proper cleaning and binding of the wounds will stabilize a patient that is near death for a limited time depending on the environment and conditions this could be as little as an hour or 2 or as much as a few days. this of course means that constant care is given and the bandages are changed and kept fresh etc. etc.

there are 3 woodsman up front that are wounded and moving the others are all dead or unconscious and you will have to check to know for sure. binding the wounds and using the herbalism prof. will keep the wounded from losing anymore HP's and bring dying characters back to 0 HP and holding for a limited time this will slow down the rate of travel for the wagons and the wounded will need to be attended during the voyage. over time this method will heal most of the wounds with stiches and splints etc. but several weeks will have to pass to regain lost HP's

Subject: rnd 3

The battle continues as the woodsman gets in a hard swing of his woods axe biting deep into the neck of the orc he's facing dropping it instantly. The lead orc let's fly his bolt as the woodsman whoops excitedly in a victory yell but it is suddenly cut short as the massive bolt smashes through his head spraying blood and brain matter on all those around the rear of the wagon. Trillian then unleashes his spell as the orcs at the wagon are trying to get up to continue their assault. Strange lights issue from his hands as the 4 orc at the wagon suddenly go slack faced and tumble down in slumber. The remaining group makes short work of the sleeping orcs as the hack into the unmoving flesh staining the wagon and the ground a violent red. Sprinkles and Muffin finish of the last struggling orc, Sprinkles holding it down as Muffin rips out it's throat. with that it suddenly get quite. as you all look for another threat the command orc let's out a growl and points at the group. He yells in a gutteral stunted common "WE KNOWS YOU NOW SPELLCASTER!!!" as he retreats in to the smoke and is quickly gone from view. Turn toward the front of the wagon you see the results of another battle. Several men lay on the ground bleeding and dying as well as at least 6 orcs. Carus is shouting orders at the few remaining standing as he tries to pull free one of the great bolts out of his shoulder. There are no remaining orcs visible just the dead.

looking at the spell you could make an arguement for either way so i will go with my players and it will only effect the orcs.

o.k. guys this is what it currently looks like. in the wagon we have T'sal on her back at the front with 2 orcs at the back all three are trying to get up(all 3 a little dazed). we have rat underneath the wagon with 2 wounded orcs on the groundat the back end of the wagon. Anvil is laying perpendicular to the wounded orcs(yes orc had big roll and your position also made you not have a target to swing at, you will need to get up) about 8 ft. in front of Anvil a woodsman is engaged with another orc beside them sprinkles and another orc are fighting with muffin closing. Higutulli is wrenching his axe out of a dead orc on the other side of the 2 orcs on the ground at the wagon. Behind him Trillian and another woodsman are trying to untangle themselves and get up of the ground. The command orc is still in his same position.

Thanks for giving me your rolls now please state your intended actions.

Subject: rnd 2

The battle continues as Rat launches another bullet from his sling that unfortunatly flies wide of the target as he ducks under the wagon. Anvil is knocked hard to the ground by an orc as it stands over him sword slashing down for the killing blow. Luckily T'sal manages to smash her staff into the orc's head changing the swords path as it tumbles and the sword slices into Anvil's leg instead of his heart. The orc continues down to the ground with a stunned look in it's eyes. The Orc's are screaming with bloodlust as the battle rages on. Hingutulli send his battle axe down with tremendous force in to the Orc struggling with muffin splitting it in twain as Trillian unleashes with his bow at close range the first drives deep into the shoulder of the other orc at the wagon and drives it down to the ground as the other arrow misses just high of the slouching creature. Sprinkles run hard at the other charging orc's and slames into one knocking it flying as the massive dog seeks it's throat. Muffin jumps up from the corpse at it's feet looking for another victim as the charging orc rush hard into the fight. 2 Orc's launch themselves into the air and on into the wagon. 1 slames into T'sal knocing her hard into the front of the wagon. The other smashes into Trillian sending him flying out the side of the wagon, he's bow fly's off into the air as he collides with one of the wagoneers coming around the side, both go down hard onto the ground. The other wagoneer comes hard around the other side of the wagon and runs head on into the last charging orc. they grapple and both swing but neither connect as the battle rages. Off in the Distance the lead orc has loaded his massive crossbow and now sights it in looking for a target. In the backs of all your minds you can hear the noise of another battle taking place at the front of the wagons. at this point none of you can see what is taking place.
this concludes the second round of battle. Anvil takes 3hp damage, T'sal 1hp damage, Trillian 1hp damage. ask away for any clarifications you need on locations and such.

sorry haven't had much time to devote hear lately still having massive supply shortages with all my fuels and such. It's really driving me crazy. anyway enough whining. what i'm trying to do is to get everyone to go ahead and make all the rolls that may become needed during an entire round of combat to help speed this up and so i can post the result in a story format. This keeps me from having to post each single action ie. having to post about who your trying to hit and then having to comeback and have poeople roll dam and the post about and so forth that's the main reason for this. It allows me to do all the little stuff at the same time and get a battle pictur in my head since none of us can actually get together and play(which would make this SO much easier and IMO more fun). So I'm asking for all the die rolls that might come up. Init is a 1d6 i use this to determine order of action not only for you but also for the woodsmen and the orcs. Darque explained very well and i really appreciate it. yes the to hit die is 1d20 and Dammage is dependent upon your weapon and is on all of your character sheets. I'm still fumbling around on this i know and i really appreciate everyones patience. i believe that this method will work and make things pretty fast when we all get on the same page. otherwise i feel like everybattle will take 6 months to play having to post with each action taken. any thought or suggestions would be welcomed. such as the best way to deal with saving throws in the middle of a round of battle?????? still trying to work that one out.

is everyones attack rolls and such. Darque did a good job covering everything with his rolls so if all could follow suit will allow me to run the 2nd rnd of battle and the post all the results.

your right on with the orcs still left and with all the commotion and your attention drawn to the pig men with pointy things poking at you your not able to tell what is happening to the front of the wagon train. all i really need now is exact actions everyones doing. Darque are you shooting more arrows or changing weapons. Hammer, reloading or dropping crossbow to get axe.that kind of thing for everyone stated in the game post if possible by group leader would be nice.

thanks Darque for clairfying the weapon dammage i didn't think to post for the weapons. if anybody has questions about the weapons please ask and i'll try to help. Your charaacter sheets have most of the info on them if you still have them. Based on what i've seen so far i've come to the following conclusions.
Of the 5 spear orcs 1 is dead and 2 are injured. the orc that sprinkles has on the ground is dead. tha one the muffin is attacking is only slightly injured. the spear orcs are approx 20 to 25 yards away and would roughly take Rat 2 or 3 rounds to sneak to although the wispy smoke and general chaos would significantly help his sneaking. The big guy is another 10 to 15 feet behind the spears.

The quick and nimble Rat's sling spins with amazing speed as the bullet suddenly flies out toward the Orcs. A loud 'PING' is heard as it hits the helmeted head of one of the spear throwers knocking him head over heals. The other 4 manage to launch thier spears as Trillans's bow string hums with the rapid release of 2 arrows. Both find their deadly mark as 2 more orcs crumple to the ground. The spears arc and plummet toward the group of wagons and the the other 6 orcs draw close enough for combat on the ground as the young woodsman in the rear let's loose an aroow from his bow. A loud 'THWACK' announces the release of the massive bolt form the command orcs giant crossbow as if in answer another 'THWACK' crackles through the air as a bolt is launched from the Dwarven crossbow. with lightning speed the missles try to find their marks. The massive bolt from the Orcish crossbow blurs across the battlefield and impales one of the woodsmen at the rea of the wagons killing him instantly and pinning him to the wagon itself suspended in a death's grin. one of the sword wielding orc takes the woodman's arrow in the leg and stumbles as Sprinkles bolts toward it to deliver the death blow. the dwarven bolt cracks as it bounces hard of the armor of the mace wielding orc . the orc rushes Hingutulli to return the favor mace accelerating in a crushing downward stroke only to stopped in mid swing as Muffin leaps into it to protect the dwarf. Spears come raining down striking one of the wagoneers knocking him down in the midst of a scream. another finds it's mark in a gap in Hingutulli's armor striking a glancing blow close to the hip. 1 sinks up into the wood a T'sal feet as she darts for cover and the last strikes one of it's fellow orcs in the back as Anvil's sword leaps for it throat killing it in a gory spray of blood. an axe wielding orc cleaves the skull of the young woodsman his bow no match for the cruel edge of biting steel. The last on swings wide trying to reach the Rat but alas the Rat is to quick and avoids the blow.
this conclude the first round. at this point hammer deduct 2 HP from the spear. everyone roll there damage dice per weapon so ican see which orcs are dead and which are maimed except anvil i know yours is dead. the other 2 wagoneers arecoming up on Anvils side of the back wagon to join the battle . you have sprinkles engaged wioth an orc on the ground, Muffin is also engaged with the mace wielding orc, 2 orcs are at the back of the wagon between Hammer and Nomad attempting to hit those in the wagon. and the remaining orcs are getting ready to begin a charge. The command orc is reloading and keeping his distance. consult in the Q&A and ask away if i've missed anything thanks, SD

Hammer you will only be able to fire the crossbow this round. the dog can attack, but your other actions will have to wait until the next round and that will depend on init. again and the orcs actions so hold those thoughts at the moment. Degotti are you saying that T'sal will not take any action this round and just focus on staying out of the way? please clarify. everyone go ahead and give me your to hit rolls and when i sort out who shot when and who hit who and who swings what i'll post and then we can sort out damage and deaths. This is a little awkward i know but i'm learning this as we go. It's hard to do this without everyone circled around with dice in hand and pizza boxes stacked to the roof. Also any one that wants to ask or state anything please do it by Thursday at lunch if possible so i can post the first rounds actions by both sides. Good luck!

O.K. guys here we go. those of you with missle fire are first. I will take your init. rolls and place them against the missle rolls of the orcs. This will happen at almost the same time on a case by case basis. next will come any magic you wish to cast and then we will get into the hand to hand stuff. ask away on your question concerning distance and placement. i didn't go into a lot of detail will handle most of the detail here on the Q & A and mostly post results on the main sight.

from a warhorn, a loud gutteral shout, the roar of many more harsh voices in response and then the sound of many feet pounding the ground announce the beegining of the assault. 12 Orcs pour out of the smoke running hard toward your group. They come with all manner of weapons and armor, howling and screaming some make ready to cast spears as a huge Orc, head and shoulder above the rest, shouts what can only be orders to the war party. He alone wears black plate mail and he is taking aim with a huge crossbow. in all 5 orcs are preparing to throw as six more charge directly towards the wagons. you can see swords, axes, and a mace being wielded. As the clash races toward you, another warhorn sounds in the distance on the road ahead.
i will need all members to roll init. please post your rolls on the Q&A and give me an idea of actions in this order missle, magic, melee, all other. also i will need Anvil to make a morale check(charisma)roll for the woodsman.

hey guy's please be patient with me the world has gone crazy down south. I'm in the fuel business here and just in the last 48hrs. gas has shot up to around $5.40 per gal. People are lined up at all the stations several have already run out of gas. My fuel terminals are shuting down, I'm running out of diesel fuel, My hairs turning white, I'm getting hundreds of phone calls from people mad, out, crying, all my drivers are upset. I tell you it's one hell of a day and the hurricane hasn't even hit yet. It may take me a little while to have the time to get to post so just bear with me and pray for my sanity. Thanks, SD

1. 2 woodsmen in rear with you 1 has bow 1 has woods axe

2. you recall at least 5 other men with the group when you first left the wagons

3. you could put up sword an shield and get bow out and arrow nocked but that would be all you had time for. once combat started you could fire and draw another arrow or fire and drop bow and start to draw sword. but that would depend on personal init.

The crack of the whips and the relentless barking and baying of the dogs fills the air as the nervous horses strain to get the wagons rolling. 3 Horseman start out in front followed by the dwarf with his dog fighting the urge to bolt into the woods to find some sport. The wagons slowly pull out and get underway a driver for each with the other 2 woodsman following close behind. T'sal stands in the back of 1 wagon with Trillian in another as Rat finishes playing with matches and jumps in the back of the last wagon. Anvil forms up behind the last wagon with the other dog staying close and the whole party starts down the logging trail toward the camp.
The smoke starts to thin as a small breeze helps lift it to where some vision is possible. wildlife is seen in abundance moving away from the threat of fire. Deer bolt wild-eyed, fox run low to the ground, all many of animals dart out of the underbrush there quick movements and noises keeping everyones nerves on edge. 15 minutes pass and good time is being made when the call comes from a horseman in front.
"Halt!! I see something in the road ahead!" At a slow walk he leads his horse forward. tense seconds go by................"Bodies!! 2 or 3 they look human!!" the group surges foward to investigate but, out in the smoke filled distance the blair of a crude warhorn sounds!
Anvil Sees heat signatures coming from behind initial count 8 to 10 figures.

Anvil please roll for your group initiative

do any of you have the riding prof.? if not the wagons would be the only way unless you doubled with proficent riders. the only thing that would really slow the wagons are the large quantity of supplies that are piled up into them, if you ditch them it would make them faster and also allow for more riders per wagon. then again nothings going to be real fast due to the smoke obscuring your view everything will have to go at ameasured pace to keep to the logging trail and to stay together.

The group quickly surrounds the wagons and prepares for the unknown hoping for a break in the smoke as the afternoon is quickly fading and the sun begining to set. It's not long until the loud sound of horses hard at the gallop can be heard approaching from the left branch of the road. A shout comes out "Hail the wagons!!! We have returned from the bridge!!"
One of the wagoneers replies "Hail the riders!! Come forward!"
everyone tenses as the horses approach until faces can be made out of the returning woodsman.
"It's as Carus feared." exclaimed the leader. a grizzled looking vet of war and wood. "The Bridge is gone. It' and the surrounding woods are afire. Orcs! Lot's of them! There all over the place. Some where trying to follow us but we lost them in the smoke but, hell if they can follow a road they'll be here soon. better get the wagons out of here!! Where the Hell is Carus!! They've had to attack the camp."
The wagoneer's look to Anvil wondering what to do?
