Subject: Long Time and the Winds of Change

Wow, lots of changes here at the Inn since the last time I haunted these rooms.

Many new faces, I see. I'm glad to see that Star Wars is still around.

What's this? Web comics? That's new.

I even see that the elusive Yanamari visited the site at least. Whoa.

Some of the main players are still around. Big Al, Grugg, Vilyamar, others.

Sometimes it's good to come around and check things after a long hiatus!

November, 2002. Long ago I joined, it was. I was working as an office manager for Sierra Sciences in Nevada. Couldn't wait for the premier of LOTR: TTT to come out. Bromern Sal and I saw a thing on WB - a sneak preview.

Yanamari was here, Vandaia. We lit up the chat room discussing what Tolkien characters we were most like.

No! No! No more RPGs. No!

With all the superhero nuts running aroound here (Watchmen, Batman, Batzilla, The Incredible Bulk, Fartman, etc.) you'd think there'd be a Champions RPG campaign rolling around.

Subject: The Other Characters

This is a general thread to give the other three characters a little information about where they are and what's happening. There could be some important details here, so be sure to take note of them:

Mandatt Om t'Opli. He has been given the prisoner designation S-740. At the moment, he is in his cell, 2888871. The cell is approximately 10 meters square and possesses little more than a hard bunk, wall lighting, and a refresher. The entrance is barred by a shimmering red-orange force field. There is only one other feature here: a vent guarded by a titanium grate. Mandatt knows that he does not possess the strength to pry open the grate; it is beyond physical removal.

He is not scheduled for anything, so he appears to have time on is side to mull things over.

Joran Camdu. He has been given the prisoner designation E-396. At the moment, he is in his cell, 2003400. The cell is approximately 10 meters square and possesses little more than a hard bunk, wall lighting, and a refresher. The entrance is barred by a shimmering red-orange force field. There is only one other feature here: a vent guarded by a titanium grate. Joran knows that he does not possess the strength to pry open the grate; it is beyond physical removal.

He is scheduled for interrogation in 1 standard hour.

Koth Trey'lis. The Bothan's predicament has been detailed the game thread. He is, at the moment, helpless to make a move, unless he disregards death and excruciating pain and challenges his force cage.

3PO Droid. We are waiting for YeOlde to give us his name and some background info. Until then, he is in Block Maintenance, which is the central environmental control area for the entire Block. He will be granted a detailed introductory post in the game thread.

He is scheduled to be memory-wiped shortly (whenever the Block Engineers get around to it).

The Twi'lek Mercenary. We are just waiting for his name. He is currently in his cell, 2292031. The cell is approximately 10 meters square and possesses little more than a hard bunk, wall lighting, and a refresher. The entrance is barred by a shimmering red-orange force field. There is only one other feature here: a vent guarded by a titanium grate. (*) knows that he does not possess the strength to pry open the grate; it is beyond physical removal.

He is scheduled for interrogation in 1 standard hour. However, this is most likely his ... termination. Hey - some prisoners aren't that useful to the Imperial High Command!

First introductory post: The Bothan's Predicament

“I find him rather curious,” Senior Interrogations Officer Darlen Trorr of the Imperial Securities Division on Tyranno 33D said, rubbing the sparse goatee on his chin. He was, at the moment, studying the newly-incarcerated Bothan. Trorr gave his subordinate, Officer Romm Goloni, a look. “What did High Command say about him?”

Goloni, whose face looked like it had been thrown into a vibro-food processor replied, “He was caught smuggling on Korriban some months ago. From what I understand, he was to do some sensitive work to reduce his sentence, but, I suppose High command decided it was best to keep him here.”

“Korriban? Who goes to Korriban anymore? It’s a lifeless hulk.”

“True, but home to smugglers. It has strategic importunities being close to Rhen Var and Telos.”

Officer Trorr reached over for the central console and pushed several buttons; the force cage went from a light yellow to a shimmering red-orange. “What is this prisoner’s designation?”

Golini checked his datapad. “K-184. His name is Koth Trey’lis.”

Trorr pushed the figures into the console and stood back, crossing his arms, the light from the overhead making him appear diabolical. “I wish to conduct a thorough test on this cage. I trust that it causes … severe discomfort if prompted to do so?”

“Of course, sir. It’s one of Merr-Sonn’s better force cages.” Goloni watched as the sadistic interrogations officer reached over for the controls regulating the cage’s environment.

“Tell me, is there any reason why we must interrogate this one?”

“The Bothan?” Goloni shrugged. “He may have some information about other smuggling operations in the Corporate Sector, but, the only reason why we have him here is because we are out of detention cells to keep him.”

Grinning, Trorr reached over for the inducements, but a beep intoned from his personal comlink. Irritated at being interrupted, Trorr asked the deck officer on the other end what the trouble was. “Fine,” Trorr said, “I’ll make it my priority.”

“Sir?”

Trorr gave his subordinate a hard look. “It appears that they want me to look in on that woman we found drifting in the escape tube near Alderaan.” He waved at the captured Bothan casually. “We’ll keep him here for the time being, and have our fun later. I am really curious to see how much pain a Bothan can endure before he dies. Don’t worry, there’s no way for him to get out of here. The force cage can only be shut off remotely and the only way out of the room is through the titanium-grate of the vent shaft. If he has the strength to get passed that, I don’t think I would want to stand in his way.”

The two men chuckled and left the room.

OOC: Koth Trey’lis has been in tight jams before, but even though he’s alone for the moment, he knows he can’t get passed the force cage’s security by himself.

Here will be a general discussion and information board for the Star Wars adventure, Escape from Tyranno 33D.

At the moment, the game is filled. There are no positions left to hand out. Gaming will commence shortly, as soon as the introductory posts are made up by yours truly.

It is important to note that two of the characters, the droid and the Bothan spy, are integral to the beginning. Read my introductory posts for these two characters thoroughly, and take note that added information will be given to thier players.

Everyone, welcome onboard. I should have the posts up and the general information ready - so may the Force Be With You!

Subject: Long Time Whimsy

When I first started back in Nov 2002, I was known as Greysorcerer and I chose one avatar here that looked like Tim from Monty Python's Holy Grail, and then I became sick of that one, but it was apt considering it was grayish in color.

I had a brief avatar as a female because of a character I used in playing in one of Brom's campaigns (before he stoned her).

Then I used a Gandalf the Grey avatar since I was still Greysorcerer.

Then, of course, we had the Great Crash (of which ended my years of having over 1000+ posts. Everybody during that time called me Greygrey, and I began a star wars campaign called Legacy of the Dark Jedi. I used the current Jedi avatar you see now.

Subject: Bruce Campbell

I met Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Brisco County, etc.) at a book signing and yakked with him a little. I bought his book, Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way and had him sign that and my Army of Darkness DVD. Very funny fellow in real life.

ME (walking up and shaking his hand): Hello Lord Bolar!

BC: Naw, that's the tall one.

Anyhow, we talked some length about his movies and his adventures. He will tell you to never call him Ash, but it's funny that everyone seems to do it.

I just finished reading his book, and found it hilarious. It's not an autobiography like his first book If Chins Could Kill, but a fictional account about how it would be if he were slated for a pivotal role in an "A" list movie. He pulls out all stops and, in his own words, becomes a "Chino County Prison Bitch" at the end.

Well recommended! Many references to his real stuff. If you haven't got it, get it!

Subject: Very Good

IJ4 was dashing and fun. I missed Indy something terrible. Of course he's gett'n on a little in this one, he still proves he can crack the whip!

This one will rank as the second best, as a runner-up to Raiders, of course. IJ4 has some returning faces and a family-orientation with it.

What I thought was great:

1. Indy jumping around just as tough as always.
2. The young guy and his greaser-style.
3. The BIG ants.
4. Marion Ravenwood.

What I didn't like:

1. Cate Blanchett. (sorry - I'm a big Cate fan, I just didn't like her character)
2. Some plot over-explaining in some instances, and vagueness in others.
3. John Hurt and his wacko over-the-top character.

Okay - now - go out and see it!

Subject: Other People's Trash

I would not trust to buy a second-hand computer at a yard sale; many could have pre-existing worms, trojans, viruses, etc., and could easily have registry problems and other troubles. If you ever buy a used computer, you may want to get it at a local SB (System Builder) computer store nearby. They can rebuild and clean a used computer with great expertise.

If you want to remain on the cheap with this thing, it may only be the keyboard itself as the problem. If you have any others in the house, mix and match them. Other than that, there may not be any clear way to fix this trouble other than going down and buying a new keyboard (or a new computer).

Things have been busy down at the ol' job and I haven't been around much lately. When it comes to the book my agent is trying to peddle, I had to put together close to $500 USD in getting graphic design and printing done for a "mock book cover".

Anyhow, I haven't been reading much lately. I did peruse Elizabeth Costello by JM Coatzee. He's a nobel-winning author. Blah. I've found those high-faloot'n Pulitzer-, Nobel- and Booker winning authors generally write alot of hot wind drivvel.

I still haven't finished McEwen's Atonement, and have been slowly progressing through it. Not because of the narrative, but since I'm acquainted with the story through the movies, I know what's happening and what's going to happen next. The book parallels the movie (and vice versa) pretty closely, unfortunately. This is because there's little variation between the media.

I have re-purchased Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves and have been studying it deeply. I have a fondness for metafiction - surreal, self-aware fiction - and am fashioning a book sort of like his. If you like a book that's gimmicky and crazy and altogether weird, read this book! ... Or try to, at least. It's not an easy read, but it is different.

Okay - back on the horse.
