Topic: Paranoia: the Only Good Commie is a Dead Commie
Subject:

When Steam and Ammpe were clear of the room, Steam leaned against a wall to catch his breath, the smell of burnt flesh singeing his nostrils--whether from his arm, the dead body, or Brighte's ass, it was hard to say.

"Looks like the red buton was not correct after all," Brighte was now in his face, "Maybe a little less drawing of weapons on teammates and lectures on treason, and a little more thought might have saved my ass, your hand, and Blowz's life," Steam would have pointed out that Brighte was the only one around lecturing anyone, and that Team Leader was also injured, however the lecture continued, "Seems the computer is asking us to do things a little outside the normal blind faith realm. Now we need to find medical attention. Don't you agree?"

It was actually probably a good idea for Brighte not to seek medical attention, considering the difficulty they would have in differentiating his ass from his face. Alas, Steam could not get a word out, as Brighte had gone on to drone in someone else's face.

Steam looked in at the dead body as they awaited the next Blowz clone. Friend Computer does not make mistakes. If it wanted them to push the yellow button, they would have been given Yellow clearance. He didn't know why Friend Computer wanted to kill the first Blowz clone and wound him, though he could understand if the final result was to shoot Brighte in the ass the whole time. That was fucking was hilarious.

He felt a heaviness come over him after the rush of adrenaline escaped, and gingerly pulled out one of his own vitamins to help push some of that heaviness away. He took inventory of everything he had on him. It wasn't much. He grabbed his gun with his good hand and knew as the equipment officer it would be his duty to ensure it worked properly in the future. He put the gun away and ripped off a part of his now burnt sleeve to ensure it would stay out of his wound and to perhaps wrap the wound. But first . . .

"Oy, Officer Slipp-R-YEE, Hygiene Officer," he made his way to the bubbly clone, "can you have a look at this wound? Make sure I'm not gonna lose an arm to infection or anything? Everything look clean? Also maybe have a look at Team Leader when you get the chance. Thanks for that vitamin back there too, by the way."

Steam grabbed his wrist in a moment of shock at being hit by the laser, taking a moment he didn't have to focus on the task at hand. He had lost his weapon, the laser was still looking for targets, he was wouned, his gun was on the ground, and his team was fleeing.

He shook himself out of his brief stun and shouted to his lagging teammates, "GO!" and kicked his gun out of the room ahead of him to avoid getting shot again by the the defense system.

With his good hand, Steam grabbed Team Leader by the scruff of their shirt and helped shove them out with him. If Ammpe wasn't a traitor, they were still a member of the team and necessary to complete Friend Computer's mission. If they really were a commie traitor, Steam would rather wring their neck himself than leave it to someone or something else.

No stranger to vitamins himself, Steam took the pill from Slipp and popped it in his mouth.

"At your service, citizen. Automatic defense system activated"

Steam watched as the yellow laser turned on team leader, taking him down in an instant and moving to face its next victim. Torn between his years of protecting his team members and the wisdom of Friend Computer, Steam drew his laser, ready to help take down the next traitor Friend Computer's laser set its sights on.

Steam looked at Brighte, a finger on the red button and a hand on his laser, "Yellow is treason, comrade", and pushed the red button.

Steam grabbed the laser that had fallen out of his hand when the pain shot through his head--a punishment well-deserved for not shooting that dirty commie spy before he had the chance to try to sabotage Friend Computer. He holstered the pistol he had been too slow to draw and looked around for something to dab at the piss on the front of his pants.

He waited for the rest of the team to head out before following them. Brighte was quick, with his eyes and his mouth. Hopefully that'll come in handy in their upcoming task. Interesting tactic for the morale officer to blame that commie for attacking Friend Computer, then admitting to breaking the speaker himself, resulting in a team brain fry. However, because of him their team had already taken out an enemy of Friend Computer, and that was something to be proud of.

Steam walked awkwardly through the blast doors, hoping the pee would dry soon, and read the sign on the second blast door, "SWR SECTOR. To activate automatic defense system and to open access door, use controls below."

He made his way to the front of the group, ready to make up for his hesitation before, "Stand aside, I got this."

Steam looked at the buttons, and back at the laser cannon. These are a kind of equimpent, and Friend Computer put Steam in charge of equipment. And Friend Computer doesn't makes mistakes.

Steam knew what to do.

The team is Red. That button is red. It made perfect sense.

Steam raised his hand to push the red button.

Friend Computer knows what it is doing, and orders are orders. Steam-R-LLR took a good look at his new team leader. Perhaps he hadn't given him enough credit before. The guy looked tough, maybe even tough enough to make some good decisions. Not as tough as Steam, he thought, as he palmed Dweebs' face and shoved him out of Team Leader's way, but Friend Computer saw something in him, and so Steam would fall in line.

Equipment Control Officer was also the perfect role for Steam. Building morale and communicatin' kindly weren't generally in his repertoire. Though ensuring loyalty and--he sniffed his pit--enforcing hygiene were also some of his strengths. Friend Computer got it right again.

Steam felt the excitement rise in him with every step closer to the briefing. Some dead commies or mutants were in his future, he could feel it. And he couldn't wait.

Steam looked around at his team: R&D, IT, Logistics . . . Undisciplined, untrained in battle. Would they have what it takes to take down the mutant scum plaguing and soiling the human race? Any of these new comrades one of those degenerate dregs?

His eyes narrowed, searching their faces and listening to them berate that Dweebs, who Steam himself was having difficulty not strangling then and there. Despite that grating voice droning on, Steam kept his temper. Years in the armed forces had made him impervious to ruckus like his, though it was pretty loud.

No, Steam was ready to go. Ready to get back into combat and weed out some dirty commies and the mutant stain on humani--shit was this guy still talking?

Lucky for Dweebs, Steam was a trained professional. His intense training kept him focused, cool, collected. No way was this annoying prick going to--Friend Computer damn it, Dweebs was dead!

Steam clentched his tray, ready to jump up and beat the life of that Friend-Computer-damn clone when he heard a voice. A small, whispered voice, but one different from the ones he was used to hearing. It was coming from down below, "Hey, troubleshooters! Yes, you, Team MAO-17859 Dot R-2! Down here! Yes, down here, under the table! Now!"

The soldier loosened his hands from around the tray's edges, and looked down beneath the table.
