This Friday's game

Did you want to try to rest in (or near) the caves overnight then?

Since we haven’t actually run the adventure yet, the polls are still open from last week. The only other person I’ve heard back from so far is Kaelyn.

As far as I can tell, here are your options. I’m happy to run the next adventure either way.

1. Head straight on and kill Thalgrim before the alarm can be raised.
2. Try to find somewhere to rest overnight, replenish your spells and then head back into the mountain.
3. Head back to Caer Hwarnsvalon to rest and resupply.
4. Cut your losses and head back south to Bridhvale.
5. Any other option you might think of.

Oh, and is everyone okay with starting at 9 again this Friday? We can keep going with 10 if you'd prefer.

That’s great, glad to hear you’ll be able to make it.

Also, we’re going to have at least one (and possibly two) new players joining us this Friday. I’ll try to write them both plot hooks to where you are at the moment over the next couple of days.

So… if anyone would prefer to stick around in the caves and finish off Thalgrim then please just let me know. If not, I’ll go with the responses I’ve had so far and assume that you’re all heading back to Caer Hwarnsvalon.

If we have three new players

minimum with us, then we may be able to stay within the cave and face Thalgrim.
Iskande, Vanima, another, (and possibly one more)
WE might be able to make it lol

Just let me know what you’re doing…

… and I’ll write up the adventure.

Any new characters would need to start off separately, but hopefully you should be able to meet up relatively quickly. I’m fairly sure that Vanima was with you last time… didn’t she fireball the trolls?

Stryke’s going to be joining us with a gnomish bard this Friday. We might also have another player or two (a couple of people have responded to the ad I posted on Dragonsfoot yesterday) but I haven’t heard anything definite.

From page 13

To recap, here are the stats I've got for you all at the moment. You'll also have the magic items in your inventory (on the first page) to fall back on. If you do decide to head straight on and fight Thalgrim then it might be worth burning a few healing potions at least.

Hit Points:

Arys: 9/40, Emmerus: 39/45, Isilifeline: 40/40, Joshua: -3/20 [stabilised], Thordalf: 19/20, Valendara: 22/22, Vanima: 30/32

Spells Left:

Emmerus:

Cure Light Wounds
Chant
Flame Blade
Call Lightning
Dispel Magic

Valendara:

Charm Person
Blindness
Aid
Hold Person
Prayer

Vanima:

Magic Missile [x2]

yeah...

that's why I said that i need to learn new spells, didn't we agree to rest so us spell casters could memorize more spells?

Resting

That’s one of the things I’ve been trying to ask you over the last week…

As I see things, here are your choices.

1. Heading on to kill Thalgrim straight away.
2. Trying to find somewhere to rest overnight and then heading on to kill Thalgrim.
3. Heading back to the dwarves.
4. Any other option.

Finding somewhere safe to rest in the caves or nearby might be problematic… since the orcs are bound to notice that their shaman’s missing at some point soon. You've also left your horses tethered outside. On the other hand, the rewards might be worth it.

So if you want to rest then just let me know what you’re doing. I’ll decide whether you’re discovered or not and we can start the adventure from there.

Welcome to the party

Okay then, I’ve added Stryke’s character to the party roster and taken off everyone who isn’t currently playing. Someone from the Dragonsfoot boards has also told me that they’re definitely interested in joining the group… not sure if they’ll be able to make it this Friday though.

If anyone would like to tell me what you’re actually doing tomorrow then more power to you.

I’m guessing that it’s either going to boil down to option 1 or 2 on the list above. If not, then I’ve probably got enough notes to wing it.

my choice

I wanna find somewhere to rest, and depending on how many of us there are, perhaps go after the dork...but I say we rest and memorize spells, and decide then.

sure.

let' "try" to find a means to sleep overnight, identify items and rest and the likes, but if not, I guess we just charge on ahead (And hope new players find us along the way lol.

Sounds like a plan

If everyone could get their spell choices to me at some point before play starts then that would be great. I can’t guarantee that you’ll have the chance to use them, though… That will depend on some of the choices you make IC.

I’ve been thinking about allowing your characters a slight boon for tonight’s game.

According to the rules you need to sleep uninterrupted for a full night before you can start regaining spells (I think the same applies in 3rd edition).

I’m willing to tweak this rule slightly for the next adventure. With the benefit of a few hours’ sleep your characters might be able to recoup a couple of their spell slots.

If these spells are used then they’ll count against the number you’ll be able to cast for the following day. A full night’s rest will still allow a character to recover their full daily allowance.

If this one comes into play at all then it will just be on a trial run. Depending on whether it works the way I want it to or not it might or might not be an advantage that you can rely on it the future.
