Subject: No Kidneys? No Problem!

Zeran huffed as his attempt to bring the walking corpse down for easier slaying didn't work, maybe if he had aimed the blow to the warrior's neck region he would have had better success. Not wanting to chance it again and seeing his opening gone as The Wight did the smart thing and put his back to he wall Zeran decided to rely on Ol' Faithful as some might call it.

"I'm going to have to request you stop sucking the souls of my friends here." He says as if speaking to an old friend. Bringing his gun to aim he takes just a moment to try and ensure his bullet will strike a vital part of the living dead before him. He fires praying for the best.

Subject: IT'S A SPOOKY GGHHHHHOOOOSSSTTT!!!!

As the day progressed and it started to get dark not much investigative progress had been made, but Carlyle did manage to get some work done on a little bit of alchemy for his own purposes. It was sometime in the evening after they had ate that he had to use the washroom as most living things needed to, well humans at least.

His business didn't take long just a quick drain of the ol' bladder and he was washing his hands and face, trying to keep himself awake for a little longer but he knew tonight would be an early one for him. As he looked up into the mirror something caught his eye over his shoulder.

There standing behind him was a dwarf, the poor man looked like he had been through hell and back. He was about to ask the dwarf what he was doing when the man reached out. Sudden panic and fear filled him, thankfully his pants were done up.

Carlyle bolted from the privy with the speed of a practiced athlete, mostly given his long legs. Skidding to a halt in the room and getting odd looks from the rest of the people he stopped dead. It took him a moment to process what had happened, and when he was asked the usual 'are you okay?' he had a quick response.

"Yes I am. But just a moment ago, what I now believe to be the ghost of a dead male dwarf just sent a supernatural fear and panic into the back of my brain." He stated this calmly, matter of fact even. "Given my height, and the height of the wash basin there is no possible way the dwarf could have been seen over my shoulder, without the aid of a stool or floating. He, didn't look very good either, kind of pale grey, disheveled beard and hair and gaunt eyes. As well I didn't even hear him enter. I do believe we're being haunted slightly."

The entire time explaining this he was stroking his chin, committing every detail he could remember to memory.

Subject: Brokering Forged Friendships?

The page Carlyle had been scribbling on was now nothing more then a mass of messy writing and innumerable corrections, he had a nasty habit of coming up with appropriate numbers but in the end his brain always rushed ahead changing one thing then another. So now here he was, everything out of order as usual and about to try and ask something big of the local smith, especially from a stranger. He was pleased to see she was a dwarf, he liked dwarves for dealing with. Shrewd but most wouldn't cheat him in business so he relaxed some.

He speaks as he crumples the paper he was holding and stuffs it away, no point in it now. "My apologies Ma'am, I'm just here to conduct some business nothing to strenuous I assure you." He pulls Bethany off his back and presents the weapon to the woman as he continues. "I'm working to improve Bethany here. As such I require scrap metal and time with a forge. Since your's is the closest I'd like to requisition it." He places Bethany on a bench so the woman can inspect it should she choose.

In his usual rapid manner he forgets to give her time to interject before he continues. "I've no intention to ask for free use that would be absurd. The parts I need are custom all I need is time with the forge so I can fashion them. I'm more then willing to lend my services to you in exchange. I'm handy enough and have confidence in my skill. I can help fill orders and work during your free time so the flow of business is not interrupted."

Carlyle would have gone on but at this point he noticed the woman had her arms folded and was giving him one of those 'take a breath' looks he got when he was rambling. Shushing up for the moment he let her speak finally. "You speak to fast." She said as she moved over examining his weapon, giving it a good look over.

"You did the forge work on this yourself?" She asked him taking a closer look at his work and giving a short nod of approval. "Yes." Carlyle responds cutting himself off and keeping his ego in check, something he did sometimes have trouble with. "And you can make chain and nails without supervision?" The smith asked putting Bethany back down and turning to face him, her hands planted on her hips.

"Yes." Carlyle said without missing a beat as he keeps his attention focused on the woman now. "If you are half as clumsy as my last apprentice was, I will flay you alive and have your hide made into a new pair of boots." She took off her apron and hung it on a rack. "Most days I finish forge work by three. If I am not busy, I will let you use the forge until I go home, and in exchange you can make me fifty nails. The forge is closed on Sundays and I usually work late Oathdays. These terms sound fair?" She asked raising one eyebrow slightly and offering her hand to him.

Carlyle took the woman's hand and gave it a firm shake thus bonding the verbal contract. "I accept, my name is Carlyle Sainthro if you please." He says letting her hand go. "Jorfa." The woman responds as she takes another look at Bethany. Carlyle found it odd she didn't add her clan name. But he wouldn't ask yet it seemed a more personal matter so he would wait until they were more familiar with one another.

"Oh! Do you know a carpenter by any chance?" Carlyle asks, suddenly remembering something else he needed, focused for a moment again he fumbled around in his pocket before producing a very neatly very well kept piece of folded paper. Opening it up he laid it out, the schematics for Bethany. He pointed to a few key points between the final design he had here, and his current model. "As you can see it requires some wood working. If you could point me in a direction to find someone to assist with this I'd be most appreciative, more so then I already am." He says enthusiastically, feeling quite high spirited right now.

Subject: Books!

Carlyle listened patiently to the last will of his former professor with solemn silence. He perked a bit at the mention of books filing away what he wanted to do with them into the back of his mind for the time being.

When all was said and done and they had taken a moment to process the information he nodded. When the chest was opened and each book was looked at, after giving Kendra a nod as she excused herself, Carlyle grinned a bit. "Oh I recognize some of these. I've never been privy to the information within sadly, but." He picks up the purple tome running a finger over the scarab. "As the professor said, knowledge of the enemy will aid us."

Intrigued by the purple tome, but unable to work past the lock...for now...he picks up the religious text of Urgathoa.
"This may offer some insights, even if miniscule. I've got some things to take care of. But I'll skim it later." He looks at Meryle and Lavender and smiled. "I promise to stop reading if it becomes to obscene." He says and sets the tome back with the rest for now.

Agreeing with the dinner plans and after Kendra has left Carlyle stands up and stretches. He rummages in his own bag and produces a few sheets of paper with hardly any writing on them, it looked like an order manifest of some kind. "Now I've got my own errands to run!" He says with a bright smile, work, something he could always get behind! He was off with a light skip heading for the forge.

Carlyle grumbled and shook his sword after the thug who ran away before sheathing it and dusting himself off. "Why I've never-" He was cut off by the priest and went silent immediately. He stood at attention and watched as the farmers dispersed.

Once things were settled and the sermon finished it was his turn to speak. The odd little girl and fox spoke first and he waited to go after. Clearing his throat he furrowed his brow and smoothed his hair back even though he had no need to.

"Professor Lorrimor was a brilliant man, I had the honor of meeting with him and attending his lectures and lessons. It's been a long time since I have met a person with as vast knowledge and spirit as him and the world will dearly miss him. He was a mentor of sorts to me, helped me on the path I'm on and helped nurture my curiosity into the occult, history and other realms of education. Had it not been for him I would have just been another dreamer or farmer or something else." He wiped his eye and sighed but smiled. "My time learning from him, working with him and even a bit of travel, are some of my fondest memories." He bowed his head in respect and waited for the next speaker.

Subject: Cults, Trolls, what's next an owlbearcentaur?

Zeran sat at the table sneaking a couple of almonds for himself as he looked at the large [very amazing work of art] crappy note the trolls had left them. "They can write? I'm, impressed." He says shaking his head a bit. "See this is what bothers me. Living out here on my own yeah I never had to deal with creatures like these. But they can read- maybe -write at the very least!" He laughed a bit as he munched one of his two almonds between his teeth. "If they weren't so bloody aggressive we could have probably been...okay?....neighbors."

Shrugging his shoulders a bit he looked at the rest of the party. "We did TRY to say hello and the two we killed just outright tried to slap us." Looking back at the note he cocks an eyebrow slightly and sighs. "So now we not only have a bloody cult to root out. But apparently a troll queen, queen of green...Heh I like that..anyways. Queen of green to deal with." Looking back to the occupants of the room he thinks for a moment. "Maybe...we should pay them this time? Just to buy us some time so they don't go slaughtering townsfolk or other people, then after we deal with this cult we can go...maybe root THEM out? Hell I don't know, but I know we can't divide our manpower or leave while this cult is in the area."

Second almond now the former river pirate snaps his fingers for a second. "Speaking of cults! I have a plan! On that doesn't involve inquisition." Swallowing his final snack he smiles a bit. "Disguise. We're obviously to well known to get into the cult, but what if we disguised ourselves or someone we trust or could convince, get some inside information on the cult." He holds his hands up to stop any argument for the moment. "Now, I know it's risky and might not work. But consider it as an option, we can't just go strong arming everyone. It'll play right into the cult's hands I'm sure." His hands go down and he looks at Jhod now.

"Jhod, don't get frazzled. Please. You're a beacon to the good people of this town who follow you. If you start to show signs of paranoia and suspicion it'll only make things worse." Zeran's face grows serious for a moment. "Even if you have to fake it. Keep up a strong front and show these cultists that you won't waver and believe that everyone here is a good person and belongs. Give them NO ground to exert any more influence then they already have. You'll be as integral to our efforts in this way as we will be trying to find the roots and dig them out."

Zeran flashed Kyrie a small 'did I say that right?' look after he finished, even going so far as to take the older make's hands and give them a reassuring squeeze. "Besides. If you learn anything from people seeking temple services, you showing strength could sway them off this cult's path, and maybe provide us with some leverage we need. All it takes, is one member to turn back to the good to give us information we could use."

Settling back into his chair Zeran regarded the note again with a mixture of amazement, and disgust. He went to grab an almond, only to realize he had none left from his pilfering, simply shrugging and taking a drink of his water.

"See, we told you it was this way!" One of the gendrome barked at the deviljho.

Another piped up, "Too slow, Kevin looks like he got mauled."

"By those? He got killed by a runt? And some weird thing? What is that anyway?"

All day it had been this way with these runts, forced to work with something she would consider dinner or nothing more then a slight bug underfoot. "Excuse me?" Her voice growled out like the deep heat of a furnace kicking to life. It was deep and gravely, but still had a definite feminine tone to it. "DO NOT think for a moment that you can speak to me as such you little whelp. You're only saving grace is that I have to follow you for now." Her voice was heard before she was seen.

Crashing through the undergrowth, which to her was a few small trees and even a few medium ones, the Deviljho came into view. Towering at a generous 8'06" which due to her hunch came in at eye level 6'06" she was an impressive if not terrifying sight. The deviljho was frowning looking outright pissed by this point in time. She was young lacking the obvious scars most elder jhos had when they reached adult hood, but the most definitive scar she had was a double claw mark across her face. The wound looked fresher then her other scars and a couple of her jaw spikes looked a little crooked. Her piercing yellow eyes scanned the scene in front of her as she settled onto her muscular legs. Stretching a bit her shoulder creaked like old timbers as she flexed her hands and talons seemingly getting ready for a fight.

She paused though when she saw their marks. She cared nothing for the dead Barioth, a slight rumble in her stomach was a clear sign how she felt about the fallen monster. "...furthermore young lady, you should do well to respect your betters, showing so little is how you got into this mess!" The words finally hit her, one of the yappers had been talking DOWN to her. Turning her torso a bit, which caused the large muscular mass of a tail behind her to swing some and take out another tree, she faced the littler monster. "Did you just?...You can't be that stupid." She growled before glancing back at Izzy and Kara.

"They're the ones we're after, just hurry up and do the deed 'princess!'" Another one of the yappers, the larger alpha this time, shouted at her trying to give her orders. The Jho snapped at him her teeth crunching the air before she growled her left foot stamping a print into the ground. "You think I'd enjoy fighting them? They are clearly worn out from combat, it wouldn't be a fair fight. I doubt even YOU could take them in this state, you needed me after all." She growled again and her eyes shifted to look at the human and Nargacuga. "Maybe THEY can actually help, my father is clearly deranged or bewitched. No Deviljho would listen to a flying bird and take such rash advice!" Her breathing had grown heavier now.

The Genprey and Gendrome all started to chatter among themselves before the other alpha spoke up. "We knew you were weak! Come on we don't need her we'll take all the credit and she can continue to live in exile like the idiot she is!" The group turned and started to advance on the injured pair. They however, did not expect or think the Deviljho would interfer given her circumstances. They were wrong.

The Deviljho let out a tremendous roar, and her muscles bulged. Her chest, arms and legs becoming more defined and red scars glowed all along her frame from her body heat. The area went from cold to tropical in an instant, the only trace of the barioth was the slush and corpse. "ENOUGH! NOW YOU DIE AND I FEED!" She was fast for something so big and heavy, lumbering she used her bulk to crush the first Genprey into the ground. The bodycheck turned into a roll, cementing the unfortunate pack monster into the ground, it's leg twitching a bit. In the same motion the Deviljho was back on her feet, red sparks flying from her mouth as she crouched and then pounced landing on one of the Alphas.

She didn't even give it time to beg before she started eating it, head first she tore the Gendrome apart devouring it like it was a snack. As soon as she finished she turned her hunched form and snapped at one of the genprey causing it to yelp as it's tail disappeared into her hungry maw. By this point the remaining Gendrome and the few genprey had decided discretion was better and started to flee the area. They scattered and didn't look back, not even slowing to help the slackers, a few of which ended up as food for the angry brute behind them.

Once the dust settled the Deviljho's color returned to the standard dark dirty green and her scars visiblity faded. She was salivating though, her acidic drool hissing as it hit the ground. Breathing heavily she shook her head and turned to face the Nargacuga and, what she assumed was a hairless Felyne. Her eyes darted between the pair and the dead barioth. "...you gunna eat that?" She asked, an almost hunger crazed look in her eyes.

Subject: Why. Why does this always happen?

Zeran sighed after the kobold delivered the news. His shoulder slumped and his hat went crooked as he rubbed at his forehead. "Why is it every time we leave some other shmuck decides to try and crop up and start something." He muttered a few curses under his breath before giving the guardsman and kobold a nod. His eyes glanced back towards the party. "Any suggestions? Because to be honest I'm going to scream if you all suggest we find and put these cultists on trial." It sounded like a joke but something in the man's eyes said he was serious.

His attention turned back to the guard and he nodded his head. "Welcome aboard. I'm Zeran, resident shoot man." He thumbed over his shoulder to the rest of the party. "They are a courteous bunch and can introduce themselves. Let me know when we start discussing courses of action. For now." Without any hesitation Zeran went to the nearest wall and started to very gently headbutt muttering 'why' under his breath repeatedly.

Zeran was leaning against one of the walls as he listened to the old woman and Kyrie talking. He looked thoughtful for a moment before cocking his jaw and piping in. "You're right. Well I believe so at least ma'am. Been here a while myself to, and well yeah anything bigger then something like this tends to get swallowed up...and." He looked distant for a moment before turning to the rest of the group. "That fat peacock who tried to uproot us. He was working for what he said, someone, to try and bring us down." He tapped his chin a bit and hmphed. "We can only assume he was working for one of our competitors or some such. But, hell I don't know. Given the strange things I've seen with this group. Maybe he was working for some forest guardian or whatever instead. Only time can tell." He went quiet after that, going back to being polite and observant, his piece for now had been said.

The Night Before

Alexis lay where she had chosen to sleep, downstairs with the furniture shuffled slightly to give her enough space to rest. She had stripped down all the way with her gear laying nearby just in case. Staring at the ceiling she looked thoughtful as she let her mind wander, forming a few different plans when they did get to the village, and trying to ignore the aching in her ribs from the blow she had taken. Eventually rest did come to her.

Breakfast!

As usual she was up early, dressed and ready to go before most others would be awake or ready to go. She put the furniture back and hummed to herself as she did busy work just for the sake of it.

She was silent during the morning simply listening to the others talk and muse, nodding her head in agreement. After she was done she helped tidy up before meeting her comrades outside.

At breakfast, Walthus handed Alexis a small vile of liquid. "This is for you. I found it last night after supper. Drink." Alexis took the potion and drank it. (+7hp Alexis 9/11)

"Oh yeah! One last thing before you go." Walthus took the cloak off his back and held it up to the adventurers, "feel free to come back anytime to rest up."

Alexis smiled warmly at their host after drinking the potion. "Thank you Walthus." She was cut short at his second offer. Looking baffled she took the cloak and donned it before smiling again. "I'm speechless, all I can say is thank you. I'll make good use of it, you stay safe."

Dead Goblin.

Alexis paid the dead goblin little mind, simply nodding when Zwei took the corpse's ears. She was a bit concerned by the state of it and the mysterious tracks. But as usual, she just thought 'If I can hit it, I can kill it.'

The Village

Something didn't sit right in Alexis's stomach, the state of the gate, the quietness, the lack of really anything had her on edge. "I really, don't like this." At the notion of Fox and Zwei sneaking in to survey she frowned. "Fine, but if you see ANYTHING unusual report back immediately. Whatever caused." She motioned to the gate and then back the way they came from the goblin body. "Those, could be related. Goblins are noisy and stupid, the fact that we aren't hearing noise worries me."

She motioned to the smoke from the fire before looking at the two sneakier types. "Be very careful, please. That smoke says signs of life or something else. Just don't do anything rash."

hearing Nona's suggestions about being close she nodded. "We'll give you time to slip in then creep up closer to the gate ourselves, you run into trouble give a shout and we'll come help." She did have confidence in Fox and Zwei sneaking in, but she also didn't like her gut feeling.

burying the monster

Alexis didn't question the lights Fox conjured out of nowhere, she knew anyone could learn magic with enough practice and such and she didn't know much about Fox besides what she had seen on the surface. As she dug in silence and got the corpse into the grave she looked a little somber before shaking herself out of it and sighing. She smirked at Fox's words slightly, waiting for the girl to turn her back before muttering under her own breath. "My job is to keep you all safe not the other way around. Heh, appreciate it though." She was hoping Fox hadn't heard her wanting to keep her thoughts out loud to herself.

Dinner Time

Alexis listened to Zwei, accepting the 'handshake' as well without a word, before she looked down and took a bite of her food. "Sounds good to me, thank you for your help with that monster." Her voice was a bit stiff but that was more from the pain in her side then anything, the clenched teeth and wince gave that away easy enough.

She glanced at Zwei and raised an eyebrow slightly at his scars. She paused for a second about to ask then decided against it as she continued to eat. It wasn't her place to question a man on his wounds.

Zeran knew the freedoms of the river kingdom well enough and before Grigori was led off he put a hand on the guard's shoulder to stop him for a moment. With a look of contempt and pity he leveled his eyes with the man in manacles. "You are correct. Say what you will, I live free. There is a difference between having words that people will listen to, you claim time and time again to be their voice."

Zeran's tone changed from the relaxed one he had prior. His face darkened a bit, something like a father looking down at a misbehaving boy. "But you use magic to MAKE people listen to what you have to say, you force them to pay attention, you're words are hollow your speeches are fake and after today you'll be lucky if they even give you the time of damn. People don't like it when their heads are messed with."

He looked to the guard for a moment. "One more moment, my apologies." With his attention back to Grigori he sighed a bit and frowned. "For someone who claims to be their voice, your tactics are dirty and underhanded. Shame on you, maybe get some better words and try again without the aid of your magic." With that he nodded to the guard and headed back to Kyrie clapping a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Good on you for calling him out. We have him in custody now, we'll do what we can to ensure he doesn't hurt our friends and their family anymore." He gives her a smile and turns to the fading crowd giving a small nod. "We gotta do right by these people."

Zeran had been leaning up against a wall while the conversation with Jhod went on letting the gears in his mind turn trying to sort out a plan. He waited until Jhod had departed before speaking up. "Think the Lord will help us? But besides that, we have the immediate problem of Grigori or Griggles as I've taken to calling him in my head." He looked between his companions giving Miguel a bit of a weird glance. "That curse really throws me for a loop when I look at you." He comments with a chuckle trying to keep light since they had a possible solution.

The gunslinger sighed a bit and shook his head. "I'm wracking my brain, but all I can come up with is executing the fat man, if any of you object, or have a better plan I'm all ears. But I'd rather we deal with him as soon as possible before he causes anymore ruckus." Zeran grumbled a bit after and shook his head keeping his body language and facial expression open to the rest of his friends.

Alexis took Walthus's shoulder and helped the weakened warden down the stairs just catching the tale end of what Nona said. "Don't bother I got it you guys just help Walthus, speaking of." She looks to the halfing as she helps him into a seat. "Could you grab clean water and the rags for me? Or at least have one of these two do it." She motions to Zwei and Nona. "If they will get it that is." She chuckled a bit, trying to keep the mood light heading over to Fox. "Here I'll need your help Fox come with me." She makes a motion with her head to the door, grabbing the creature's body as she drags it outside with a grunt.

Once outside she locates the wood cutting stump and axe, placing the creature so its neck rests on the stump. "Find a spade, dig a hole for this abomination I don't want it stinking up Walthus's house and attracting more attention for him." She hefts the ax above her head a look of determination on her face as she steadies herself and takes aim. "Back to whatever pit spawned you monster, this will make sure you don't come back for good." She swings the ax down and with a solid, if squishy, thunk, removes the monster's head.

Presuming Fox helps Alexis

Alexis pushes the monster's body into the hole then picks up it's head looking to the swamp. "No chances." She winds up and hurls the creature's head into the swamp not caring where it lands. She lets out a sigh after and cups her side and looks at her hand and frowns. "Well at least it isn't bleeding anymore, but f**k that blow he gave me hurt." She grimaces feeling her ribs, yup one was damaged. Alexis sighed again and headed back inside waiting for Fox to follow. "Thanks Fox, I appreciate the help."

If Fox doesn't help, Alexis simply tosses the head away and drags the body a short distance from the house so it doesn't cause to much trouble.

Back inside Alexis takes the rag and the bucket of water and starts cleaning the mark where she got pierced by the tongue. "Looks more like a big mosquito bite then anything, but damn it all that was annoying. Hopefully this doesn't itch like a mosquito bite." She remarks as she takes a few bites of stew in between her work. After she has the mark cleaned she feels her rib again and frowns again. "He hit me a solid one, sorry guys." She turns her attention to Zwei and fixes her eyes on him.

"I'd like to apologize for snapping at you like I did earlier. I'm used to dealing with drunks and such with back up. This is my first actual adventure and I'm a little on edge, don't want to have to return with bad news. You seem to be more versed in the adventuring arts so please, I'll happily accept any advice you can give if you're willing to share. I'd rather we put aside our little dispute and work as a team. What do you say?" She holds out her hand, the one that hadn't been cleaning or tossing monster heads around, out to Zwei hoping he accepted her apology.

As soon as the rubbery monster had fallen over and stopped moving Alexis relaxed, but that proved to be a bad idea. She turned pale and quickly ran to the window clutching her side in one hand to stop the blood flow before leaning out the window and throwing up her lunch. "Oh by the gods..." She shook her head a bit and groaned as she pulled herself back into the house. "Well aren't you glad I'm here now? That thing could have killed one of you with how hard it hit me." She looked at her side and grimaced a bit. "Ug, give me a moment to tend to this after." She kept her hand on the wound and applied pressure so the blood flow would at least stop for the moment, she had other things to tend to.

Alexis made her way up the stairs following the sound of the voice calling back out. "Yes whatever 'he' was is dead, sorry about the mess I'll help clean up after I patch myself up. Walthus? The real Walthus? come on out, I'm Alexis Gunwalder with the Sandpoint militia you're safe now." Her voice carried authority, but it was mostly gone for the moment as she leaned against a wall. She felt sick that thing had drained a little more blood then she had thought, but she forced herself to keep a straight face.

Zeran was crouched down near the tied up bandit mostly ignoring her as he watched Froderick drag the monster they had just bested onto the shore to try and bargain with the wisp.

“Untie me or I'll take my knife and shove it so far up your arse you'll piss blood! I will not be taken prisoner!”

He cast a glance towards the woman and leaned in a bit making a 'psst' noise to her as he held up a knife he had pulled off her body. [Sleight of Hand roll: 23 [[14+9]] If required.]

"If you mean this knife lass I don't think you'll be sticking it anywhere anytime soon, and as it stands you already are prisoner and as soon as you realize that and that we saved your sorry ass you'll be in a much better position."

He turned facing her fully know and stabbed the knife he had taken from her into the ground hilt deep out of reach of her and near enough he could snatch it up if need be. He cleared his throat and narrowed his eyes fixing them on her.

"Now I suggest you shut up and stop making so much noise before we reopen your wounds and leave you here to die alone and a snack for our wisp buddy over there." He thumbed over his shoulder at the dwarf nodding to the speaking wisp knowing it wouldn't disappear to far if it was eating, that was for certain. [Intimidate roll: 31[[20+11]] [Purpose of roll: To get her to shut up for the moment until we can all group around and someone with better social skills other then 'bluff and intimidate' to get information from her, though Zeran is more then happy to step in for such things to [[He has a bonus to those when dealing with bandits as well]]]

Zeran took the opportunity after the combat was over and rushed to the bleeding bandit's side. "Well you know what, f**k it." He pointed his gun up and fired straight into the air, angling it a bit so the bullet wouldn't plummet straight down and kill someone. Taking the still hot barrel he pushed it against the open wound on the bandit and forced the wound close, it would leave a scar but it would be better then bleeding to death. "Kyrie you're a better hand at mending people then I am, check her over and see if she is going to live. Bleeding should have stopped enough by now." He said giving a grimace to his grim first aid.

Zeran grunted and stretched as he sat up wondering what the light was before he recognized it, only because it recognized them. "Oh hey long time no see, since the tornado if I recall." He greeted the wisp like a friend given this would be the third time they had seen it. He woke up at his pace and watched the bandits raid the 'camp' chuckling a bit.

"Best be staying by boy-o. Your magicks will be a bit useful to this group tonight. If you be needing to go anywhere, try to keep a distance that me old legs can keep up at eh? I will make sure no one disturbs your jimmer-jammering."

Zeran overheard Froderick and gave him a puzzled expression. "You aren't seriously thinking of going down there right now are you? Not only would we have the three bandits, one clearly gone insane, but the horse thing and possibly our good ol' wisp buddy." There was more then a hint of sarcasm at that last bit. "Why don't we just stay here, watch and wait for all we know the wisp might be satisfied with just those three and go away, and if he doesn't then we can deal with him. I'm not to keen running off like a lunatic to save three bandits down there."

5 Erastus

Zeran stared at the dead kobold taking his hat off and holding it over his chest in respect. "Here." He slipped from the wagon and helped cut the poor thing down gently laying it down. "We get him back to the soot scale when we can, but something tells me-" And at that moment the grigs came flying by shouting. Zeran was spinning this way and that trying to focus on them before they dispersed leaving him scratching his head. "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems we have a few bigger hornets about."

Thankfully nothing happened that night and they arrived at the fort easy enough.

6 Erastus

Zeran set the statue he had claimed beside the music box and dagger near his little area of their bunk house. "Wonder if I'll ever get a shelf." He mused, wondering to himself if Oleg had a couple spare boards and some nails around he could use to make one. He shook his head and laid down for a moment staring at the ceiling, thinking. "Hmm..." His thoughts in order the former river pirate stepped from the bunkhouse and headed over to see what everyone was up to.

He watched Froderick and Stefan for a short bit a small smile coming to his face before he moved on with his walk. "Stefan couldn't have picked a better person to squire under." He said quietly chuckling to himself, he had to admire that old dwarf he had proven to be a valuable ally, and a friend.

His next stop was Miguel, he kept his distance again just observing the man for a bit before nodding again. "Should learn to play the instrument he does, would give me something to do." Again it was just more quiet musings to himself, reflections on his friends and allies, his more then enough close encounters, bumps and bruises had him in a thoughtful mood.

Zeran watched Giles for a moment and scratched his chin a bit, he hadn't known Giles long enough to make much of him but he had to admire the man's combat training and prowess, was also good to have someone with more formal combat training in the group as well.

Lastly was Kyrie, he hadn't a clue where she was but he did find her soon enough. He didn't keep his distance though he stepped up to her and smiled tipping his head and hat a bit. "Kyrie, I've got to thank you." Zeran took his hat off and bowed standing upright again. "You've saved my ass more then a few times now in more ways then one. Thank you, I've no clue how I'll repay you for it but I will one day." He leaned in and pecked her cheek before moving on.

It only occured to him after he had gotten back to the bunkhouse what he had done. He thought on it for a moment, then shrugged and chuckled as he stretched out and sat up not wanting to sleep but also not wanting to be out in the sun for the moment.

[I can and will retcon my post, or add more RP post if people respond.]

Evening

Zeran glowered as he listened to the exchange giving his head a shake as he watched the bandits go off. "Can't wait to put a bullet in each of them, Stag Git especially." He growled a frown on his face. "We need to discuss a plan of attack or defense. I've a few ideas if someone doesn't suggest them first." He said keeping his eyes staring after the torches as he spoke to the group.

[See Skype discussion for suggestions. I won't add them all here again lol.]

"Firstly I would like to apologise your right I should have deferred to the wisdom of the group before firing my shot, you'll have to forgive the fact I'm used to working alone and in different circumstances, second I would hope a child raised as you were would have more respect for her elders and I didn't see you asking for my approval either before YOU MADE ENOUGH BLOODY NOISE TO WAKE THE DEAD"

Alexis was about to reply and apologize she had started to turn around before Zwei continued.

" I understand your armoured and are here to take the brunt of our fight should we face any but I would rather have to stay far away my hope was... no you wont listen to that you know what I think I think your have an inferiority complex and need to prove yourself a hero at every chance you get you build yourself up with armour and take on rolls most would consider male dominated-"

Was all Alexis heard from Zwei the rest fell on deaf ears. She let him finish talking and when his voice quieted she looked over her shoulder her face neutral and cold. "When we are done with this excursion should our paths cross it is strictly business nothing more now get a move on the sooner we finish this the sooner I can go back to my work and away from you lot." Her emotions had gotten the better of her. She unsheathed her sword to keep it at the ready as she forged on ahead, going slow enough they could keep up but fast enough she had a little distance between her and this man Nona had dragged along for gods know whatever reason.

Alexis readied herself to strike the snake if it decided to attack, since the thing seemed it wasn't going to go anywhere anytime soon. That was until she heard the eagle chirping and saw the snake leave, she nodded satisfied that it had departed. Turning on her heel she sheathed her sword and looked at the group frowning.

“I might conjecture the reason you joined has something to do with the bounty money, or possibly perhaps because you could not resist the invitation of three ravishing beauties—”

“Three?” Sera chirped. “Fox and I and who else?”

Alexis's frown remained as she listened to Nona but she held her tongue for the moment to let her cousin finish speaking.

“—Nevertheless, if you're having second thoughts, you're free to head back to town.” Nona ignored her familiar with a pointed glance at the offending bird. “That said, I'll let you in on a secret: the more noise Alexis makes, the less likely it is you or I will get mauled by a swamp-bear or something. Anything that isn't scared off when it sees her coming is going to try to bite her first. Say what you want about her, but she's terribly good at that kind of thing.”

She was about to pipe in when she heard Fox speaking up, again she held her tongue for the moment.

"All things considered, that went fairly uneventfully." Fox observed, her voice warm and giving a warm smile. "Shall we continue?"

Alexis cleared her throat before anyone else could speak still frowning as she addressed the group. "Nona I applaud your efforts in getting the snake to piss off thank you. I can also appreciate your vocabulary and good nature but need I remind you that it was your invitation you extended first to Zwei?" She folded her arms over her chest a bit looking more like an angry mother now as she took a deep breath through her nose.

"I also doubt Zwei is here for the company of you, Sera and Fox in terms of ravishing beauties I'm sure he is here more for the bounty then the company." Now her attention turned to Zwei without missing a beat she kept speaking after clearing her throat again.

"You acted without consulting us or even asking what we should do. It was just a snake this time and out of your element or not don't be shooting at everything we encounter. I wasn't trying to be an ass but you aren't the one that has to explain to the people who care about you, or about Fox, or about Nona, why they didn't come back from their f**king nature hike." Her voice went up a slight octave before she took another breath and calmed down.

"That would be MY, job and I don't want to have to do that I've had to do it more then enough already with the recent goblin attacks. I don't enjoy the blame from upset kin. I would appreciate a little more team work from your end of things." Her frown had turned into a full fledged motherly glare as she let out a small sigh and shook her head.

"Nona is right though, whatever is stabbing me won't be stabbing you. So if a swamp bear does come flying out of the woods." She glanced at Nona again before looking back at Zweu. "I'd hope you would stab it in the back while it is eating me."

She looks at Fox and shrugs a bit shaking her head again. "Uneventful because of Nona's thinking and magic thankfully." Her face softens as she looks the group over again and her posture relaxes shortly after. "Call me a bitch or an asshole. I don't care, I'm just an orphan who works as a smith and a militia guard. But I'll be damned if I let any of you die while I can still breath. But I can't do that if you are all trying to do your own thing and going in every direction."

She cocks her jaw a bit thinking. "Besides none of us really know any heavy first aid or healing magic. I'd like to not be attacked by the wild life when we still have some fair distance to go. Please if it isn't trying to immediately have at our faces can we discuss what we to do?"

Her face hardened again and she pursed her lips. "I'm not saying for every situation, but for ones like this were whatever obstacle we face isn't proving itself hostile let's not try and stab it or shoot it or fry it or whatever."

Alexis turned her back to the group and headed for the bridge to keep them moving muttering under her breath as she went.

[Had Ian roll Perception checks for you all [[DC 15 - whispered conversation.]] And Nona is the only one to hear this.]

Alexis muttered under her breath hoping it was low enough that the others couldn't hear. "Bloody hell...keep yourself in control Alexis no good comes from being angry right now. Pfff...ravishing beauties my ass, I don't belong in that category. Men don't like a woman who can match them for strength, or work a forge."

[Little insecurities coming to the surface dundundun.]

Zeran picked up the statue waving off the rest of the loot. "I can't use that as good as the est of you. I want this though." He held up the jade statue and looked it over. It was female and he liked the carving off it. "It'll go good with my music box." He said with a chuckle and a light sight thinking back to their battle at the bandit camp, and how he had gotten the box one of his few personal trophies. Zeran nodded at Giles and shrugged. "I don't really care where we go, just point me in the direction and I'll keep the cart moving." He said stretching and making his way back to the cart.

[Statue is female since Owen didn't get back to me on it XD]

Alexis stared at the snake for a good long while and just as she opened her mouth to speak she saw the arrows thunk into the ground by it, the snake seeming none to pleased that it was attacked without provocation. "Oh for crying out loud. Can we please not attack everything we see if it isn't trying to murder us? The snake was perfectly fine and would have probably pissed off if we had made enough noise or it got bored." She sighed a bit rubbing her forehead with her thumb and pointer finger.

“Hey, Alexis, you're good at making friends, right? Have a word with it. Maybe it'll mistake your armour for scales.” She threw a lopsided grin to her 'cousin' the guardswoman.

Alexis cast a 'not now' stern glance back at Nona before she stepped forward her sword and shield at the ready. "Before any of you get any brilliant plans and start trying to stab it let me at least see if I can't get it's attention first." It wasn't a question, it was an order.

Alexis approached the snake staying out of striking range and held her shield up and banged her sword off it. "Get the hell out of here! You'll live longer if you just piss off!" She shouted, making quite the ruckus. She didn't think the snake would listen, but her goal was to try and get it to focus on her so the others could either get by or finish it off.

[Alexis would like to approach close enough to stay out of striking range and make a crap ton of noise at the snake. If it tries to strike she will strike back.]

“Uh, forgive me if I don't lead the way. Goblins are notorious ankle biters and my shins have a terribly low tolerance for perforation.”

Alexis gave Nona a clap on the back before drawing her shield and securing it to her arm. Her sword was next unsheathed and at the ready.

"That being said, I'm not keen on trying to make a trail through the marsh myself. Getting stuck in a bog would be more troublesome." Fox decided, leading the way down the New Fish Trail

Alexis quickly grabbed Fox's shoulder before she could get to far ahead. "Fox if there is anything more then goblins out here, hungry for meat especially, let the tin can lead the way." Although it seemed like a joke Alexis gave a thump of her chest and shield her face all serious. "Just direct me where to go or if you are insistent on taking the lead stick close. Anything tries to jump us I'll put myself between it and the rest of you. Can't let any harm come to you lot can I?" She said with a cheerful smile following along beside Fox, ready to take the front if anything tried to jump them.

[Alexis isn't comfortable letting someone else lead the way into potentially hostile territory, but she is willing to let them walk beside her and lead that way. I'd reccomend as well OOC that Zwei slips back a bit so marching order has Nona in the middle, mostly because: Nona isn't going to be up close and personal hopefully.]

Zeran sat on the ground and grumbled a bit as he watched his bleeding leg. "Do I, get a say?" He asked if with a bit of a snark. He was angry and glared at the beast for a moment before sighing and shaking his head. "Oh f**king forget it let the damn thing go." He struggled up and favored his good leg as he hobbled back to the wagon. "I'll need someone to take a look at my injury when you're done playing with the animal please." He wasn't an evil person the poor thing was as much a victim of circumstance as he was, he let the hurt feelings go and simply sat on the back of the wagon waiting for whatever the group decided.

[Should note, if approached and asked Zeran will more then likely help try to calm/tame the beast enough to make sure it doesn't eat us or attack.]
