Subject: much needed down time

Airion sat around the small campfire holding his side. He was pretty sure he had at least a few broken ribs. He was about to ask the other two if they had anything to help heal him, when Heironomus offered some up.

"I'll gladly take any healing you can give me. I had quite a few beatings while we were held captive. There were times when I wish they would have killed me, but no they wouldn't offer me that satisfaction. They held me just at the brink of life. I was surprised I've been able to hold up this long. Thank you!"

"Kyara, I know you would like to believe that young lady Jocelyn is innocent. I am sorry but it isn't completely so. I have a good sense at reading people. Call it a habit of my profession. I had a good look into her eyes before we left. She may not have liked everything about her current situation, but part of her wanted to be there. It is very possible she could have been in on her own kidnapping."

Airion was feeling better after receiving healing. He found a comfortable spot to lay down and set up his sleeping gear. While trying to relax and clear his mind so he could get some sleep Airion overheard Kyara talking to her companion. She wanted to go get her horse.

"Pardon my interruption. With the group of people we just dealt with, I wouldn't be so sure that your horse would still be where you left it. As it may be I assume that you and your mount have a close bond. I think it is foolish for you to travel alone right now. There are dangerous elements all around us. I would recommend one of us go with you. I wish it were me, but I am not yet strong enough. If you decide to go alone, use stealth, stick to the shadows, and do not engage anyone or anything unless your life depends on it. Whatever you decide, you must move and act quickly."

"Heironomus, you are correct, it would be best for us to plan our next move when she returns." Airion's head was swimming. The events of the last few days were finally catching up to him. As he felt his consciousness slipping away he managed to get out a few last words before he was out. "Right now I need......zzzzz"

not trying to be rude, but I had a thought.

I know sometimes post are made on the fly and done with time constraints. You said the gnome passed out the stones, but to which character did each stone go. perhaps it isn't really important but sometimes a little detail can really make the post and story a bit better.

Ok so I knew the claudia thing but didn't realize that was the gorl's name. You would think I would as many times as I have seen that movie, but oh well.

I had forgotten about Lorna. But game wise none of us would know that. I think that situation might make sense though.

Well, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

so maybe i missed something but he last line of conversation in the Q&A has left my mind like JELLO. And waht exactly are the signifigances of the names Claudia and Lorna? Would these be bad names for the girl to have?

Oh well, guess I'll just figure it out when Meri posts in the game.

Subject: better late than never

The lone druid and his wolf companion had been travelling for several days. Neither really knew their destination. The druid was following what could only be described as a instinctual pull. At last the two companions came upon an inn.

The hour was late, but there was still activity at the inn. Before he even thought about entering the inn, he searched out a spot to rest for the night. Nearby to the inn was a small clearing that would make the perfect place. He knelt down and whispered something into the ear of his companion. She padded of lightly and curled up to lay down near the edge of the clearing.

He proceeded back to the inn to hopefully find some information regarding his vision. A gnome was entering the doors just ahead of him. He stopped and relinquished his weapons at the door. Walking in he was assailed by the sights, and smells. Granted he had been in establishments like this before, but this place was overwhelming. After regaining his senses, he spotted an empty table and proceeded toward it. He passed the gnome chasing after a rat, a monk reading a tome, and another elf leaning against the wall. Reaching the empty table he sat , and waited. He wasn't quite sure what he waited for, but he waited none the less.

Subject: Wait do i look that feminine?

Kiirnon was enjoying the company of his classmates and their instructor. It was nice to not have to sit in the corner and hide from the rest of the crowd. He was laughing and enjoying the stories being told. Something caught his attention. Something strange. His sleeve shouldn't have been caught on anything, but he felt some resistance. He turned his head to look what the matter was. There tugging on his sleeve was a little girl. now this is very odd

The girl was well dressed and had pigtails. She was cute but something about her seemed a bit off. Foremost, what was a small child doing in a tavern this late at night. When the little girl looked at Kiirnon he felt like his stomach drop. It reminded him of that time a runaway cart had gone over Muldeq ravine, with him still in it. As he recovered from the initial sensation, he heard he utter one single word "Mommy?"

If the strange feeling he felt wasn't enough now Kiirnon was a bit shocked as well. At this point it had seemed the attention of the table had turned to him and this little girl. He had no idea what to do. surely she can't think I am her mother.

His stomach and head still felt a bit off, but he worked through the sensation. He had to figure this situation out. Kiirnon slid back his chair and got out of it kneeling down beside the little girl. She still held onto his sleeve. "I'm sorry dear, but I'm afraid I'm not your mother. I can help you find her if you want. What is your name?"

Turning his head towards the table and his fellow classmates, "We may need a bit of help here."

Subject: Hi...I'm bob...I have been sober for 6 days now.....

After Airion stepped through the door, he took Ele's hint to move out of the way. However, when he turned to look back at the doorway it was gone.

The area now surrounding them was unfamiliar to him. They were at the edge of a forest, an unfamiliar city in the distance. Ele may have been talking to him. He wasn't really paying attention. He was more focused on trying to adjust to the surroundings and get his bearings. He looked skyward and realized quite a bit of time had passed since they were captured.

The elf and human were having their own conversation. Airion started to come back to teh reality of things as the human approached and began speaking. "I am Heironymus....defend a merchants caravan.....doubts about.... not fully succceed..... masters daughter" damn my head hurts. I'm going to need to rest soon The first parts of what the human said were patchy, but Airion pushed the pain of his headache away and focused on what was else was being said. But we know almost nothing about you. And yet, the next stage of this mission depends upon you. I am left with two questions:
1. Who are you and what is your role in all of this? We were simple guards and rescuers. I know little of this likely war he spoke of, but find little positive in the thought of war.
2. You have the letter which supposedly will state a ransom price for the girl. For lack of a better choice, I suppose it should be delivered. But it is in your possession. What do you say? Perhaps you know more of these events than we do? Or at least more than I do."

Airion waited a few moments to see if Ele or the elf woman had anything to say before he spoke up. "I wish we could have met under different circumstances Heironymus. I am Airion and my companion is Elemmiire. We are both of the Illurian Empire and hail from Bevaris. We along with a few others were hired to discover the cause of the raids that have been occuring on the trade roads recently. We were attacked and several of our party were murdered. We were the only two spared. I have been tortured to the brink of death and kept away from my companion until just today."

Stopping for a moment Airion realized he was parched. He couched a bit to clear his throat before continuing on. "I am not sure of my part, or any of our parts for that much matter. It seems as though we are being used as pawns in a game where lives hang in the balance." Taking off his pack airion set it down and searched through for the planted letter. Pulling it out he continued. "I believe this is the letter that man spoke of. It is the only thing out of palce in my pack. I would hand it over to you and go on my way to complete my mission, however I don't belive that would end well. Something tells me I am to retain the letter." The thought of that girl's eyes nagged at Airion. "The girl that this ransom is for, Jocelyn was it. I think part of waht we saw was a show. She is not being held there completely against her will. I was able to look into her eyes before we left and saw something there."

"I am willing to offer my assistance if Ele would agree. This area is unfamiliar to me, but I am going to assume the city to our east is our destination. Now I am all for getting to know each other some more, but could we set up camp. I'm starving and need some rest."

Kiirnon Talren
Red Dragon Inn Dining Area
Week 1 - Day 3 Evening

Kiirnon had left the small group and headed back toward the school. He sat throught the rest of his class that day lost in his thoughts. He was distracted and at the end of the day he was tired. He returned to his room and flopped down on his bed. As he closed his eyes all he wanted was to sleep. He knew he would have to go to the dinner at the Inn though. If he was to accomplish his goal, he couldn't be a hermit.

Kiirnon got cleaned up and went to his closet. He found his nicer clothes he had hung up and decided to wear them. They weren't fancy but they weren't quite shabby either. His boots were mid calf black leather and well polished. A nice pair of soft, grey breetches. A soft, grey shirt that flared slightly at the wrists. A fairly nice vest just a slightly darker ebon than his boots, and embroidered with silver thread. The thread work was his mothers and was quite good. He wished he still had his hat. It would have went well with this outfit, but his family insisted he leave it at home. He strapped a wrist sheath on each arm. Each held two small throwing daggers. He tucked a dirk into his left boot, and then tied his hair back in a half ponytail. A few of the white hairs hung down over his eye, but it seemed to be a nice effect. He left his room and headed toward the Red Dragon.

When he arrived it was just as lively as the last time he had been here. However this time he was fully exposed. No hood, no scarf, and no gloves. He felt a bit self concious and nervous. No one seemed to notice him much. He scanned the large open room looking for his classmates. At first it was hard to tell much of anything. Then his senses kicked in and started picking out hte details. The dice game, the card games, someone playing darts, the smells from the kitchen. The more inviting smell of the bar. He finally caught sight of his classmates and started making his way toward their table.

As he was approaching, he noticed that their combat instructor was seated at the table with them. They seemed to be in a conversation and he didn't want to interrupt, besides the bar was calling him. He ambled his way to the bar. He was hoping for a good Dwarven Ale, but knew he didn't have enough so he settled for a whiskey sour. While he was there he ordered some food and asked for it to be delivered to the table.

He had to take a circuitous route back in the direction of his classmates and as he was doing so, he spotted a lone figure at a table in the corner. It was Professor O'leary and she looked as though she may have been there a while. Her posture reminded him of James Beaming, a local drunk back home. Ole James didn't hold a candle to the Professor though. Even in her current state Kiirnon thought she looked radiant. Despite the fact that she didn't look like she wanted to be bothered, as he passed by the table he raised his glass in a mock toast. "Evening Professor"

Kiirnon wasn't quite sure if she had even heard him and he kept walking. He finally made it to the table with his classmates. It seems a chair was left open. "Sorry I'm a bit late, may I still join you?"

Airion looked toward the man on the throne, when he mentioned a letter in his pack. things seems to be leading us down a road we have no choice but to follow He caught a glimpse of something and filed it away in his memory. Airion turned toward the human. "I suppose that I will need to accompany you on your errand."

Airion walked behind Elemmiire as they moved toward the door.

First: let me say we all luv ya Meri. We understand RL tends to take precedence. take your time.

Second: welcome back Ion. Glad to see ya again. can you hook me up with a yummy drink?

Third: Hail to the FUF!

Ok so now back to the game.....

I posted the last part of my post the way I did because we arrived at the forest in the early morning and I am hoping it didn't take us all day to finish that fight. If I am wrong, slap me with a lawsuit and I'll fix it.

Finally what would be the point of us having perfect characters? They would be so boring.

Subject: here we go again

Kiirnon was about to exit the woods and see if he could assist with the merchant when the new instructor "arrived".

So he stopped and listened to the critique. He was used to some pretty harsh criticisms from his mentor. So this went over quite well with him. He listened to everything and tried to interpret it in his own way. Before he could ask questions the instructor was gone.

Then the guy with the tap shoes showed up. He had some notes and criticism as well. Most of it well founded with a few points that were kind of out there. Then the argument started. Kiirnon didn't like arguing. Most of the time it was pointless and it was much easier to end an argument with a sharp blade to someone's lung. Of course that wasn't permitted here at the school. Wanting to end the argument quickly Kiirnon spoke up.

"Hey, I'm not saying this was perfect, but I think we did fairly well. I can't say anything about an improvement over the first training session since I wasn't here."

Kiirnon turned toward Darkon "I don't think that our senior here meant to cause discontent. He was just trying to say we would still have your skills if you were the leader or not."

Kiirnon stopped a moment to lower his hood and remove his scarf. He then turned toward Ion. "Forgive me if I mis-step my bounds, but what you said to Zeph was a bit rude. None of us know his relationship with Sintan, and how they fight together. Perhaps their tactics could be better, but let us get to know them better before we provide criticism."

Kiirnon realized at some point he had taken out one of his knives and was twirling it around his fingers. He quickly sheathed it and continued on. "As for me, I am surprised at my bow skills today. I am much better with knives and swords. I usually only use my bow for hunting food or for assistance in accessing inaccessible areas. I was prepared to bring my blades to bear against the two creatures coming in my direction. However, it looked like they were still trying to pinpoint me and I had moved further along the tree line away from them."

Kiirnon looked around wondering where the instructor had disappeared to or if he was ever really there to begin with.

"As for leadership. I can't say which of us would be better suited for the role. Perhaps we should alternate for now until we feel comfortable. However I personally have no experience. I usually work alone, and when I did have a partner it was my mentor teaching me skills I would need." He turned around looking toward the goblin and wolf pair. "As for Zeph, it seems he and Sintan are loners as well. As for their leadership experience, I would care to guess not much. I may be wrong though." He turned toward the elf. "Darkon, as for you I have no clue to your experience or intentions."

"The bottom line is we need experience and training. None of us are used to this. It would help us to have someone in charge for a bit that we could observe and learn from. Good leadership requires mentorship. It would be better for our morale and comraderie. It would also help us to learn each others strengths and weaknesses, and show us how we can mesh together to form a better tam and who would be best suited as our leader."

(OOC: I'm going to post this next bit as I see fit to continue, but if anyone disagrees let me know. my reasoning is in the Q&A)

Kiirnon thought about Ion's invitation to dinner and it struck him as a bit odd. "Not to be rude but dinner is still a long way off and I know I have some classes to attend between now and then. I'd rather not get on Professor O'leary's bad side. If the invitation still stands though, I will meet you at the Red Dragon this evening."

With that Kiirnon pulled his hood back up and started slowly heading back toward the school.

I am kind of disappointed. I was really looking forward to this game as well. However with Tus gone we have no direction. I guess I'm a bit more disappointed because the last few games I've tried to get in have flopped. I guess that's just the way it goes.

Subject: pleading for my life

Airion relaxes a bit as he is being herded toward the human and his elven counterpart. Grateful to finally be able to get back to the surface. He and Elemmiire got the information they were looking for. However vague it may be. He wanted more answers, but his time was running out. One last question popped into Airion's head, but before he could voice it the elf spoke up.

"You lie still, you obfuscate the truth. I followed one set of tracks, but only one set left the area after killing the guard that led Jocelyn away. One person ascend to travel along the arboreal highway. I will pay you. How about with the blood of your guards and then finally with yours."

What is she doing? Does she plan on getting us all killed?

Airion couldn't belive what he had just heard. Did this fool elf really belive she could take on all twelve guards and their leader. He recalled rumors he had heard on the whispers of the wind. could this be that man? I must stop this

"Wait!" Airion turned toward the man on the throne. "I don't know about how much this elf values her life, but I value mine. I have the information I need and intend to return to House I'sorin with it. I am not looking for a fight nor will I raise my blade to you or your men. I do not wish to die today."

Airion turns back toward the elf and human. "Listen carefully to me. This foolish act would doom us all. Do you honestly expect that you can defeat all twelve of his well trained guards and him. I don't. I have heard rumors, and if this man is the one from those rumors...." Airion's voice trails of for a moment. "He himself could kill us before we take our next breath."

He looks toward his partner Ele and then back toward the other two. He only chance now is to try to talk the elf out of this before she gets them all killed.

"If you truly wish to help this young girl, how will getting killed accomplish that goal. The best way to help her now is to tell her father the situation. If you get killed no one will be able to relay the terms of her release and she will be stuck here. Perhaps my companion and I can help in some way, after we deliver our information to House I'sorin. We all have to get out of here alive first, and we can't do that if you decide to pick a fight you can't win."

Airion looks at Ele and removes the manacles from her wrist, hoping that she is in agreement with him. He then looks back to the other two waiting for a response and praying to Elarii for the best.

Subject: the confusion sets in

could this be the mastermind behind the raids? Who are these other two? Where are we? What is real?

Several questions and conclusions flit through Airion's head as he enters the room and listens to the conversation. At first he just tries to follow the confusion. It seems as thought the man in the center of the room is trying to lay blame on both his investigation party and these "mercenaries" across the room. Airion's head is pounding, which doesn't much help the situation either.

"First of all, I had nothing to do with the raid on their caravan. My companion and I were part of an investigation team looking into the raids on the caravans. We are the only two survivors of that team, and watched our companions brutally slaughtered. We were captured and I have been tortured since."

Airion looked around the room taking measure of how many guards there were. He was in no condition to fight anyone, but he wasn't sure there was a way around it.

"I don't know how long I have been here. Time has pretty much slipped away. I do know I didn't raid any caravan and my empire sent us to discover who was."

Airion looked over toward the two on the other side of the room. He took measure of them and tried to determine their intentions. He couldn't believe the man in the center of the room. He had too many doubts.

"Do you really expect me to believe that these people came after this girl if they were paid to let the caravan get raided? Of course some of the things you say could make sense. However perhaps I should hold them suspect for something since you seem to know the cleric's name. Then again you could just have a very reliable and extensive spy network. What house to you hail from? I see no house insignia on you our your soldiers. I wish to know with whom I may be speaking."

Airion knew he had to work through the lies and deception.

"As for you outsiders, you don't have to trust me. I know this all may seem strange and confusing. I know it does to me. I do know that none of us can trust this man though."

He worked his way quietly to get a better shot at the creature that Sintan had injured. He fired another arrow toward the creature as Darkon burst out of the tree line and made a run for the creatures surronding Sintan. Close by he could here Levanna casting a spell. I hope whatever she is casting will help us

Kiirnon knew they were out numbered but wasn't ready to join in the physical fight yet. He had to injure or take out as many as he could before they noticed him.

Topic: Last wish of a Dragon
Subject: A vision in the night

A lone elf sat meditating, nearly nude, in the middle of an ancient grove. Beside him lay a wolf of extrodinary beauty. It's fur a light tan with darker auburn highlights. The elf himself was beautiful as well. The moonlight shining into the grove seemed to be absorbed by his deep tan. His hair hung loosely down his back and was the same color as the wolf's. His body was lean but muscular. His breathing was slow and steady and small beads of sweat were sliding along his skin.

~~~
He was trying to clear his mind. To escape from the events of the day. Something was pushing just at the edge of his mind. He tried to keep it at bay, but it was too strong. Finally he let down his walls. The vision came flooding in...A dragon, stones, a small gnome, a journey, a yearning to follow. Then it was over....
~~~
The elf came out of his meditation and slowly opened his eyes at the same time as the wolf. The moonlight reflected from the elf's eyes showing their deep emerald color. The wolf turned to look at her friend as he spoke to her. "I do believe we may be needed somewhere my love."
With that the elf stood and started walking to the edge of the grove. The wolf stood, stretched and followed slowly behind. Before exiting the grove the elf turned and spoke something in the druidic language. Upon exiting the grove the elf stooped to pick up a pack, leather armor, and a quarter staff. The wolf picked up a harness in her mouth with sheathed blades.

The elf pulled a shirt, boots, and cloak out of his pack. After pulling on the boots, he stood and slid the loose shirt over his head and donned his blood dappled armor. "Looks like I got carried away today. We'll have to find a stream on the way so we can clean up a bit." The elf then gently took the harness from the wolf and placed it over his shoulder and around his waist. The way it was set up placed a scimitar on his left hip and a sickle along his side just below his right arm. He closed the pack and placed it on his back. "Well, time to see what kind of trouble we can get into."

He tossed a piece of dried salmon to the wolf and ate a piece himself as he began to walk through the forest.

Kiirnon looked into the clearing not sure what he was seeing. He had never seen creatures such as these. Something had gotten the attention of two of the creatures and he saw them moving of toward the tree line. In his heart he knew it had to be either Sintan or Zeph. He couldn't be sure which though.

In his mind Kiirnon knew that they had to help this man and they had to help him quickly. He needed the attentions of a healer. He wasn't quite sure how to get to him without taking out all of these strange creatures first. This was going to be tough.

Kiirnon turned to Levanna and in a low whisper spoke to her. "See if you can pick off some of those creatures with spells. Make sure to stick to the shadows of the trees and stay hidden for as long as possible."

He turned to Darkon and gave him a bit of a curious look. Still in a whisper he spoke "I'm going to stay in the trees and try to take them out until I am spotted. Hopefully, I have some time. I guess you should be ready to join the fight if things go ugly."

With that he draws back his bowstring and gets a sight on the closest of the creatures approaching the tree line and likely one of his companions. He lets fly and watches for the results. He knows his next actions will be based on the results of this one.

(sticking to the shadows of the trees for cover, and using the element of surprise for as long as he possibly can)

Kiirnon was getting a bit anxious. Having been out here for so long and no one to tell them why. He was about to head back into the school to find someone, anyone who knew why they were here. Then he heard, no the whole group heard the sounds coming from the woods. Kiirnon couldn't quite make out everything, and it seemed as though everyone else was struggling as well. It was hard to tell how far away it was too, but it was clear someone was asking for help.

Darkon had spoken up about how the group should proceed and it went along with what they had come up with last night. Kiirnon had just hoped that Zeph wouldn't be too upset by it.

"If this is a trap, let's try not to get caught," Kiirnon said as he nodded his head toward Darkon.

Darkon, Zeph, and Sintan took lead and began heading into the woods. Kiirnon dropped back and adjusted his quiver for easier access to his arrows. He pulled out an arrow and nocked it. Ready to draw if necessary.

Kiirnon followed far enough behind the lead team to not be seen, but so he could still see them. He moved slowly, carefully, and alert as possilbe. He made sure to keep himself between the lead and the halfling. He didn't want to have the wizard injured, but he was a bit weary too. He was sure he didn't want to be in the line of fire of a wizard.

i had been busy so hadn't gotten around to posting. So I was going to do the same thing you did Darkon. To me and to Kiirnon it doesn't seem like ayou bossed anyone around.

I just hope all goes well from here.
