Topic: Star Trek: the Edge of Duty Q&A
Subject: New Post

Fired a new post up, mostly between Reid and Mathias.

Topic: Star Trek: the Edge of Duty
Subject: Something suspicious is afoot.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine - CTO's Office - 1250

Mathias exited the turbolift, walking briskly, his mind racing, he hadn't entered damage control mode yet, but someone had gone behind his back and he needed to find out who it was. He turned right down an adjoining corridor to see Lt. Reid standing in front of his office door, waiting. A thought crossed his mind It could be him , Mathias immediately buried the thought, Forget it, he's not that kind of officer, loyal to fault even, assuming I've read him right that is .

"Good afternoon Mister Reid" gesturing toward his now open office door.

(OCC: Assuming Lt. Reid enters ahead of Mathias)

Mathias followed the Lieutenant into the office, the doors swishing faintly behind him as they closed and made for his desk, as he walked he motioned to the other seat, opposite his, on the other side of the desk, "Have a seat, Lieutenant."

(OCC: Assuming Reid sits.)

"Mister Reid we have a problem, someone has gone behind the Captain's back and mine in the rest of Lt. Tesenblen, and now the Captain, understandably, wants answers, and so do I. I want to know who authorized starbase security's spiriting away of the Peregrine's CSO? I'd like you to double check all of the recent transfers for anything g that is even slightly a miss, for all departments, but more specifically, anyone with security authorizations. Lastly I need a list of all on duty security personnel at the time of Tesenblen's arrest, I would like to interview them all."

(OCC: Lt Reid can interject where ever he needs to, I'll edit where necessary)

"I would hope that one of our own isn't willing to throw our captain under the bus, I hope that someone had their arm twisted, or that Commander Jennings' men came aboard through some other sort of subterfuge."

(OCC: Assuming Reid concurs or that he has anything to add.)

"Well then, I'd like to have a report for the Captain put together by the time we're underway, we should both get to work." Mathias finished standing up as he spoke.

(OCC: edit for clarity and also to make it sound less like Mathias hasn't been.doimg his job)

I swapped out a few of our enlisted personal to reflect a few transfers.

It also occurs to me that is the saber class in service by in the mid 2360's I thought it was a post Wolf 359 class?

A response to what could be the result in the shortest tenure ever for a Starfleet security officer.

Subject: Aye sir...

Stardate 2365.02.08

USS Peregrine, Bridge - 1245

"Drake out," the Captain spat, cutting communications, the main viewer winking off with a faint white flash, Mathias watched the Captain draw in a sharp breath, his shoulders tight, he was clearly trying to mask, albeit with little success, his rage.

"Lieutenant Berk," he asked icily, "I would be very interested to understand how an outside security team could board my ship, arrest one of my department heads, seize an apparently large amount of materials from one of my labs, while neither you nor your staff seemed to either know this was going on, or cared to let me know about it. Perhaps you can gather the facts, and we can have a debriefing after we are under way?"

The optics of this looked about as bad as they possibly could. Mathias felt almost as in the dark as the captain did, something which was hardly appropriate for a ship's chief of security.

"Aye sir." he said, certain that he'd betrayed his own uncertainty with what had happened.

Either I have an officer that went behind my back, or some prick had twisted the arm of one his officers to a great deal of success. Both prospects made him sick.

"Ensign Blackmon, I'll have you take over for me, I have to have a word with the rest of the department."

Mathias turned to the Captain "Sir, I'll question my security officers and have a report ready for you within the hour, with your permission of course."

(OCC: Assuming the captain responds in agreement)

Mathias made for the turbolift, and as the doors shut behind him he felt himself lose his composure completely, if he didn't sort this screw up this would be his shortest tenure on a ship and certainly a black mark on his service record. He tapped his combadge.

"Berk to Reid, meet me in my office immediately, we need to talk."

(OCC: Edit, forgot time stamp.)

Good thing we have those new replicator patterns.

All the sources I can dig up suggest they were on the way out some time in 2365, so maybe we got some new replicator patterns? Maybe? Please

The last appearance is in Shades of Grey briefly, which takes place roughly in December (the end of the year :S) that said though, the enterprise is on a deep space assignment, they haven't been at a starbase as of late maybe?

Can anyone tell that I really dislike those phasers?

Sir, your loyal security teams are prepared to be conveniently absent around the airlocks should the need to space some gods damned traitors come to pass.

Addendum: Since this is technically season 2 we don't have the really ugly Dustbuster phasers anymore right? I was thinking about how I can't have my security officers wandering the halls of the Peregrine such an ugly POS strapped to their hips.

Having literally no experience with this format of RP I'm always a little reticent to introduce things for fear of screwing up, which brings me to my question. If I have an idea for side plot can I just introduce it or should I run it by the powers that be.

Subject: Tactical Systems Green

(OCC: A quick response because I just can't resist)

"Lt Berk," he queried, "Status?"

Ensign Blackmon standing to his rear, Mathias temporary manning tactical as the Peregrine got underway, he tapped a few buttons on his console, running a level 5 diagnostic of the ships tactical systems, moments later all systems flashed nominal across the board.

"All Tactical systems green sir, weapons and shields on warm standby. Internal sensors and force fields are operating with in normal parameters and security teams are at their stations awaiting orders. We're ready when you are sir." Mathias responded as all of his stations reported in, a trickle of acknowledgments displayed on his console.

There was a slight flicker as the ships power systems took over for the starbase, the tactical systems flashed low power warnings briefly as the ship's main power stabilized again, the warp core and impulse generators coming up to full power in light of the suddenly increased load, all systems returning to nominal status as the lights came up to full.

"Thank you Lieutenant" Responded Lt. Zai

I'm in, I'm sure we can get some cool role play in in the intervening time, I can't do all that much backposting short of flash backs though since I wasn't on the ship until 2 days ago game time.

I want nothing more than for this game to survive, I literally check the site everyday to see if there's been a post. What needs to happen to get us rolling again, maybe not at the pace we set early on, cause that was something else and a little overwhelming I suspect.

I would love to post something but I really feel stuck. I feel.luke the story needs to.move forward a day for anything to actually happen. I guess I can figure out something for Mathias to do. Maybe I'll go break my arm.

Seriously though I hope it's a mid season hiatus.

I should know since I'm the officer in charge of making sure that doesn't happen. I think people are busy with real life stuff but I hope that the game doesn't die, things are just getting good.

Are we going to move the story forward soon? Hesitant to right anything because I feel like we're in limbo right now.
