Stadate: 2366.10.22
USS Discovery, CSO's Office, 1243

=/= Lt Hemlos, Ensign Talda is here per your request=/=

=/= Thank you, please send him in =/=

Ensign Caleb Talda arrived in less than 15 minutes after being summoned to the CSO’s office, PADD in hand. His eagerness didn’t surprise Chantelle, she had come to expect it of him. He was a good science officer, one she could always depend on to have accurate reports completed before their scheduled due date. She was certain with his background in biology and his interest in botany he would be an excellent addition to Keely’s research team.

The door swooshed open to allow the young Ensign access as Chantelle straightened the litter of handwritten notes scattered across her desk.

“Hello Ensign. Thanks for coming on such short notice” she said as she gestured for him to take a seat on the opposite side of her desk. “I’ve asked you here to discuss a temporary duty assignment. I need you to join Lt. Keely’s team to help research the Rautos Prime Vaccine. In addition, I’m hoping that with your help, we may be able to determine if the Rautos and Alodrian viruses have commonalities. Needless to say if there are, it would be a major breakthrough, one which could be vital in saving thousands of lives.”

The Ensign listened attentively as Chantelle detailed the assignment.

((OOC: Talda ‘accepts’ the assignment ))

“Beginning alpha shift tomorrow, please report to Lt. Natlie Keely in the Xenobotany lab. She will have the specifics on what they have found so far”

(( OOC: TAG Olan ))

Ok Av,
Chan will be sending Talda to Xenobotany shortly.
Don't hurt him

Olan plays Talda so I assume he will be posting his comments etc. ?? Is that right Olan or can we play him as we see fit?

Fan, that's a beautiful area and at Christmas...Absolutely gorgeous. I love that part of the country.
Have a WONDERFUL holiday!!

Val...although your version of a romantic evenning isn't the norm, I imagine it could be fun with the right person

Av...I'm surprised. I figured you of all people would have a list a mile long But, yeah, that sounds real nice too. Not having any children, we do that a lot

Mine is a cozy little cabin, a full moon reflecting off a blanket of snow and a cuddlefest under a soft blanket in front of a fire...blanket and clothes are optional

I picture this to be out in the middle of a big open field with mountains all around, maybe Wyoming...sorta like the old Marlboro commercials

Ten Forward cont.

Chantelle listened as Natalie apologetically confessed she didn’t have many friends. “It certainly can’t be because she isn’t friendly or attentive” She reasoned to herself
“My guess is she just doesn’t make the time.”

Natalie looked at the clock and exhaled a big sigh. ((OOC: taking liberties with the dialogue here AV))
“Well I should be getting back to my research. I really appreciate the break and I promise I’ll take more of them” she said

The CSO stood as Natalie excused herself. “I hope so Lt. I’ll get with Ensign Talda this afternoon about joining your research team. I’m sure he will be eager to get started.”

“Thank you” she replied and turned to leave.

Chantelle watched as the young Lt walked away. Checking the time display over the bar she realized it was almost noon and she hadn’t checked in with the rest of her departments yet. “what a morning this has been. I hope Jack’s is going better now that the news about Ian is out in the open.” She thought as she gathered the PADD from the shiny grey tabletop and headed for her office.

Subject: Sleeping positions

Fetus

Those who curl up in the fetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

Log

Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

Yearner

People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

Soldier

Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

Freefall

Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.

Starfish

Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.

I have very vivid dreams so I move around a lot.

But I guess when I AM lying still, it would be the fetal position on my right side. Usually with Dax(one of my 3 cats)curled up next to me.

BTW...his name comes from "Curzon Dax"...remember the Trill on DS9?

Traditional Capricorn Traits

Practical and prudent (I agree somewhat)
Ambitious and disciplined (Ambitious? Depends on the situation. Disciplined? NOT AT ALL)
Patient and careful (Careful, yes, patient no)
Humorous and reserved (I agree completely)

On the dark side....

Pessimistic and fatalistic (I've always considered myself a bit of an optimist actually. Fatalistic?? I wouldn't say so)

Miserly and grudging (NO on miserly, and maybe a BIT of a grudger)

Also, I would add that I am STUBBORN. Sometimes that's a good trait sometimes not.

So THAT's their genre

Actually they are my hubby's CD's. He got both when in Germany a couple years ago. Nightwish is ok but I like Vanilla Ninja better.

I like "Tempest" too. They are an Irish band. See them a lot at clubs, pubs, festivals etc.

I'd LOVE to see Victoria Falls!!

But the place I most want to visit is the British Isles.
I've always thought of them as enchanted for some reason

Maybe it's cuz it's the land of Faieries and King Arthur and Leprechauns and Stonehenge...etc. etc. etc.

My hubby has been to Spain, South Africa, Jordan, Paris,
Greenland, Canada, Iceland, Germany, Italy and a few other spots I can't even remember now. I've only been to Germany and Alaska.
