Star shifted her feet in agitation digging into the sand slightly with her boots.

"Hands in the air! If you comply, you will find us merciful"

Star hissed under her breath.
"they've probably suffered enough. Would be merciful to put em down."

Shifting her pack higher up her shoulders, Star fidgeted with a small medallion coin. Scanning the darkness for any other signs of movement or life be it undead or other wise.

i'm still here... i've been caught up in IRL junk an amassed a rather large time consuming crochet project. (but i'm getting paid for it ...so yea $$)

as for the men/creatures approaching. my first thought would be to draw a warding seal in the sand to give a protected perimeter area to fight from.
but the guns/sniper would be able to drop them before they got to close ... or issued a warning call...
for reinforcements....

at least that would be my thought for the moment....

Star took her place on the plane, stowing her gear around her. She never minded flighting but sometimes she wished the plain's weren't so striped down and filled with ripe fumes. hopefully they wouldn't be to high from the cargo when they finally had to jump.

Star's feet touched the ground an slid shifting in the sand. silently cursing she twisted the ropes of her shoot an quickly pulled in down an wrapped it as they'd been trained. Looking around to see how the others faired in the dark always seemed humours to star.

finding the others they divide the extra supplies.
Star took the pump action, an loading several shells. star smiled sheepishly. "just in case.."

(if needed) star devised a quick rucksack out of her shoot wrapping an tying the folds an fabric.

artical excerpt:

It turns out that there were nerds back in ancient Egypt. In 2012, the Metropolitan Museum of Art put some pictures online of the oldest known 20-sided die and shook the Dungeons & Dragons community to its core (not really, but we are going for dramatic effect here, people). The d20 was certainly popularized by the pen-and-paper RPG, but it's worth noting that these things have been around for thousands of years. Literally millennia, guys.

Topic: Weird War II
Subject: rescued from the pain

Star's Story......

Star awoke, swallowing the sense of dread and fear that churned her stomach. Looking around the room she recognized she was in her room, not the cell. She was in the barracks not in the holding cells that they had dumped her in for weeks on end in the Nazi castle. Wiping her brow she winced the scar on her should blade pinching, pulling the skin taunt. The old scars burned into her shoulders were healed; the pain only minor. Even after so long, the first few long minutes of every morning was the same.

Star brushed her hair having to use her good arm to support the other as she held the brush. After struggling slightly she managed to get dressed and look half presentable.

Going down to the medical office she looked around for Doc.

"Hey doc! ", Star grinned seeing Doc turn and roll his eyes at her with a smile.

"Hey Ali."

"Don't call me that!", she huffily growled under her breath."
"Ya, got a minute?... I need you to look at something for me."

Star made a gesture with her thumb over her shoulder as if pointing to her back. Winching as the muscle pulled taught and her arm froze in place before going limp to her side.

Doc's worried glowers made Star blush slightly in chiding even though nothing more was said.

Taking her aside into a private area; Doc examined her back and put a lotion on the scars and worked it into her back while they bantered back and forth to ease the tension for both of them.

Days like this made it seem like yesterday that they had saved her, but her burns were old now and she barely flinched when doc touched her scars.

Doc made a joke about her being ticklish. Star glared at him making a comment about him being on the safe side of her when making that comment or a boot may connect somewhere unpleasant as sitting on the table gave her a convenient advantage should he stand before her.

In the beginning it had been hard for both of them.
She had screamed and even cried as he had touched her back in the slightest. Once they'd gotten to the barracks he'd been the one to stitch the lacerations an clean the burns.

When Star had fought him when some of the burns had become infected.

He was gruff with her even to the point of being mean but he always bluffed only ever having to resort to actually calling someone to physically hold her down once.

Alistaria had apologized afterwards only to be rebuffed by doc.

Star trusted few like she trusted the team and fewer yet the way she trusted doc.

She'd always felt weak, but she knew she made up for it in the combined knowledge an experiences she had amassed; thought some of them weighed heavily on her.

Subject: tossing pennies in the pot

i'm in agreeance with hammer. most of the things i'd suggest for updates focus on chat rather then the forum posts.

i'm not sure what is plausible or not for upgrades.

But i know from trying to host the rp chat games, that many were reluctant to join because of the chats refresh 'flicker' an its general insatiability with larger numbers of inmates chatting.

one thing i found was when in chat doing an rp game it would be nice to have a way to access chat history.

Even if its a specific DM(host) option or type of room opened as a game room Vs a regular chat room.

i know we're urged to vote for the inn but other then the odd new game theirs little to catch or hold the attention of the passers through.

i'm not sure what kinds of interactivity would could dredge up other then a flashing sign saying we feed trolls to fred or a few quizzes?

I got the joke Alacrity, it took a couple reads though.

An i think the way i see Star behaving. She'd either out right ignore the legs comment. Feeling like rat was the type to flirt with most women out of flirtatious habit. or shrug it off that he was simply teasing her.

I give Hammer points for the historical after reference.

I do feel quite silly now realizing in my rush to post. I mis-spelled my own char's name, the first word in the post. haha

I never realized how often I don't capitalize things. All the more reason I see I need to slow down an spell check, even in edit.

Subject: Intel story time

Alistaria had filed into the room with the rest of the team. It still felt odd to be so included. Star took a seat towards the back if the table farther away from the Colonel. Even though Colonel Darling was a good man whom she respected greatly military men still made her feel slightly ware.

Star listened intently trying to read the colonels tone, how good was his intel? was he with holding something?

Star perked up at the mention of Hamon-Rye. Sipping her tea she listened to what the colonel said, as the colonel paused to sip his tea. Star set her tea cup down hard making a loud ear abrasive clank.

shrinking back an blushing slightly she apologised quickly an began to speak.

"Colonel, if it pleases you, I'd like to add what little i know to the pool as it were." Star looked at the group one after another then closed her eyes, drawing the information from her mind she spoke.

"Hamon-Rye an his consort Monanedra were great rulers long before the pyramids were constructed. It was said that they were great an powerful couple. Who made a lush an fertile kingdom in the desert for his people. So great was their magic their it is said that the waters that flowed forth fresh sweet an could could heal a man of illness, plague or injury. With the high priestess Monadedra at his side, he wheeled the great staff of Mo-Pelar. Through which its said that his magic flowed through the giant diamond which topped the staff.

It is said that he was the very first to build a tomb, to transport his earthly remains to the afterlife. Accounts differ on why he was over thrown or how simply that he was. Upon his death his consort gathered his followers and hid Hamon-Rye in a secret tomb underneath the temple. She then sealed herself into the tomb so she could be with him in the afterlife and cursed the lands that were once his to shrivel up and die. After his death, the waters ceased to flow and the lush fertile lands dried up and were taken by the desert.

The only other accounts i've come across are accounts of A Roman Centurion named Decimus Severian. Found the tomb around the time of Cezar Augustus. taking everything of value an wealth of torching the rest. However given the ease of success the Romans had and the relatively small amount of loot that was found. It is believed by most scholars that Decimus found a false tomb.

In 1865 Heinrich Karl Brugsch found the temple. Which is why it is on the map. It is noted that He said the tomb was long plundered. Though the temple was in control by cultists. They believed Hamon-Rye would return one day and grant them the secret of eternal life. Heinrich was hampered insistently by the cult unable to make a long expedition of the tomb because of them. To the point he had to leave in a hurry or face their wrath.

He did make mention of a mysterious fire within the tomb that was still burning bright when he discovered it but he later recanted that story claiming to have celebrated the discovery with bad liebfraumilch with lead to him seeing the impossible."

Star took a long sip of her tea sighing an looking around the room apologetically as she had been talking quite along while.

Tor eager to set a brisk pace for the rest of the day leaving Mandala, spurred her mount into a brisk canter. the bright sunshine glinted off of something ahead of them. being on the main road tor didn't feel to much reason to worry. they soon came upon a guarded lumber cart. Tor pulled back her mount abreast with Sir Anthony, brow furrowed.

"why would they guard a lumber shipment?" she hissed under her breath to Sir Anthony. Tor's eyes dared from the caravan to each of the riders trying to judge their reactions to the caravan.

(pending reactions or something suspicious with the caravan tor would keep ridding. thought making a mental note of the oddity;s starting to pile up)

as the tree's loomed on the horizon Tor relaxed the scent of rain carried on the wind. Tor moved to ride beside Callen chatting with him smiling an joking about his growing detesting of the saddle, even she was starting to feel stiff an achy. Moving to Sir Anthony she asked if he'd discern a spot to stop for the night.

Tor nodded to Callen smiling curtly at him. "rest up as much as you can till we leave." Tor patted his shoulder an moved on to speak to Sir Anthony.

taking Sir Anthony aside with out causing the others offence was easy enough, giving the two clergy a simple out to go about what task they needed to gather what they saw fit in the time they had left.

tor turned to sir Anthony when they were sufficiently out of ear shot.

"i dont like this, theirs naught we can do the bishops summons seems legit enough. the two clergy seem well enough but i'm not green enough to trust them other then at arms reach just yet.
Jacob seems...interesting." tor paused an cleared her throat "he's unorthodox appearance doesn't seem to fit with his title but Elttom's complete oppositeness seemed to bother me more so." not one to completely judge but appearance being herself a tomboyish lady in warrior fashion she chuckled.

(tor taking sir Anthony's advice into consideration)

Tor waved Callen after her she left the tavern, raising her hand to cover her eyes squinting at the metered sunlight dappled by the building clouds.

jacob's loud "HA!" caused tor to jump slightly but the sight of the large egal taking wing entranced her momentarily. the creatures sheer power as it lept forth taking flight.

Tor smiled scenting the air the telling hint of moisture causing her to smile.

"So, m'lady, how does it feel to be out on your own? You seem to be taking to the outdoor life quite well." jacob asked

smiling at jacob she stretched slightly looking across the open yard an waving to a stable boy to get his attention, all the while not seeming to taking any attention from the conversation with jacob.

"yes, i quite enjoy it outside. much to many of my tutor's animosity most days." Tor quickly gave the stable boy orders to ready the horses an with out pause continued the conversation. " the title of lady is real just dont let it fool you into a false sense of expectation. i may surprise you, or not." Tor gave Jacob a winning smile an turned taking the reigns from the boy as he brought several of the horses out saddled an ready.

Tor checked over all of the mounts saddles pulling several straps tighter. Tor handed Jacob the reigns to a soft buckskin mare with chestnut mane, with a soft grin. "I think she'd suit you a slight more then Elttom." gesturing for the boy to take the other mounts a large dark chestnut bay an Sir Anthony's distrider over to the tavern to await Elttom an Sir Anthony. (possibly one for father konrad)

Tor mounted in a graceful leap an pulled herself into the saddle, she manoeuvred her mount over an offered Callen an arm to help steady him as he mounted. As if it was the most natural thing to do she smiled at Callen an stroked his mounts neck an murmured softly to the horse with a side long glance she asked in a hushed tone.

"you good cal?"

(once everyone is mounted we'll head out. sry this one is so long )
