Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 2:00 PM PT

Sung listens intently to the story coming across his device. This Chloe being sought after by Patience is luh suh in his mind. He has no beef with Whitefall's governor other than he don't care for oppressive government-types, but this perceived ownership of young girls sticks in his craw. Dark brown boots ring against the gangplank of the hall. Steel blue eyes dart about, peering from beneath the dipping rim of his hat, searching for sign of eavesdropping from any nearby. Miss Stephanie's description of Chloe's condition brings out the protectiveness in Wyatt he reserves for his crew and his lost family, and by the time the doctor enters into her finishing thoughts, he has already made up his mind.

"I also believe it would be in the girl's best interest that Mr. Sarafina not know of the girl's presence either," Stephanie tells the Captain, "I need to treat the girl to ensure her and her baby's safety, but we can discuss what to do with her afterwards. I think if I wait till dark, and perhaps have Trish's assistance, we can slip her quietly to the ship while the men are all ‘busy' at the Slaughterhouse. So, do I have your permission?" Her words are questioning, but her resolve in this situation can be heard by the Captain even over the Com link. She is meaning to treat this girl, it is what she does. She isn't about to abandon anyone who needed her assistance.

"I'll let Ma know t' expect ya," Wyatt stops his pacing and stares out the bay windows as he's ended his pacing at the door to the cockpit. "Don't know that this business has anything t' do with our host's, so I don' see no reason t' involve Eagle-Eye, but sounds like there could be ma fuhn should ya be spotted en route. I'll 'ave the Kid meet up with ya when yer ready t' make the journey t' offer some support should ya need it. Them's my terms, Miss Stephanie. Roc'll serve what hospitality she can 'til we're sure this shao jeh has a future.

There is a long silence for a few seconds, then Stephanie sighs and then speaks, "Very well, though I don't see how a gun will help the situation." She knew that Wyatt was sending their resident gunman to escort them to the ship, and while she didn't hate guns, she was often on the receiving end of the results of their use.

"Where should Asher meet up with ya and at what time?"

Stephanie related their locations with the help of Mrs. Wilson, giving the best route to get to them which would minimize exposure and therefore suspicion, she hoped. "We'll stay put here till it gets dark and Trish and Asher have arrived. I'll let you know once we are on the ship."

"Sheh sheh, Miss Stephanie. Keep safe." Ending the communication, Wyatt turns himself about and makes his way back to the ship's cargo bay.

After the Captain signed off, Stephanie turned back to Mrs. Wilson and Chloe; walking up to the pregnant woman she laid a comforting hand on her arm. "Don't worry, we will wait here till dark and some of the crew of the Rocinante are coming to help move you. You'll be safe!" She hoped that would be the case; she was sure that once she got Chloe to the ship, she would be able to arrest any of her ills and ensure the safety of her and her baby.

Day 1, Whitefall - Eagle Eye's Estate, 2:00 PM PT

Stephanie turned away from the two woman and pulled out a Comlink that had been given to her when she joined the ship, "Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

"Go ahead, Miss Stephanie,"

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?" She intended to take the woman there, she needed treatment and she was going to tend to it, but it was Captain Sung's ship and he had a right to know and even object if he had a good reason. If he has no objection, she was going to help Mrs. Wilson in taking Chloe to the ship by whatever circuitous route was available.

"She one of Sarafina's?"The Captain asked.

"Oh my!" Mrs Wilson exclaimed, "Can we tell your Captain she's one of Patience's? Will he still be willing to help? Believe me, Dr. Young, if Chloe is seen by anyone, it will get to Patience and that woman will stop at nothing to get what she thinks is her property."

"We can trust Captain Sung," Stephanie said. He hadn't known the man long, but from what she had heard and seen of him, she had a feeling that he was a upright and trustworthy man. Turning back to the Comlink and relates to Wyatt the story of what is going on with Chloe and the fact that she is being sought after by Patience.

"I also believe it would be in the girl's best interest that Mr. Sarafina not know of the girl's presence either," she told the Captain, "I need to treat the girl to ensure her, and her baby's safety, but we can discuss what to do with her afterwards. I think if I wait till dark, and perhaps have Trish's assistance, we can slip her quietly to the ship while the men are all ‘busy' at the Slaughterhouse. So, do I have your permission?" Her words were questioning, but her resolve in this situation could probably be heard by the Captain even over the Comlink. She was meaning to treat this girl, it was what she did. She wasn't about to abandon anyone who needed her assistance.

"Who is Petrie Tubbs? Stephanie asked

"The Reverend's Son." Mrs Wilson replies with an air of despair in her voice. "Oh my."

"He ain't like his dad. He said he hates his dad and the Governor. That people deserve to be treated as equals. He said he loved me."

"Oh dear, men always say that. They say lots of nice things and then they are gone." Mrs. Wilson said ruefully.

"I don't know about all men but I do know Petrie and I believed him."

"So why did you run away then?"

Chloe stops talking for a moment and looks away. She then looks back at you and says, "I told Petrie that I thought I was pregnant. He wanted to tell his father and get permission to marry me. I wasn't showin' yet but I knew if they saw I was with child, I would be punished and my baby would be taken from me. Petrie said to just wait and he would take care of things. But he didn't come back. I waited and waited and then the Reverend came to visit.

"I overheard the Governor and the Reverend talkin'. They were talkin' about the plan they had where they were offerin' to free the servants if they married the hands. But their plan was that our debt was handed over to the Hand, not forgiven at all. Our husbands would therefore own us as property. There was somethin' called a loophole that allowed them to give the Governor more territory and land but parcellin' off the land to newly married couples. And then I found out that the Reverend wanted me handed over immediately to a Hand named Duncan. He was very insistent and told the Governor I was a wicked whore who violated his son and I needed to be taken care of. So I slipped out the back and I ran and I didn't stop runnin' until I fell in the dark and then Mrs. Wilson found me and brought me here."

As she spoke, Stephanie used her "gift" to read the baby health and Chloe. The young lady was exhausted, in bad health nutritionally but overall would recover. The baby was was also in good health but the stress of the mom was not good for the child. Stephanie felt it was not in danger but would prefer to examine the child in her medical lab to be sure.

"Everything here appears to be relatively good," Stephanie said and interrupted the talking of the father and the family situation and turned it to the more important items, "but to be sure I would like to take her back to my Med bay on the ship. If that is alright with you Chloe?"

If it is, Stephanie turned to Mrs. Wilson and asked, "Is there a way to get her to the ship with minimum exposure?" If she understood the situation, it would be best if the woman was kept out of sight as much as possible.

She turned away from the two woman and pulled out a Comlink that had been given to her when she joined the ship, "Captain Sung this is Dr. Young."

(Assuming a reply)

"Captain, I have a pregnant woman here who I am going to take to the ship's Med lab and I wanted to check with you to see if you have any objections, or procedures you might have for non-crew aboard the ship?" She intended to take the woman there, she needed treatment and she was going to tend to it, but it was Captain Sung's ship and he had a right to know and even object if he had a good reason. If he has no objection, she was going to help Mrs. Wilson in taking Chloe to the ship by whatever circuitous route was available.

(If Sung objects, Stephanie will respond as needed)

Once they reach the ship, she would get Chloe on the med table and break out her med scanners and give her a full workup. She wanted to know why she was bleeding and to see for sure if there was harm to the baby. She would give the girl a shot of something to help with her poor nutrition and exhaustion. Once she was done with her workup, she would have to see if there was any meals prepared to feed the girl, as she and her baby could use it.

Settling in for the long haul, Maggie is engrossed in the activities surrounding the unloading of a wagon by three black men hoping that the boss will show when she's caught off-guard by a the clearing of a throat behind her. Twisting about, the red-head sees a tall, lean man wearing a smallish tri-cornered cap, a brown coat with tails, and a dingy white shirt collared by a loose black tie. His pants are knee-length, dark brown, and plain but fairly well-kept and his cream stockings nearly reach the cuffs of his pants. He wears worn leather shoes with dark-gray iron buckles on the outer sides. Forehead creased beneath the cap, he stares at the first-mate with a deep scowl on his thin lips but contradicting half-hooded eyes.

He is accompanied by a man of average build wearing a black tri-cornered cap with dark brown hair pulled back in a ponytail and tied off by a black ribbon. He wears a white, high-collared blouse with billowing sleeves the underarms of which are stained yellow from sweat. Dark blue pants cuffed at the knee are tucked into gray stockings. These, in turn, run into the black hob-nailed shoes that are also worn and dingy. A baldric runs across his chest to the left ending in a large pouch. At his waist, a broad, black leather belt is home to a flintlock pistol and a sheathed saber. He carries a rifle in his hands with a bayonet attached to the end.

"Pray tell," the willow-man sneers condescendingly at Maggie once he has her attention, "what do you pretend to be about?"

Maggie turned and took in the look of the two gentlemen eying her where she sat atop the pile of crates. She noted the sneer of contempt from the speaker and chose to pay it no mind; to anger him by replying in kind might draw too much attention. She rose to her feet and made her way down the crates and hoped down to stand in from of the speaker.

"Good day Gentlemen," she said with a smile as she stood before them, "I take it this be your goods in these here crates?"

"Sorry to be standing up there, but I was looking for some of my crew who are late in returning to the ship. No good scallywags get ashore, get drunk or whoring and forget their duties. Those crates just made a good place to get a look about it all. I don't mean to offend."

She smiled pleasantly and hoping to disarm any hostility they might have towards her actions; she crossed her arms simply, this placing her hands closer to her blades, if needed, and looked at the men and raised an eyebrow.

"My name is Maggie Cole," she said still smiling politely, "First Mate on the Sun dog. Who might you Gentlemen be?"

She could be charming when she needed to be, she hated being pleasant, but sometimes it was necessary, as Anna had told her upon many an occasion. She knew she was pretty, and men found her attractive and desirable, and at times like this, it wasn't beneath her to use her feminine charisma when she thought it might help.

I'm sorry that you're losing Willow, but Stephanie isn't replacing her; she is only going to be the New Doc.

No, there won't be skimpy yoga from Stephanie, though she's older, she still might look pretty good if she did.

Tuesday, June 3rd, 1670 a.d., Tortuga Bay Settlement (Ile de la Tortue), Warehouse District, 1:08 P.M.

Ignoring the general grumbling that comes with orders given, the lithe and volcanic-tempered woman lengthens her stride to gain distance between her and the two scallywags she's brought with her. Achieving the wooden planks of the docks before them, she ignores the looks she receives from a few of the dockhands and considers where best she might learn more about Davenport. What makes sense is that he would be known by other captains or quartermasters, but she's not likely to find those on board any of the ships anchored here. Unlike her sister, most spend their time ashore whenever they can and tracking down those types in the maze of varying establishments throughout the settlement would likely be a waste of time. After all, if one of them approached her asking after the Dog's business contacts, she'd tell them to pound sand. The next logical place would be amongst the warehouses used to store goods and keep them from cooking in the sun. Those are at the far end, past the majority of the ships, and on the fringes of the settlement. And it is to those that she makes her way.

Height is what will present Maggie with the vantage she seeks over the warehouses, but on the nearly flat docks there's not much in the way of height to work with. Quickly scanning the scene before her, the red-headed woman notes possible perches.

Stacked one on top of another are crates that build a small pyramid. They have a tarp over them with thick rope bindings to keep it from blowing too much in the wind. Crates of that size are normally quite sturdy and it doesn't appear like anyone is concerning themselves with them at the moment, so, they present an option whereupon she might gain a couple of meters.

Alternatively, a rowboat is turned upside down sitting atop a couple of sawhorses. While not as tall as the crates, it is further away from most of the activity on the dock and closer to the warehouses location. Still, standing atop an overturned boat might draw some attention, but is that entirely a bad thing?

One last position for surveying is a tall, thin building directly across from the first of the warehouses with a bell tower at the front of it. Sitting in that bell tower would provide her an aerial view of the warehouses but it might be too far away to really do any good.

Maggie weighs her options, she doesn't want to stand on the bottom of a boat, that would expose her to unwanted attention to many eyes in the area. She prefers to work in the shadows and is never comfortable with strange eyes lingering on her too long.

She glances again at the tall, thin building with the bell tower; while it would giver her a nice aerial view, if she could get up there, she would be at a greater distance away and might not be a good idea.

She looks at the pyramid of stacked crates and nods as she chooses this as her most obvious choice; yes it would probably attract a little attention, but currently no one seems to be paying any attention to the covered crates. With a glance around to see if anyone is paying her any attention, she strides over to the crates and quickly, but steadily, makes her way up so that she has a good look at the warehouse area. She looks for any sign that might giver her any clue of where she might go to find information on warehouse owners. (Using Surveillance).

I would be willing to give Jade a spin, if their are no objections. The games I am currently in are going slow, so I should be able to keep up. I like this genre and the Jade character is already complete. I just don't know what she looks like.

Back in the longboat with Cyril rowing once again, Maggie stews in her juices until the group reaches the beach. Striding away from the boat, she says, "There's a gent here goes by the name Davenport. We had oursleves a ^&*@ing visit with @#^&ing Grover who's supposed to be a prominent man, or some other bull%#^&, but before we go making deals, we need to know more about this Davenport. Rumor has it that he and %@#&ing Grover are butting heads. Either of you swabs have any ^&#$ing idea how we go about this?"

Cracker shook his head. "I've never been here before. I spent my time today down at the docks looking to see if there were ships leaving - the nicest ship I saw seems to be headed towards the Carolina coast."

Maggie groaned an allowed Cracker to tell her what he had learned while out; she didn't really care about that, unless it lead her to this Davenport. He finished up as the longboat drew in and she hopped out onto the shore.

"But I can't say who they were working for or who was organizing anything in this town. At least one dock hand seemed to be afraid to talk to anyone. Might say somethin' about the boss. But otherwise I can't help you any."

"Well what @#^&ing good are you Cracker," Maggie says as she strides away from the boat. She stands for a moment, her hands on hips as she surveys the dock area.

(OOC: I don't know if Sharktooth had any suggestions. I will backpost and adjust if he does respond)

"Damn it!" Maggie said with a shake of her head, "Alright, you two worthless sons of %&#*@*^, see if you can dig up anything from the dock workers unloading these ships. I know you already asked, but maybe you will get lucky this time,"

She looked about and thought for a moment before striding off, "I'm going to look around."

(OOC: I understand that Maggie has a streetsmart skill, which she will use as she walks the docks and observes and try to spot the right sort of person to ask about this Davenport fella. If she finds anything, or not, she will use her Surveillance skill to observe the warehouses, whether found on her own, or from information. If she finds anyone she thinks might work for this Davenport, she will flat out ask them about meeting with Mr. Davenport.)
