People who "adopt/save" a pet from a shelter, only to abandon it or leave it for dead in some out-of-the-way place later when they find out the animal wasn't what they wanted or expected...

Can't get a beam on a satellite, and cable and DSL lines stop just a few hundred feet from your house. Phone company says T1 and T3 modems are not cost-effective enough for them to install out that far ... Gives ya time to think -- a lot!
