Firstly: I'm ready and about to post, now I have the chance since this morning.

Secondly: I apologize to clockwork demise, whom contrary to what I said previously, knew exactly what he was doing.

Patience...He will arrive. But probably not within Freeside's walls yet. Too much insanity too soon, methinks. ^^'

Great, good to see it's all going well. However I'm going to delay my post slightly, either in a couple of hours or else later today, to give clockwork demise a chance to edit his post. He's familiar with the lore of the Fallout games, but I needed to remind him of the weaponry, specifically Pulse grenades.

EDIT: I should have noted this before now, in retrospect, but considering the universe this is set in, this adventure may include coarse language, violence, and it's somewhat hard to ignore the fact that prostitution is rife in the New Vegas area either so sexual references on top of that.

Sure thing, and thanks for the posting. I'll let your post affect your reputation (if you don't notice a change in the Title of your faction reputation, don't worry, I do also keep numerical values but I don't show them to keep things relatively simpler to read, also so I can change them rather more subtly).

I won't write up Julie's reply, and I'll assume - as my post from Olsen's POV stated - that Gus is now standing by the gate, having left the fort, so the current situation doesn't have to be changed, if that's okay.

Well, I've moved the game on regardless, sorry Jozan.

Hopefully that makeshift 'map' will show up on the forum fine. Anyway, that roughly details the current positions of characters. The key is here...

O= Olsen
G= Gus
G1= Follower Guard/Gate Guard
M= Markas
F= Freesider
| and _ = Walls
\ and - = Gates (one swinging open)

Ignore the dots (Fullstops), I just needed them to make the map show up rather than automatically cutting empty spaces.

Olsen Macdonald

From his viewpoint at the entrance, Olsen saw how much things had changed since both the NCR and Mr. House had withdrawn from Freeside entirely. Olsen's keen, trained eyes quickly took in as much as he could.

Besides the guards at the doors, there were at least twice the number on duty behind the sandbag encampments inside. Tents and other makeshift coverings covered much of the inner Fort, and doctors walked or ran between each, checking on various patients. Some of the patients could be seen from his angle, too, and it seemed that drug addicts were a minority unlike it had been previously. Instead, there were broken bones, amputated limbs, infections, fractures, gunshot wounds, burns... These were the injuries of violence.

Julie Farkas stood within the minute central courtyard, far smaller than it had ever been, handing out a small leather bag to the wastelander Olsen had briefly glimpsed entering the camp earlier. The wastelander nodded, replying to something Julie had said, before flashing a good-natured smile, and walking off towards the entrance, just passing Olsen on the way out. Even as he walked off, still Julie was in the middle of conversation, now exchanging words with the door guard from before. She sighed suddenly, motioning him to get back to his post before turning and walking away, towards the small watchtower to the rear of the Fort. She hadn't noticed Olsen's presence.

A shout broke Olsen's concentration in taking in the current status of the Fort. It came from outside the gate, still only meters away from him.

----------

Markas Jaden

As Markas waited, he eyed a group that approached the Fort slowly. 7 of them. Freesiders. Each carried some form of weapon - a sledgehammer, a short knife, a lead pipe... Markas wasn't sure what, but he caught a glimpse of dull metal being carried near the back of the tight-knit group, suspiciously looking like a firearm of some kind. The group spoke amongst themselves, with two nearest the front sporting scarred faces, obviously trying to hide the fact that his left hand was behind his back, reaching for - or grasping, his back-mounted sledgehammer. The Follower, the gate guard, noticed the group as well, and stepped away from the pack of confiscated weaponry, carefully reaching for the rifle on his back, shouting out a warning...to both the incoming group and the Fort itself, Markas suspected.

"Hey! If you're visiting someone, you can't bring weapons in and you'll be checked individually, sirs."

The scarred Freesider, seeming to act as a leader of sorts among the group, glared at the guard, still slowly approaching.

"We're not looking to visit, we're looking for my friend you keep from us. He just came in here for a leg injury weeks ago, and you've refused to let him out!"

Jozan1, even if it's just a short post, I need to see your character's reaction before this can continue, to accept the job or not.

Nice comic...Wait, that's ME!...right?

Awesome comic! Hah, now I know two people who draw comics including character's of mine. ^^'

I think I'll direct clockwork demise to this thread. He's drawn quite a number of comics and artwork himself, often based on D&D and similar adventures.

I fear I lack any creativity, at least artistically. I write a bit, but that's it.

Varis frowned, momentarily distracted by regret.

"Considering that the more we wait the stronger the revolution potentially gets, I'd normally recommend we split up to do more in a shorter time. But frankly, with recent occurrences I have no interest in seperating further and making more targets, since we must have made enemies. Without Thomas in particular."

Varis blinked, turning aside as he did his best to wipe some of the blood off the armor he refused to take off for once, imbuing his hand with a touch of magic to help the blood fall without clinging to anything.

"What of Thomas...?"

Crystal staggered, almost falling over. She'd lean on her staff is she had it on her, as it was, she simply took a step back, keeping a wary eye of the newcomer, and the reason for the new bloodstains across the room.

(It goes without saying, this post is completely out of character)

This game is going slowly, and with only two players. Excellent players, but two players regrdless. The game's started out slowly, and as a GM, I'm not doing very well to speed it up.

So, in order to free up time for myself to devote myself to the other games I play in, I am placing this game 'on hiatus', and i shall send a private message to each player when this is over, possibly anywhere from weeks to months from now, and if they are happy to continue, albeit with me making a couple more...inventive and active tweaks.

Thank you, Tuned_Out and Clockwork Demise.

(This post will be deleted when the game resumes)

Yes, that would more or less be my fault for my unexplained, unanticipated 6 day absense. Sorry everyone.

Regardless, I'm back and ready to get in. Your first test awaits once your done with the Fort, everyone.

Varis sighed, relieved of DHarem's recovery. His mind, finally, was returning to some level of clarity, and his physical state was nothing that a rest wouldn't fix, when they had the time. Well...besides some bruises from the fights today.

"Barbant is dead, but from what we've seen, it would be safest to assume that this Revolution has no shortage of resources. It's been proved that they are willing and able to hire Smythians, Assassins and Mercenaries, and beyond that the portion of guardsmen and soldiers in this city who would never accept a substantial bribe is, unfortunately, a minority. On the other hand..."

Varis did not move from his kneeling position, but swiveled his head to look at the councillor.

"Councillor, is there a safe place for you and the remaining councillors? We have several leads to follow, to those who may know of this revolution, and how to stop it before it grows further in strength."

It was true. As DHarem had mentioned beforehand, the attacking mage...'Khan', had called them to meet him. Then there was this 'Equilibriate' besides.

Crystal tried to control her panting. The force of the explosion had torn through her spell, and she didn't have the energy to retry another spell like that. Indeed, she had used up too much to actually stand up in combat for at least another half-hour, maybe far longer. Seeing Lantaris drop 'dead', she decided, for once, to follow his lead, though, falling to the ground amongst the bodies, regretfully letting her staff fall from her hand.

She could fake reactions when she needed, so hopefully this would work. Certainly assassins wouldn't have the time to check bodies, nor attempt to capture any defenders of the castle anyway...which is what they unintentionally have turned out to be.

Varis placed the spike on the ground beside him, holding his hand out, unwilling to leave the side of his friend. It sickened him to see DHarem so crippled by something so deadly, but he had hope that their antidote would be sufficient.

"Then pass me the next vial, please..."

Julie's smile was more sorrowful than anything else.

"Just been busy. Since the NCR moved out, the squatters of Freeside have needed us more than ever. And in the past few weeks, now we find Followers in our own infirmaries. We have a steady supply of caps now, though, but our medical supplies are running dangerously low. Stimpacks and Med-X we can create consistently enough, and Fixers are thankfully not our primary concern, but we don't have enough basic doctors equipment to deal with so many injuries."

Julie stopped for a moment, opening the clasp of a small bag hung around her waist. Reaching in, she brought out a folded piece of paper and handed it to Gus.

"We know exactly what we need, and in enough quantity. The Crimson Caravan Company is still operating, and would be able to procure the required supplies. Unfortunately, by our estimate, the 600 caps we can spare is rather under the margin of payment they'll be looking for, and we can't spare any Followers anyway. I thought I'd give you this opportunity, considering you have history in such business. If you're interested, of course. I'm not sure what reward we can spare for now, though, besides our thanks and whatever caps you may have left over from the transaction."

As Julie awaited Gus' reply, her attention was briefly diverted by a man whom approached her. Gus recognized him as the guard who'd confiscated his weaponry beforehand at the gate.

"Julie, there's a man outside. He's insisting to see-" The guard cut himself off, glancing at Gus standing beside them, "- you-know-who. He wanted this message given to him: Amicum obses conscienta est. Fratum Militum obses praeterium tempus est. Amicum in ostium maneat."

Julie frowned.

"You don't have to hide his name in front of Gus. He's no more NCR than we are, nor is it much of a secret. I'll speak to Arcade myself when I can." Julie replied, turning back to Gus.

The guard blinked, stunned speechless as Markas walked away to lean against the Fort's walls. Drawn back to attention at Olsen's words, he stood up straight, suddenly.

"You're a Follower? Sorry to say I only recently arrived at this Fort, and wouldn't know. But you bear the insignia, and know of our founder, so we welcome you, brother. Indeed, if you're offering it, we could use all the help we could get. Come in, brother."

The guard turned, talking to the second guard who still held the gate open.

"That 'remnant' is persistent. I'll pass on his message to Julie. Take over until I get back, and, obviously, don't let him through the gate."

The guard waved Olsen through as he lifted and moved a duffle bag that was just behind him at his feet, clearly filled with confiscated weaponry, giving it to the second guard.

"DHarem!" Varis cried, cursing himself for forgetting about him in the heat of what just happened. Running over, Varis frantically searched through DHarem's belongings, bringing out a labelled vial of each antidote. Stumbling slightly, Varis ran back over to his friend, handing him each of the antidotes to drink himself.

"Here. Don't worry, things will be fine. Drink those while I get this thing out of your leg. Come on..."

Varis moved lower, carefully arranging himself to see if he could grasp and pull out whatever projectile it was without harming DHarem further...

Markas Jaden

"Oh, trust me, he's available. And as for the NCR...if the sixty shots I carried were enough to stop them, then they wouldn't be around to agitate either of us."

"As for my reasons for seeing him...I've got something for him, from Navarro, don't worry, it's not a weapon, you took it already, remember? So, unless information is lethal you'll let me in."

Skill-Assisted Dialogue used: Speech (Coercion)
[22/??] = Failure.

The Follower looked at Markas. He wasn't angry, but it was clear he was thinking on what he'd said. Finally, he spoke. Dangerously quietly.

"He's busy. And you're hardly keeping yourself subtle, speaking out against the NCR yet knowing of Navarro. And on top of all that, you're looking for Arcade. Take your weapon and go, we're much too busy to deal with this."

He held the Plasma Defender out, meaning to hand it back to Markas. Carefully.

Yep, "Fatality!" makes that a possibility...sorta.

Er...thanks to the feat, an Unarmed critical MIGHT dismember something, but the real likelihood of dismemberment (and the greatest effectiveness of the feat outside of mere limb damage) comes when you start using weapons such as the Power Fist.

In other news, Grugg has (by a noticeble margin) the highest combat-based stat, over 50 even at level 1. However, he is in the unique position of having a score of 0 on certain skills. 0.o

My introduction of the Perfectionist trait almost broke the game.

Okay, the new thread has been created and the posts have been saved. Some may be used for new characters later, Faction information, a seperate section for "finished" quests, perhaps...

The blank spaces will find use eventually.

As for this thread, I've edited all of my posts besides this one (I can't see how they'll be any benefit to anyone else for now) to leave room for plenty of perks and other character level-up oppurtunities. All other users of this thread can delete their posts to clean this thread up somewhat, but I'm not going to force anyone to to do so. The official Questions and Answers will be the other thread, the "Fallout Adventure Q&A" (short name) as linked to the main game thread.
