If Miliani succeeds on her expelling of Amon then she will bind to Aym and use her Ruinous Attack on the door hings. Assuming that they are on the outside of the door being a prison door. This attack allows her to deal double damage to objects.

Can't wait for binder level 10. This attack will then get treated as adamantine for over coming damage reduction.

As Miliani pounded on the door she grew frustrated that she could make no progress. Nikulas even tried to help from the inside but to no avail. Nothing that she had learned in her years of study had taught her how to detect magic to find out if the door was enchanted in some way. This was just another thing to taunt her and her inability to rise to the level of skill that was always expected of her.

"Perhaps," Nikulas says, "if you could somehow pick the lock."

As he suggested another alternative Miliani stepped back and leaned against the far wall exhaling a sigh of frustration. She didn't know anything about picking a lock. Think, does anyone know anything about picking locks. As she paused there Katsumi started chipping away at the rock on the wall looking for weaknesses.

"Let me check if any of the dead guards has a set of keys." Then Aurora began to walk off.

"Be careful." Miliani calls after Aurora as she moves away from where the other two remained, stumped, in front of the prison door. Miliani began to roll through the inventory in her mind. Who would be best to help in a situation like this.......
"That's it.. Aym!" She knew that Amon would be of no further use in this situation but Aym would give her a much better chance at smashing the door hinges with her amazing strength. Miliani hoped that her new companions would not hold it against her as she took a few steps away from the door Katsumi was working on. She pulls out a piece of chalk and repeats the summoning for Amon that she had just completed only moments before.

((OOC To expel the vestige she must summon and succeed another binding check. Then, instead of binding, Miliani will be expelling Amon. If she succeeds in expelling Amon then her horns vanish, and she will pull out her binders kit and utilize the bonuses from it in summoning Aym in order to help balance out the -10 to her bind check for force expelling the first vestige. The DC is only 15 for Aym and if she fails then she will have a star shaped brand on her forehead as the manifest sign. If everything works then she will have lost 2 HP from using her binding kit twice.Aym Binding DC 15 pg 24))

As the song ended, and the crowd cheered with up lifted spirits, the bashful musician seemed to have had her fill of attention for the evening. Satya was sad to see her pick up to leave but as her eyes traveled back across the room her disappointment melted away as her eyes locked on the guard that she had noticed watching her intently through the dance. He now had two drinks in his hand and was walking over to greet her. Satya's heart was racing from so many things happening all at once that she began to feel light headed.

Cheffron approached Satya and handed her a glass of wine and said, "You look as though you could use it. You dance wonderfully. Can you dance just as well with a partner? I'm Cheffron Goodlynn."

"Thank you." Satya takes the glass proffered her, and puts it lightly to her mouth taking only the smallest sip. She smiles as she lets her tongue glide ever so slightly across her lips. "We will have to see, for I have never had the great pleasure of dancing with a partner before."

"May I have this dance, Mi'lady?"

Satya took one more small sip and set the glass down on the table. Then taking his drink as well and setting it next to her own, she linked arms with Cheffron and led him to the open space where people where still mingling and waiting for more lively music. As he pulled her close to him ready to catch her up in a reel she whispered in his ear, "I am Satya."

They spoke very little as they danced the night away. Their glasses sat neglected on the table for some time as they where caught up with the intoxication of each other. When the music slowed down they did not stop. The physical connection between them never breaking but for the briefest of moments.

"Merc and Richard answer directly to me. If you can convince them to aid you without compromising their identities in this mission, then by all means."

Aaron is slowly losing his temper as he answers the other question. "As for horses, I have told you already they will be waiting for you with the cart a mile outside of town. The street rats where not a known factor when I dispatched my men earlier today. I do not like having to repeat myself, so consider my offer of aid expired. You will need to leave town through the Southeast gate and follow the road that leads towards the foothills. There is a watering hole at the first outcrop of trees with two men and four horses waiting for you till sundown. If you do not arrive before that time they have been instructed to return to their barracks." Aaron then walks to the door and steps outside. His head reappears in the doorway and in parting says, "The sun is past its zenith so I suggest you hurry." Then he disappears from the doorway mumbling curses under his breath.

The three kidnappers are left alone in the storage room surrounded mostly by broken tackle and practice gear. Piles of neglected materials litter the floor including a large stack of grain sacks partly molded along the wall. The burlap sacks still hold true even though the contents smell foul.

I too am wondering what I detected as far as thoughts go. I realize now I didn't exactly post that OOC on the post when I originally cast it. I did correct that two posts later.

Do you want us to always be posting OOC at the bottom of our posts what spells we are casting? I haven't gotten this far into posting game mechanics before and I feel a little lost on just how to post that info to make it easy on you.

As Satya wondered through the lounge area she stopped at the bar and ordered a stiff drink. Her feet tapping to the piano music, were ready to carry her away. But she waited and took her time finishing her drink. As its warmth filled her belly she grinned and slowly took in all the life around her.

As the music shifted and became more lively people got up and began to dance. Satya set down her empty glass and wasted no time joining in with the merriment. She wove in and about with all the other people dancing, then threw her head back and let fly laughter she had not released in many years. She whistled and clapped for the musician and other dancers as they took turns around the room and for a small moment she felt like she had come home. The setting was far different but at that moment in the room the spirit was the same. People were setting their cares aside, because once we left this room many were off to battle, war, and an uncertain future. All we had was this moment, right now. As these fleeting thoughts drifted through Satya's mind her eyes began to scan the crowd looking for someone.

Not sure if she would find what she was looking for she continues to dance and intermittently scan the sea of faces. Trying not to be too hopeful but deep down wishing the night would not end alone.

(OOC: As Satya is dancing around and mingling she is looking for a man that does not seem to be attached to a woman already. She is mostly interested in finding a warrior that would understand her need for a night of comfort before heading out to battle. No strings attached. He doesn't have to be super attractive. These people all look exotic to her so many are attractive to her in unique and subtle ways that their own culture has come to take for granted.))

((OOC Miliani was casting Clairvoyance in the last post once she had set eyes on the man.))

The young Fay'ri stares intently through the door at the man as he speaks. Hoping to hear what thoughts lay just below the surface. Wondering if he would make a good ally or simply kill them once he had the chance.

I have no problem with freeing you, let me see what I can do to get you out of there Miliani heard the human say.

She turned to look at Katsumi briefly and whispered, "Wait just a moment. Aurora can sense if he will be a threat or a help to us. The last thing we need is to accidentally release something that will end our freedom before it has truly begun."

Miliani then goes back to watching him intently hoping to sense what intentions lurk deep within his mind.

After Satya made her last purchase of the night and the shops where all but closed she figured that getting to her room to change clothes would be the next best thing to do. As she made her way to the Nightshade Inn she realized that should would not have to look far. Satya entered the lively tavern and found the Innkeeper."Hello sir, I am under the employ of Governor Bailash and he told me that there was a room reserved for me for the night."

The man looked her over once and then smiled,"Of course, please right this way." The Innkeeper led Satya up the stairs to the top floor. There where several large doors and the man stopped in front of one. "Will you be needing anything for the night?" the inn keeper asked as he handed Satya her room key.

"A wash basin with some warm water would be excellent." Satya replied as she took the key from him and opened the door to her room. It was very nice. A comfortable bed and a large window on the far wall took up one side of the room. A table, chair, and a wardrobe where along the other. There was a nice simple colorful rug that lined the floor so that when stepping out of bed at night your feet didn't land on the cold hardwood floor.

"Very well, I shall send someone up with it at once," the innkeeper stated then hurried off down the stairs to care for the rest of his establishment.

Satya walked around the room once, then satisfied with her accommodations set out her new dress on the bed and removed her armor and traveling gear. She had stripped down to just her long tunic when there was a knock at the door. She opened it slowly to see a young boy standing there with a large kettle of steaming hot water and clean towels hung over his arm. "You called for me miss?"

"Oh yes, by all means come," As she stepped away from the door to let the serving boy enter. He set the large kettle on the ground and took a wash basin that had been stored on top of the wardrobe and set it on the table. He then poured the hot water in it and laid the clean towels over the back of the chair.

"Will that be all miss?" the boy asked hopefully, as he stood in the middle of the room.

"Yes, thank you," Satya answered. The boy hesitated there in the middle of the room just long enough for her to realize her small indiscretion. "Wait I did forget something." She walks over to her bag and pulls out 2 silver coins for the boy's services, and puts it in the palm of his hand. "Thank you."

The boy grinned, and without another word scurried out of the room. Satya closed the door behind him, then stripped off the last of her clothes and stood by the table and scrubbed herself down till her skin was raw and red from it. Once she was satisfied she ran her fingers through her hair and twisted it up into a loose knot at the nape of her neck and used the leather strap from her turban to keep her hair up. Satya then slipped into her dress and sandals, grabbed a hand full of coins, and headed down to the tavern for some drinks and dancing.

Subject: Night before battle

...As you have accepted the invitation you found, you are now in my employ and I take care of my own. Now, take these coins and have a good time on me. It may very well be the last night of good times and high humor that you have for a while, for you are as the daring warrior the night before war. That house and quite possibly its origin must be neutralized if this realm is to survive. From what everyone is telling me, it sounds like an invasion is eminent. Keep in mind that I sent out five invitations. Before that I set up five rooms for those I called. Spend a safe night at the Nightshade Inn as a thank you for answering that call. Good night, Satya."

"Thank you," Satya said a little surprised at the governor's generosity. As she took the bag from him and placed it in her pack she bowed her head as a sign of respect,"and good night," then she headed out into the night air. Satya knew what it was he spoke of. Many times as a child she saw the wild feasting of her people the night before a raid. She had never seen anything quite like it again since she had left her home. She had learned through the years that every culture was very different. Women in this part of the world were more often seen in a role at home, and she had seldom encountered female adventurers like Lacy and Seluumiel. She was intrigued by them both and sensed that they each had, like her, some great past that had pushed them out into the world.

Tonight I shall try to remember what it means to be one of the Laasya tribe, she determined in her heart. First on that list was to replace the worn clothes of her journeying. As she stopped for a moment on the front steps of the house she asked the man that opened the door for her where she may find some nice woman's clothing. He pointed her in the direction of the merchant district and informed her that she would need to hurry for many shop owners would soon be closed for the night. Satya set off at a fast gait and quickly found a store window displaying a variety of woman's clothing.

As she walked in she was amazed at all the variety and color decorating the shop. The shop keeper stepped out and greeted her heartily. It had been a very long time since she last spent a night in a town and in a bed. She had nearly forgotten what it felt like to be scrubbed clean with warm water as well, and wearing something as free and unconstrained as a dress. The woman that owned the store asked many questions about Satya's origins for she had never seen a woman with her dark complexion and features before. She was sweet and seemed eager to learn more about the world that she had come from. As she asked questions of Satya she would pull out different dresses to see if they were to her liking. Each one unique in style and coloring and made of fabrics that she hadn't even heard of, but none where what she was looking for. Finally the shop owner pulled out a dress that was a deep crimson with black embroidered trim around the low cut neck. The back had an even deeper scoop than the front and there were no sleeves to the dress. Satya's eyes lit up at the strangely styled dress and smiled. "Its beautiful she whispered." The shop owner, excited that she finally had found something to the young woman's liking, offered to let her try it on in the back room.

Satya slipped into the dress and was amazed at how soft and light it felt on her. The dress was fine linen, and more exquisite than anything she had ever owned. Well, I may only ever get to wear it for one night but it will be a night to remember, she thought. The tribal markings that traced her shoulder blades and down her arms where laid bare in the sleeveless sun dress, and when the shop owner saw her she fell silent and her eyes grew wide. Here was a truly unique woman that she would carry the markings of a barbarian and yet still could have a feminine air about her.

"You will definitely turn some heads in that dress miss," the shop owner finally managed to say after getting over the initial shock of Satya's tattooed body.

"I do not know about that," Satya said doubtfully,"but I intend to honor my people by celebrating in their ways the best that I can this evening. Thank you for assisting me in finding a dress. I do hope that I have not been too much trouble." She changed back into her traveling clothes, paid for her dress then headed out to see what else she might find before the stores all closed up.

Satya looked forward to finding some live music and dancing for the night. She wasn't sure what she would find but she made a point of keeping her eyes and ears open as she finished her last bits of shopping.

((OOC Satya will use gather information and Listen interchangeably as she walks about the merchant district hoping for some wholehearted fun that she will have a chance to get lost in for the evening.))

"I say we go about our separate ways to find information, then meet tonight when the cock crows 1. Then we shall have a simple idea about how to go, then we shall go. Any objections?" Sornek turns on his heel and slips out of the room.

But finds that the way is blocked by two very large masked guards. "You must be escorted from this place by the commander so that no other guards see that you have been here in conference," Says the man to the left of the door. The guard's voice had a chilling echo resonating deep within it. Looking closer at the guard Sornek realizes that their eyes are pinpoints of orange light peering out from behind their masks.

"I've been to the fortress Korban now calls home, and it is no short distance from here....

..."Commander," he used Aaron's formal title to avoid insulting the warrior by assuming a too-familiar air, "Are you aware of any magical defenses Korban might have utilized to protect his seized home? Does he have access to any powerful clerics that might discover our ruse in replacing the real children with street urchins?"

Aaron smiles at the dark man and responds. "Good question spy. Our sources tell us nothing has changed from when last you where within the Mingan family walls. Korbin has a cleric but she does not live in the house and is more like an on-call doctor then anything else. He is far too old-fashion and narrow minded, relying on brute force alone to protect his home." The word home was spat more then said as Aaron's distaste for the man seemed to rival Banyan's.

"I would only beware the smart guard that took the time to spend his own wages on magic deflection enchantments on their armor or weapons. But I doubt that Korbin pays his city guard enough in a life time to afford that kind of luxury. Not to mention most all the smart ones left when Banyan did. I can provide you with horses even a cart if you like that can help with returning the brats to the fortress here. I happen to have a small unassuming little thing just right for the task. I had it enchanted to leave no tracks, and I have found it very useful. If the three of you feel you need nothing more from me then I will appoint two of my men to meet you a mile outside of town with the cart and horses. They will await your return and aid you in getting back within the city walls unnoticed just in case Korbin has any spies set here in our midst."

Aaron walks over to the door and motioned to the guards to stand down. They do with formality, and Aaron leads the three men from the room and down a side tunnel that brings them up in a cellar of another building within the city. It is a store room for one of the lesser used barracks and there is no one in the building when they emerge from the cellar door.

As Seluumiel and Satya were the only two adventurers left in the dinning room Satya felt that maybe the time had come to excuse herself. She heard Bailash speak of an inn to sleep at for the night and it made her drowsy just at the mention of it. The fullness of her belly did not help matters either. Satya rose and took a moment to gather her things as Seluumiel spoke with the governor about a place under the stars.

When Satya was sure that she would not be interrupting she asked "Sir, if you please I am not familiar with this town and would also like a safe place to rest for the night. I think I should like to stay at the same inn as the others. If you could point me in the right direction I think I can find my way just fine. I was not included in the invitation originally and therefor do not expect anything in return for what we are about to do. I just do not feel safe sleeping in the wilds so close to so great a danger at this time. Magic at the very best makes me uneasy for I was raised to hate and fear it. I have learned that not all forms are evil or harmful, but just the same I do not like feeling defenseless. It is not something that I have much experience with."

"Calling on a bitter deity is not a thing to be done lightly. Some bindings can break and that leaves the bound one a chance to attack its binder."

Miliani took another look at the tall woman not knowing just how to respond to her comment. In all her forty years she had never experienced such a thing. Her books never even spoke of it. She was aware that on a bad day she could be influenced by Amon's foul temper, but that happened less and less these days.

"I am touched at your concern for my well being. I trust that I am in good hands. Should such a thing occur I believe that you will do the right thing."

Miliani felt that maybe she was being just a little mellow dramatic, but she thought it would be more fun to let them just believe what they will about her skills. Getting out of this place was number one on her list, and stopping to explain all the intricacies of a rare form of spell casting seemed rather exhausting to her. Miliani simply made up her mind to let her actions speak for themselves, and if they couldn't handle it she would simply have to find someone else to help find a way of escape from this dreadful place or, parish the thought, simply take off on her own.

"What was that thing?" Katsumi asked quietly once it had disappeared.

Miliani realized that maybe she shouldn't have been so hasty in giving her new companions a first hand experience with her skill. If her people were repulsed by it, then most likely others would also find it difficult to wrap their minds around as well. As she finished cleaning and putting away her tools Miliani answered Katsumi's question.

"That was Amon. He is a vestige. Once he was a deity of light and law, but he died of neglect a millennia ago. It is believed that he lost his followers to other more attentive deities. His will was strong enough to resist eternal sleep on the Astral Plane, and so the part of him that still exists is what you just saw. He has been changed by living outside of reality. As you see he is bitter and not all that pleasant to look at. But I suppose if you spent a millennium trapped outside of reality with no connection to the world, you might be pretty bitter too."

"Binders like me have the power to bring forth the vestiges and make use of their abilities for they do not have the power to do so alone, and they crave that connection to reality. Much like us prisoners here I suppose. And just in case you are worried I may end up being connected to someone that deserves to be in that prison, please know I am picky about who I am willing to work with." She paused to think a moment then smiled to the other two women and began to move on again when...

"Is somebody out there?" a deep, male voice asks from one of the cells in the hallway. "Let me out, and you will not regret it." Other voices from the other cells begin speaking as well, all asking to be released.

Katsumi responds, "Let us go see what we can do for those still locked in their cells. We should be wary though."

Miliani agrees with Katsumi, and with a nod of her head goes quietly to the door that the male voice came from. She peered through the small window to try and get a visual on the being inside. Once she had him in sight she attempted to cast clairvoyance on him to see if she can get a better idea what lays beyond the door.

Topic: Dungeon of the Unhallow Q&A
Subject: Not a Pentagram

Just so everyone is clear, a binder is not demonic in nature. The symbols that she draws are different for each vestige she summons. They most resemble a cross of Norse tribal art and possibly Egyptian in nature.

The summoning is definitely a unique sight however and I can understand ones trepidation when encountering it. If it were a symbol as widely know as a pentagram I will be sure to specify it in my post in the future.
