Subject: A good start - Some info to help you expand

This is a good start. The shack is pretty close to the island and is in direct view of it. It would probably constantly taunt you. You have asked Gorvi to take you on a couple of occasions but he says there is much bad voodoo and death there. You can serve the god you listed earlier .. thats fine. Despite the ram shackled look of the home, Gorvi has made quite a pretty penny for himself serving as Sandpoint's dungsweeper, enough that he employs about two dozen vagrants and curs who would otherwise be causing trouble along the boardwalk. His crew uses distinctive red wheelbarrows to collect refuse and garbage. Lately, Gorvi has been making a menace of himself more than usual spending some evening down at the boardwalk harrasing ladies. Mayor Kendra has asked him to ease up but Gorvi has grown content with the idea that he will not be run out of town as long as the streets continue to remain clean. His friend Grush has been staying with him who is an actual orc. This makes some people uneasy so he advices Grush not to wander the streets without his company even though Grush is not afraid of anyone or anything.

Subject: First Postings

Your first postings might be about what you are doing around town as preparations are made for the Swallowtail Festival. I will be glad to help you with any questions you might have .. just message me. This will be a good way to set up what your characters are like .. who they know .. and what they are doing/feeling about the festival. There are many different characters around town and I would be glad to integrate them into any of your stories.

Don't post until I take a look at it though if you don't mind

Subject: Swallowtail Festival Preparations

For five years, the faithful of Sandpoint have attended church in smaller wooden structures rebuilt after fire destroyed the previous temple, and while their new pastor Abstalar was helpful, kind and wise, church wasn’t the same. Now the cathedral is finally done. All that remains is for the Swallowtail Festival to renew the site’s blessings from the gods and it will be as if the Sandpoint Fire had never occurred.

“Place the banner directly above the door” , mayor Kendra Deverin told Abstalar Zantus who was leaning a wooden ladder against the side of the new stone cathedral. “I want everyone who comes by to see it.”

“Aye Kendra, the Swallowtail will bring a revitalization to our town. It will be nice to have a more permanent place of worship for our fine parsonage.” Climbing up the ladder he fastened one end of the banner securely on one side of the main entrance with a small iron piton. “I bet the new cathedral will even be able to be seen from atop the Whistler’s Tors even”

“Perhaps Abstalar. Definitely from atop the old light eh" With this the town’s chief aristocrat turned and faced Belor Hemlock who stood next to her looking on with satisfaction. “Belor, have you come up with a security plan for the festival?”

“I don’t think we’ll be needing much security” , the town’s sheriff replied. A native Shoanti who inherited his post as sheriff after an unfortunate string of murders occurred in town ultimately ending in the previous sheriff’s death. He was generally regarded to be the man who stopped Chopper’s rampage on the small town. When the emergency election took place he had become the first Shoanti sherrif in Sandpoint’s history. He was probably right about security. Sandpoint had its share of trouble but it was generally regarded as a safe place to be. “But I’ve got Vachedi on duty in case any troublemakers show up. Probably just some teens trying to have some fun if anything. Most of the folk will be too wrapped up in the festival to cause any trouble”

Abstalar placed the other end of the banner up against the Cathedral wall. “Perfect Abstalar. That looks absolutely perfect.” The mayor turned once again to the sheriff and smiled. “I’m sure you have things well under control. See you back at the Town Hall later on. I have some paperwork for you.”

“Blasted paperwork” , Belor Hemlock mumbled and he gave a nod “Let me know if you need anything Abstalar.” With that he turned and walked down Church Street in the direction of Main Street.

Subject: Player Backgrounds

Player Backgrounds can be posted here. You do not have to be from Sandpoint but it is a good possibilty you are. If you are not from sandpoint you need a reason to be there. There are many locations in town so I will be glad to give you further details if you want to know more information about specific locations/ people/ etc.

The five major deity's worshiped at the Sandpoint chapel are Abadar, Sarenae, Shelyn and Gozreh and Erastil. These were the deities of the original patrons and founders of the Sanpoint Mecantile and Erastil popular by the original settlers. Desna (travel) is also frequently worshiped.
Even if you are not a Divine Caster you still need to pick a deity or one you tend to align with. List of deities is found in the RORL players guide. You may choose any deity on the list.

Humans are most common .. but there are other traditional races found throughout the lands of Varisia

A Campaign Adventure For 3.5 D&D

Chapter 1: Burnt Offerings
The coastal town of sandpoint has faced few trials and dangers over the course of its forty-two year history, but unfortunately, this is all about to change. Unknown to the town's founders, they chose to build their community over the ruins of an ancient stronghold once used as laboratory and prison, a place where horrific experiments and unholy explorations into what divides man from monster took place. These are the Catacombs of Wrath, one of several such sites used by Runelord Alaznist's apprentices during Thassilon's height, a place where arcanist explored and perfected the stolen arts of lifeshaping and fleshwarping. When Thassilon fell, these catacombs went dormant, but the one buried under Sandpoint was not fated to stay that way

Subject: Sandpoint

Sandpoint

Sandpoint is found 50 Miles north of Magnimar (a major city) along the rocky coastline known as the Lost Coast. It was once a Varisian campsite in the shadow of an ancient ruined tower. It is now the Lost Coast’s largest town

The Lost Coast is a peculiar country, Fog draping rolling landscape. Damp and lonely moors and small woodlands. Further inland, river valleys lined by majestic redwoods wind between ragged tors and limestone escarpments. In essence a vast isolation

Along the lonely roads about every 25 miles or so is a roadside inn. Low stone shrines to Desna, goddess of wanderers and patron of the Varisians give further opportunity for shelter.

As one approaches Sandpoint, the footprint of civilization grows more clear. Wooden bridges across creeks and the coast grows wider and more well-kept. Sight of Sandpoint from any direction is hidden by large upthrust limestone pavements called the Devil’s Platter or by rocky outcroppings know as Whistler’s Tors. As you round the final bend, however, Sandpoint’s smoking chimneys and bustling streets greet travelers with open arms. The southern entrance is governed by a wooden bridge and the north by a low stone wall. A stone gatehouse is watched by one or two guards and a sign with a mirror reads “Welcome to Sandpoint! Please stop and see yourself as we see you!”

Sandpoint is a small town with a conventional mayor (Kendra Deverin)
Typically NG in alignment, the town has a few assets but not many
Because of this there is relatively little crime aside from the occasional Goblin attacks
The current population is just over a thousand, mostly human but some Halflings, dwarves, gnomes, elves and even a half-orc
The sherrif is Belor Hemlock and the town priest is Abstalar Zantus
There are a few nobles in Sandpoint but they arn’t as wealthy as the nobles of Magnimar

In recent history, settlers from the southern nation of Cheliax came to Varisia. The city of Magnimar was settled by colonists who were dissatisfied with a strong reliance on Chelish support in Eastern Varisia. Four powerful families from Magnimar had their eyes on the region of Sandpoint but instead of fighting each other they joined together. They formed the Sandpoint Mercantile League. This league began a aserios of talks with the local Varisians and eventually an aggremant was made promising to incorporate the worship of Desna into the town’s cathedral and a generous share of profits made by businesses to the locals. This agreement helped Sandpoint to take off and thrive. The four families were the Kaijitsus (glassmakers and jewelers) the Valdemars (shipbuilders) theScarnettis (loggers) and the Deverins (farmers and brewers)

Most of the buildings of Sandpoint are made of wood with stone foundations and wood shingle roofs. The majority are single –story structures. Some buildings, including the temple, are newly constructed as a major fire destroyed much of the town at one point. Downtown is build on a gentle slope that runs from a height of about 60 feet above sea level to the west down to only a few feet above the waterline to the east and south. The harbor is a fairly deep natural harbor, 30 feet for most, with sharply rising slopes near shore. The waters of the Turandarok river sind down from the hinterlands, skirting Devil’s Platter to empty into the harbor. The river is often used to transport lumber harvested far upriver down to the local saw mill. A few hundred feet north of town rises an upthrust spur of rocky land topped with a few trees. This is known as Chopper’s Isle, once home to Sandpoint’s most notorious criminal. Local’s believe it is haunted and stay away. Children dare one another to go to the base at low tide and touch the cliff, but no-one has been known to visit the top in years

The sight that strikes all visitors is the ruins of the Old Light. The original height is unknown but some say it may have once stood 700 feet tall. No-one seems to know for sure what this structure once was.

Cerebrus – Corridor/Turbolift/Bridge en route to the ship’s Captain - 1215 hours

Lt. Solus walked the corridors of the ships taking the Turbolift from Deck 6 to the Bridge and ultimately a meeting with the Captain. He had never met Captain Jack MacTavish but he was determined to make a good first impression. Wonder what his interests are .. maybe we will have something in common .. If we do it will make things easier. Of course .. this mission will surely bring up some time to get to know one another. I …
Lt. Solus stopped in midthought as he rode the turbolift to the main deck when the doors opened and a massive creature stepped onto the turbolift. From his studies, Solus recognized the species immediately. A Kzinti, a felinoid species from the planet Kzin. Kzinti had been at war with Earth some time ago but had sense entered into a time of peace. Hopefully they might one day join the Federation Alliance. To see one serving on a Starfleet vessel was a delight to Lt. Solus indeed. I hope he’s a friendly Kzinti.
“Royelle Solus … Good evening Lt. Commander ………”, Solus remarked, extending a hand to the
Kzinti Lt. Commander waiting for an exchange of names.

(Rrowl's Response Here)

“I look forward to working with you. I am the CSO newly assigned to the Cerberus. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.” At this Lt. Solus stepped out of the turbolift and onto the bridge. Taking in the technology and studying acclimating himself with the ships systems. Approaching Science I he began to check the controls of the system recognizing the software as adequate. Looks like I might be making a few upgrades in my spare time

A voice came from behind and nearly startled Solus as he was looking over the controls at Science I. The Captain had stepped onto the Bridge.

Stardate: 2374.08.31
Starbase 10 - Teleporter 4 - 1200 Hours

Your transport is ready sir” the operator replied for the second time. Lieutenant Solus was deep in conversation with a civilian teen explaining the intricacies of the teleporter to her. The young traveler seemed to become even less at ease with the idea of Teleportation as the Lieutenant explained the effects of de-molecularization on the human body. Hearing the transporter technician for the first time he turned with a smile. “Excellent. I wouldn’t be taking this infernal contraption if I wasn’t running late as it is. I always prefer the shuttlecraft. A breathtaking view of the starts beats disintegration any day in my book”. He smiled once more at the troubled teen who looked at the pad as the Lieutenant stepped on. “Whenever you are read-” and the teleportation began before he even finished his sentence.
Royelle Lafayette Solus III, a Starfleet Lieutenant was excited about his new post aboard the Cerberus. He had studied hard at the Academy and even harder after, thoroughly enjoying his recent job which gave him much time in Astrometrics. He was obsessed with learning all there was to know about space. Even as a child he had looked up into the vast wilderness of stars and wondered. All the new discoveries, all the different species, the technology, the purpose he could find up there. Now in his 30s, he had finally landed a post as Chief Science Officer and took this job with an eagerness that would be found in ensign on his first assignment. He was this way with all new opportunity.

Cerberus – Teleporter Room 2

The molecules found their way back to their original sequence and in an instance Lt. Solus stood on board the Cerberus with a smile. “Welcome to the Cerberus” a rough voice echoed through the chamber. Standing before Lt. Solus with a salute and a smile was his second, Lt. Jordan Lassiter. Lt. Lassiter arrived much earlier and was already acclimated to the Cerebrus. “ I’m glad you could finally make it aboard sir.” Your things await you in your quarters. The captain would like to meet you as soon as possible.”
“I am anxious to meet the Captain as well. And good to see you have adjusted yourself so well. We will catch up later this evening. Perhaps a drink at the bar.” Lt. Lassiter nodded and saluted once more as Lt. Solus strode out of Teleporter Room 2 eager to meet his new Captain.
