Topic: D&d 3.5 Campaign: The Dungeon
Subject: For clarification.

I want to keep this as a low level start to the campaign. I won't allow anything with an HD higher than 3. If you wish to add a template to an existing race, send me a pm. This is actually the safest way about it. If you send me a pm with an out there idea, I can give you a judgment before you spend too much time on the wrong track. I prefer to be open ended, just remember, it's meant to be low level to start.

Retooled my considerations for skill points in this game. I've edited the initial post to reflect upon that.

Point buy will be 30. Level one. Other than that, any basic class, including those from sources, any race that has a "as a character" stat list. For instance, one can be a Drow, but you won't level up for thrice as long. The CL adjustments will be applied.

It is notably different, and under any other circumstances I wouldn't recommend it. At least not the equipment bit. The skills are corellary to experience though. So it is relevant.

Hello there fellow inn-mates! I've been mulling and lurking, considering a new venture into the long honoured tradition of Dungeon Mastering! I have decided on a game I thoroughly enjoyed with my home grown gaming fellows, and I hope you might share in this twisty turvy scenario of mine.

The game will be very quick to start. 3.5 rules, standard point buy, level 1 characters. I know that might seem bothersome to a few of us, but I assure you the pace of levelling will be monstrously rapid... Though first there must be survivors.

There will be no call for a backstory as of yet. That will come as we go along. No items to buy, no skills to fill in (After a discussion with a fellow inn-mate, I've come to a different opinion on this. You may fill in your skills if desired, or pool them for levels to come. Either way can be beneficial.) To be clear it isn't a stripped down game, it just begins in an abstract way. Skills will be available for buy in upon successful rolls in that skill category.

There will be a few other variants added in, rapid crafting, massive damage, etc.

I will accept any and all character concepts from the published works, and perhaps others so long as I can find the material and agree with its rules. Haha. That said, the first thing I want to see is some interest. There won't be a lot of relevant background to divulge as of yet. The start of the game is meant to be a bit of a surprise.

I'll be looking to update weekly, and looking for thought out, well structured posts that highlight to personality of the character. I've been long removed from my most inspired of days, so I want to note I'm not looking for perfection. Just that good old college try. As long as we can dish out a few good relevant paragraphs, and keep our mechanics in check, I'm thinking we will spin quite the tale together. Looking forward to it!

Calopee grimaced at every pulse of blood running through her, the dam that was her skin had been breached and now blood trickled down her midriff with every beat, bringing with it a throbbing pain. Her ruse had worked though, there was solace in this truth. Her consternated foe looked for her with increasing fury in his eyes.

She had a choice to make, one that could end in dire consequence for her if she made a slip. She could use this opportunity to catch him with a stone's throw unaware. Mete out injury, but to what end? If he caught her again, it could very well mean the end of her. She fancied herself pretty quick, but this man was obviously learned in the ways of combat, if not in hygiene.

There was another option. Continue this quiet game of cat and mouse. If he was busy searching for her, it left her allies free to finish off his minions, and perhaps rescue poor Tristan from his quickened fate. It was as good as dealing out pain. If he was surrounded and alone, he would fall regardless of his prowess.

(Calopee will react to the leaders choices. If he continues his search for her, she will remain hidden. If he rejoins the melee, she will close to lethal distance (within 30 feet of him) and throw a skip rock, targeting him and a bandit if the opportunity arises. )

If I had it my way the mechanics would allow a bluff to be a synchronized movement, such as whipping my backpack in another direction to confuse them about my direction. But in D&d this seems to be an impossibility. Throwing a backpack is a standard action, can't be used as the standard bluff action.

Still that's one of many ideas. I've considered perhaps melting away into a goatherd. But alas they don't seem to be nearby. Throwing rogues are an interesting experiment to me. Haha.

The wee lass had disposed of yet another of the bandits, though in her heart, she knew the credit did not rest solely on her shoulders. Turning to face her 'champion', who now lay bleeding in the dirt, the options flickered through her mind. Loyalty wasn't in her nature. She was proudly concerned with advantage, profit. Benevolence was good and fine if it was lucrative. Honour was a word people threw around when it was convenient, and family honour was more a door for a skeletal closet than a line in the sand. Honour amongst thieves was a joke... Suffice it to say, the thought of vanishing into the night crossed Calopee's mind, and instinct found a foothold there. The diviner was down, and they were back to even odds, only they were spread thin, and the bandits flanked a wounded Mal. Then there was that leader, and the glint in his eyes at spotting her. Everything spelt out flee.

Not yet! She hissed, if only to herself. There was still time, and her own mortality was yet to be contested. Why raise up a band of heroes if you weren't even going to use it. Surely they should handle a couple thugs more readily than this!!??

Still, she was a creature with a very particular skillset, and it required stealth and the unsuspected edge. If she were to be of any value to her party, it would have to be from the angles unknown; the corners unseen. So, as she had since this battle began, she slipped quietly into the night, and awaited an opportunity to strike.

(Calopee will move south and south east into the field and attempt to hide, if successful she will take a sneak attack at the leader. If the leader comes for her, she will attempt to bluff her way out of his sight and hide yet again.)

The likelihood of the Boss man coming for me next round is quite high. I don't like that glint in his eyes. That may distract him from his dying comrades for a spell.

In the classical sense it shouldn't work at all. But Grugg may be of a more considerate mind in that regard.

Calopee's breath stopped as the Doggy man nearly stepped on her while she lay nuzzled into the mulch and dust. She cursed the thunderous beat of her heart, certain it would be heard from above. The Doggy man, however, was as oblivious to her as she assumed he was to that ugly face he'd see in the mirror on occasion. Perhaps she could put some pretty new blotches on it.

The little halfling lass slowly snaked her way out of the crouch that had secreted her into the dirt, her hand slipping into her special bag of stone holding. Hmph... he's not worth the countless hours spent on the perfect polish of her precious stones," she thought to herself with the snobbish pride of a practiced artisan, as she coursed her fingers across the smooth finish of her treasures until coming across a rough edge, "a simple stone for the merest of men. Yes, that should do nicely."

Tracing the figure fumbling through the dark-lit field, she prepared her strike, keeping her mind on the subtle differences between the two projectiles. No need to discern angles here. There was only one target to trouble. It was, in her mind, very nearly the difference between using a club, and a rapier. It was of little consequence to her, though, she'd been throwing stones since she was a child, and was very nearly as good at it. If anything, it was only the quality of the stones she crafted that made the difference in the strike.

A little squint, and a light bite of the tongue, as she wound up for the throw. After that, a steady toss, and a swift and silent dash to the north. Lets see if the doggy likes to play fetch.

(Calopee attacks Bandit 7, and then attempts to hide from him, and moves 5 feet north.)

As far as resources go, I've yet to properly utilize a good deal of my time of magic, or whatever it's called. I really would like to play the most bombastic specialist Mage one day.

As far as ideas not fully implemented yet. I haven't yet constructed one of my no hp D&d variants, (play testing aside). That would be one I'd be particularly fond of attempting. I'm thinking pirates/renaissance era.
