Subject: Stomach is magnetic.

Zeran grumbled and cursed to himself like a fictional short angry cowboy with a long bushy red mustache who called all mounts mules. He wasn't a happy camper again, this was twice a sharp pointy thing had decided to make his gut its home. "Damn, damn, damn." He had called for a potion but couldn't recall if they actually HAD any and that his calls were in vain. "Mental note, thank dwarf if vocal chords still work. Hug Kyrie if arms still work, remind Miguel that phyiscal objects don't disappear on their own usually. Don't poke wound." He was spouting noise to himself just to keep on his feet. He knew if he exerted to much effort he would simply collapse. For the time, he was indisposed to help but he could at least take the satisfaction in having downed one of them and lended his aid to the fight. That much he was proud of.

Farmer

Zeran looked between the farmer and Froderick and simply shrugged. He sat back against the cart and yawned a bit waiting for the go ahead to get the horses moving. If a notice for the beast popped up at the post, then they would have something to do in this area again soon. Otherwise, they had a task to do and things to do of themselves. Kyrie's words and offers hopefully inspired the farmers to figure some better protections or figure out a trap or two, but he also knew nothing of this beast and as such didn't know if that would work. "Traps? Better fencing? I'm not a farmer or a homesteaders, so I can't offer much to either of those but the best of luck. Do be careful, please, this land can be dangerous enough without people losing their valuable lives. Good luck." He smiled, trying to be friendly at least.

Back at the post.

Zeran finished helping to unhitch the horses after getting the cart into the usual parking spot. He caught what Svetlana had said and his eyes widened a bit at the dwarf's eagerness to head into battle. "Woah woah woah! Froderick I thought you were the smart one here?!" He frowned, and in his usual charming manner threw himself ass first into the conversation. "Are you mad? Forgive my being rude but, that seems to be a very very very bad idea. We know nothing of this 'Stag Lord' other then what the bandits told us. What we DO know is that he has been running things more or less like his own little bandit kingdom. He was taxing Oleg and Svetlana here, and more then likely other trade routes and such as well. We also know he has an air of mystery about him and some think he isn't human. As well, we also know he was feared, feared enough that the man we found in the spider hole had risked his own life to escape and get away. This 'Lord' has organized the bandits, either by force or reason and turned them into a veritable if poor army. If the increase in activity is any sign to anything he is either planning an act of retribution for our attack on the camp."

Zeran took a moment and looked between Svetlana and Froderick to make sure they were at least half listening. Sure they were, he continued his tone serious and grave as before.

"I'd assume his base of operations is in the south. If you want to go charging into the wasp nest face first then by all means. But I suggest if we do, we have a very good plan maybe ask our new, reforming former bandits if they have any information for us besides what we already know. Anything could be of value, hell even what they stole the most of and what was their largest send off to the Stag Lord would be vague enough to be useful. Did he like furs? Booze? Money?"

Zeran sighed and shook his head slightly gathering his thoughts.

"I could be blowing smoke out my ass here, but I for one would rather we focus on some of the tasks in our area now and maybe send word off to Brevoy that the bandits may be preparing for something more then petty raids and taxation. I would also suggest we come up with a very good, very well thought out plan as to what we are going to do should we go after the Stag Lord immediately. My vote is against it, no need to throw our lives away with so little information and no plan."

He fixed his eyes on Froderick now, staring at him man to man conveying respect for the Dwarf as best he could given his speech.

"Don't forget, the bandits we just fought almost killed myself and Miguel, the only damn reason I survived is because you are an excellent protector. I respect you Froderick, you have a good heart and know what you want with the rest of your life. But don't underestimate the bandits. I was a rogue myself once if you recall, but I doubt the Stag Lord or his cronies will have a heart as big as mine if we go knocking on their door. We will deal with him, and he will get his. But I don't want us all getting killed trying to do so."

He waited a moment, hoping his words would sink in and hold some meaning before giving a polite nod of his head and making his way to help around with whatever he could.

Zeran blinked, watching this beast he had never seen before charge at them more then a little concerned. One hand shot to his pistol ready to draw it. "Uh, ladies and gentlemen, what the hell do we do?" He asked, honestly a bit at a loss right now. Not many things charged a party of four unless it knew it could take them or it required help. The farmers also were a bit disconcerting, had the beast truly wronged them? What was the wrong? How long had both groups been chasing one another? He wasn't going to try and take the lead this time lacking the knowledge for either account and he was feeling pretty lazy at the moment to.

Zeran chewed on a piece of food left over from his last meal looking dazed as he sat on the wagon. "Just keep me pointed where we need to go. I'm not to keen to divert from the rest of ya. Hopefully that gold shiny crap yields some result and isn't fool's gold. Though, fake gold does have its uses..." He mused giving his chin a scratch then shaking his head. "Eh pay me no mind, just thinkin' all this travel and wilderness has me relaxed when I'm not sick as a dog, or we are beset by giant spiders, or living shrubs, or zombie rat things, or evil light orbs. All in all, pretty good right now." Zeran chuckled to himself honestly not noticing if anyone had paid him any attention when he started to ramble, he was used to that.

Driving Away back Home

Zeran focused on his task of getting them out of there only taking a moment to turn his head to the side and lean slightly vomiting his stomach contents out. "F**k Me sideways." He grunted as he spurred the horse onward to home intending to get there as soon as possible, and get into bed and hopefully not die. "Nice job, well done and all that sh*t all around. You lot can celebrate and make sure Kyrie stands while I go die of whatever illness I've caught." he grumbled not turning his head to look at the group, needing to stay focused, focused and driving, home, sleep, soon.

Night Time

Zeran watched the dwarf, respecting his willpower and desire to ensure the safety of the younger generation. "You got a good heart dwarf, might be the fever talking. But I'm glad your with us. Wake me for my shift, I'll not miss it. I can rest when we are safe back at Oleg's." He grunted trying to hold in his dinner, knowing food would help him heal.

He took his night shift, remaining vigilant as always hiding his fatigue and illness with a remarkable poker face but it was evident he was on the brink.

At Oleg's

Zeran parked the wagon just inside making sure it didn't block anything before falling out of the seat and landing with a heavy thud onto his seat. "No questions, if you absolutely need me come get me. Otherwise the lot of you git!" He snarled out holding his stomach in one hand making his way to their beds while they were here. He puked again outside making sure it landed out of the way so the ground and Earth could take care of it. "Bah, adventuring sucks something fierce." He spat seeing the glass half empty right now.

Inside he crashed into his bed with a heavy thud, making sure to kick his boots off, strip his top off and give the scar in his belly a once over. "Bitch comes back as zombie I swear I'll put another dozen rounds into her just for sport before her head again." He sighed, laying back and closing his eyes as his head hit the pillow. Sleep came instantly, troubled, and fevered filled with dreams he cared little for keeping him on the half awake side of the dreamland. But when he did finally cross over...

He was in a bar, one of the ones in Brevoy it would seem or so he thought, it looked familiar. He was a stranger in his body, forced to watch and follow the motions like a play. "Zeran! Over here ya big lunk!" A voice called drawing his attention from the racks of booze. "Felicity my darling! I thought you had skipped town already?" He grinned from ear to ear seeing the familiar blood red haired halfing he had spent many a heist and night with.

He didn't even wait for the invitation to sit, slipping into a chair across from her and planting his arms onto the table leaning forward slightly to better hear her. "Not yet dearest, not yet but soon. I trust you'll be staying here though? Not ready to fly the coop so to speak?" She sounded hopeful, it even showed in her eyes despite the cocky grin she wore. His heart broke some seeing her asking, no begging him to go with her on some adventure. "I'm...afraid not hon...I'll be staying here, keeping the fort down you know? Gotta make sure you got a basement for your loot and a house to call home eh?" He tried to tease, smiling gently but his eyes reflected the sorrow he saw in her own.

She laughed, and her companions laughed with her but he could tell it was forced, she was good at putting on a show. "Oh you charmer~ I'll be sure to come look up whatever forest shack you got for yourself when I return. Can't forget the little people after all can I?" She teased in return coaxing a grin from him. She nodded to the rest of her group and cleared her throat. "Oi, you lot go get things ready we gotta leave soon." The ladies and gents she was with exchanged a few words and nodded. "Alright we got the hint see you outside." They departed without another word, Zeran was pleased they seemed a friendly bunch. "Before you go." He stopped them without looking from Felicity. "Take care of her for me." One of the girls nodded and smiled, it was all he needed.

"So...still going to rob people?" Felicity asked once her companions had gotten out of ear shot range looking down at the table. "No...I...have my own agenda lined up. Consider it a surprise, incentive to come back safe okay?" He reached across the table and gripped her hand gently feeling her place the other on his. She looked up, smiling gently looking about to cry. "I promise I'll return, I expect a warm bed and a warm meal when I'm back got it?" She teased, even in their parting moments.

"Got it...I'll..make...sure...of it...Felicity...." He was sweating, cold sweat and feverish having muttered his half of the conversation from his dream out loud for any to hear. How long he had been out for wasn't known to him, but he wasn't able to stop himself speaking either. As that dreamed faded, he fell into more fevered nightmares clutching his parting moments with his beloved as a light in the dark.

Zeran looked over his shoulder, and sighed. "Great, just f**king great!" He closed his eyes for a moment and waited calming himself to no avail. "Okay you know what, f**k you, f**k you right in your slimy viney green ass you gigantic prick. I'm sick, and tired of this bloody adventuring for the moment and just want to sleep. But this? Why the hells not!" He muttered a few more curses and would continue his rambling when they had started fleeing.

((Assuming Froderick has cleared the path and it is safe to go on ahead.))

"Alright off we go! Anyone not on this shit bucket can give a shout and hope I hear." He snarled, cracking the reigns they went off if only to put some distance between them and the ugly jerk behind them

((Or if we stay and fight.))

"Alright, you fools go ahead and sneeze at this thing I'm going to load my gun and then proceed to shoot myself if I miss it." He sighed, this was probably the end and he was going to make good on that promise. Loading his weapon he counted the seconds as they passed wondering if he would indeed have enough time to blow his brains out and not let the monster get him.

Zeran hadn't much to say and with how he was feeling he took Krii's humor the wrong way. He feigned a smile but it was obvious he meant it little. "You'll get your damn money when I have it. If you're going to send the strong arms my way give me a five minute head start eh?" He replied to Krii shaking himself and putting on a brave face. Unfortunately because of his illness he wasn't in the right mind set either, he slept and did what he could to get better as things progressed. But he did lose sleep to 'one eye open' at they said drifting between slumberland and that awake you experience just before sleeping. He maintained this listening for signs of someone coming for him why? He hadn't a clue but he was vulnerable and his experience told him it would be better to flee into the wilderness then stand and fight if his 'companions' turned on him.

He didn't see the monster and steered the cart where directed. Silently listening to the dwarf and playing the role of good driver, his gun ready even if empty in case something tried to assault them. He hoped no combat came, he was more then eager to get back home and sleep for a week and feel better. Otherwise, in the back of his head he was trying to determine the best course of action for paying back Krii, and so far the only options where 'hold out some hope that cash flow comes their way soon and Krii will be patient.' or 'Run the f**k away and back towards the city, dump his good and return to his former life style.' Both were terrible and it showed on his sour, tired, drained expression.

Zeran frowned and sighed some as the little bastard stepped closer to him, either because it wanted him or because he just happened to be in that bad of a spot. "Sunvabitch, just die already!" He growled at the wee little beastie. A step brought him away from the monster out of its reach and a bit closer to the group instead of deeper into the fog. He took aim focusing all his effort, all his will, all his sex appeal, into this shot. He pulled the trigger and braced holding his breath and praying, hoping that this bullet connected and either killed the monster or at least gave it something fierce to think about.

Zeran grimaced at the sight of what he assumed was perhaps an undead kobold or something else horrible. "By Hanspur you are the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, I'd rather kiss Happs right now then have you walking." He gagged some fighting now to keep his stomach in check and to ignore the taunting 'I told you so' his gut was playing out. Thinking as quick as he could he took a step back, aimed and fired his gun hoping he hit the thing and hoping even more he either dropped it or at least gave it reason to piss off. Zeran made sure the direction he stepped, would put him beside Froderick giving the dwarf room to step in and ax the bugger better.

"Froderick have at it show this...thing what your ax is made of. So we can hopefully live through the night and maybe find the others in trouble. Provided this a**hole wasn't the one tricking us." He tried to sound in good spirits but it wasn't coming through. Instead he sounded tired, angry and a bit desperate to get back to his dreams, he was having a very good one but wouldn't dare share the...steamy...nature of it with his friends. Lava made for interesting romance.

Subject: Screaming? Oh Fantastic.

Zeran sat bolt upright, he was roused first by Kyrie yelling and was about to ask what was happening but that scream made his heart jump out his chest and dick off back towards the fort. "BLOODY HELL!" He shouted angrily grabbing his fun and checking it quickly, it was safe and in tact. He started loading it fixing his eyes on Kyrie the only real object right now due to the blasted fog. "Kyrie! What the hell is going on?!" he barked getting to his feet and whipping around to find the source of the screaming, this fog would be the death of them he felt it in his gut, and his gut was hardly wrong. "Krii! Froderick! Get up we need everyone on their feet and ready for action NOW!" He snapped fighting back that feeling of dread in his stomach. "Miguel do you got lights or something?! We need to see further we are at a severe disadvantage right now!"

Assuming Kyrie fills them in.

His heart hammered and he kept scanning for any sign of hostiles. "No one run off! We move as a group not as individuals! We can easily be slaughtered if we split up! Kyrie I know you want to investigate and help I do to. But we MUST be rational! Lead the charge and we will stay right behind you. Miguel cover the left flank I got the right. Krii get between me and Miguel. Froderick cover the rear. If anyone sees anything that looks hostile shout it out, if we see the girl and if she is still alive we stay together, secure her, and double back to the fire. If she is dead, we double back to the fire and slaughter whatever killed her. If she is not dead, we secure her, move her if we can and help her when we can. But OUR safety is paramount first. STICK, TOGETHER!" He barks, taking charge as quick as he can and praying to Hanspur that his companions follow his plan in this, that gnawing feeling in his stomach just won't quit and it shows in his eyes. Worry.

Zeran couldn't help it but pop one of his trademark grins. From ear to ear almost he looked the picture of enjoyment right now. "Niko Niko, you'll never be able to keep it up like that. How do you expect to please the ladies like that?" His grip never faltered and he pulled Niko right to him making sure he didn't pierce the man, but making sure the point of his tool never left the soft spot leading to his heart. His enjoyment over for the moment he narrowed his eyes still grinning but it looked darker now. "If it were solely up to me I'd have run you through right here and now, I might have been a brigand at some point but I would NEVER threaten a lady's life regardless of her backround. I'll leave what happens to you to the group fool. But I can assure you my vote is to watch you dance. Now be a good chap and don't move." He whistled to the guard who had lost his sword and felt his grin fade on its own accord.

"Secure him and tie him up. Make sure he is under watch, or stuffed away somewhere bound and gagged, if you please my good sir. He was given his chance to work and redeem himself but apparently his pride got in the way." He twirled and sheathed his rapier satisfied Niko was in secure hands he stepped up to Adela and held her shoulders gently meeting her eyes. "You alright lass?" He didn't expect a response and patted her shoulder smiling before she could. "Your strong you'll be fine." He waggled his eyebrows and winked. "Next time we have a party I could use a dance partner." He tossed the idea/hint out there for her turning on his heel and stretching. "Alright I'm to bed myself, lemme know when we hang the idiot or what is to be done with him. You know my vote." With that he strides off to bed a slight spring in his step. He feels eyes watching him and smirks slightly, almost identical to Adela's though hers carries a bit more annoyance with it for various reasons.

((I took the liberty to have her react some, I'll follow up 'in the morning' before we go exploring grasslands if Owen doesn't do it for me on her part.))

Zeran was lounging in one of his favorite spots, out of the way and out of sight. It was above the ground some so most wouldn't see him unless it was broad daylight or he hollered for them, but he could see near everything well enough from here. "Hm?" He cocked an eyebrow hearing the gruff dwarf and an apologetic murmur from someone else. He didn't have to move much to get a better view to see what was going down. A figure scurrying away and Froderick looking at one of the guard's daggers. He scratched his chin lightly and remained where he was his thoughts elsewhere at the moment as he muttered. "If I didn't know any better I'd say it was her, she was always sneaky like that." He grinned a bit and shook his head clearing his memories away for the moment.

The dwarf was a good man, and would most likely head right for the guard to return the dagger then proceed on an investigation of his own to try and find the culprit. He had his own suspicions, and his own reservations. He wasn't worried Froderick would come to him for help, he had played his cards right he hoped and would be thought to eccentric or emotional for such things. But he would conduct his own investigation if only for something to do until they departed.

He scratched his chin again, of all the bandits none seemed to likely to try and implicate Froderick but these were former bandits after all. So was he, that was his key here. It wasn't a trump card but it would help somewhat he hoped. For now it was time for sleep, he could have tried to follow the sneaky person but they were long gone best bet was to wait until morning and do some talking to people. Slipping from his perch he struck his route back to bed and smirked slightly before retiring for the night.

Zeran watched as Froderick and Jhod went at it, fingers tented and chin resting lightly on them. He sighed and shook his head waiting until they finished. "Honestly was this really required to be done at dinner time? You." he points at Jhod and frowns. "Don't lie, be direct with us or keep silent I'm less inclined to help some sneaky git who beats around the bush when he has a request. You either tell us what you want or keep it yourself okay? we have a job to do and it is a big one." He turn turns his attention to Froderick. "And you. Seriously? are you so miserable that you can't just put a smile on and deal with him after we are all finished eating and retiring? You couldn't have pulled him aside and chewed him out then? you HAD to do this while we were eating? Why? You know what." Zeran stands and takes a breath to calm himself speaking with closed eyes now to keep himself calm, fingers clenching the table and knuckles white.

"You know what, I'm not going to deal with this. If you want to be an angry grumpy little man then by all means you do so. I don't give a flying rat's ass how old you are, what training you have had, what position you held or once had held. But what I DO care about is how you simply jump to being an angry old dwarf everytime someone says something to you such as this guy. Yeah he isn't doing himself any favors but there are diplomatic ways to handle things or at the very least polite and respectable ways to handle them when you are around others especially our hosts and especially your co-workers. I'm going to go wander around the ramparts for a bit and calm myself. Froderick DO NOT follow after me, I have no doubt you would but if you even get the remote notion to don't." He points to Jhod again and sighs. "And you as well, stay away from me as well we can talk later but right now I'd rather not deal with either of you. F**king ridiculous, ruined my appetite and good mood." He grumbled.

Zeran extracts himself from his seat and gives a look at his open kit with his work half finished inside. "I'll finish my work in the morning." He mutters before nodding to Miguel. "Miguel let me know when we are going to grab the potions tomorrow I'll finish after we are back." He nods to Krii after. "Thank you for taking initiative with the map and I do apologize for being rude earlier I was edgy and it was wrong of me." He pats Kyrie's shoulder and smiles gently. "Get some rest lass, flush that poison from your system we need you and that amazing shovel in full strength." His final goodnight he bows to Adela and Svetlana. "Thank you both for dinner, when my work hasn't got me swamped I will assist with cooking as I enjoy it and could learn a thing or two from you both. For now though I retreat to calm myself down." With that he steps lively away up to the ramparts, to wander around and relax himself.

Zeran sighed in relief as they made their way into the fort. "Home sweet home." He commented dryly to himself. Once the wagon was safe and secure he grabbed his kit and slugged his way over to a table giving a nod to their hosts and new friends as he did so. Once seated he sighed, fished out his last three gold coins and handed them to Oleg. "Thanks for placing my order." He smiled slightly, collected his requested goods and some of the scrap and then opened his kit to get to work. He set out the new parts for his weapon and started the tedious process of replacing, inspecting and reassembling his signature weapon with the shiny new pieces that would make his weapon that much deadlier hopefully.

While he was at it he worked on fashioning himself 30 bullets to go with his arsenal feeling much better about his combat situation now. A smile finally back on his face he looked tired, having spent the majority of his time fashioning his gear. He didn't have time for much else during this process but that was fine.

Zeran shook his head slightly. "About as much as any of us I reckon. Though if Krii does know anything even remotely more then wonderful. Can we get a move on please? I'd rather not spend more time here the required, we can study the map back at Oleg's maybe even ask some of our new friends if they might know anything as well. Hell, even Oleg or Svetlana might know a thing or two. I frankly don't care when we view it as long as we get moving." He sounded grumpy, so far he was bitter over having shot his gun once with good results, and then proceeded to have a horrid chain of events leaving him to remain as cab driver for the time being. Wasn't the life of adventure he had thought it would be, he thought he would be just a tick more useful then driver but the cards he had been dealt turned out a flop. He would regroup, make himself some more ammo and stretch himself out back at Oleg's and come at their next excursion with a clear mind and better headspace.

If the little lass doesn't want to come out to say hello again then we can set her and that god forsaken hole on fire." He shouted, barked more like keeping himself primed for another appearance or anything else that might decide to want to eat them. "I'd do it myself, but if I get off this cart and the horses bolt we lose everything, I'd rather have them bolt with me so I can at least try to get them back to us." Zeran hollered looking not angry or sad, just annoyed. It had been such a lovely day up until this turd popped from its asshole.

Zeran kept his weapon at the ready eyes darting around for any sign of movement. "I'm fine, Kyrie you alright?" He called hoping that his former medic wouldn't be bleeding and perhaps fighting a large spider toxin. The lance hit was solid, well placed and provided excellent results he was happy with it. "Keep your eyes out folks that beauty might not be the only one we got to contend with. Though I hope these larger spiders follow the general loner status other smaller spiders prefer."

He was ready this time, should that large ugly thing show its face again he would take a shot even if it popped back under the cover. Provided no one else ended its life before then.

Zeran wrapped the reigns in his hands and wrists giving them a tug. "Calm yourselves down! Easy Easy! We aint gunna let that thing get ya calm down!" he soothed trying to ensure the horses wouldn't bolt and send him and anyone else present for a ride probably into a worse situation. "Of course it has to be spiders." He heard Froderick's grumble and shook his head. "Easy good dwarf if Jargon could pull the cart herself then we wouldn't have need of our horses." He grumped back, satisfied he was safe for the moment hopefully he fished out his pistol and got to loading it. "F**king spider, unless you kill it before I can shoot it I'm going to give the blasted thing something to think about." He chuckled and sighed, his day just not going well thought the upside? He wasn't dying and his wound felt better he was in nigh perfect health. Provided he wasn't next for snacks.

Zeran blinked and then couldn't help but chuckle gently. "You must be Bokken and as my friend here has said we could use your assistance with your skill with potions." He motioned to his bandaged area and grinned a bit in a friendly manner. "We have a daunting task as he said and well, as you can see some of us like to get poked by sharp things. I for one would be most pleased to see you aid us." He bows slightly and winces cringing at the pain. "Ah bugger that stings, Kyrie wasn't kidding." he mutters to himself chuckling slightly.
