Day One of Journey, 11:05 pm ST

As Ken got his drink he was glad to see the Jon had cooked; the Captain was one of the better cooks. Setting his drink on the table he grabbed a hearty bowl of the stew and gave it an appreciative sniff and a nod of approval.

“Ummmm, smells good Cap.”

Sitting down he dug into the stew with gusto; Ken always seemed to have a good appetite. He was a very active guy; if it wasn’t his working out it was his ‘extra-curricular’ activities.

As the crew members entered the Jon directed them to the stew simmering smoothly. “If you’re hungry grab a bowl, let sit and talk. Tell us what’cha think, what’cha heard and what’cha saw. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of those Feds.”

“Let’s hope not,” Ken mumbled between mouthfuls of stew as he thought again of the fiery body of the Lady Marshal as she had laid atop him in his rack.

He continued to down stew and was finished with his first bowl and was up and getting more as the last of the crew helped themselves. Returning to his seat he continued eating, listening to what Grace had learned about the strange case in the Companion’s quarters and what the others thought about the situation.

Destiny Bridge, Day One of Journey, 10:45 pm ST

“You always did know how t’ make a girl feel special,” Tess replied.

His clean scent began permeating her brain and despite his crude words, goose bumps erupted up and down her arms. He was fightin’ dirty, and he knew it. Tess stepped up inches away from Ken, and put a hand on his bare chest.

“Temptin’ offer,” she said huskily, trailing her fingers down his sternum, “But unlike some people I know, I ain’t in the habit of sleep’n with anything that crosses my path.”

She side stepped him and made her way down towards the galley.

Ken put on a pouty expression and then as he turned to watch her go he smiled; he watched her go on down the stairs and then followed her down. As he did so he thought how he was slightly disappointed that she didn’t take him up on it. While Tess and he had parted on good terms, both agreeing that it was better that they go their separate ways as far as relationships were concerned, he still found her extremely arousing to him. He wouldn’t mind tumble with her now and then, but it was probably best that she hadn’t taken him up on it.

Before heading into the galley; he stopped off in his quarters to wash up quickly. (I think it is room #10 according to the Q&A discussions).

Freshly washed, and with a shirt on now, he walked into the galley wondering what they would have for dinner. He was glad that it was not he that would be cooking this evening; not after the fiasco last time. He knew that it had been poison that had almost killed the Companion but the ribbing by his shipmates had irked him a trifle bit.

Spotting Tess he gave her a wink and a grin as he grabbed something to drink before taking his usual place at the galley table.

Destiny Bridge, Day One of Journey, 10:43 pm ST

Tess pushed her goggles onto her forehead and stood up to leave. Ken appeared in the doorway, blocking her progress. His gun belt was flung over one shoulder and he was toweling his hair dry.

“Well Hon,” he asked her from under his towel “How’s it looking? We still going to make it in plenty of time to make the drop?”

“As long as that purty little Fed of yours don’t stop us again, yeah,” she responded, putting an emphasis on the word ‘Fed’, “Why? You plannin’ on something going wrong? The way you’re carrying your gun ‘round Destiny makes me think you’re expect’n some bogey man to jump out of the shadows.”

Ken draped the towel over his shoulder letting his bare sweaty chest bare before her; he grinned a bit at her words and raised an eyebrow.

“Why Tess,” He said with an incredulous tone, “I do believe I detect a note of jealousy in your tone there.”

He leaned on the door facing and continued to grin in a look that was so familiar to her.

“Besides, I always expectin’ trouble. That why I still alive you know.”

"Now," he said as he leaned alittle towards her, "back to this jealousy of yours; you wouldnt be wantin' to start up things again would ya? Cause you know I could always squeeze ya in iffin you feel the need ya know."

His grin broadened and it wasnt quite sure if he was serious or joking with her; maybe it was a little of both.

You can always have Jon walk in on Grace as she is standing there staring at the crates. Or post something to start an interaction with someone; like I did with Tess.

There are plenty of things you can do; after all it is your character.

The dinner table idea sounds good. I hope to get a response from Tess, maybe even a collaboration to post up before dinner.

Staff Sergeant Max Keller, Demolitions expert for the 82nd Airbourne Rangers, rolled over on the cold stone floor and moaned from the pain. They had worked him over very well; they knew their business but he could tell that they seem preoccupied with other problems. They seemed scared of something. Just when they seemed to be getting into the heavy stuff they had stopped and dumped him back in his cell and taken off.

He had passed our for awhile and when he had come too he managed to prop himself up against a wall and wait. He knew he would get out of this eventually, he had faith that something would happen that would help him escape. He just had the right kind of luck; he always seemed to find a way out of things.

Max was sure this would be no different. He had seen several others bail out of the plane and was sure that he was in the place that was the object of their mission. They would find him and he would help to fulfill their mission. He had seen the Germans take his demolitions kit and it had to be here somewhere; after he was free he would find it and they would blow this place.

When he heard sounds in the hallway, sounds of approaching footsteps, he slumped his head down to his chest looking beaten.

The door opened and two guards yelled at him to get up. he didn't move, letting them pick him up and drag him back. Let them think he was weaker than he was.

They dragged him from the cell as he slumped between them, his head still hanging he seemed oblivious to everything but in reality he was studying his surroundings. He never knew when an intimate knowledge of the layout of this place would come in handy later.

(Stop here so as not to go too far.)

“This ship can be a bit twisty….” Ken said to the Captain… “if you don’t mind I can escort you men… and woman… and show them every area…”

The beautiful Marshall smiled and gave Ken a promiscuous look as he joined them on the in the search of the ship. Even though Ken had a great deal of his attention on the lady, he noticed that the men really weren't searching that hard. Sure they opened door and looked around the rooms, but there was no tossing of the rooms or clearing of shelves.

When they came around to the crew quarters and were searching his room he leaned on the door and graced Vasquez with another of his charming smiles…

“That is ‘my’ bed…” he gave her a wink.

"Really?" she said slyly, "Shame I am on duty then. Perhaps I should search this room thoroughly?"

“You can search my place,” Ken replied with a steamy look, “as long as I can search your places Hon.”

"Men!" She calls out to the guards, "Check this level again while I check this room." and as they move on she closes the door and jumps on Ken with a smouldering kiss.

Ken doesn’t resist, actually he wraps his arms around her and crushes her to his well muscled body.

Ken and Vasquez literally fall on to the bed in heated passion. Just as things are getting interesting though, there is a knock on the door and a voice calls out, "Ma'am? The floor is secure. Your orders?"

Vasquez makes a animalistic growling noise and pulls her sidearm out and points it at the doorway before she gets control of herself and puts the gun back. "Sorry sugar." she says as she fixes her uniform and gets off of Ken. "Maybe another time? I'm sure you'll do something naughty in the future that will make me search you more next time?"

Ken attempts to pull her down again but she pulls away reluctantly and he lets her knowing that right now they don’t have the time.

“Well I often aim to misbehave,” he says as he gets up off the bed refastening his shirt where she had ripped it open, “so I am sure you will have another chance. We will have to make sure we have sufficient time next we meet.”

The men finish the search of the ship with only minor incidents as Grace's booby-trap on her ladder to the room cause two to crash to the floor, but only their pride is hurt.

Upon returning to the cargo bay Ken spoke to Vasquez as she passed him to leave the ship, “I wanted to say you look wonderful in black…” he gave her his most charming smile… “maybe we can have a drink sometime… when you’re off duty.”

"That would be nice. Maybe we'll meet at a party sometime soon." She smiles charmingly and smoothes her hair. Suddenly she grasps her left ear in concern and then laughs. "Seems I left you a keepsake. If you find my earring, give me a wave so I know to come get it."

Once the outer airlock door closed Ken sighed, his lips moved and opening them he held an earring between his teeth for a moment before reaching up with a hand and taking it out; he glanced at it with a grin before tucking it into his pocket.

He looked at the others and shook his head, “Ok can we get out of here now?”

(I want to thank the GM for the collaboration; helps to keep Ken's rep intact. )

The Order of the Sisters of Mercy Home
Freeport
19th of Chad - Early Evening

Asim drifted in the darkness; it was silent and he wished for the music which had previously dragged him up from the depths.

But instead of music he did start to hear something, it started suddenly as if he had been alone one moment and then others were there.

“He hasn’t woken yet?”

“No Mum… soon though. He has started some stirring, they always do before they wake up.” “Who do you think he is? By the way he smelled I’d guess a sailor of some kind, no one can get salt that far into their soul without living on the sea. Handsome lad…”

“You have more important things to be concerning yourself with right now.”

The voices were faint but he could make them out as if they were speaking down a hallway or just outside a door. They both sounded female, one older and the other young.

“Word has come down. He seeks the Serpent again.”

“Again? Poor dear. Shall we do like last time if we find her?”

“I think not. He grows suspicious of us. And his temper is only growing worse.” “If you find her, quietly bring her to a room and let me know immediately, we will decide what to do then… I don’t want to turn her over, but…

“Let us pray that we don’t find her this time so those decisions won’t have to be made by us…”

“Yes Mum… and this young man?”

“The usual… when he wakes give him back his clothes and things, a napkin of food and send him on his way. Just remember to ask for a donation.”

“Of course… charity is not free. Good day Mum…” the younger voice laughed as she said that.

“Good day Sister…”

As the voices halted, Asim seemed drawn to them and he struggled up from the darkness. His eyelids fluttered and then slowly opened; he squinted against the light in the room. It hurt his eyes and as he tried to turn his head it caused a pain in his side and he groaned.

Slowly his eyes opened and he tried to focus on his surroundings. After a few moments his vision cleared and he saw a young woman standing near him.

“Where am I?” he croaked, his throat dry and hoarse.

Haspia smiled softly down at him and bent over to remove the fresh washcloth and help him sit up if he seemed inclined to do so.

"Safe... I promise. You're at the House of Mercy. Two of our greens found you and brought you back here. The reds worked on healing you..." she spoke quickly, probably a little too quickly for his still awakening mind. As she spoke she reached down and lightly placed her hand on his side, only the thin white sheet keeping her fingers from his bare skin. "Good as new now, well... almost." Her smile brightened, "The reds always leave a scar, you know they don't have to really, they are good enough healers that they could do away with it, and to be completly honest (and why be anything else?) they have healed a few wounds without so much as a single blemish left on the skin... but most of the time they leave at least a little scar. Mother says that it helps people feel more charitable... you know if they have a daily reminder of the chairty they once recieved." She shrugged and smiled, pausing for only a moment before going on. "Not saying that you owe us anything for this though. Well... not that you have anything. Looks as though whoever stuck you also turned your pockets out. But, you are a sailor aren't you? You smell like one, or did... we got most of that out... but... next time you come to port maybe you'll think of us and send a little coin our way, every bit helps I promise." A blush ran across her features then as she noticed the slightly blank expression on his face and realized she had been rambling at a high speed again.

"Oh... sorry. I get carried away sometimes. You'll have to forgive me. I'm Haspia, one of the Sister's of Mercy. And you're going to be alright." She offered another bright smile to him.

“Haspia?” Asim said when she paused to take a breath. His mind was still foggy and maybe not all of it sunk in at the moment but he realized that these Sisters of Mercy had saved his life.

“Thank you Haspia,” he managed to say as he became more awake. He reached down to where she had touched his side. When he touched where he had been stabbed it was only tender and he winced a little but then noticed that it wasn’t all that bad. No longer did a shooting pain run up his side when he moved.

“That is amazing,” he said and smiled back at her as he gingerly sat up, “I am sorry but you are correct I have no money but I promise that I will make a ‘donation’ in the future once I get some money.” He chuckled a little and gave her his best roguish smile.

“Do you think I might be able to leave soon?” he asked her glancing around the room, “How long have I been here?” It suddenly occurred to him that he didn’t know if he had been here hours or days; if the ship had sailed without him he would be in trouble.

"Well... to your first question, we aren't holding you here. Although I would recommend giving walking a try before you really start to head out, maybe some water..." she blushed again and quickly turned from him going to the small table by the bed and hastily getting him a glass.

"How absolutly forgetful of me... I'm sure you are parched. I should really think before I let my mouth ramble off, Mother says that all the time... oh... water right." She smiled and offered the cup to him.

"So as I was saying... you can leave as soon as you feel up to it... umm... you know I still don't know your name. Anyways, you've only been here a few hours really. The red's are pretty quick, especially with people in your condition, you did lose alot of blood you know..."

Asim took the glass of water and took a drink to quell his thirst and then he smiled apologetically at her, “I am sorry, My name is Asim. I am a sailor on the ship Smuggler’s Moon.” He said this as if she should recognize the name; there was a hint of pride in his voice at the mention of the ship on which he served.

Haspia noted how he puffed up at the mention of his ship, and while she knew nothing of the Smuggler's Moon, and little more about any of the other ships that docked here, she didn't want to hurt his feelings. A look of feigned awe struck her eyes and she nodded approvlingly. "Ohhhh..."

The lad started to get up but as he drew back the sheet he realized that he was naked; he immediately covered himself again.

“Ah, where are my clothes?” he asked, his cheeks starting to redden in embarrassment, “also, who undressed me?”

In response she giggled and copied his blush. "Well... that would be one of the reds. You see it's easier to get to your wounds that way... and well... to be frightfully honest with you, neither you nor your clothes smelled particularly sweet. So... well... we went ahead and gave both a little bath. Your clothes are here though..." she pointed to a pile of neatly folded clothing on the table by the bed. "All fresh and even dry. I could help you get them back on if you wish... I've gotten kind of good at that lately... part of the job of a blue." When she noticed his blush deepen she couldn't help but giggle again. "Or not... but... really no need to be embarrassed. We're all pretty professional around here."

“ah that wont be necessary I can do it myself,” Asim said as he started to rise again holding the sheet around his waist; he paused to look at her and still blushing he asked, “ah can you excuse me a moment?”

"ohh... of course..." she smiled and turning quickly to hide her blush she listened until she was certain he was done before turning around again.

Once she turned away, he stood up and trying to keep the sheet on till he could get his pants on he began to get dressed. Once he had his pants on he dropped the sheet back on the bed and looked at his healed wound before he put his shirt on.

“It is remarkable,” he said tracing the red line where his stab wound had been; it felt tender still and hurt a little when he moved but it was bearable.

"Well the reds are good, one day I hope to be a red too, but I've got a long way to go before then..."

Looking at her he smiled and then slipped his shirt over his head, leaving it hanging out as he buckled on his belt; he noticed his knife missing but assumed the thieves had taken it as he hadn’t had any coins left to take.

“I want to thank you,” he said taking a step towards her, his blush now faded with his clothes back in place, “I will not forget the service you have done me.”

Walking right up to her he paused and then leaned to her and kissed her on the cheek; stepping backwards he smiled at her again.

She smiled, her cheeks pink again. Lightly she touched her cheek where his lips had pressed against it.

“Now if you could show me the way out I have to get back to my ship,” he said as he set his hands on his belt unknowingly striking a haughty pirate pose, “it cant set sail without it’s best crewman.” He finished with a big grin.

Haspia laughed at that brightly, "I'm sure it can't, so I suppose we shant delay any further. This way..." quietly she took his arm and started out of the room with him. She led him through a series of small hallways in what seems to be a large complex. Rooms come off the hallways, more small rooms like the one he was in and larger communal rooms that bustle about with other women of varying ages in plain gowns in a rainbow of colors.

Finally they reach a foyer with a fountain in the middle, two delicate wooden gates keeping the city at bay. She opens a smaller door inside the large gate and holds it open for him. "Be careful out there Asim of the Smuggler's Moon... Next time you come visit I'd prefer you walked in instead of being carted by the greens."

She leaned over and returned the small kiss on the cheek then stood at the gate, watching him until he disappeared into the crowds of Freeport.

Asim laughed at her remark and after her parting peck on the cheek he turned and walked off through the streets. It took him a couple moments to get his bearings, but once he did he made his way towards the docks and the ship. He made sure the remember the location of the Sister’s Of Mercy temple, or whatever they called it.

He was careful as he moved along the streets; he would not allow a repeat of the earlier mishap that had befallen him. He chastised himself for allowing himself to be caught off guard; he was lucky this time and he knew that he might not be so lucky the next.

Walking back aboard the ship as the sun was sinking below the horizon, Asim sighed and headed to his hammock. He knew that he was healed but he felt drained and in need of rest; if he didn’t get it now it might be awhile before he did.

(OOC: I want to thank Meri for the wonderful collaboration and save. )

I guess I should have expected that but I was just stating a point wasnt intending to bash the Cowboys, the Lions did that for us.

Yeah you have to be pretty bad to lose after being up 24 points in the 3rd quarter to a team that was 0-16 just a couple years ago. Either the Lions got really good or the Cowboys got really bad. You decide.

Like I said, maybe Yeolde is up there urging his team on; I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was a bet on the game this weekend. Guess we know who won.

Destiny, Day One of Journey, 10:00 pm ST

“Gorram, that doesn’t look so good. That’s got something techy about it. Grace ,you think you figure this out without causing us no more delays?” Jon started to reach for the case but stopped, “Ah, I’ll just leave this for you.”

Grace didn't reply. Jon patted her on the shoulder reassuring and then left the room giving the hand signal to Ken and the Doctor to follow him out.

Ken followed the Captain out and watched as he headed off and the Doc went her own way. The ships PR guy stood in the hallway a moment and then shrugged and went about his own business. Shortly he felt the vibrations through the deck that told him the ship was on its way to their destination. Now that the threat from the Alliance and Marshalls were behind him there wasn’t much he had to do.

Being bored, Ken did what he did when he was bored; he worked out. Heading to the exercise room he stripped off his gun belt and hung it over weight rack, pulled off his shirt and set up to bench press. He didn’t push himself too much without a spotter it would be dangerous.

As he worked out he thought about life on the ship since he came aboard. Since becoming a member of the crew he came to like most of the crew, some more than others. Tess for instance he had taken to right off and within a couple months they had gotten pretty hot and heavy. But like most fires, the hotter they burn the quicker they burn out. Now they were just close friends and he enjoyed a little jibing about what they use to be to each other. Ken seemed to like to flirt with other women in front of Tess; he appeared to want some kind of reaction from her which he never seemed to get.

His relationship with the others were less intense; Grace he had never made any kind of inappropriate moves towards her. It wasn’t that he didn’t find her attractive; he thought of her more as a little sister. He had made it clear that he was protective of her just as much as he was over Tess and had no fears of risking his life for either of them.

Ken got along well with the men of the crew; he admired Jason’s way with dealing with people. The man had patience and a way with words; Ken preferred to handle things with bullets and fists. While Jason and he might butt heads on the manner in which things should be handled, for the most part they got along well enough.

He had respect for their Captain, but he thought the man was a little too high strung. Jon always seemed to be a little too nervous or worried about things. He always imagined that things were going to go badly; Ken preferred to wait and see how things worked out. If you came through something alive and kicking then you were doing pretty good in Ken’s opinion.

The last member of Destiny’s crew was the Doc; Ken got along with her well enough. He treated her no different than the other women of the crew. While he wouldn’t outright flirt with her, he would often comment or remark about her beauty. If anything Ken thought of the Doc as more of a motherly figure and as such treated her with respect.

After about 30 minutes Ken finished his workout, draping a towel around his neck and slinging his gunbelt around his shoulder, he left the exercise room and headed to the bridge. He made sure his sweaty well muscled form was visible to Tess as he stepped into the bridge.

“Well Hon,” he said as he used the towel to dry his wet hair, “How’s it looking? We still going to make it in plenty of time to make the drop?”
