Topic: The Day They Woke Up on the Wrong Side of Reality
Subject: tcejbuS

As he finishes the potion Jeremy's wounds start closing with the exception of a few. Even though his wounds are fairly small, Jeremy can seldom remember a time when he has experienced such pain. His head is throbbing and he can't stop shaking from his last encounter with the skeletons. He takes a look at Ben's injuries which are significantly larger. The thought of being incapacitated so easily fills him with shame. But he takes some pride in the knowing that every cut dealt to him means one less for everyone else.

These thoughts are abrubtly replaced with a question that has been burning in the back of his mind since he arrived here. "What is this place?" He says hoping that someone has even the slightest idea. "Not just the dungeon we're in, what is this... world? We've been suddenly sent somewhere where we're stronger, faster, heartier, and can use strange sorts of," he pauses, unable to accept what he is saying but says it anyways,"magic." "Its not just that though, the air, the stone, this entire place just feels different."

"Damn whoever keeps making these!" Jeremy curses, very annoyed with the limitless supply of undead foes. As he moves towards the skeletons he tries to think of a strategy he could use against them. Unfortunately the skeletons advance upon him before he can take a step and he decides to just bash it over the head with his torch.

Subject: sorry for the late post

Watching as the zombies maim to of his friends Jeremy can't take it more. Fighting the zombies is sensless and pointless, they're undead, it would be childs play to outrun them. But if Ben and Ian tried to run the zombies might use that opportunity to finish them off. Jeremy winces at the thought of their dead bodies lying on the floor. He tumbles opposite to the zombie attacking Ben and attempts to kick it in the face.

Upon seeing the skeletons the wound in Jeremy's side stings. Although he regards himself a particularily selfless individual and doesn't wish to hide behind his friends, he knows that another wound like that would be easy to come by and he might not survive the next. He takes a few steps down the hall and prepares to attack the first enemy that comes in range.

Jeremy doesn't move the torch into his left hand because he doesn't have it anymore and punches the skeleton with his good hand. (provided its still in one alive)

It could have.

I've gotten two characters so far (from Rerelae and Lamewolf) and am waiting for the other two. I haven't heard from dkdkwe for a few weeks though so I don't know whether or not hes intending to stay in. Theres a possibility that I'll need at least one more person.

Subject: Skeletons don't exist so there's no point in fighting them, but...

The adrenaline from the first encounter with the skeletons still hadn't worn off. Jeremy was reluctant to engage them in combat. Although he couldn't admit it to himself, he was almost paralyzed in fear. He had never had a real fight in his life, and now his life was going to be on the line. Jeremy shook his head back and forth trying to get rid of all the thoughts that held him back. He wasn't going to be the only one to cower before them. Running towards the skeleton Jeremy slides along the ground and attempts to kick the skeleton's foot from under it.

Quickly darting to his feet, Viis draws his harp off of his back and starts playing a quick tune that lifts the spirits of his allies.

"Not them again" Viis silently mutters, "It truly is a shame that I've been brought into the middle of all this fighting."

Subject: Apologies for my slow posting rate.

Breathing heavily because of fear and fatigue Jeremy looks to his allies. "What the hell were those?" He pauses for a second, "No thats not the right question. I know what they are, but how can they exist?"

Jeremy wipes the sweat off his brow and tries to understand what has just happened. This must be some kind of ruse, but why would some one try to scare us like this? He looks over to Owen and Galen remembering the books and the silver glow. No, its not possible, yet it must be. I can't dismiss it as an unexplainable scientific phenomenon. This is just too absurd!

Seeing Owen's wounds Jeremy decides that there will be time to understand this later as he rushes over to assist Galen in any way he can.

Subject: The hero arrives!

Had I not just woken up, my mind would have been full of questions; a few being how I got here, where is here and why is Owen walking around with a glowing book? However I had just woken up and these questions didn't cross my mind. The only thought I had was of how hard and uncomfortable the stone floor was to sleep on. Mind you, it was very uncomfortable. Thats when it hit me. I didn't remember going to sleep on a hard stone floor. In fact, I didn't recognize anything around me. When I looked around me I noticed four people in the room. As my eyes adjusted I began to recognize them.

"Ian, Owen, Ben?" I pause for a second trying to recall who the last was, "Galen?"

I wanted to ask what they were doing but as they were now leaving the room I had to catch up with them first. As I hurry to meet up with them the questions finally come to me, "What is this place? How did we get here?"

Trying to comprehend whats just happened I make an attempt to piece it together. "Have we been kidnapped?" I ask, finally waiting for an answer.

Okay, character list is up. I'll wait a bit longer to see if one or two more characters will join, and for the current players to get their character sheets in. If all goes well, we should be starting in 1-2 weeks.

Starting gold, yeah, forgot about that...

well, first off with items I'm allowing medievil and modern, with the exception that your magical medievil items will not be accessible at the begginning of the game (you will get them pretty soon though). For starting gold I think I'll give you 66000. The technology of the world is modern, so grenades, pistols and such. Make sure if you're carrying a sword or gun with you, you have a good reason for it.

Second of all I forgot to clear up some things. As of yet you have not transformed into a lycanthrope. The changes have only appeared recently. As for your class abilities, all of your skills and abilities came just recently as if you just remembered a repressed memory (no, not a plot spoiler, thats just the best way I could describe it.) In addition you begin to feel a presence in the back of your mind. You do not hear it speak or suggest things, you just feel emotions like anger, fear and joy. For now you should assume your character lives a relatively normal life.

To answer a few more of lamewolf's questions, Afflicted lycanthropes have a +2 level adjustment so you have 10 levels of a combination of racial hit die from your base animal and class levels from your base creature. How you make your character sheets is up to you, but make sure you identify what abilities you get in your human form, hybrid and lycanthrope forms. If having three character sheets is easiest for you than you're free to do that.

For races (yet another topic I forgot to touch) it will be limited to human.

No plasma rifles as of yet.

The theory of dimensions other than ours existing is ,to many, absurd. People who believe they exist have made many guesses as to what these alternate realities would be like. Some believe that for every important event, a new universe is formed. Some believe that it happens every second. Some even believe that the alternate realities would be so so abstract that we wouldn't even be able to comprehend them. Some believed it so much that they were willing to try and find out for themselves.

In the modern era, a group of four brilliant minds wished to find an answer to the question that had plagued them for so long. Five years had passed and they had made little to no progress. Believing that it was a waste of the taxes they payed, the public put pressure on the government to cut the funding for the project. With an election pending and the majority of votes on the line, the govenrment shut down the project.

They, however, underestimated the curiosity of those involved in it. Disregarding their orders to stop their research they continued, getting their funding from their own pockets. Despite their determination, progress went slowly and they were running out of money. It wasn't until another year when they reached their breakthrough.
No one expected what happened next. Perhaps it was a miscalculation, or the device was not stable enough with their limited funds. Or maybe the energies they used where too powerful for them to control. Their laboratory exploded with the scale of a nuclear explosion. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed, and many more wounded.

The frightening part was, surprising not the explosion. With the city of Tidral now in ruin, the majority of its citizens left spreading themselves around the country. What they didn't realize until months later was the lingering effect of the research. Everyone from Tidral, who had been exposed to the energy from the explosion had been changed. They had all gained a second psyche. Many of the citizens had been given improved physical strength and dexterity. Many of them had also been gifted with supernatural abilities, attributed by many as magic.

Some even tell tales of monsters roaming the street.

Game Mechanics
-3.5 DnD
-Takes place in a modern world, not modern earth though.
-Character level 12.
-Every character in this game is a survivor from Tidral. They have been afflicted with lycanthropy with the exception that their alignment remains the same even if they change into their hybrid or animal form willingly.
-Any classes are open
-Since this is a modern game please try to make your character names sound somewhat modern.
-32 point system
-Average Hp (Max first level, half next, half +1 next, and so on...)
-Alignment either Good or Neutral, no evil
-Gold: 66000

You can choose any creature with the animal type for your base animal, so be creative.
