Well, you can certainly play your character as you like, though Golden dragons are the greatest and wisest of dragon kin, they are powerful and proficient with magic and that is how they change shape.  The chromatic dragons are evil and not as powerful in magic relying on brute force.

That being said, play your dragon how you wish, but if I may say, perhaps he can change shape but just refuses to most of the time.  Being a powerful dragon, he might feel he is above the lesser races such as humans, elves, etc., so he refuses to take their form.  Or, he could be a young Gold dragon; when they are very young they dont know all the magic and can't shift yet.  So he could be an adolescent dragon.  That's all up to you!  Just some thoughts.

As for his being outside, he would have to make his presence known  in order to get the attention of anyone within the Inn.   Currently, there are no other players in the inn, unless someone else’s decides to join us.

With all that to consider, I await your post. 😊

The greater metallic dragons , Gold, Silver, etc., can all assume human form. Most evil chromatic (Black, green, red, etc.) can not.  If you wanted to be a red dragon for instance, your visit the Inn would be a bad thing, it wouldn’t make for a good to as only fights can ensue.  So I probably wouldn’t recommend it. 😏

Yes, you can be a dragon.  If you read the latest post, which is mine, you will see that she is a Dragon.

I'll try and post a link here.  The Bleeding Lute

Read over my post and then come up with something you want to do.  Just remember, you only control your on character and can't do anything to another, you can state intentions, such as:  "I take a hard swing at him"  But you can't state that you hit him and knocked him out.  The other players decide if your action is successful.  As for your character, it is yours to control, just remember, there is no God moding, be your character and not all powerful.  Even Dragons can be slain.

Oh, one other note.. alot of people are in there anymore, just just assume if you enter that only my character, the woman described, is there along with the staff of the inn.

Dragon soul,

Try the game thread called The Bleeding Lute it can be found in the Free Form section.

The lute is a free form game anyone can join. It centers around a Inn called the Bleeding Lute.  I posted a entrance of my own. If you would like to join, read what I posted there and respond. It’s simple. Just stick to your character and how you imagine he would be. The only rule is No God Moding, meaning no character is all powerful.

i look forward to seeing you in there. 😊

Subject: Dragons you say?

It was a crystal clear night, the stars twinkled in the cold winter's night. Only a few scattered clouds were visible above the plain where a lone shepherd watched over his mingling flock of sheep as they quietly grazed or dozed before him. He leaned back upon a rock, his staff held before him where he leaned upon it and fought the urge to let his own head droop down like so many of his flock were currently doing.

His head dipped then suddenly rose again, and again, he shook his head as he fought the fatigue of a long night. His eyelids slide closed again and his head dipped once again, but he was suddenly startled wide awake and it brought him to his feet as he felt a tremor of .. something. His sheep felt it too, for some of them began to cry out with unease as if something dangerous was out there. The shepherd took a tighter grip on his staff as he looked around. Was there a wolf out there somewhere nearby?

The waning moon light was suddenly blotted out as a large shadow passed over him causing him to jump. His eyes cast skyward as he looked but didn't see anything, yet the sheep grew noisier and more restless. He felt a trembling in the ground itself, and he suddenly felt an intense sense of fear take hold of him. He didn't know why, as he saw nothing, but that only made his fear grow more fearful.

After a few moments, the sheep's cries began to subside and he felt the fear drop slowly away from him like a blanket slipping to the ground. He didn't know what had just happened, but he knew that he couldn't wait for the sun to rise, as he looked to the horizon praying for it to rise early today.

A few miles away, something large glided through the skies, its skin glistening in the light of the moon and the stars. It began to descend, and if there had been anyone nearby, they would have saw a large dragon gliding towards the ground. It's scaly hide glistening silver in the light, as it flapped it's wings to slow it's approach before it landed, rather gracefully, upon the plain. It stretched it's huge wings for a moment, before drawing them in tight to its body. The huge head looked left and then right, as if looking to see if anyone had noticed it. Seeing no one about, it spoke a word in the dragon tongue, and it's body shimmered more brightly, and sparkled for a few seconds before it began to shrink and change. Within seconds, the large silver dragon was gone, and in its place stood a lovely young woman.

The woman wore a flowing silver gown of the finest silk adorned with tiny crystals which shimmered with reflected moonlight making her form sparkle. Her long flowing hair was a silvery blonde and framed a beautiful face with elvish features. Cool almond shaped eyes, with golden flecked irises, scanned the surrounding area before she stepped forward towards the trees in the distance.

An hour later, as the sun was just beginning to lighten the horizon, the door to the Bleeding lute opened and the woman paused in the doorway for a moment before stepping in and closing the door behind her. At this early hour, there wasn't many people in the common area. The owner, Henry, was up and directing the other staff in preparing for the coming day. Soon patrons would be down and looking for breakfast to start their day. Henry, looked at the woman who entered, and opened his mouth to greet her but then his breath caught in his throat. The beauty of the woman literally took his breath away. He managed to regain his voice a moment later.

“Good day, milady,” Henry said, “if you are looking for a room or a meal, you have come to the right place.”

Maria, the bartender, came out of the kitchen at that moment and saw the woman as she approached Henry where he stood in the center of the common room, Maria paused herself, taken by the appearance of the woman. She was quicker to recover and continued on to the bar, where she began to check her stores to see what she might need to bring out for the morning meal.

The woman stepped up to Henry and smiled at him, he gasped as his breath once again caught at her continence. She looked him over for a moment, locking her eyes upon him and then she gestured with her head to a table near the fireplace which was already lit against the chill of the morning.

“Greetings kind sir,” she spoke, her voice musical to the man's ears, “I will sit by the fire if you don't mind, and I would like a glass of Elvin wine for now.”

“Ah... coming right up,” Henry said once he got his voice back. He gestured towards her table then he turned back towards the bar, “Maria, a glass of Elvin fine.” Approaching the bar he lowered his voice as he leaned towards her, “the best we got.”

Maria nodded to him and looked towards the woman as she sat at the table nearest the fireplace. Dragging out a bottle from beneath the bar, Maria blew the dust off the bottle before opening it and pouring a glass and setting it on a tray. Henry took the tray and walked over to the table, where he set the glass on the table before the woman.

“Here you milady,” he said as he tried not to stare into her eyes; they seemed to draw him in and made him feel as if he would do anything his lady asked of him.

“Thank you sir,” her musical voice came again. She reached out a hand and placed two gold coins on the tray that Henry held as she lifted up the glass and took a sip. She nodded her approval to him and smiled.

“Anything else I can get you milady,” he asked.

“Not right now,” she replied, “perhaps in a little bit I might have something to eat. For now, I would just like to enjoy the wine and the fire.”

Henry nodded and then walked away; he went into the kitchen to make sure things were up and running smoothly.

The woman sighed slightly, though the sound didn't travel beyond her table, as she looked around the room and quietly sipped her wine, apparently enjoying the atmosphere of the Inn known as the Bleeding Lute. Perhaps she would find out the origin of the strange name of this place.

(OOC: Just a little something as the games I am in are stalled, and I was bored. Anyone may join in if they wish. )

Do you have any additional orders, Doctor?” Dana asked.

=/= Begin triage setup =/=

Reine entered then and spoke with Cook directly, taking a mental inventory. She had not worked for any extended length on a ship as small and with as limited resources as the Peregrine, but she had certainly worked with less, “There isn't word of any injured or casualties of as of yet, but with only seven beds in total available I'd like you to designate a team headed by our most senior nurse under you in the event that we need to convert the cargo bay into an extended sickbay.”

“Do you know what's going on Doctor?” Cook asked at last.

“We’ve dropped out of warp and are being attacked by three unknown ships,” she shared a look with her head nurse, “Nothing more than that as of yet.” The remaining med staff ran in through the doors behind her and joined the others in preparation, “Will that be all, Chief?”

“Aye Doctor,” Dana replied and turned to instruct the nursing staff and techs in what needed to be done.

Reine nods and replies, “Let's get to work then,” and joins the rest of her staff.

((OOC: Looks like medical is ready.  Bring it on! 😏 ))

Cook starts to walk to the door but stops short and turns back to Lauren.

“Maybe I'll try to talk to the Captain and remind him of your going back to work as originally scheduled,” she says, “If you're okay with that?”

"Oh, please don't!" Lauren shakes her head emphatically, her mousey features bunching up as though she has just sucked on a lemon. "I don't need any more spotlights shown my way, thank you."

After Lauren's reply, Dana nods to her friend and turns back to the door, “Don't worry Lauren, things will be back to normal soon.”

"My new normal," Lauren remarks. "Thanks for the visit, Dana. I miss it being the two of us. Have a good night."

”Just because we’re not roommates anymore, doesn’t mean you’re rid of me,” Dana said with a smirk, “Good night Lauren.”

The door swooshed closed behind Cook, leaving the Chief wondering about her friends mental health.  Hopefully she would be back to work soon and her mind would be on other things.  She would make sure to schedule time with Lauren once her final time of confinement was over.

Nine. Nine more days of confinement,” PO Crane says heavily. “But, I’m supposed to be entering active duty again any day now just with additional workloads. That was something that was supposed to be implemented a number of days ago but the Blue B*tch sent me notice that the captain’s court-martial was delaying the transition. I think she just wants me to suffer further and doesn’t trust my work.”

I'm sure you know her better than I,” Cook replied, “but I hope that a Star Fleet officer would be above such petty things.”

Well,” Dana replied, “I'm no counselor, but I'm always here to listen to you and offer advice. You know that.” It was a statement and not a question.

Cook sighed a little as she was saddened by this whole situation, then she slowly rose to her feet.

I guess I've probably overstayed my time here,” Dana said with a shrug, “I don't want to imbue anyone's ire and make them think I'm violating your confinement. Though I wouldn't really care myself, I don't want to give them any reason to extend your sentence.”

Cook started to walk to the door but stopped short and turned back to Lauren.

All nursing personnel on site in Sickbay,” Dana replied to the doctor as she kept and eye on her staff around her, “We are making sure to secure Sickbay in case of battle damage. We have medkits ready and personnel standing by to deploy as needed about the ship if called upon. Do you have any additional orders, Doctor?”

((Doctor's reply))

Stardate: 2365.03.29
USS George Washington Carver, Crew Quarters - 0948

Crewman Uhnari sat nervously in her quarters waiting for the time to gather for the away mission; when she was nervous, she often sang to relieve some tension.  Singing always calmed her as she had to concentrate on her voice’s tone and pitch and the words were often soothing as well.    She thought for a few seconds and, because no one else was in the room at this time, she decided to sing a song.

“Computer,” Sari spoke aloud, “play slow harmony no. 7, medium volume.”

A soft lilting tune began to fill the room as Sari slowed her breathing and at the right point in the song, she began to sing softly.

“What has come over me
What madness taken hold of my heart
To run away, the only answer
Pulling me away
To fall upon the night
The source of my recovery
Sweet shadow taking hold of the light
Another day has been devoured
Calling me away, begging a question
Why

For saving me from all they've taken
Letting my armor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
On a path to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing

In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for
The rest of your life
Give in to the night

This self-discovery
Redemption taking hold of my mind
A serenade of haunting voices
Calling me away
To feast upon the night
The source of my Felicity
Dark maiden taking hold of my hand
Lead me away from hibernation
Strong and unafraid
Never a question why

For saving me from all they've taken
Letting my armor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
I'm about to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing

In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for
The rest of your life
Give in to the night”

As her voice faded the music did as well.  She sighed softly, that song always seemed to calm her nerves and let her feel like she had nothing to fear.  It banished all of the thoughts that threatened to intrude upon her well-being.  She now felt ready to do her job; she just wished the time for the away mission was here now.  She hated waiting.
