Subject: Clarification

I'm guessing you mean Argent by the robed dwarf, being as he earn Uthgar's respect as a warrior. But I just wanted to clarify, don't want to be rude and ignore you when I didn't realize you were talking to me.

Subject: Thiferl eats

Arriving back at the guild hall Thiferl digs into the food provided for them. He didn't realize how hungry he was, this had been a long day. He would be happy to sleep tonight. He hoped he didn't have too many assignments in the coming days, he was anxious to get back to his forge, or alchemy lab. As he ate he endured the ribbing from the guild members who had not gone on the mission, but he was mostly silent, contemplative. As his mind wandered he recounted the spells he had used, and the ones he had left. A smile spread slowly across his bearded face as he realized he still had a create water spell. This meant a bath. The blood and sweat he had accumulated this day would be washed away, and he would go to bed clean. The hour or so that he had carried a dead man would be washed away like a bad memory.

((OOC: If Argent doesn't want his share of the spoils, Thiferl will grab it and not tell his brother, and at some opportune point in the future will give it back to his brother. Also, depending on how much "down time" we have, he would like to replace the tanglefoot bag he used. Preferably by making it. The rest of the time will be used in making another breastplate on the forge. I know it probably wont get finished, but maybe Argent will help, and they can sell it to other guild members for a couple extra gold pieces.))

Or do we interact with these guys?

Subject: Thiferl multi-tasks

Trying to get a crowd to move when he was such a small voice wasn't easy. But they needed to get out of there. There destination was only one hundred feet away. Hopefully whoever hired them would have some back up waiting in case other interested parties were about.
He would use small words like, "we are almost there" and "only a little bit farther." To help encourage the slaves around him.
With Skit, himself, and his brother being of a more diminutive nature, and having just met the half-orc, he suggests to Echo to run ahead and let whoever hired them in the warehouse to know they're coming.
Once the slaves had moved 30 ft (he didn't want to accidentally heal the opposition) he once again channeled positive energy into the party. He knew a number of them had taken damage and he hoped this would keep them going for a little bit longer.
He was ready for this day to be over. This was quite the first mission for the Blue Hand, and he was thinking the 300 gp split between everybody was not going have been worth his while.
He was anxious to get back to his forge.
Hanging near the back, with his flesh shield still on his shoulder, he glances periodically over his other shoulder. He knows there were shadows on the rooftop. And White Blade did say something about not being alone. He had a couple more icicles up his sleeve to fire at approaching enemies. But he didn't want to accidentally fire on a friendly target either.

((OOC: held action to fire on White Blade should he present a target))

Spring break wasn't really a break for me, I was busier than other weeks. I could go back and count, but who's injured, and how much?

Subject: Thiferl speaks to Echo

Weaving between the frightened slaves, Thiferl moves up next to the caster. Pointing up to the rooftop subtly, Thiferl whispers that they need to move these slaves while the White Blade is distracted. We might have more company soon, he says insistently. Then he starts making his way amongst the slaves whispering, we need to keep moving. And being persistent without being forceful.

This White Blade was much too quick for Thiferl. He was glad his brother had spent so much time training. He cringes as his brother deflects blow after blow. But, Thiferl knew, where there was one, there were probably more. So he looked at the rooftops, he looked up and down the alley, into dark doorways, everywhere he could think. He did not want to be surprised at any new visitors.

Did White Blade run off? or did he just back up? Are we still in combat?

Subject: Thiferl loses it

This was not how this day was supposed to go. Thiferl marched his way up to the front of the line, shifting the weight of the dead slave as he went. You could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears. As he marched he muttered Dwarven curses under his breath. When he got up to the stranger he pointed his stubby finger at the man, and said, "Now you listen here youngin', there are rules here, and as it turns out we got here first. Now this group of people is under our protection, and we've come this far. Now you can either go back empty handed, or receive an equal share of our contract for delivering them. But there is no way on this sun forsaken earth that we are showing up empty handed." While he was chewing out the new comer he was untying the tanglefoot bag from his belt underneath the slave.

((OOC: held action, when the stranger moves to attack, Thiferl will activate the tanglefoot bag all over him.))

Subject: Thiferl follows along

Shifting the body of the dead slave to the other shoulder Thiferl mentally calculates how many spells he'd used already today.
This is not how he envisioned today going. Break into a warehouse re-acquisition some crates move them to a new warehouse. Sounded easy enough this morning.
His stomach growled. He wondered when the last time these slaves had eaten was. He felt bad for them, hoped their true owner took good care of them.
He tried to remember how many had started this journey, and compared that with how many were still with them. The red-haired elf was the only one that he knew was missing for sure. It almost seemed pointless to be carrying this body around. He'd brought it this far though, he'd see it the rest of the way there.

Subject: Hmmm

While this is frustrating, he's got to do what he's got to do. Just so those of us who are still playing can know who's around, it would be nice to have some kind of in game post about the character leaving. Either they die, or they wander off. Or something in the Q&A so we can keep track of each other. Or I don't know if you'd be willing to NPC characters. For instance, didn't we have an archer once upon a time? Boy they would have been handy in that rooftop fight. Is Dakarta's character still around? Can we ask Skit to do something? I mean I feel a little funny using out of game knowledge to ask Argent, who is a monk who is kind of sneaky, to break into the place when Skit, who has proven himself good at breaking into places, is right there.

Is Dakarta still playing? There hasn't been a post by the rogue in a while. What would be good is to know who's in the warehouse, and send them a note that says, "hey we got your stuff, it's out here, we just can't get it in the door, 'cuz of the body guards out front."
It'd be nice if someone sneaky could do it.

Subject: Looking around

Jeremy made his way further inland. While he was unaccustomed to the smell of fish, it didn't bother him so much, but it wasn't his favorite smell either. As he walked he took in the sights of this new city and new land. He talked with local merchants and street peddlers.
He asked about local customs, and about fish. He smiled at children playing and lovers strolling. He made polite conversation with merchants, though he didn't buy anything. He would ask about this city, then move the conversation outward. Directing it to Nihzyn. Asking what the news was from other cities.
Finally he asked about Dobb Hesslewhite, and if they new him or of him. If they new where to find him, or what he was like. Throughout all of this Jeremy would smile politely and nod at strategic places, make active listening sounds, and ask questions that showed he had been paying attention. Then he would thank them, and wish them luck on an endeavor that had come up earlier in the conversation, and wish them a good day.

Thiferl walked in the back of the group trying to get someone to talk to him, to no avail. When the group stopped short he couldn't see over the slaves to see what they were looking at. When the slaves began milling he stuck his nose out around the corner to see what the fuss was all about.
"Oh." He said, though it took him a good fifteen seconds to say it.
He looked up and down the row of slaves, making eye contact with the rogue, the sorcerer and his brother. As if to say, now what?

Currently we are in the town of Clearwater, in the country of Silvarum. To respond to the flier we must seek Gaillard in the town of Nihzyn also in the country of Silvarum. So asking questions about Gaillard here wouldn't be so useful as he's in a whole 'nother town. Just trying to clarify.

Jeremy's a pretty social creature. He would interact with everybody he could. He would probably admit to his destination, but probably not his reasons.

"Pardon me," Thiferl asks one of the slaves that has wandered near him. "What was this man's name?" Thiferl shifts the body from one shoulder to the other. "I'd like to make sure his soul travels safely to the great beyond." ((or whatever the afterlife is in this world))

But if Shades331 is going to continue playing with us, we can't "succeed" in our mission. Either, "oops, yeah, that half orc didn't make it, sorry we couldn't drag his body here." or he's going to refuse once the jig is up, or we'll have to buy him for some reason. Or he's going to escape on his own, and find us and be like, "hey guys, mind if I hang out even though you're responsible for returning me to my unwanted master."
Yay, moral dilemma!!!

Subject: I'm on a boat

Conversation comes easily to Jeremy. He wields words like artists wield paintbrushes. He has a way of letting you talk in such a way that you find yourself saying, "I've never really told anyone that before." He has a compassionate smile, and remembers the little things, and asks you about them later. His complements come easy, and he is generally well liked. But at the end of the day, what do you really know about Jeremy Darius? All those questions he asked you, he conveniently left out the answers about himself.
On the boat, he helps out where he can, the captain and crew all enjoy his company, and wish he were staying longer. He's made his introduction to all the passengers who are making the same stop as he is with promises to reunite at the other end.
His laugh comes easily at Geppetto's antics, and has other positive reactions to the other passengers.
When to boat reaches it's destination, he'll put his pack over his shoulder, and wave once to the crew, and disappear into the crowd.

Unlike his brother Thiferl is Chaotic Neutral. So on both alignment spectrums he shouldn't have trouble with returning the slaves to their "rightful" master. On the other hand, he cares deeply for his brother and therefore his opinions. So if Argent makes a big stink about it, Thiferl will back his brother up. But if the group decides to return the slaves, Thiferl wouldn't morally have a problem with that.

Subject: Letter of the law

So I'm still having trouble separating player knowledge from character knowledge about how "I" feel about slavery. Thiferl would probably feel better if this stock were born slaves and raised that way and didn't know another life. But that's not what the case sounds like. He's got a couple more heals, so a thought crossed my mind about following the letter of the law, and physically cutting the patches of skin that held the mark on and healing everybody so they'd have a scar where their tattoo was. But I don't know the culture of the land where in, and if someone's a slave, maybe that's just too bad, sucks to be you, glad I'm not a slave. Anyway, Thiferl is battling his inner demons, perhaps a little more information about slavery in this land would be helpful.

Thiferl watched the last of the archers disappear, and then followed the last of the slaves down the latter. Announcing to anyone withing earshot in a casual tone of voice (not shouting), "The archers will probably go for reinforcements, we need to make this quick."
He then muttered a prayer and unleashed another healing burst, he could see enough injuries that this would make things easier.
Finally he turned to his brother and gave him a nod, as if to say, we lived through another one.
((ooc: he'll help take up the rear of the migration, he still has the dead slave on his shoulders))

If the archers who are running away are still within 30 feet, Thiferl will fire the icicles at them (he thinks they're going for backup), if not he'll fire at the remaining archers.

Shifting the weight of the dead slave to one shoulder Thiferl stretches his other hand out towards the archers. With a mumbled prayer shards of ice freeze in front of his outstretched fingers and hurl towards the archers below. He prayed that his shield of faith would hold out until the others could make their way down the ladder. He could hear the fighting down below on the other side, and prayed his brother would come out none the worse.
