Topic: In a WORLD...
Subject: Idea!

Me, I'm working on a fantasy setting that might use the FactionRPG rules (check 'em out! It's kinda nifty) or a more dieselpunk/pulp/Crimson Skies inspired setting. The snag I run into with the pulp game is that I want to merge flying and ground-based adventuring into one game, and Savage Worlds does that pretty well, but the rules I end up with end up looking like the bastard child of...something...

edit: Also working on an Eberron-style setting for D&D, but more steampunkish.

Subject: Hammer Ulric

"Adventure? Is this what it meant to be on an adventure?" he thought to himself as he half-limped into the village. He'd been beaten worse than that at the hands of the weapons master at the Abbey, but still, the cuts were fresh and the pain in his right leg was nagging. He knew there would always be people who didn't accept him because of his race, but it didn't make the beatings and thievery any easier. At least they hadn't gotten away with Sir Ulric's daggers, which he'd carefully stowed in a pocket in his now-soiled cloak.

He saw the inn from a distance and thought it might be a good place to rest up from the beating he took and have a pint. He didn't know, however, how the local ale was, as he was accustomed to only having the ale brewed by the paladins of Beltan. Their ale was dark and strong, and it took him the longest time to get used to it. Pulling his cloak around him to disguise his appearance, not wanting to upset a local shopkeep or anything, he made his way into the Trotting Horse.

The tavern was small, but homey, in its own way. There were few patrons, and Hammer was able to seat himself at a table in a dark corner. He was a warrior at heart, but knew he couldn't face a horde of misguided guards with just his wits and daggers. He thought darkly to himself that the day would come when they finally recognized the name Hammer Ulric, the day when he would finally be able to take the rites of knighthood, as his adopted father had.

Be that as it may, a curvaceous tavern girl came up to him, tossing her auburn hair and asked what he would like to drink.
"
"Ale, please, the house special," he said in his raspy voice.

The girl looked at him strangely, then smiled and said, "One Horseman's Ale, coming right up!"

The hood bounced as he nodded his acknowlegement and placed a coin on the table in payment. He carefully adjusted the hood of his cloak, wary not to reveal his scaly, clawed hands. The last thing he was in the mood for was another beating. At least a good pint would clear his head, warm him up, and dull his wounds, at least for the time.

Hammer had begun to smoke the table's pipe as the girl brought him his ale in a wooden flagon. He smoked and drank in quiet, his brooding mood slowly opening up to curiousity and peace as he began to people-watch, peering out from beneath the hood with bright green eyes that matched his scales, in the tavern.

Found that Elder Scrolls d20 system. It's called Tamriel d20 and it is here

Edit: There's also one that runs using the True20 system that I'm taking a look at. That one's called True20-Tamriel

I think they wasted too much time on the graphics for oblivion, imo.

That's the great thing about RPing though for me. Telling stories! I'm a writer at heart.

I'll have to give paranoia a look. The Exodus RPG looks pretty fun too, it's what became of the Fallout d20, as it turns out.

And I'd be interested in a Final Fantasy game. I found a couple different systems for it, but never played. One's called Zodiac, I know that much.

Granted! When you post to the site, however, your phone transforms into a genie who takes your wish back and wipes the post from the site before transforming back into a cell phone.

I was thinking about this game that I started to pick up years ago, couldn't think of the name of it, and it turns out it was Dragon Dice. Did anybody actually play that? I'm considering picking up a starter one of these days if I can find out whether it's worth it or not.

I'm kicking around the idea of working up a steampunk rpg system. The idea is that it's traditional steampunk (gears, cogs, zeppelins, death rays, etc.) meets fantasy (think the world of warcraft or victoriana universes). I was wondering if, once I got some work done on it, if anyone would be interested in playtesting? I could either send you the rules I work up or we could play by post on here. Just curious if anyone's actually IN to that kind of thing

Edit: What I may do is start with a modified D&D or FUDGE setting and go from there. I'm going to start with a campaign setting and go from there.

I do love the career system in WFRP. I'd call it non-standard, just because of that.

And by non-standard, I mean besides D&D, Star Wars/Trek, that kinda thing.

I like Spirit of the Century, Victoriana, Deadlands, and Castle Falkenstein, myself. My steampunk addiction is showing. Oopsie.

Subject: Tomb - 4e Q&A

Copied from the recruitment thread. Thought it would be better suited here

FINALLY!
Ok, so I finally got around to getting some basic info about the game out.

All players begin at lvl 1. Max starting stat is 85, but feel free to use less. No more than 2 18's though, to keep things balanced.

3. We'll be using any 4e stuff you can find, just run anything iffy past me first.

Race restrictions: Only humans, halflings, elves, dwarves, and half-elves.

Class restrictions: Any class you want from 4e, and if you want something from 3.5e, I'll get it converted for ya.

The starting point is the Red Dragon Inn (Naturally) in the small village of Herbsburg, about 30 miles from the capital city of Stormreach. This world we're in is set in the country of Aleria, surrounded on one border by ocean, one border by mountains, and the other two open to neighboring countries Fierden and Jakaar. More will be revealed about this later.

I'll get to determining starting weath/equipment when I get some people signed up for the quest.

Here's a little background.

500 years ago, the kingdom of Aleria fell under siege by an evil necromancer named Huron Lycast. The battled raged on for 10 long years, with outlying villages becoming deserted or havens for the mage's undead army.

In a cold December, Huron's army was at the gates of Stormreach, and all seemed lost. Suddenly a hero, who's name has been lost to history, ran to the top of the highest spire of Stormreach and began chanting a long-forgotten incantation against the howling winds and the clamor of battle below. When the last syllable was spoken and the last gesture made, a powerful roar came from within Stormreach's deepest, darkest place, a roar so horrible it stopped even the undead mid-stride. The ground began to quake, and ripped apart. A terrible dragon flew forth from the ground, spurting flame, with every wing beat the crash of thunder. It's silvery scales shone even in the starlight of that dark night, and The undead were consumed by the power of that dragon in mere hours.

Hearing of this grave defeat, Huron made a dark pact with a demon from the Fey. The possibility of victory in exchange for his very soul. Leading a last blitz against Stormreach, he was confronted at the gates by the same hero with an army of his own. The battled raged for two days until the hero and Huron were the last men standing on the field. Their battle was waged for two long hours until finally, Huron struck a mighty blow against the hero, mortally wounding him. As he was going to make the strike that would end the hero's life, the hero whispered words of magic once again. The dragon flew forth and consumed both men in a torrent of magical flame. Only a darkened patch of earth was left.

In time, the dark patch of earth sprouted wildflowers, even long after the dragon's disappearance from Stormreach, freed from its heroic master. Stormreach grew strong again, and peace was known once again throughout the land.

Recently though, there have been whispers of graves opening and the dead walking again. The cemeteries have been closed off by the most powerful magical barriers, wrought by the most powerful mages in all of the kingdom, The Seven Councillors.

There is talk even among them of Huron's return, but they haven't any idea how this could be possible. Their ancestors had seen and written about his death in many ancient tomes. Whether it is Huron or not, the evil that is beginning to rise again in Aleria must be stopped. That's why Alestir Tuvalt, the head of the Councillors, has called forth for adventurers, ready to protect their country and reap whatever rewards they will find. The general feeling among the Councillors is that the evil is spreading from an ancient tomb, The Tomb of the Unnamed Hero, a shrine built to honor the hero who sacrificed himself for Aleria. Why the evil seems to be spreading from there, no one knows, but it must be found out, and stopped before all of Aleria is consumed by the encroaching powers of darkness...

----

I think this would make a great campaign, but even a one-shot through the Tomb of the Unnamed Hero would be really fun, I think.

As far as postings go, this would be a once-a-week game, and once players are found, we'll decide on the best day for everyone and get the show on the road!
