Subject: Come onnnn

Draven had stood, watching the tree silently while the others discussed the methods of approach. He glanced down at the ground between where they stood and the tree. It was cankerous and diseased. He wondered Idley if there was a bog or two hidden beneath the fallen leaves. Suppose he would find out soon enough.

Or not...The group continued to discuss their approach. He didn't understand why. The deed needed to be done either way, and there was only one way to do it. When at last the two Khords volunteered, and then Thondrek assured his friend, Draven glanced down at them.

Finally. He let out a breath, cracked his neck, and drew the long, onyx blade from his back. The runes that edged the center were frosted, and he was certain, very thirsty. Running a hand through his long hair, he interrupted.

"Come on. Enough talk. I shall approach with you, as I think we all should."

He glanced at the others, then impatiently gestured towards the tree, before starting towards it himself, but his golden eyes remained locked on Geim. A look of 'come along' in them.

When Draven finally opened his eyes and released his breath, the beast was dead in the brush. Frowning to himself, he stood by and waited silently as the group tended to the wounded, namely Lady Quilanday.

When at last they set out again, it was not long before they reached their destination. The tree was a leprous root to the forests malignant infection, and Draven had to admit, the sickness had a sort of majesty to it. Something told him this was above the artistic competence of goblins.

Glancing towards the Sylvari Knight who had led them here. Wolf was his name. Draven's golden eyes narrowed. He could feel the conflict raging within the mans soul, and It gave Draven reason to wonder what exactly had happened to this man. or in the least, what he knew.

Crossing his arms over his chest, and keeping his gaze sidelong on the Knight, Draven said in his low, gravel voice.

"Let us be done with this. We have business to see to."

Though he stood as an unmoving statue, within, Draven was roiling with fury. His eyes were ablaze as two golden beacons, and sweat ran down his pale forehead. The beast his companions now fought appeared to be the same as the one he had encountered in the massacred village. What to make of this, he didn't know, he could only wonder if this was the exact same creature, or if there was a pack of them.

Either way, he wanted to join the silent fray that raged, dream like before him. Gathering his wits, the dark warrior dragged his thoughts deep within and balled it into his conciousness. The battle disappeared from his mind, and all that remained was his body and his spirit. Focusing every bit of will he had. Every ounce of rage, passion, burning fury, he forced it, burning as fire, into his flesh. Grishnak hummed into his ear thirstily, and emenated into his own soul. The feeble bonds the creature had cast on him would sunder yet.

As Draven rounded a corner and strolled towards the party, he raised a brow and regarding the near-accusatory elf who had just arrived. The others piped up but it neither improved the sylvari's suspicions, or Draven's humor. His pale face was currently...particularly dour.

Yet when Elessarae questioned him, he replied, having approached the group in that usual, lightfooted swagger of his. He looked at her a moment, as if confused by her question. Then slowly he lifted the bottle of Troggladyte's Tears he had so legitimately aquired. Glancing at it sidelong, as if it may be the reason, he shrugged, then spoke.

"I assumed, my most prestigious Lady, that the creature had satisfied it's bloodlust, and was returning to the forest. Or perhaps it was simply a scavenger. Not the murderer of an entire village...did seem a bit small to me."

Draven cast the newcomer a glance and grinned a wolfish grin.

"After all. It left us be, knowing we were in this fine establishment here."

He gestured to the tavern.

"Nor has it attacked our most honorable knight here."

"Then again...If you've never met a human before, then allow me to educate you all. They don't usually have eyes that can...peer into your soul."

The man smiled. A chilling smile. his golden eyes sparked, with that hollow light, then faded.

"Perhaps I don't need to carry anything to strike fear into that which is conscious of the laws of mortality."

He let the silence settle over the group for a moment. His hands still held out at his sides. His right, gloved hand still gripping the bottle. When he acted again it was to lift the bottle to his lips and lean against the building. By now the group knew this was Draven's way of saying 'Im ready'.

Draven watched, fascinated for a moment as the beast tore into the open torso of the young boy. His white ribs were splayed, and pink entrails were strung about the lizards forearms and tangled in it’s jagged teeth. This was the murderer of an entire village? Draven frowned. Suddenly the beast looked up, and locked eyes with his.

“Somehow I expected something…bigger.”

The beast took a step towards him, then froze. A breeze swept around his black cloak, wipping his ebon hair around his white, carven face. The creature sniffed the air, and as Draven watched, it turned and seemingly fled from the village, into the trees beyond. The warrior raised an eyebrow as he looked after it, before glancing once more at the mangled corpse. Stepping over it, he continued down the road. This was a common village, however. Elders, farmers. Not a place for commerce or the adventuring sort. With a sigh, Draven resolved to loop back around the block and return to the group. Something told him that any lively welcome they had here was gone. He chuckled at the pun.

Rising from the body of the tavern-keep, bottle in hand, Draven looked at Elessare as if she had just told a joke he didn't quite get.

Looking back over his shoulder at the tavern full of alcohal, he frowned, before lifting his bottle to his lips, and stepping back through the doorway. He wasn't one to so carelessly waste a good bottle.

On the other hand...the village must have an alchemist shop...or a magic shop. With that thought, Draven headed down the street.

Really this was becoming a fascinating sort of adventure. Far more had come out of it then he ever would have expected, back when he agreed to accompany the hired party into the Chakran Mountains. Draven smiled to himself as he nonchalantly rolled a corpse onto it’s back with his foot. Somehow he knew it would be…Funny how those things happen.

As he reflected on his most fortuitous circumstances, and the faint, yellow glow of his eyes reflected in the fading eyes of the dead elfs face, frozen in terror, a new sound came to his ears…Someone was approaching.

The exchange that would follow, between the returned Lady Quilanday, and their newest companion, Elessarae, was of even greater interest to him, and the ghastly warrior, drabbed in black, listened, hovered over the fallen elf like the reaper standing over his harvest, to all that was said.

Glancing sidelong at her, through streamers of black hair, swept into the wind, his eyes narrowed as hers rained silver tears, and then flashed with hardened determination. She was stronger then age would tell. The other fools would do well to realize this.

Suddenly, she spoke, loudly, directed towards him and the others, in a demand for them to gather around. He stood where he was and watched.

"Please gather together, she calls to the group. "We need to prepare to find the mutated tree and then deal with the beast the struck here. We are going to need a few things if we want to get to the tree safely."

At that, Draven nodded in confirmation. Throwing his hair over his shoulders, and his long, flowing jacket behind him, he strolled towards them.

“I couldn’t agree more, M’lady. We do need a few things. I’m going to be getting mine right away. Hate to hold everyone up.”

Slipping past the group and through the open, tavern doors, he strolls behind the bar, grabbing the bottle of Trogladytes Tears, before turning, bowing respectfully before the dead tavern keep, and promply placing two gold coins in payment, over the dead man’s open eyes.

Now, Draven was ready to go.

Draven looked towards the doorway and watched impassively as the innkeeper stumbled in and fell, dead before them. Raising an eyebrow of mild interest, the dark warrior picked his sword from the pillar it rested against and strolled casually towards the body and the open doorway. Leaning slightly over the corpse, he peered at the ravage marks, then glanced out into the village.

A glimpse of something scaly rushed by, and Draven frowned. From here he could make out a few dead bodies laying in the streets. Whatever had done this work had done it efficiently. He couldn't help but be impressed.

Glancing over his shoulder, his pale, flashing eyes locked with Elessares, and held them for a moment. Then, without a word, he turned and strolled out of the tavern.

Geim had gotten up to approach Draven, and found that Gothard had gotten to him first. The tall man was leaning against the counter, one hand gripping a mug, and the other leaning on the massive, ebony blade like a walking stick. Behind his long veil of black hair, golden eyes were regarding the wolf-dog. He looked unimpressed.

The dwarf coughed, and Draven glanced at him, before lifting the mug to his pale lips. Geim took this as his queue to speak.

“This girl...bladesinger be set here to meet up with us and has things to impart. I am asking ye to join us. Now, she be wating until town officials come to tell what news she has and when they do, I be asking you to join us at least then. Though you be welcome now, laddie. We've been through some tough times and it took all of us together to get this far.”

Draven looked at him impassively.

“Are ye coming now or later?"

Draven lowered his cold gaze back onto the dog, whining at his feet.

“I sometimes wonder how you managed to turn a canine into a drunkard….”

Draven looked back at the dwarf, and whether he was making a joke, or seriously wondered, Geim couldn’t be sure. The dark man had a strange sense of humor. Either way, though…he didn’t answer the dwarfs question, but took another drink, evoking another whine from the dog. It did seem Draven was enjoying Gothards discomfort.

As it turned out, though, the newcomer began to speak, glancing once at Draven, as if to include him in the conversation. He listened, seemingly interested in the plague, and whatever malicious mastermind lay behind it. Yet at...very near to the end of her conversation, a yellow flare lit the room where he stood. his eyes had flashed with a brilliance of interest, and his face went ashen for but a moment, before the cold, stoic mask recovered itself. But when she had finished speaking, Draven lifted the mug once more to his lips, drained it, and set it squarely on the table.

Casting a meaningful look at Alyssia, who had not spoken to a single member of the rest of the group since her conversation with him, he strolled to the group and leaned against a column, seemingly waiting to hear their decision.

Sorry for the delay...i think Vesper is gone...and sadly our rp session never came to an end.

To explain my absence, Draven just hasn't been around...and he seems a bit moodier then normal...more then moody..totally malicious currently....walking on razorblades .

If anyone has asked him whats wrong over the pst few days they would have gotten only a look that could kill, but it's obvious something is on his mind, as hes not USUALLY THIS bitter.

Subject: At Last

He hadn’t spoken since they had left the tower. Hanging back as rear guard, Draven Ire’Dante had allowed the oily black cloud of sullen secrecy to linger over him, until they had reached the Sylvari city. Without a word, he had left the group. He had business to tend to.

When at last they had completed their business, he was waiting impatiently for them, and when they set out again, he was clearly still enwrapped in his own dark thoughts, and as soon as they had reached Hith Elee, he left them again. Any protests about his skipping out on their meeting with the awaiting blade singer would be ignored….

So perhaps it was a surprise, or perhaps it wasn’t when in the middle of the groups introduction to the young and surprisingly unfamiliar Blade Singer, the doors to the Solanis Paean Inn were thrown open, and he returned.

Ignoring the uneasy glances of the innkeeper and his patrons, Draven stood in the doorway a moment. In the gloom of the Inn, he was a wraith, enwrapped in a cloak that could have been sewn from shadow, and seething with an aura of malignance that would have surprised his own party…save perhaps Alyssia. From the shadows beneath the black cowel, burning golden eyes danced over the party and settled on the young elf maiden.

“Further out of our way, and another added to the number.”

His voice was a cold rasp.

Strolling closer, slowly, until he stood over the table the party sat at, his unnatural eyes fixed on her, he pulled back his hood, and let his cloak slide over his shoulders, now out of the elements. His ebony hair fell over his chest, framing his skin, pale as the moon, perhaps as cold as snow. His black, leather armor was freshly cared for and tended, and as he slung the massive dai katana from his shoulders and leaned it on a nearby pillar, the faint light of the tavern danced across the icy runes etched into it’s black surface.

To Elessar, it would have taken more then a moment of pondering to determine whether the being before her was man, or some form of fiend. His face was proud and handsome and carved from ivory, hard as the face of a murderer, but lined with something…deeper., and his unnatural, golden eyes burned with a light that spoke of malice, hate, and again, something more. This was a darkness on the group, and what his story was, she could not guess.

He studied her in silence a moment, before turning, grabbing his blade, and strolling to the bar where he spun a stool around and leaned his back against the bar, after “The strongest” from the keep.

"The source of my guidance should be known to you be now. I am more concerned, however, at what this name has to do with you. Has it not been long enough for you to start trusting somebody? Why not start with me?"

As her hand reached for his face, he brought his own up and caught her wrist before she could touch him. His gleaming, golden eyes remained locked on hers as he lowered her hand back to her side. Crossing his arms over his chest he peered down at her, as if inspecting her. A smirk slowly carved its way across his face. So she seemed only to know the name of Avesaath.

“Your guidance gives you names but not reasons?”

He let the question linger a moment.

“Why not trust you?”

He paused a moment, as if mulling over the question.

“Why not trust the servant of a God?”

His eyes burned as he looked into her face. His brow furrowed and his jaw locked in anger.

“We come from two different worlds, priestess. You are favored and I am fallen. If you knew my tale, you would not wish to…help me. Infact I daresay your most holy goddess would demand I be smitten..or whatever it is you do to the fell and the evil..Blind us with light no doubt. My name is Dera’Vaine Iru Dantes. Does the black speech mean nothing to you? There is no saving me. My fate is carved into the most noxious brimstone of the darkest depths of the nine hells. It was written a lifetime ago…by a man nolonger living, with a name that is dead, with a decision I cannot regret. You serve a godess; and I tell you now. The Gods have in interest in saving me. All that can come from it is my already inevitable destruction, and…”

His voice dropped. A hint of what might be sorrow, or perhaps exhaustion played at it.

“You would only be hurt…”

His eyes remained locked on her.

“If your goddess wished for you to save me, she would tell you my tale herself; but for me to drag you into this…you strike at what little conscience I have retained. I do not wish to cause you such hurt.”

The word caused him to freeze, for but an instance, before spinning around on her, his face contorted and his eyes burning. There was no denying he knew that name. In his surprise, he dropped his flask. The syrupy fluid poured onto his boot, for a moment before he realized, and stooped to pick it up.

"How do you know that name, sorceress?"

Draven's just going to linger about the forest eaves. Smoke his pipe...whatnot. This is...as most of the group should know..common of him. He does it every time they camp or stop for a bit.

The only reason im saying this, is to ensure noone thinks hes storming off to try and continue without them.

"Draven, maybe you could allow them to clear out the tower before we press on. I would wish to speak with you and could also use some rest."

Dravens gaze fell on Alyssia, but he said nothing. Whatever he thought of her suggestion, he didn't show it. The enigma behind the fire in his eyes as veiled as ever. Without a word he turned from her, the group, and the tower. Digging out his own flask from his pockets, and drinking deeply from it, he started for the eaves of the forest that surrounded the clearing.
