"Would you lads be so kind as to come and bring these bowls to your table.” Looking to Violet, the mouse gives a wink and adds, “You just rest yourself, love. I’m sure the lads will be able to handle it.” She whisks herself back into the kitchen.

Fenir waves Ahser and Oltovian to sit.

"I got this, Asher. you look almost as rough as those koons did a couple hours ago." Fenir smirked.

now that they had been inside a while he found that his cloak was much to warm. he rarely wore much inside the abby other then a light tunic, his thick fur made anything much heavier then that uncomfortable over long periods.

Fenir took his cloak off and wrapped it around Vi who was rubbing her hands along her forearms.

he tosses his handkerchief (clean) at Asher.

"here, save your poor tunic sleeves." he chuckled but felt sorry for the poor squirrels.

Fenir manages to bring the first two bowls to the table with out spilling much, but he'd have to go back for the other bowl and the bread, he didnt mind though.

Tor was relieved to be away from the keep, an under way.

As they exited from the castle walls, Anthony drew up alongside his charge. “M’Lady, I would request that you allow me to ride in lead so I might best assess the safest way for us. Perhaps, Father Konrad would be willing to take up the rear-guard position, if it pleases you?”

Tor smiled at Sir Anthony, inclining her head as if to ponder.
"Of course Sir Anthony, I hold you judgement in the highest regard." she paused and arched an eyebrow questioningly. " I hope that you realize that Callin and I are quite capable, inspite of what my father thinks of him or I. Father Konrad an yourself can take the frist shift. we'll switch out in an hour or so, so not to tire the horses."

(pending responce or other char's chiming in)

“I think we should also try to make for Mandala by the noon sun,” the knight suggested to Tor. “Our horses can refresh themselves there and I know a tavern that serves a fine meal.”

Tor nodded in agreement.

"If we make Mandala by noon, we should talk more about this 'mission'." Tor chuckled. "i'm interested to hear what you and father Konrad have to say about it? An it would be a good chance to grab any last supplies if we find anything in want after our "plans". " Tor tucked a stray hair behind one ear and sighed, mumbling to herself. "... goblins. why? ... retched things"

“After Mandala,” Anthony continued. “it might be a hard ride, but we should try to make the Hood border before nightfall. We will need to make camp there.”

Tor pursed her lips as if to say something, but stopped and nodded in agreement.

" that sound like a good plan, for now. I give you lead and i'll fall back and talk to Callin and Father Konrad about taking the first shift."

Reigning in her mount, making the horse toss its head in protest and prance turning in a tight circle. forgetting the mule in toe Tor growled to herself and hurried to pull the mules lead line tight so that it would follow her mount and not tangle either beast as she waited for Callin to move up.
She grinned at Callin and pulled her mount abreast his so that they could talk.

Tor grinned at Callin with a teasing light in her eyes.

" you hating that saddle already Cal'? ...here." she leaned over towards him and pulled his knee closer to the front of his saddle stirrup. " sit like that and try and sit straight with out sitting like yer' got a sit up 'ur arse, an try and relax, you stay like that you want be able to walk let stand by the time we get to Mandala"

waving Father Konrad up ( if he had dent moved forward by then)

Tor quickly reidderated what Sir Anthony an she had spoken about.

(pending further discussion Tor will move back to ride beside but slightly ahead of Callin so that he would ride abreast her mule ( who is quite flatulent, un be unbeknownst to her). )

"I almost can't believe that you might still be growing, Fenir. You're already quite tall." Vi murmured to Fenir in jest as Weldon and Telfor exchanged words.

Fenir blushed slightly and scuffed his feet.
"i'm neigh an ox now, may-hap i'll end up a bull?" he murmured back to Vi in jest.

“Servin’ the folk b’ reward ‘nough,” Weldon replied. “Though, this will more than cover the costs lost in time.” He gave the reeve another nod. “We b’ grateful for the kindness.” He tosses one of the pouches to Fenir as the companions reward for their assistance.
OOC: The pouch contains 30 gold coins, plus 10 extra gold coins

"Hey Fen, maybe we should give some of that for Jorge's brother? Half of that should be more than enough to see to our lodgings. That is, unless there are objections...". He hoped to follow Master Weldon's example of kindness.

Fenir nodded his head in approval, and looked over to Vi for her opinion.

(if in aggreance he'll divide the coin up and give half to Vi. making her 'the money holder' and give half to Weldon to give to Jorge... or something of that nature)

At the INN

From behind the counter, a slender male mouse with spectacles makes his way to the companions. “Welcome, guests!” he greets them warmly. “Welcome. Welcome. Come inside. Come inside. It is so good to see you. Welcome.”

Fenir trailed Asher and Vi as they entered the inn. not given to small talk he immediately scanned the inn of its occupants. Several tables held occupants though only the table of squirrels and the table with the fox and hare drew more then a second glance. Fenir chuckled slightly at the irony of the fox and hare sitting together, though he couldn't blame the fox the hare was quite fetching in her prim appearance. though he did note the tidiness and small splendor that was the marble bar/counter.

the small inn keeper asked Fenir if he wished to sup and board with his compatriots.

Fenir looked down with an all but startled look on his face he'd been distracted by the minute detail in the workmanship of the wood carving on the joists in the roof. clearing his throat in embarrassment having been caught so off guard he nodded stiffly and with a slight crack of his voice.

"ye..s. i'll have the same."

(pending on what the mouse says that he has for availability of rooms. an pending the boys will have to share a room?? if not ignore the following)

looking at Asher, Fenir grinned an jabbed him in the ribs lightly.

"may i request an extra blanket. poor Asher already has the start of a doozy cold and i have it on good authority that i "hog the blankets" ." Fenir chuckled. and with a thoughtful look. "an may hap some cotton for his ears.... i've been told I snore.

{some one can make a jest of ...like a (insert animal here i'm pulling a blank... sry. }

(Fenir will follow the group as they move to sit at a table or at the bar?)

Lord Rothhelm pulled tor down into a hug near pulling her from her mount altogether.

tor chaffed at the public over display of affection. but she hugged him back, whispering.

"I love you to, Daddy." and kissing his cheek.

grabbing the pommel of her saddle she pulled herself upright again and adjusted her armor, an tucking a stray tendril of hair back behind her ear.

“Now go on all of you, and may the gods speed you on your way.”

Tor kicked her mount into action before her father could slap its withers.

Tor chuckled as they filed out of the courtyard. she'd liked to have stormed out of the yard in a billow of dust and rode hard for the first hour or so. but she new the pack animals would be pressed to keep up, so for now they would suffice at a leisurely pace.

Fenir sighed as weldon called for a stop yet again. Aidyn voiced his complaint before Fenir could. when weldon cowed his son, fenir was glad he hadn't grumbled. jumping down from the wagon as weldon called for the coon's to be helped to the wagon.

fenir hefted the scrawny framed coon's feeling a little bad the twins were not much but skin an bones. once everyone had been loaded fenir was muddy and damp but he jumped back up on to the wagon. scraping the caked mud off his feet on the wheel thine as he got back up into the wagon box.

Fenir's stomach let a low gurgle as they finally entered Storm Hollow. intrigued on the construction of perimeter wall the square stones chinked together made a impressive barrier wall. though the town seemed squat compared to the high airy walls of the Abby. the air seemed cooler blowing down from the twin mountains which the town was nestled between.

Fenir was impressed when the ol' badger came out even in his old age his stature made Fenir look his age. Fenir eyed his twin axes, but Weldon's jovial tone made him relax a little. Fenir's respect for the little mole only seemed to grow the longer he was with him. he handled himself and others well.

“Weldon,” Telfor said gruffly, returning the nod. “Jorge tells me you've captured Simon Crag and some of his gang.” The town reeve looked over the captives.

Fenir moved to stand nearer Weldon.

prologue

my father Lord Rothhelm Ravenwindhelm the VII was not young when he fathered myself, hence i was raised as if i were to be heir apparent. Growing up i was tutored in educate, socio and economics, mathematics, and reading and writing several of the common languages from thought the kingdom. but what I excelled at best was getting into trouble. i never felt that i was meant to be a princess. My father would often say that he'd spawned a boy child in me rather then a dourest daughter, i was my mothers bane. Their was much joy when the twins were born to my mother Lady Etnalia Ravenwindhelm. a boy, Ariesous (aries) Yraulithe Ravenwindhelm I and a petite little girl Aestielia (Aesa) Naltauren Ravenwindhaven I. they were still infants. Aries has already been declared heir apparent, thus i'm free to presue other options.

I'm seeking a knighthood, female knights are rare, but i'm determined. my father even acquired me a tutor Sir Anthony Saville, knight of the realm.

previous night, lord Rothhel's studdy.

walking past the door i had raided the kitchen for a late evening snack to tide me over while studying tactics of the ancient wars. my ears perked up at the mention of goblins, while passing the door of my fathers study. Tired of training and running drills i poked my head in. father was talking with his adviser about what to do with the raids in town of Woodstock. with relish i volunteered to see to it, both my sense of adventure and pride pushing me to prove that i was ready.

morning, next day

wiping her eyes tor yawned sleepily, tor barely slept a wink during the night she had been so anxious and excited. She had given in while the night had still been black she instead turned to readying her pack and dressing. not wanting to wake any of the servants she stoked the small bedrooms hearth to life and washed, dressed. Pulling on the last length of leather tightening the buckle on the studded leather jerking pulling it tight over her tunic. the leather had been dyed a ruddy dark and stood in stark contrast to her red hair which she brushed for a second time pulling it into a hightail the end dangling down between her shoulder blades. she rolled her shoulders an popping the one an sighed. Strapping the set of fighting knives on. One slung on each of her hips she, wore them like a badge of honor.

courtyard.

She inhaled a braced breath of chill dawn air as she entered the courtyard and was greeted by Father Konrad.

"M'Lady, I do not mean the delay the company but, as you are probably aware, I must pray to the Sun Father at dawn. You are all welcome to join me."
Tor inclined her head politely and motioned for him to continue. she chewed her lip slightly, wondering how long he'd be at his prayers.

Glancing Callin, tor couldn't help but smile. as he was checking over his pack mule, and hadn't seen her yet. He always seemed so fastidious to her. but that was also what endeared him to her. Well that an sneaking out of the keep for adventures with him. he was her oldest and best friends.

Mother had always complained that she never seemed to 'take' to any of the lesser noble's daughters brought in to be her 'friends'. how could you be friends with someone you couldn't trust not to report back to your mother with all your 'unladylike like' tendencies. a few newts in their slippers generally sent most packing in tears, though she did develop a reputation of being a cad, and a tom boy. that she could live with that especially since the twins had been born, now she was free.

“M’lady,” Anthony gave the Lady bow. “I have ensured all things are ready for our departure. Should you have anything to store away, our pack horse is ready.” Sir Anthony spoke drawing her from the flighty berage of memories.

She smiled brightly and as if just remembering she pulled a small pack from over her shoulder tucked behind her the edges of tunic, or breaches stuck our haphazardly as she had tried to force the last items under the flap and close it.

Tor moved over to where Callin stood his eyes closed as if in thought or prayer. she pulled a wrapped package of dark bread with thick ham pressed between two slices with a slice of cheese half melted from the warmth of the grease.

"here." she said shoving it in his hands. " I already ate." she smirked, she wouldn't tell him that she had ate two already this morning along with honeyed oat cakes and several eggs. tor never asked if had or hadn't ate she just always had food for him, it had been that way since they had first met. now it almost seemed like an inside joke.

she moved off and took the reigns from one of the stable boys, who looked as if he ate something bad.

Tor cooed to her horse and slipped her a carrot, before moving to mount. once in the saddle she looked over the small group.

Fenir rose from his prone nap against a wagon wheel positoned both where he could see the captives and the drirection where abouts he figured Vi and Asher would be most likley to come from upon thier return. Moving over to the soup pot he sat with Vi and Asher to hear their report. furrowing his chin in his hand as he listened.

"Asher and I followed them to a crevice, and as far as we could see, it seemed like it's just part of the natural rock. Now, in that sort of place, pawsteps echo good distances if you're not careful. We could hear them going through it, but if our pawsteps were added to that noise, it could've alerted any sentries that they had. Terrain familiarity was theirs, not ours, so we decided to let them think they got away cleanly." Vi reported.

fenir glowered but chuckkled as Asher blew his nose on the hem of his sleave with a loud honking noise. Fenir looked at the wagons and sighed dishearteningly.

" Do you think you'd be able to find it again need be?" Fenir questioned looking at both Vi and Asher.

Fenir gave a knowing smile as Vi patted her belt.

After Vi rose and gathered herself another bowl fenir hastened to ask.

"What do you think our best course of actions are, once we get to Stormhollow?" Fenir asked gruffly, picking at dried mud on his pant's knee.

(response to question if any)

Weldon's voice broke the hushed talk.
Fenir moved to help where he could, and not be in the way. helping Aidyn pack up the food barrels. with a grunt he easily hefted one onto each shoulder and followed Aidyn who packed the remaining barrel of food stuffs.

Fenir chuckled as he saw Asher trying his best to help with the clean up, to Fenir's shaggrin Asher disheartened gave in an moved to watch over the prisoners.

Fenir was antsy until the caravan had gotten underway.
Asher had taken point and Vi had melded into the treeline once more.

Fenir watched the coons in front of him trudge after the wagon. wondering if circumstances had been different and he'd not found the Abbey when he had would he have been any different then the curs before him? though it wouldn't take long to get the rest of the way to Stormhollow, but Fenir felt like it would feel like ages

Fenir gathered his throwing axes and sighed, he admitted to himself that he was quite relieved when Oltovian had backed down. moving over to the soup pot he dished himself a bowl of vegetable stew and a piece of bread and slouched down against a wagon wheel close enough he could hear both sides of the conversation Oltovian had with the bandits as he questioned them. Fenir pulled a handful of grass and wiped his bowl out.

"Master Weldon do you have a kettle or a pot in witch to heat water with?" asked Fenir already with a plan in progress

master weldon's response ( if yes read below if no skip to **)

moving to the brush at the side of the road he stripped a young willow sapling of its leaves and a few of the soft new growth. tearing and bruising the leaves and scoring the twig bark he added them to a clay mug and added water to the cup. As he waited for it to steep, he made a note to take it to Simon last giving it time to strengthen. He'd make a strong willow tea to give to Simon for his pain, the grimace on his face held it obvious that his foot was causing him great discomfort,Simon had been lucky he'd not received worse.

**
Fenir dished a small portion of soup and added water to it to make a more broth like Constancy. though he new if tables were turned he'd not be given the same courtesy he moved over to the bandits he handed the bowl to one of the young twins who looked beyond miserable and near half starved.
before the other twin could voice a protests fenir cut him off.

" when he's done i'll bring you a bowl as well. you boys' look like you'd used a good meal."

Fenir couldn't help but think of the lavish feast Mistress Olive would have prepared for such scrawny and wayward kits back at the Abby.

he grinned as the bowl now empty was tossed at his feet and he rose to fetch another for the other boy.

pending a response to him feeding them

he repeated the process of feeding each of the bandits in turn, though the older bandits he made most of the soup broth rather then making sure they had veg in it. both because they looked in better condition and to make the soup go farther. if they had more time he'd have had foraged for wild spring vegetables to add to the soup.

he chuckled.
Mistress Olive was warring off on him he was starting to think like a cook.

sitting down he waited impatiently for the squirrel scouts to return.

"hold !" Fenir's voice was little more then a low growl, but it seemed to carry on the breeze. glaring down at the bandits before him. "move one hair and you'll have my wrath on you." he hissed as he stalked over to oltovian. Kicking simon's swords closer to the wagon and farther out of reach.Standing between Simon and Oltovain he spoke.
"Oltovain, my friend. I feel your rage, and my heart breaks for you. but killing this beast before you, will not make you feel venamance over your loss. He is unarmed, it would make you no better then that which you seek revenge against." Fenir looked questioningly at Oltocain. "my friend, let us bring these bandits to justice. not for reward or valor in praise, but so that they may be sentenced and see true justice by law, not by blade." Fenir looked pleadingly at those about him.

(i think if it dose come down to fighting if they can incapacitate the bandits over killing them it would be better. )

1)The party attempts to capture the bandits (kill, if necessary), and turn them in when you pass through Stormhollow?

2) The bandits will back down, maybe taking Fenir's offered coins, and leave peaceably?

3) The party enters into negotiation with the bandits, offering them some more money than the coins Fenir's offered, but nothing belonging to Weldon and his sons?

4) The party attempts to shoot it out and try to kill the bandits?

Fenir had been irksome most of the second day, he sat slouched on the wagon front wagon seat. the caravan was stopping for midday meal, when the briggands had came forth from the roadside. the verbal exchange between Weldon and the Raccoon Weldon had called Simon Crag had only added to Fenirs now foul mood.

“Trained scouts from the Abbey,” Weldon said sternly. “Might want to think your plan through again and back away. “

“Haha! Me!” Simon scoffed. “Back down from these three whelps! I don’t think so.”

(Fenir leapt down from the wagon his cloak swirling about him dramatically as he stood to near his full height and pulling his war axe from his shoulder.
"I suggest you listen to Mr.Weldon." Fenir growled low his shoulders hunching and flexing he barred his axe with a snarl. "i'd hate to be waylaid having to dig your graves in this fine weather.".... at least that's what he'd pictured in his mind.)

Fenir instead bit back a low growl and recounted the brigand bows Vs. their numbers, he didn't like their odds. he'd most likely be able to hold off most of the group nearest himself. yet the trained bow on Weldon stayed his hand.

he could hear the old Abbots voice in his mind.
"money is worthless to the price of a life, once taken it can never be given back. Money on the other paw comes and goes like the frost in spring"

Fenir slid from the front wagon, motioning for Dremmon to keep down and keep the beasts quite. making sure his cloak an bearing hid his great axe. Fenir stood hunched in the drizzle, he tossed two of his throwing axes to the ground.

"I'll not resist you, if I've your word on not harming the others. if its simply money you want..."

Fenir placated his hands as he slowly moved closer towards the middle wagon with a noted and pronounced limp on his left leg.

Fenir hopped that if he could get them to crowd one another enough, then if it did turn violent they'd have more of an ability to take a number out with a lunged or the'd bungle over one another if attacks were to come from multiple directions.

Stonewall Abbey, Mid Spring,
Year 54 AR,

a few days prior...

A gust of wind blew into the kitchen, as Fenir ambled through the door. His arms full of fire wood, kicking the door closed with a booted foot. Wadded his way through the kitchen help to unceremoniously drop the load by the hearth. Fenir couldn't help but grin like an idiot as Mistress Olive chided him for tracking mud through the kitchen. Yet in the same breath she also gushed over the size of the armloads i had brought in.

"I haddent ment to bring in so much." Fenir grumbled. taking a look at the heap he'd brought in and the pile which was left beside the hearth.

he often forget how much larger i am then most at the abbey aside from Prioress Noona and a few others.

Olive chuckled and handed Fenir a tart still warm from the oven as she patted his cheek, making Fenir blush through his dark cheek fur.Olive turned and hurried off. complaining that she had asked for an few armloads and now had neigh a cord of fire wood.
It wasn't near that much. fenir thought to himself with a grin. And as Olive had originally set him to fetch fire wood to keep him from eating the tarts (that she had in fact just rewarded him with) Fenir had been trying to haphazardly help with.

Fenir rubbed his hands over the fire warming his cold stiff fingers, haven taken off his wet boots and kicked them into a corner. He relished the warm tiled floor in the kitchen on his bare feet. he hummed a soft tune as he stacked the wood neatly before leaving the kitchen his boots in hand. he held his other hand in his mouth 'licking' the wound Olive had given him swatting his hand with a hard thwak of her omnipresent wooden spoon as he had tried to pilfer another tart. Chuckling as Fenir hurriedly left as Olive threatened to put him to scrubbing pots if he ruined his supper and didnt finish eating his food, all the while chuckling loudly at the 'rotten Imp'.

Fenir crept into the library. Not that he was impressed upon to read, but simply because it was quiet and no one would think to look for him their. Settling in a back corner leaning against a shelf, pulling a tome down he carefully laid it on his chest so that if startled he could at least feighn reading. settling down he napped till supper.

The abbey bell tolled supper hour as Fenir slunk his way from the Library so not to fortell his naping place. but before he could get to the great hall for supper. He was stopped and told that the abbot was summoning him and to hurry. Fenir swallowed hard trying to think what he could have done in the last week which might have angered him or gotten him in trouble...

He hadn't made Florence cry this week. it always made him feel like such a cad, when he made her cry but somehow he always ended up snapping at her and hurting her feelings.

Fenir shrugged, he had been in his share of mischief and tomfoolery. He sighed and headded to the Abbots personal library.

the Abbot Chamber looked up from the tome he was reading if only to make sure we were all present.

I grinned at Oltovian and poked Reginald in the ribs.

“A message had come from the Quarry in the Murkenhill,” Camber began. “Master Tigwyn claims that an ancient evil had returned…the legendary owl, Shadow.”

I muffled a soft chuckle, though the abbots tone was serious.

This was silenced quickly enough when the Abbott looked up from his book with stern eyes.

“Only a fool disregards that which seems unbelievable simply because it is unlikely,” Camber said.

The abbot quickly set us each to task and dismissed us each with a stippence of coin to aid us if need be. Fenir's stomach growled as he headed for the great hall for supper. Hopping that being delayed that he hadn't missed out on tarts. though he had eaten one earlier Mistress Olives pastries were the best, and one was never enough, at least where he was concerned.

Mid Spring, Year 54 AR,

present time, mid morning

Fenir dropped his pack and looked over the items he had unceremoniously crammed into his pack.Though wanting to seem mature and stoic, even he had trouble containing enthusiasm over getting to travel away from the abbey. When Weldon said it would take two days, he could have easily said a week and it wouldn't have dampened Fenir's spirits.

the first day sadly didn't set the course for the trip, though the wind blew coldly it was spring and the winter gale made the remembrance of winter only crispen the air. the party had stopped to camp at the forks to Murkenhill at evening.

Fenir had been curled up in his cloak and blanket propped up against a wagon wheel snoring when the rain had started. none to soon he was wide awake and soaked to the bone as the rain deriged the caravan. Grumbling to himself sniffing softly an wiping my nose on the hem of his tunic.
"it could be worse at least its not snowing...yet." looking up at the sky with a arched eyebrow as if the statement would alone cause the white flakes to appear.
Morning seemed to take forever to break. as the wagons slogged along the tracks.
