USS Discovery, TAC Office, Deck 8 – 1228
Chantelle straightened her tunic as she waited anxiously outside Jack's door. The chief chimed Jack's office and told him "Lt Hemlos" was there to see him. Being announced as if she was merely a casual visitor assured her that at least for now, she and Jack had been successful in keeping their relationship as subdued as possible.
No sooner had the announcement been made than the door swished open for her. Jack was already on the front side of his desk in anticipation. He waited until she was fully inside the office and the door had closed behind her before he grabbed her hands and pulled her to him.
"Aye, yer jes the parson I wanted to see" he said as he gathered her into his burly embrace.
Chantelle let go of a deep sigh and responded enthusiastically with a warm kiss on his now smiling lips.
"I'm glad to see you too" she said, lingering against his broad chest. "I've been thinking about you all morning…to distraction, I might add”
Jack grinned broadly and continued to hold her. She could feel his heart beat through his uniform as she closed her eyes and embraced the scent of him.
"Aye, I've been thinking aboot you too love."
reluctantly he loosened his embrace but continued to hold her waist with his big but somewhat surprisingly soft hands.
"What brings ye to me lair lass?" he joked as he looked warmly into her eyes.
She smiled...contrary to popular belief, Jack MacTavish was disarmingly charming when he wanted to be and at this moment he wanted to be.
"I was wondering if you might have time for a quick bite to eat. It's getting late and I thought maybe if you hadn't eaten, we could go together."
: Eol...insert your own dialogue here please)::
::assuming he says yes among other things::
“ I don’t have much time, I have to get back to the lab for a meeting this afternoon, but I’ll give you my FULL attention until then” she cooed uncharacteristically.

Stardate: 2366.10.21
USS Discovery, Science Department 1215
Lt Chantelle Hemlos glanced at the watch on her slim wrist and realized she had forgotten to eat lunch. She rubbed her stomach as if to massage the grumblings away.
“ummm…guess that’s why I’m feeling nauseated. I wonder if Jack has had anything yet” she murmered to herself.
“Did you say something sir?”
Chantelle blushed. Ensign Talda who had been standing nearby was looking quizically at her.
“Oh, er no. I was just ah, thinking aloud” she said.
“How is that report coming along”? she asked…trying to take the focus off the personal conversation she was having with herself.
“It should be ready within the hour sir” He said as he shuffled a few papers around on his desk. “I took the liberty of extracting the core samples Geophysics supplied and matched them against the ones we have in our databanks. They look to be primarily the same with a few minor molecular exceptions. Of course one can never tell wha…” he continued on but Chantelle began to daydream and lose focus on what he was saying. She found herself back in Jack’s quarters the night before, lying in his arms, warm and safe…wishing she could talk herself into staying there til morning and knowing if she did, someone would undoubtedly see her leaving. She just didn’t want to deal with the repercussions of such an encounter. Jack already had enough on his plate to keep his stress levels high and she didn’t want to add fuel to fire with rumors swirling about in regards to his private life.
He had wanted her to stay…even said “please”, but she just wasn’t willing to make that move right now. They had known each for 7 months and though they had been intimate on more than one occasion, she just wasn’t ready to go to the next level.
“If I could just allow myself more freedom” she thought…
Ensign Talda’s voice broke her reverie…”excuse me sir?” he asked. Instantly she realized she had said it out loud.
She blushed again and brushed away a stray hair from her eyes.
“uh, yes...I was just saying that I ah, that perhaps we should ah, should maybe er…FREEZE them.”
Talda looked dumbfounded…”Freeze the core samples sir?” he asked incredulously. “Wouldn’t that cause them to become brittle and useless sir”
Chantelle stumbled for recovery and said in her haughtiest
Scientific tone…”Well of course it would Ensign!”
“now finish up that report so we can determine the correct procedure” adjusting her glasses as she slipped past him.
The door to the lab swished open and she disappeared before he could assimilate what just happened.
"whew...I gotta stop doing that!" she thought to herself...
"excuse me sir?" a voice said nearby...
Chantelle rolled her eyes and made her way to the TAC office.

Yes, Eol and I will be fleshing out the details of the relationship. It will be lots of fun seeing where it goes and how it affects Mac & Chantelle's public as well as personal lives. Who knows, Mac may actually become civil Nah...that wouldn't be any fun.
