Topic: New Game, anyone interested?
Subject: Positions still available.

Ok, if you want to play a character, please show interest by telling me the race and class and giving me a little something about your character concept. Just remember that the characters are low level (2-4) so dont make them seem too worldly.

SilentOne, if you want the mage, just give me the info I mentioned above. You can post it here in the recruitment thread.

I will post something soon in the thread about character generation rules and some helpful info to assist in those who dont have alot of experience with 2nd ed. So watch for that.

So those that are serious about playing, post the info above here and then I will discuss generation of a character and assist where needed.

Thanks!

Ok, I have one prospective fighter. Anyone else? Still need 3 more characters, Mage, Priest, Rogue. Any takers?

FYI, I will be using the point buy system for attributes, and I wont be using the typical spell memorization for mages. Mages will get points to use in casting their spells. Much like the system that Alacrity is using in his game (Island of Putnam). Priests will pray for there spells and have a similar system as well.

So, post your interest letting me know what you want to play, class/race.

Thanks!

Of course! Like I said earlier, this isn't first come first chosen.

Give me a short synopsis of your character, much like Sir did and make sure to have your race and preferred class.

Sir, I like your character, I assume he is human though it really doesn't say. If you can, go ahead and start work on your character sheet. 2nd lv fighter, max hps, list the armor and weapons you would like and I will look it over. PM me what you come up with, do not post character here yet.

Anyone else have a character to present? Get those auditions/ideas in.

Seeing Gamard go down and now the Bugbear Leader turning in his direction; Alôndas mutters another spell and puts his hands together but this time in a cone shape as he aims it in the direction of the Leader.

“Right here Ugly,” the Syl says loud enough for the Leader to hear him hoping to draw him to look at the mage.

(OOC: Color Spray aimed directly at the leader, if any other opponents are in the area so much the better. He will aim it to try and avoid any companions that might be close to the spell area of effect.)

I see some interest; all those who have expressed interest so far, how about giving me a character idea? What you want to play as far as race and class? This will be a low level 2-4 lv adventure, so keep that in mind.

You can post something here or PM me if you want anything special.

Also, the recruitment is still OPEN, so if anyone else is interested make sure to post that here along with your thoughts on a character.

Thanks!

I have been considering starting a low-level adventure, 2nd Edition AD&D.

I am looking for 4 players; characters of the basic classes: Fighter, Priest, Mage, Rogue. Will consider multi-class and even kits, depending on the kit.

The adventure will take place somewhere in Audalis and use the basic races of that setting: Khords, Cidals, Humans, & Syls. Sorry, No Brathunspars.

If I get more than enough interest, I will decide who will play and who will not; so don't consider this a first come, first served kind of adventure.

Oh, I will expect a posting rate minimum of once a week, more if you wish.

If anyone is interested let me know by posting here. If you have questions you can post them here or PM me with anything 'secret'

Thanks for reading!

Ah Tann, a 30 sec fuse on Grenades? I was never in the Army or Marines but that seems a bit too long. Are you sure it isnt like 3-4 secs after the lever is let go?

Now I didn't bring that up to start something again about the grenades with the GM. As Alacrity already said, the results depends on alot of stuff, the most important one is that 'the GM says so'.

FYI, I am watching this battle with eager interest, my Pilot/Tech character is hoping that the crew survives as he is waiting in the wings to join up.

Alôndas smiled as his spell set fire to a couple of the creatures that moved his way; he took a step backwards keeping the Khord Cleric in front of him. He left the warriors do their thing and he would do his own. Gesturing and then pointing his finger making a ‘gun-like’ shape he snapped his thumb forward like a hammer and a dart of energy streaked unerringly from his extended fingertip toward the Khord Cleric’s opponent. (OOC: Magic Missile, targeted towards the one in front of Gamard).

Alôndas smiled as he heard Wembley remark and peer into the Southern room and then flinched as the Cidal dove away as four large ugly creatures came through the curtain; all armed to the teeth.

“Bugbears,” the Mage hissed between his teeth as he stepped towards the South and began to mumble the words of a spell; he reached out his arms and taking care to aim above the Cidal on the floor he touched the thumbs of both hands together and spread the fingers out and spoke the final word of the spell.

(OOC: Casting Burning hands at the gathering of Bugbears, taking aim chest high on him so that he should clear Wembley who is a lot lower than the 7’tall creatures especially if he dove to the floor. A side note: the Mage’s Armor spell should still be in place since it lasts until he is attacked, which will probably be shortly. )

The Lady turns her head slightly as if thinking and then replies, "I am sorry. I do not understand you question. Would you like a nice relaxing massage?"

“Maybe later!” he said with a polite smile as he stepped back to the curtain and parting it returned to the room where the others waited. Once there he told them what he had found in the East Room and the fact that there was only a portal as an exit. He waited to hear what the others had found and to discuss their options.

“So,” he said with a faint smile, “anyone for relaxing for a time before pushing on?” It was hard to tell, from his tone, if he was joking or serious.

“Welcome sir.” She says, “Would you like a nice relaxing massage?”

The mage raised an eyebrow as he slowly stepped into the room checking the sides of the doorway first to make sure no one was there to jump him when he stepped in.

“Thank you,” he said wearily, “but not right now.”

He looked around the room as he stepped in a couple more steps; observing closely the rest of the room yet keeping the woman in his peripheral vision.

“Can you tell me what is this place?” he asked turning back to her, “Who’s place is this?”

Alôndas looked around the pool room and seeing nothing else of interest turned his attention to the blue curtains. He couldn’t see through them; seeing Crow walking over to the West curtain, the Mage walked to the opposite one (East, I guess) and reached out with his stave and used it to draw aside the curtain. He thought it safer to use the stave, it gave him a little more reach and if anything dangerous was beyond it would give him a bit more time to react; the curtain pulled back he peered beyond.

Seeing no ill effects from touching the gossamer like water curtain, Alôndas stepped into the curtain an into the cooler room beyond. Once there he walks around and begins to examine the room and the potential exits from the room.

“It appears to be some hint of steam room beyond and this a cooler wash room,” he says to the others, “I think this is just a room for relaxation. Seems the wizard relished his comforts.”

He examine the other energy curtains in the room and tries to see where they lead.

Subject: Visions!

After stepping into the hot steamy room, Alôndas actually staggered to the side out of the way of the others behind him. The vision he had not only effected him physically but mentally as well. It seemed so real; was it a dream or a vision of things to come. He looked at the others as they appeared and he saw they too seemed shaken by their travel. This was an unexpected side effect of the transportation; one he could easily forgo.

Dudley addressed to company. "Before we move on did anyone else have strange experience as you pasted through the portal? If you did we should compare them before we pass through to another room. If we are lucky we'll learn them...I for one just faced a demonic creature trying to destroy my Goddess. She asked me to save her.....I did not succeed."

“I too had a … vision,” the Mage spoke up as he straightened himself, recovering from the shock of the experience,I was in a room and found my own body, it was dead, but then it came to life and drained the life from me. It was not a pleasant experience.”

He listened to the others, that might share their own visions, as he walked over to the shimmering blue curtain that appeared to allow egress to some sort of steamy relaxation room. He slowly reached out and touched the blue 'energy' curtain with the tip of his staff. If there was no adverse reaction, he would extend his hand through it and then step on through if everything seemed all right.

“Well anyone want to choose one or should we stick around for round 2?”

"I be havin' no interest in playin' this wizard's demented games. Ivan, Lead us out, if'n you'd be so kind. And please hurry, before we all be killed by whatever monstrosity be comin' out next." Mal shouted.

Ivan looks around in confusion. "Umm. I was running in panics dudes when i was in here. I think I ran through the portal by the bows and crossbows before and was in a throne room of sorts. Either than or the dining room with the huge undead rats. That is all I remember!!!"

Since the general consensus seemed to be to run, Alôndas nodded and turning quickly he ran towards the portal which was by the crossbows and bows.

On his way he looked at Crow and suggested, “Before you exit, you might want to grab some arrows and another bow, kinsman.”

He gestured with his New staff for the others to follow as he darted into the portal without any hesitation; after all the portals were magic and while he respected magic, he didn’t fear it. He knew it would take him someplace; it might be more dangerous than this place or better. Only time would tell.

(If they made it out)

Exiting the portal he would take a few steps to the side to clear the portal for the others. Stopping he paused to survey the new surroundings.

Anyone have an idea? Do we want to flee or fight? Opinions?

I would vote for fleeing and just pick a portal, one is as good as another.

What do you suggest?

Amur yelled his exuberance as the blasts from the fire stick took out all but one of the giant birds.

“Areldor your amazing!” the boy yelled as he pumped his fist in the air!

As the last bird approached, he watched the illusionist aim his fire stick and...

PFFFfffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt …..

as the puff of smoke was carried away on the wind the boy lifted the crossbow he had taken from the hold of the ship and loaded.

“Ok, anyone else got some magic they can take that last one out?” he asked as he took aim and wondered how far a crossbow like this one could reach?

In a last ditch attempt, the boy steadied himself on the railing and fired the crossbow at the giant bird even though he was pretty sure it was out of range of his weapon.

Subject: Level 2 of ?

Alôndas looked around at the three downed creatures and the sudden reappearance of the portals.

“That went well! Good job everyone!” he said aloud to the party.

Before anyone can move to check the bodies or dispatch the sleeping monsters, they disappear in a "poof" of teleport. A feminine voice speaks out of nowhere saying, "Congratulations. Level 1 complete."

The lights flicker and the portals reappear.

The voice returns, "Prepare for Level 2." and as she says that, the seams turn white on the side facing the maces and daggers and the stone starts to drop.

“Well now,” he said raising an eyebrow, “seems this is a contest and unless we want to continue to the next harder level, I suggest we use one of the portals.”

Turning to the cat, “Master Ivan, do you know where any of the other portals in this room go? Anyplace safer than here maybe?”

If yes, he will suggest they take it. If not, “Well anyone want to choose one or should we stick around for round 2?”

(OOC: He says this quickly and is ready to move it they decide to leave. If they decide to stay, he will prepare for casting. On a side note; in my last post, Alôndas was aiming at the little beast that was headed towards Dudley, not that it really matters. )
