Well that is good to know.

I can only get online with my phone currently but think I might have access at home early next week. I will try and get caught up reading in the game and let you know Hammer when I might be able to post again. Thanks for keeping him alive! I know it is alot to ask of a DM.

Well I should have my internet access back within the next week or so, therefore I should be able to participate once again on RDI. I might not be able to resume all of the gaming I was doing but I will ease back into things.

See you soon!

I would like to point out, if I may, that a part of your post is incorrect.

Amur in no way said anything about fighting the dragon or even joined in that conversation. He was continuing to the top and encouraging you all to move your butts.

Take gold, of course. Fight Dragon, out of the question.

Hey, stealing dragon treasure has nothing to do with fighting the dragon. Grab and run away, a timeless method that has worked 'most' of the time.

Yeah, I am still in as I have already told you.

Might I suggest that you continue with your one plan to get the group back to the Tavern and those that don't have players by then can be dropped out as they decided it wasn't worth the effort, or something along those lines. Of course, the choice is up to you!

Subject: Strategic retreat!

Amur lead the way up the stairs and, just for safety’s sake, checked again for traps as they made their way up to the surface. He had time, as those hauling the chest were not moving that fast under the weight of the chest.

As he neared the surface and was starting to poke his head up to check the surface, he heard a commotion below and paused to look down. He saw coins bouncing down the steps and into the water; after a moment or two something stirred in the water and raised it’s ugly head.

Amur didn’t know what it was, it looked like some kind of giant turtle or even a dragon of some sort, but in either case he knew he didn’t want anything to do with it.

“Y’all better hurry up!!” He cried out and without waiting to see if anyone listened, he turned back to the opening to the surface and moved up and peered out hoping there was nothing there that would bare a timely exit.

If there was nothing dangerous awaiting them, he would step out and yell down to the others.

“Come on, the surface is clear!”

While the others made their way up, he would step away from the entrance and stand guard till they were all on the surface; hoping they all made it. Once everyone was up and ready to move out, Amur would let Crow, their Pathfinder, take the lead and follow behind him alert and ready to assist in defending the group as they made their way back to the ship.

(OOC: I hope everyone decides to exit without intimidating that dragon, if not you should know Amur abides by the Pirate Code. “Anyone who falls behind is left behind.” )

A little oil on the surface of that water and a spark or flame and it should do some damage. Looks like Areldor is the only one with a oil flask. Just a thought.

Or, we could continue on up and leave it be for now. Come back from the ship with more oil and do it up right. Just another thought!

Ok, after all that talk of using rope to secure the lid of the chest down since there was no latch and No One actually did it?

I am glad that Amur is at the top of the stairs.

No clasp? What kind of chest is this? It totally fails on it's mission to secure it's contents.

Ok, well I say we should remove enough coins to get the lid to close and then use rope to wrap around the chest a couple times to properly secure it.

Anyone else have an idea? If not, I say we go with it.

Yeah, most chest have some manner of securing the lid, failing that, a simple piece of rope around the chest should secure it from just flopping open normally. Just don't drop it.

Subject: Amur

Well, since skinny little Amur isn't carrying the chest, and Crow is covering the party's departure, Amur will take the lead and, being ever cautious, will check for any traps and such as they depart. Once topside he will scan around before popping out and then he will pause there covering the group as they exit the hole. Once topside, I imagine he will relinquish the lead to the Ranger, but will bring up a close second, being ever alert.

Any more clarification needed, let me know.

Subject: Allow me to retort!

"Not all of us seek just gold Amur. Besides, we have found the gold and noone else knows it is here so it is safe enough to do some research before taking it. The parchment could have been cursed, that is true enough. As for staying on the boat next time that is not likely to happen. Someone has to look out for young ones such as you who are smitten with gold fever." She smiled at him to show her joking intent with the last.

Amur stopped and turned and seen her smile and knew that at least part of her response was said in jest.

“Yeah well when we get back and we all get our payment,” he said with a smirk, “you can give your share to us young gold smitten kids.”

He went on preparing to depart; he left the hauling of the chest to those larger and stronger than him. His role on the return trip was to look out for trouble whether it be traps, or more skeleton pirates; he kind of hoped they had seen the last of them but who knew.

(Edited to correct stupid mistakes. )

Amur smirked when others dropped the coins thinking them cursed or something; gold was gold and he wasn’t about to throw it away, besides this is why they were here to gather the treasure for their employer. He assisted in helping gather the coins, as much as they could carry that is, and in searching the cavern for secret passages and the like. When the talk turned to what they should do, he spoke his mind:

“I agree we should take what we can haul and then return for the rest later,” the boy said and again shook his head when the female bard spoke of leaving the treasure. He turned to her with an incredulous look upon his young face.

“Iffin you don’t want the risk might I suggest you stay on the ship next time,” he turned to go but added as he did, “ever think it ma be the parchment that was the problem?”

He heard her tell Crow to guide them back to the ship and wondered who made her the boss of this group?

(OOC: Sorry I have missed posting, RL demanded my attention. I will endeavor to keep up.)

Subject: Unexpected

Amur carefully examined the chests once he reached them; he didn’t find any traps which was surprising but also a good thing. He picked up one of the Orc gold plates and examined it; a slow smile spread across his face. This was quite a haul, and speaking of haul he estimated that each of these chests weight a couple hundred pounds or more.

“Ahhhh, people,”
he said loud enough to be heard by the people still up on the landing above where they had stopped to examine the parchment, “the chests appear to be safe, I don’t find any traps anywhere here, but this is a lot of gold. We won’t be able to carry this up these stairs alone.”

He thought maybe they should notify the Captain and his crew and have them come and assist them in hauling out the gold, but he decided to not say as much. He was sure someone else would bring it up; it was sometimes best to appear to be not so smart so that people might underestimate one’s worth. Amur was not here to impress or lead this group, he was here for the adventure and the gold of course.

Amur’s spotted a table with a chair and a cot near the wall by the base of the stairs; his sharp eyes spotted something laying atop the table. Walking over, he raised an eyebrow at a set of Bracers and what looked like a magic wand. He doesn’t touch them but instead checks the table and around the items for any signs of traps. If he doesn’t find any he reaches out and nudges the bracers slightly with the point of a dagger, if nothing happens he examines them closer and notices some kind of writing on them that is not familiar to him.

“Elyra,” Amur calls up to the bard on the landing, “there is something else here you might want to check out when you are done up there with that parchment. It appears to be a set of Bracers and maybe a magic wand, both with some kind of writing on it. Maybe magical.”

Yeah Amur is leaving the Parchment for now to others; he may be young but he has a little more street smarts that warn him away from obvious targets especially when there is gold just lying about the floor.

Elyra raised her voice to be heard by all. "I would like to take a look at that parchment with Mylos before we head down any further. Might give us a clue as to what awaits." Elyra made her way past the others on her way to the skeletal hand. Carefully she removed the parchment and took a look.

Amur was carefully studying the surroundings from the landing where they had all stopped to observe the chamber which lie before them. He turned when he heard Elyra speak; a parchment? He watched as she passed Crow and him, who were in the lead and make her way down the steps towards the next landing where he spotted the parchment she mentioned. He started to say something about how there might be traps, but he shrugged; somethings people had to learn the hard way. He followed her down more slowly, checking the steps for traps as he went down.

The boy thief bypassed the gold on the steps, they could always pick it up on the way out. He was more interested in getting out alive than gold right now. Reaching the second landing, he gave it a check for anything unusual, other than a skeletal hand holding a parchment. He was less concerned with scrolls and parchments, most were magical and they didn’t interest him much; he left them to more magically inclined individuals.

As some of the others moved to check out the parchment, Amur moved to the stairs heading on down towards the bottom and began to check them for traps and safety. If things appeared safe, he would move down them slowly continuing to check as he went. If he reached the bottom, he would check around the area where the chests lay; he found it hard to believe that all this treasure was just laying here for the taking. Well they had fought their way through a mob of skeleton pirates to get here. This must be what they were guarding; they worried him, especially the fact that they seemed to be associated with their employer. Why were they here? Was it for this gold? What happened to transform them into the undead that were destined to guard the very treasure they might have been sent here to obtain? It was a mystery that Amur would like to unravel; and he was determined not to suffer the same fate as the previous employees of ‘Mad Dog’ Muldoon.

(OOC: Basically he is going to move down the stairs to the bottom where the chests are, checking for traps the whole way. Once at the bottom, he will check around the chests for traps and anything unusual.)

I am working on my post; should have it up by this weekend for sure.

Edit:

Food for thought; anyone think that maybe the skeleton pirates we just killed might have been the 'last' group sent my our employer to get this gold? Hmmmm! Me might be a tad suspicious!

I know I don’t play in this game, but I do read it as the setting is most interesting.

But after reading Vanadia’s latest post, I had to respond.

Vanadia, are you a Aikidoka? Your description of the Sankyo technique is very good and the moves you describe should bring down someone in that case even if they are in armor. The technique puts such pressure on the elbow and shoulder that the armor protection is practically irrelevant.

Very nice combat post for a perceived non-threatening, delicate woman.

Well of course Amur would pick up gold coins, once he helped with clearing the debris from the stairs. I mean it is Gold and that is what he is all about. If others are not picking them up, he would pick up as many as he could.

He would suggest that he be near the front row, of three or two whichever is decided upon, and there he would keep his eyes and senses tuned for traps. If he found any he would of course halt the group immediately.

He isnt a leader but he might make suggestions and he would follow whatever is decided upon to do.
