs. Wilson found me and brought me here."

As she spoke, Stephanie used her "gift" to read the baby health and Chloe. The young lady was exhausted, in bad health nutritionally but overall would recover. The baby was was also in good health but the stress of the mom was not good for the child. Stephanie felt it was not in danger but would prefer to examine the child in her medical lab to be sure.

"Everything here appears to be relatively good," Stephanie said and interrupted the talking of the father and the family situation and turned it to the more important items, "but to be sure I would like to take her back to my Med bay on the ship. If that is alright with you Chloe?"

If it is, Stephanie turned to Mrs. Wilson and asked, "Is there a way to get her to the ship with minimum exposure?" If she understood the situation, it would be best if the woman was kept out of sight as much as possible.

She turned away from the two woman and pulled out a Comlink that had been given to her when she joined the ship, "Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

(Assuming a reply)

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?" She intended to take the woman there, she needed treatment and she was going to tend to it, but it was Captain Sung's ship and he had a right to know and even object if he had a good reason. If he has no objection, she was going to help Mrs. Wilson in taking Chloe to the ship by whatever circuitous route was available.

(If Sung objects, Stephanie will respond as needed)

Once they reach the ship, she would get Chloe on the med table and break out her med scanners and give her a full workup. She wanted to know why she was bleeding and to see for sure if there was harm to the baby. She would give the girl a shot of something to help with her poor nutrition and exhaustion. Once she was done with her workup, she would have to see if there was any meals prepared to feed the girl, as she and her baby could use it.

Quick like a bunny...

"Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

"Go ahead, Miss Stephanie," Sung rumbles into the receiver. Every time he interacts with their newest shipmates he can't help but feel a hole open up in his chest. Gorram it, but I miss Willow!

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?"

"She one of Sarafina's?" He's not sure it will make a difference when all's said and done. Pregnant women bring back some heavy memories of his own lost loves and to top it off, Wyatt is pretty sure he's read or heard somewhere that not helping a pregnant woman is bad luck.

(OOC: Will need an answer to know how to proceed...)

Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 2:00 PM PT

"Everything here appears to be relatively good," Stephanie said, "but to be sure I would like to take her back to my Med bay on the ship. If that is alright with you Chloe?"

"Yes. Of course. Whatever you think is best Doc."

Stephanie turned to Mrs. Wilson and asked, "Is there a way to get her to the ship with minimum exposure?" If she understood the situation, it would be best if the woman was kept out of sight as much as possible.

"Oh my." Mrs. Wilson said and Strephanie suspected that was the extent to how much she would ever let herself swear. "Right. Well. The barn where your bees were delivered is the closest to where your ship is, of course. But there will be quite a few hands there now attending to the shipment. Can we wait until dark? If we can then most will go off to the Slaughterhouse tonight and the one or two left could be easily be distracted?"

Stephanie turned away from the two woman and pulled out a Comlink that had been given to her when she joined the ship, "Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

"Go ahead, Miss Stephanie,"

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?" "She one of Sarafina's?"The Captain asked.

"Oh my!" Mrs Wilson exclaimed, "Can we tell your Captain she's one of Patience's? Will he still be willing to help? Believe me, Dr. Young, if Chloe is seen by anyone, it will get to Patience and that woman will stop at nothing to get what she thinks is her property."

Response to the Captain

Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 2:00 PM PT

Stephanie turned away from the two woman and pulled out a Comlink that had been given to her when she joined the ship, "Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

"Go ahead, Miss Stephanie,"

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?" She intended to take the woman there, she needed treatment and she was going to tend to it, but it was Captain Sung's ship and he had a right to know and even object if he had a good reason. If he has no objection, she was going to help Mrs. Wilson in taking Chloe to the ship by whatever circuitous route was available.

"She one of Sarafina's?"The Captain asked.

"We can trust Captain Sung," Stephanie said. He hadn't known the man long, but from what she had heard and seen of him, she had a feeling that he was a upright and trustworthy man. Turning back to the Comlink and relates to Wyatt the story of what is going on with Chloe and the fact that she is being sought after by Patience.

"I also believe it would be in the girl's best interest that Mr. Sarafina not know of the girl's presence either," she told the Captain, "I need to treat the girl to ensure her, and her baby's safety, but we can discuss what to do with her afterwards. I think if I wait till dark, and perhaps have Trish's assistance, we can slip her quietly to the ship while the men are all ‘busy' at the Slaughterhouse. So, do I have your permission?" Her words were questioning, but her resolve in this situation could probably be heard by the Captain even over the Comlink. She was meaning to treat this girl, it was what she did. She wasn't about to abandon anyone who needed her assistance.

Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 2:00 PM PT

Sung listens intently to the story coming across his device. This Chloe being sought after by Patience is luh suh in his mind. He has no beef with Whitefall's governor other than he don't care for oppressive government-types, but this perceived ownership of young girls sticks in his craw. Dark brown boots ring against the gangplank of the hall. Steel blue eyes dart about, peering from beneath the dipping rim of his hat, searching for sign of eavesdropping from any nearby. Miss Stephanie's description of Chloe's condition brings out the protectiveness in Wyatt he reserves for his crew and his lost family, and by the time the doctor enters into her finishing thoughts, he has already made up his mind.

"I also believe it would be in the girl's best interest that Mr. Sarafina not know of the girl's presence either," Stephanie tells the Captain, "I need to treat the girl to ensure her and her baby's safety, but we can discuss what to do with her afterwards. Her words are questioning, but her resolve in this situation can be heard by the Captain even over the Com link. She is meaning to treat this girl, it is what she does. She isn't about to abandon anyone who needed her assistance.

"I'll let Ma know t' expect ya," Wyatt stops his pacing and stares out the bay windows as he's ended his pacing at the door to the cockpit. "Don't know that this business has anything t' do with our host's, so I don' see no reason t' involve Eagle-Eye, but sounds like there could be ma fuhn should ya be spotted en route. I'll 'ave the Kid meet up with ya when yer ready t' make the journey t' offer some support should ya need it. Them's my terms, Miss Stephanie. Roc'll serve what hospitality she can 'til we're sure this shao jeh has a future.

"Where should Asher meet up with ya and at what time?"

(OOC: Assuming Stephanie isn't going to argue and offers up the information Wyatt is requesting...)

"Sheh sheh, Miss Stephanie. Keep safe." Ending the communication, Wyatt turns himself about and makes his way back to the ship's cargo bay.

Leaning over the rail, he gazes down on the empty cavity and calls out, "Kid! Where you at?" When Asher appears, Wyatt continues without any further preamble. "I need you t' escort Miss Stephanie tonight." He adds the information as to when and where so that the Kid has what he needs.

"Keep yer eyes peeled. This whole operation is jao gao and can go south perty quick. Dohn ma?"

(OOC: Any questions or further interaction with Asher will be played out as required...)

Roc's kitchen is the one place Ma can most likely be found on the firefly and it is there that Captain Sung first seeks her out. Ever the caring soul, Trish is exactly where he expects her to be, working at organizing their stocks and preparing that list that Dash asked for.

"Ma?" Wyatt leans against the bulkhead and catches the scarred woman's attention. "Miss Stephanie is bringing a pregnant girl aboard who's in some xiongmao niao with them high-'n-mighties 'bout these parts. Might be trouble come of harborin' the nianqing de here so I thought you might wanna be prepared."

A seriousness touches Ma's eyes and Wyatt knows without a doubt that the woman has suddenly adopted Chloe just as assuredly as he had just accepted responsibility for her on behalf of the whole crew. Pressing his lips together in approval, Sung dips his head in acknowledgement and makes his way back towards his quarters.

Time to pull up whatever information he can off the Cortex about the players Miss Stephanie had mentioned...

There is a long silence for a few seconds, then Stephanie sighs and then speaks, "Very well, though I don't see how a gun will help the situation." She knew that Wyatt was sending their resident gunman to escort them to the ship, and while she didn't hate guns, she was often on the receiving end of the results of their use.

"Where should Asher meet up with ya and at what time?"

Stephanie related their locations with the help of Mrs. Wilson, giving the best route to get to them which would minimize exposure and therefore suspicion, she hoped. "We'll stay put here till it gets dark and Trish and Asher have arrived. I'll let you know once we are on the ship."

"Sheh sheh, Miss Stephanie. Keep safe." Ending the communication, Wyatt turns himself about and makes his way back to the ship's cargo bay.

After the Captain signed off, Stephanie turned back to Mrs. Wilson and Chloe; walking up to the pregnant woman she laid a comforting hand on her arm. "Don't worry, we will wait here till dark and some of the crew of the Rocinante are coming to help move you. You'll be safe!" She hoped that would be the case; she was sure that once she got Chloe to the ship, she would be able to arrest any of her ills and ensure the safety of her and her baby.

Taxi..............

The crew had made their way to the Roc after the meal and the thank you's was done. With the invite to go to town from Eagle Eye they had to get their normal chores done and then make themselves town presentable like. Asher had been cleaning the cargo area where they'd had them bees secured. The cryo and wax remnants needed scrapping up and the holding straps coiled and stowed.

They'd been back a while when the Capt'n Leaned over the rail, he gazes down on the empty cavity and calls out, "Kid! Where you at?"
Hear'n Capt'n Wyatt's voice Ash trotted out to the center of the cargo bay so he could be scene.

Wyatt continues without any further preamble. "I need you t' escort Miss Stephanie tonight." He told him she'd be over at the barn where they took them bees and to get himself there as it was getting dusk. He adds that there'd be someone with the Doc but not to let anyone see them getting back to the boat.

"Keep yer eyes peeled. This whole operation is jao gao and can go south perty quick. Dohn ma?"
The kid didn't know what was up but if Capt'n Wyatt said to do it then do it he would.

When the deck was clean he lowered the mule and checked it out so that all was in good shape. He put soft padding in the back and pull a cargo tarp and tied it over back so looked it was covering some creates or something making a nice hidey hole for whoever was com'n back with Doc Stephanie.

The light outside started fading and Ash prepared to slide out. The soft whir of the ramp motors filled the bay as cargo doors opened and the ramp deployed. Ash was about to head out when he heard a metal tapping on the gang way. Looking back around he was surprised to see Ma coming his way. She had her crimson hooded cloak on and had tapped her pink shotgun Bessy on the rail to get his attention.

"Ma.. you looken to come along?" Trish nodded and walked over and sat beside Ash. "Well this sure is get'n more interesting, you ain't come out on a ride with me for while." Of course the last time was when they both nearly died tryen to save them rich folks what got kidnapped for that fancy fiddle. Trish just pinched his cheek and pointed to head on out. She pulled up and tucked her hood as Asher throttled the mule forward.

It was few minutes and they were sliding up next to the barn. Doc Stephanie stepped out and looked around. There didn't seem to be anyone else around. Feeling it was all clear she waved to the barn and a young girl came poking out. It took the kid a second to realized she was moving slow was cuz she had a baby bump. Sighing the kid just thought "Oh my." It was also dawning on him that this was why Ma came along, she knew sumpthin more and her "Mothering" nature was in full gear.

Keeping her face hid so as not to shock the poor girl Ma guided her into the back and covered her with the tarp. Sitting in the back and holding her shotgun across her lap she nodded to Stephanie. Doc Stephanie then slipped into the seat next to Ash. With an impatient look she gave the kid a nod to get moving. Ash knew that look and they were off.

The mule glided into the cargo bay and Asher settled it to the deck. Doc Stephanie gathered the girl out from under the tarp and hurried her up to the sick bay. Trish followed behind but at a distance. When they were gone Ash remover the tarp and padding, he got the mule ready to head to town. The kid was sure the Capt'n would fill in the blanks so'd they know what they was supposed to and what they wasn't, just in case they was asked.

Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 7:00 PM PT
In a Verse known for things never going smoothly, the transfer of Chloe to the infirmary went off without a hitch. Once she was set up in the med bay, Wyatt let it be known that as soon as Wolf was back on board, times for a meeting. The mechanic arrived not long after and was called to the central eating area of the ship along with everyone else. Chloe was a young girl, with a look of innocence to her, but her eyes spoke of innocence lost and long since taken away.

Wyatt and Stephanie informed the crew of who Chloe was and why she was on board (you can read the backstory as posted before). They were a little vague on intentions at the moment but no one doubted that they would not help Chloe, it was just how and how to keep it quiet. Wyatt asked everyone to keep it to themselves and explained to Wolf that they'd rather not get Eagle-Eye involved if they could avoid it as to not raise trouble for him harbouring a fugitive when he was unawares.

(You may fill in details here as you see fit)

So it was that Wyatt, Wolf, Asher and Sam headed out to the slaughterhouse while Ma and Stephanie stayed behind with Chloe. Everyone had a comm on them, in case things decided to get unsmooth.

Interactions at the bar stay the same, and we are now on the same timeline. (Yay)

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, "The Slaughterhouse", 8:20 PM PT
"Excuse me?"

,Sam swallowed the liquor, wincing faintly at the burn it left in his throat, as his gaze turned to the rather sickly looking man who'd just approached.

"I am Saul Potter," the man offered, "I am looking for a ship to provide transport. Are you part of the crew of the firefly that landed on Sarafina's land? Are you looking for a cargo?"

"Yup," Dash returned, indulging in another sip of his drink as he sized the man up, "I'm th' pilot. Name's Dash. An' yeah, Potter Shian Shen, I reckon we's always lookin' fer a cargo. Fella's gotta eat, dohn mah?" Sam offered an affable grin, then, and, with his glass, gestured toward where Wyatt sat; "Th' Cap'n's over there. Serious lookin' fella wit' th' serious lookin' hat. He's th' one ya'd wanna talk to ta get the deal done proper," Another sip of the whiskey brought Dash's eyes back to Potter, then, and he lifted a curious brow; "What's yer cargo, puhn yoh?"

Mr. Potter looked over at the Captain and back at Sam. Sam notice the bulge in the gentleman side denoting a shoulder holster and the pilot would have bet good money it was a small service pistol from the war. Just something this man screams efficient but not showy.

"Myself, three passengers, one being an older man., plus some equipment, tools and the like, and a number of hydrogen fuel cells about ten maybe. Going to Pegasus." Potter spoke quietly and sipped his drink to see Sam's reaction. "When you looking to leave? I have some business to take care of but tomorrow night is looking really shiny. Suoyou de dou shidang? (does that sound proper?)"

(Elsewhere in the bar)

Weighted down with Wolf's gear draped over his shoulders Ash chuckled,"Well it looks as if I'd at least be able to protect you,. I don't mean to be too forward but do you need escort anywhere?"

The redhead snorted and shook her head. "Thanks all the same Kid, but the only place I want to go is deep into this bottle, and then trade my body for a soul. Not like ," she stops for a second and then starts crying, not loudly but tears welling into her eyes.

(and elsewhere)

he game begins with a fair amount of chat going on across the table—these are men that know each other well. Wyatt plays a few hands and watches his potential client through the corner of his eye. Surprisingly, after a while, Potter picks up his drink and walks over to Sam. This'll be interestin'. he allows a momentary distraction from the pair of twos in his hand and leans back a bit in his chair to stretch out the tenseness in his shoulders. He trusts Sam, but he also knows that the pilot has a bit of a mouth on him. A conversation with Sam Dash can go any direction.

Straining his ears, Captain Sung attempts to discretely catch anything that is said at the bar. He picked up the gist of what was said by Potter and mulled it over in his mind. Timing was right. He noticed Wolf had left the bar, leaving Ash with most of his weapons. Wherever the mechanic was going, he obviously wasn't looking to start trouble. Not that he really needed a weapon to start trouble.

And Asher was talking with the prettiest girl in the bar. Well, Some things don't change.

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, On the street outside "The Slaughterhouse", 8:20 PM PT
Wolf walked down the street toward the tavern called the Dewdrop or as the local referred to it, "The Honeydew". The night air was cold and refreshing, and there night sky was clear and full of stars. Wolf noticed that the guy kicked out of the Slaughterhouse was pacing outside "The Wreckage", a bar for scrap haulers. He was drinking straight out of the bottle with one hand and holding something small and square in his other hand that he really couldn't take his eyes off. Wolf had seen a man rejected before, and this clearly looked like one to him. He arrived at the Dewdrop, a two story "inn" very similar in design to ,well every other lace in this town.

Inside, there was a small foyer and sitting area, decorated in red velvet and white lace. There was one door beyond the entranceway and it was steel reinforced and looked thick. An older lady was at the counter, looked up at Wolf and smiled brightly. "Well welcome stranger! You new in town? You got hardly a rind on you, may need to give you a discount? Now all weapons got to be checked, and I mean all. Knives, guns, little guns, whatever. You get a key to the box, and we ain't lost anyone's yet. There the main room when you go in, and the girls all have their own rooms so you can have privacy. We prefer you keep your business in the rooms, nobody wants to be compared to a big boy like you, I'm sure. Why you are as big as Bart by my reckoning. Small, Medium, or Large? The box, I mean. And do you want to go from the menu or pay the one price for the night?"

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, Rocinante,, 8:20 PM PT
Stephanie checked Chloe's vitals for the umpteenth time as the young girl slept. The doctor had wondered if Chloe would need something to rest but once made comfortable and safe, the girl nodded off quickly on her own.

Both mother and child were medically okay. They had been through a lot, more than any young mother had gone through but they were safe for the meanwhile now. But if her life on Destiny had shown her anything, it was that things rare stayed quiet long. There were people hunting for this girl.

Ma passed the infirmary again, looking in quietly. The older woman had changed into what looked like a full suit of battle armour in bright pink. Stephanie had been around war enough to recognize rea armour, but the colour was a complete mystery - although it did match the pink shotgun that Ma had slung on her back.

People were hunting for this girl. Well, they'd have to go through Ma first.

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, "The Slaughterhouse", 8:20 PM PT

Interesting, Wyatt ponders while returning his eyes to the terrible hand he holds. Sam's comin' across as the business end o' the crew... The thought amuses Captain Sung more than he would ever publicly admit. Shifting his steely gaze from the cards to the pot, the half-Asian gives his head a slow shake and places the twos face down on the table.

"Fold." Glancing over his shoulder he adds, "Gonna go see what drink 's available. If'n y'all will excuse me the luxury."

(OOC: Assuming no objections.)

Rising from the table, Wyatt adjusts the resting position of his hat to a more approachable backward slant and strolls over to the bar. Placing himself at Sam's back and thus putting the pilot between himself and Saul Potter, Sung casually pretends not to have overheard any part of their conversation.

"Lager," Wyatt drawls while secretly determining not to succumb to the growing desires for the crisp brew. The need for the drink is an act to put him close enough to the conversation going on between Sam and Saul in case the latter wishes to involve him. No matter how good she looks, Sung assures his inner voices, I won't be drinkin' her.

Business as unusual

Another sip of the whiskey brought Dash's eyes back to Potter, then, and he lifted a curious brow; "What's yer cargo, puhn yoh?"

Mr. Potter looked over at the Captain and back at Sam. Sam noticed the bulge in the gentleman's side denoting a shoulder holster and the pilot would have bet good money it was a small service pistol from the war. Just something this man screams efficient but not showy.

"Myself, three passengers, one being an older man., plus some equipment, tools and the like, and a number of hydrogen fuel cells about ten maybe," Potter replied quietly, "Going to Pegasus."
"Pegasus, huh," Sam said, mentally calculating fuel consumption, flight time, and distance to the moon, "Fairly decent haul, an', I reckon we got bunks enough." The pilot tossed back the remains of his whiskey then and, as he slid the empty glass to the server's side of the counter in an unspoken request for a refill, he offered the ailing man a nod; "If'n ya c'n pay, Mr. Potter, I figger we c'n get ya where ya wanna go."

"When you looking to leave," Potter asked, then, "I have some business to take care of but tomorrow night is looking really shiny. Suoyou de dou shidang?"

"Hmmm," Dash answered, rubbing at a whisker stubbled cheek as he considered the question, "Can't say fer sure. We got some business ta tie up wit' Eagle-Eye, need ta get Roc fueled up an' look ta provisions - ‘specially as we gonna be takin' on you an' yours, Things go smooth, though, da yeh (sir), I ain't seein' as where t'morrow night'll be a problem,"

Dash's attention is diverted for a second by the barkeep's return. He offers the man an appreciative nod as his drink is refilled, then, reclaiming his glass and indulging in a sip, he turned his eyes back to Potter. "How ya lookin' ta pay?"

Interesting looking place :)

"Need you to hold my weapons for me, I gotta do some recon and don't want to look to menacing. I got my Derringer, 1 combat knife and my utility knife so I should be good for what I got planned. If you don't hear from me in 3 hours tell the Captain that I went here"

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, On the street outside "The Slaughterhouse", 8:20 PM PT

As Wolf walked down the street toward the tavern called the Dewdrop or as the local referred to it, "The Honeydew". The night air was cold and refreshing and there night sky was clear and full of stars, certinally not something found in space on the Rocinante. Though the mechinac loved the firefly class ship it was still the rare moments like this he was happy to take in. As he got closer to the bordello he noticed that the guy recently kicked out of the Slaughterhouse was pacing outside "The Wreckage", a bar for scrap haulers.

Giving the "inn" a quick look over, marking side doors and windows in his mind, he headed up to the door and went I.

Inside he saw at once was a small foyer and sitting area, decorated in red velvet and white lace. There was a single thick looking steel reinforced door beyond the entranceway with an older lady at the counter. Looking up as the big Mehcanic walked in she smiled at him brightly.

"Ok wow, well ma'am" Looking around he made himself seem as if he was blushing "I have never been to a place like this before to be honest. I'm new on planet and been on ship for months now and I heard of this place and ahhh thought I'd come over. Ahhh what's a rind?"

As he listened to her answer he started to remove what weapons he had taken with him First went the derringer, then the folding knife, and finally the second of his 2 Gerber combat knives. With everything placed in the box he continued to listen to the older ladies instructions.

Stary Night...........

The redhead snorted and shook her head. "Thanks all the same Kid, but the only place I want to go is deep into this bottle, and then trade my body for a soul. Not like ," she stops for a second and then starts crying, not loudly but tears welling into her eyes.

Ash unwrapped Wolf's gear and piled it on the bar. "Well I ain't never found nothing at the bottom of a bottle, hell I ain't never been able to get to the bottom of a bottle. " He pushes the Mudder's milk back and laid out some cash to cover the cost.

Noticing the slight tear in the woman's eye, "I gotta stow this stuff out it the mule,. You know it was look'n like a fine night out there, a person might find their soul in the stars,.,I could use some company and maybe get showed the town a bit. It'd be nice to have fine lady as yourself to be that one,.would ya come for a walk with me?" The kid gave her sheepish smile and a little nod of his toward the door.

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, "The Slaughterhouse", 8:30 PM PT
Pegasus... The first that passed through Sam and Wyatt's mind on mention of Pegasus was how little they actually knew of it. It is a moon of Bellerophon, and beyond that it has never been on your list of places you visited. Alliance was gonna build a base there during the war but the war ended before they could finish it. It was about two days away, three if you were ghosting.

Dash's attention is diverted for a second by the barkeep's return. He offers the man an appreciative nod as his drink is refilled, then, reclaiming his glass and indulging in a sip, he turned his eyes back to Potter. "How ya lookin' ta pay?"

"Well, that depends on the fare? How about 500 credits and I could part with 5 of the fuel drums if you were willing?" Potter asks politely. He appears relaxed but his eyes are constantly moving around the room like he expecting something to jump out at him.

"So whaddya think, Wyungsung? Mr Potter here's lookin' ta get hisself, a couple o' his puhn yohs, an' some gear off world...

(Note 5 fuel drums is about 100 hours of fuel for a firefly. The drums are heavy and usually have an antigrav housing to help with hauling)

"Ok wow, well ma'am" Looking around Wolf made himself seem as if he was blushing, "I have never been to a place like this before to be honest. I'm new on planet and been on ship for months now and I heard of this place and ahhh thought I'd come over. Ahhh what's a rind?" He started to remove what weapons he had taken with him.

The lady looked back at Wolf and smiled, "It's an expression, Sugar. Don't worry about it." She gave him a dubiously look that suggested she saw through Wolf's attempt at subterfuge, but that she didn't really care to challenge it. She locked up the weapons and put the box away, handing the key over to the mechanic along with a white chip, like for a poker game. "Honey, you give this to Earl at the bar and ask for Clementine. She'll show you what's what. First ride is free, after that, it is up to you." And with that she pressed a button under the counter that buzzed the huge steel door open.

The interior was a two-level split with the bar, lounge chairs and tables on the main level and then the upper floors being rooms upon rooms. Many women wearing all sorts of corsets and lace were on the main floor, some leading men up to the upper floor. There were four men with rifles at the corners of the second level, watching the crowd. They were all dressed in the same flannel shirts and vests, denoting that they worked here as security. A man was working behind the bar, with a bowler hat and a fine mustache.

It was not hard to spot Bart in the crowd though. He was in a booth with two ladies, wearing a white shirt, completely unbuttoned and black pants. Wolf could see he was a big man, extremely muscular and with many black tattoos of geometric patterns. His attention was on the women and not really paying attention to anyone else.

There was another familiar face her as well. The man Wolf met out on the range was here as well, Duncan. He, unlike any other patron was armed and was seated away from Bart but where he could keep an eye on the fighter. A lady was sitting with him, and there was something about her that stuck wolf as odd. It took a moment but then it dawned on him that the lady was made up to resemble the girl that the Doctor had snuck upon the ship - Chloe.

As Wolf looked around he realized that a lot of Patience's "deputies" were here. But only Duncan was allowed to carry a gun but the looks of things.

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, Outside of "The Slaughterhouse", 8:30 PM PT
Asher noticed the slight tear in the woman's eye, "I gotta stow this stuff out it the mule,. She looked at Asher, then to the bottle and then back at Asher and followed him to the door, "What's your name?" she asked.

(assuming an answer)

She nodded, "I'm Colleen. Colleen MacPherson." As you exited the bar, the night air was cold and refreshing, while the night sky was clear and full of stars. "I'm the pilot on Morgan Creek, a salvage hauler, Devon class. What you fly in on?"

(assuming an answer)

The guy you saw who was kicked out? That was Nelson O'Reilly, the engineer on our boat. My boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now. I don't know how I'm gonna fly out with him now. You need a pilot?"

(assuming a no)

"What a gorram mess! We been together for a year now and he is acting all strange like. You know how hard it is to keep a secret on a small boat right? Well I knew he'd bought a ring and was planning to pop the question. But the damn BUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-ROBUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-RO loses his nerve, gets drunk and has a fling with a barmaid the night before he plans on asking!!! Shee-niou FAY-FAY duh PEE-yen!!!! Go tsao de Liou coe shway duh biao-tze huh hoe-tze duh ur-tze!! Ching-wah TSAO duh liou mahng! " She curses loudly and then smiles sheepishly at Asher. "Sorry. The drink makes my tongue a bit liberal."

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, Rocinante, 8:30 PM PT
Ma came around to Stephanie with Mrs Wilson in tow. "I wanted to make sure everything is alright." She said properly, "I have put a great burden upon you."

"She is sleeping but she and the baby are well." Stephanie shrugged, "No greater burden than I would have myself. The question I have been contemplating is what now? The Verse is a big place for someone so young."

Mrs Wilson smiled, "Well I have a cousin working a farm on the southern end of Bellerophon continent. She said she could take Chloe in and the baby. She can even give you some credits for all your trouble when you get there."

"I'll tell the Captain that. Send me the coordinates so we know where to go and I will let you know what he says. I am not asking for money but the Captain may appreciate a contribution to the fuel costs."

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, "The Slaughterhouse", 8:30 PM PT

Pegasus, Wyatt draws up a mental map of the ‘Verse trying to place the distance they need to travel and what he knows of the destination. It's one of Bellerophon's moons if'n I remember correct. Two—maybe three if'n were runnin' quiet—days away. Wasn't there a Lián méng base being built there during the war?

Dash's attention is diverted for a second by the barkeep's return. He offers the man an appreciative nod as his drink is refilled, then, reclaiming his glass and indulging in a sip, he turned his eyes back to Potter.

"How ya lookin' ta pay?"

"Well, that depends on the fare? How about 500 credits and I could part with 5 of the fuel drums if you were willing?" Potter asks politely. He appears relaxed but his eyes are constantly moving around the room like he is expecting something to jump out at him.

"So whaddya think, Wyungsung? Mr Potter here's lookin' ta get hisself, a couple o' his puhn yohs, an' some gear off world,"

Holding up a hand to stall the barkeep, Captain Sung continues staring down at the battered surface of the counter as he considers the offer. We sure as hell ain't fuelin' Roc here—too aiya expensive. Five drums, let's see, maybe a hundred hours flight. That'll easily cover the trip t' Pegasus an' leave us some excess. Refittin' Roc'll be a little over one point five kay leavin' ‘bout four hun'red fer each o' the crew, Might be able t' get tha' up a bit.

"Well, puhn yoh," he verbally trudges forward, "I think it's a place t' start."

Lifting his pale gaze from the swirling pattern of the worked wood, Sung turns and leans his right elbow against the bar while tilting his hat back with his left hand. Meeting the business end of Potter's stare, he states (OOC: using Barter), "Shian Shen, I don' know if'n ya heard, but my crew is powerful strong, so yer not only gettin' transport but yer gettin' added professional protection fer yer delivery. So, this is what I'm conjurin' up; Eight hun'red plus the drums already on the table an' an additional five hun'red should there be a need t' engage in any kind o' cowboyin' plus the cost o' any munitions spent in yer service. Hazard pay, dohn ma?"

Don't mind me. Jus' standin' here doin that professional protection thing.

When Wyatt finally turned to engage Potter, Sam stepped out of the space between them, sipping at his whiskey and letting his eyes pan The Slaughterhouse again. Pegasus, he mused as the haggling commenced between Potter and the Captain, One o' Bellerophon's moons. That's about two days out, three if'n ya wanna keep off the scanners,

That particular thought forced Dash to tear his gaze away from a fine looking (at least from this distance) brunette across the bar and he glanced back over his shoulder at their potential passenger. The man was doing a good job of maintaining an air of relaxation, but there was something about the way his eyes skittered about. Sam had seen eyes like that before, Every time I look in a ruttin' mirror, and had felt them rolling around in his own head for nigh on seven years or better. They were the eyes of a man who wasn't just expecting trouble to be lurking in the shadows, he was plumb convinced it was there and aiming directly at him.

,Yeah, the pilot decided, tipping his glass to his lips, he's on th' dodge from somethin'. Takin' an extra day an' ghostin' it'll be somethin' ta keep in mind, I reckon.

He swallowed the whiskey as his thoughts turned back to what else he could recall about Pegasus. It wasn't much. As far as he could recollect, he hadn't even seen the place aside from, maybe, a distant fly by or two. He kind of remembered hearing something, toward the end of the war, about the Alliance building some kind of base there. What kind of base, though, and whether the thing got finished or even started, for that matter, were details that Sam's memory couldn't call up. That fact, coupled with Potter's twitchy eyes, stoked an ember in the coals of Dash's own paranoia.

What're ya runnin' from, lao sheong, he wondered, managing to keep from asking the question aloud by pouring another taste of whiskey past his lips, an' what peck o' trouble're we gonna get into if'n we're caught with ya?

",So, this is what I'm conjurin' up," Wyatt was saying, then, "Eight hun'red plus the drums already on the table an' an additional five hun'red should there be a need t' engage in any kind o' cowboyin' plus the cost o' any munitions spent in yer service. Hazard pay, dohn ma?"

"If ya wanna kick it up to an even thousand," Sam interjected, turning to face the men, "I figger I could see to it as we get there quiet-like." He shrugged a little. "It'd take an extra day but we'd keep off the scanners an' outta the sight o' any pryin' eyes, get me?"
