Topic: Age of Worms Combat Thread
Subject: Age of Worms Combat Thread

Combats for Age of Worms Will Be Posted Here

Combat will be done in rounds using the edit command to add each new round of combat in the thread for that particular battle. The title of your post for each battle should be that battle's title.

Your action for each round should be posted using the combat format (listed below) and should have the round number at the beginning of it.

Combat Format
Round # > Character Name: HP/MaxHP > Buffs > Action Taken: Action Details

Round # = the Round of combat
Character Name = Name of Character
HP = Current Amount of HP
MaxHP = Max Amount of HP Your Character Has
Buffs = Any Buffs/Spells on your Character (Bless, Stoneskin, etc)
Action Taken = Attack, Spell Cast etc
Action Details = Rolls and Possible Dmg (Atk Roll|Dmg).. Etc

Examples:

Round 1 > Devalero: 12/12 > None > Attack Gnoll: 16|2
On this example Devalero is at full health with no buffs. He attacks a gnoll with a roll of 16. if this roll hits, he will deal 2 dmg.

Round 5> Devalero: 2/12 > Bless > Cast Cure Light: 5
On this round Devalero is down to 2 HP out of 12 .. he needs a heal so he heals himself for 5 HP with a cure light

I will create the post for the enemy in combat .. and using the edit command Add new rounds. You should also use the edit command to add new rounds to your character updating what you do and what is effecting you based on the results of the encounter

At the top of your combat log you should also put your AC in the format:
AC/TouchAC/FlatfootedAC
17/15/12 for example

Subject: Tickwood Awaits

After almost a full days journey, Tickwood forest enters into view. The carriage speeds through a wooded trail heading deeper and deeper into the forest. Although the forest is wide, the sun's rays penetrate through in various places sending warm rays down to the earthen floor below. The floor, covered with moss and fern, holds some moisture although it has not rained. The wind blows gently swaying the tops of trees and eventually, the Carriage pulls to a stop inside the woods.
Aldern looks out and claps The tickwood hunting grounds at last. My hunting companions await. Exit and stay close. Some of these are not to be trusted. Deep within Tickwood forest, a small tent town had been erected. Many parties of hunters staked out small areas of the makeshift village, sharpening their weapons and rubbing oils on their bowstrings. Fletching new arrows and cooking rabbit and deer over small campfires throughout. The sun was setting soon, but even as Aldern Foxglove stepped out of the Carriage, many heads turned to look upon him, some with respect, still others with disdain.
The hunt, after all was a competition. And all were after the same prize. Only one party can win the championship pelt of the wild boar that has been loosed in this forest. We shall be those champions. Turning to Selaro he quickly added Of course, we will also feast on the meat of our victory. It will be enough to feed us all well and none shall be wasted he smiled. He wanted to make sure that he did not offend her with the hunt. He knew her dislike for senseless animal killing.

Subject: Fighting amongst players

I have had this problem before myself. It was mainly one guy who always wanted to pick apart the other players ideas and made comments about the rules and such. What I did, and this might not work for you, but I wanted to provide a visual for their distraction, was this:

I took I cup and placed it at the table. Every time a person said something negative or argumentative out of character I dropped a coin in the cup (a chip or marble or anything would work .. you want it to make a sound though) I didn't even tell them what I was doing.

Eventually they asked .. What are you doing? I said .. it's the argument cup. They said what is it for. I said to punish you later for being argumentative and wasting my time. They said .. oh .. hum .. how are we going to be punished? I said .. depends on how pissed off you make me. Ever heard of the DM Dragon? I asked.

Needless to say, they got the point and whenever they would start to argue I would just get out the cup and they would usually say .. hey guys .. lets get back to the game.

Like I said .. this probably wouldn't work for every group .. but the cup gave my group a visual aid and I didn't have to yell at them at all. Let me know how it goes

Subject: To Tickwood

Aldern Foxglove got up early and waited for the others to arrive out in front of the inn. He sat next to his driver on the coach that he had taken into town from his mansion. Four riders stood next to their horses ready to escort the coach along it's journey to Tickwood. A second covered wagon carried goods for the journey and items he had picked up from the Swallowtail festival. As the local heroes arrived, he clapped his hands It is great to see you! he told each one as they arrived. He was especially happy to see Selaro and he could hardly contain the joy in his voice when she arrived. I didn't think you would come but I am so glad you did When all had arrived he ushered them into the coach with himself and the caravan took off, heading west over Tanner's Bridge and along the southern banks of the Tunrandarok river. Heading north of the upthrust limestone escarpment known as the Devil's Platter. Aldern addresses the group as they ride along. He is a great conversationalist asking each of his passengers many questions. He is interested in who they are, where they are from, how long they have been fighting goblins. He gladly answers any questions they might have for himself.

*GAME NOTE* If you have not already please post your character information in the NEW Runelords Character Thread

Yeah .. i just got all my stuff for 3.5 and am still collecting .. I would like to see 4.0 come out so at least maybe the 3.5 stuff will go on bigtime sale but otherwise I'll have to see what I think after it comes out. It looks like they are re-vamping everything so it will be a totally different game. I'm sure there are some good things to come from it though. I hear they are trying to make it faster paced and to appeal to the "younger" crowd who likes everything fast food style

Topic: Rise of the Runelords
Subject: Desna

Desna, had been busy watching the people of Sandpoint. There was, indeed a deeper plan. She knew it and the other god's knew as well. Something had to be done. Evil, like Varisia had never seen was about to rise. An old Evil, one that brought fear to the heart of Desna herself.
Desna looked down at Selaro and saw her precious serrated blade. As she slept, she wove a magic into the blade. When you need it, it will serve you A whisper in the night spoke over the metal and it glowed briefly. Selaro slept.
Taden's spellbook sat next to his bed, opened on the night table. She wove a spell into the book causing it to glow brightly for a moment while Taden slept. May this bring you the power of the gods when needed my sleeping friend
Over at the Cathedral she saw the gift given by Myra so thoughtlessly. She took the Emerald from the offering box and lifting Myra's simple holy symbol from her backpack, she enchanted it, infusing the emeralds power into the holy relic. This one will be extra special Desna thought to herself. It glowed a bright green and when it was finished an emerald sat in the middle of the symbol, it's light pulsing and fading. May this holy symbol give you the strength you need to conquer the enemy ahead
At the Rusty Dragon, Desna passed over Ariellyn while she slept. She took the bow she used for combat and wove a magic into it Aim true my good archer, take down your foe with the swiftness of the gods
To Welbry, she went over to his armor. A fighter must be able to block the fiercest blow and she wove a strength into the armor unseen by Welbry himself
Desna had one more stop to make. This one was also special. She knew that Grush was always worried about his appearance, but it was not his appearance she was going to change. No, he was far to beautiful and she would not dare. Instead she decided to give him the ability to decide that for himself. She looked around the room and spotted the Dragon Mask he had worn at the festival. Using her magic, she transformed this simple Head covering into a mighty helmet. The mask hummed with divine power and settled back down as a helmet of battle. She moved it over next to Grush's things and smiled at him as he snored loudly in his bed. Others would find this kind of snoring highly agitating, but she did not. Go now, mighty Orc, Destiny awaits

Subject: The Cathedral

Father Zantus set about cleaning up the mess of the onslaught. Had it not been for Myra's bravery, he thought, and the bravery of others, this would have ended badly. As it was, he and the other priests and priestesses were able to bandage and heal most of the wounded from the battle. There were, however, those to bury, and Gorvi's men hauled off goblin carcasses in wheelbarrows to be burned or dumped into the ocean. As evening came to a close, he returned to the Cathedral to pray.

Desna, watcher of travlers, I lift up this prayer to you. Please watch over young Myra and keep her safe. She is still young and although there is much power in her I ask that you do this, that you guide her with your wisdom

Later in the evening he was pleased to see Myra enter into the cathedral. She told him about her thoughts on the goblin raid and he agreed. There must be something else causing these goblins to be so bold .. in time, perhaps we will discover the truth When Myra held out an Emerald and also a ruby which she said was from Selaro, he knew it was a gift from the town. Although he hated to take such a valuable gift, he placed it in the offering box and held her close. You have such a good heart my child When she went to bed, he cried

Thats a good try .. but you don't know where the shopkeeper might be ... when you do you can GOTO the correct spot on the map (numbered in zork goodies link) But for now .. lets say you go EAST. Basically this is like a mud .. so think of the commands you would be able to use ..

West Sun Street, Wilshire

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
You pass through the gates and enter into the city. It is not a large city and you can see the town center and main fountain. To the north is a shop with a sign bearing the symbol of a blade. To the south is a shop bearing an armor symbol. The cobblestone is well worn here.

Subject: Selaro's Exchange

Das Korvat sat in his chair with a bottle of his favorite hard liquor and closed his eyes. The shop was closed after the fiasco with the goblins, but the traffic during the day previous to the raid had brought in some needed gold. As he sat, Selaro quietly opened the door and entered in. She holded a small pouch in her hand and called quietly. Das .. is it a good time. I wanted to make an offer to you. She removed a shiny Emerald from the pouch and held it in her hand.

At first when Das Korvat opened his eyes he seemed bothered and slightly angered by the intrusion, but the firelight sparkled on the emerald in Selaro's hand and his eyes widened. Where did you get that, girl? he barked. He stood up in his chair and began an accusation. I told you if yu does any stealin' around here yer gonna give me an even worse hic reputation than I already gots. hic

Selaro stepped back for a second but held her resolve. She explained that the Emerald was a reward and that she was interested in a trade for the serrated blade he had in the shop window. She would give him the emerald and let him sell her current weapon for 50% of the profit.

Das Korvat thought for a moment .. and then he quickly snatched the Emerald from Selaro's hand. He looked at it and sat back in the chair holding it tightly in his fist. Take it Das said .. and motioned to Selaro to leave. leave the other in it's place and we'll see if it sells

Selaro left Das Korvat to his drunken slumber and quietly made the exchange .. smiling as she held her new blade in her hand feeling it's balance and swiftness.

well ... Aldern Foxglove sighed it seems we have a split decision. For those of you who are interested please meet me outside the inn tomorrow morning and I will take you on a hunt you will never forget. For the rest of you, I do hope that you will visit my home in Magnimar the next time you pass that way.

Foxglove throws a small bag on the table . Here is a little reward for your efforts as well. For saving my life. It's not much but I will reward you properly if you pay me a visit sometime Aldern excuses himself from the table and climbs the stairs at the inn apparently heading to his room.

*NOTE* For those of you going on the boarhunt, you will write your next post for this evening up to the morning when you arrive to go. For those of you NOT going on the hunt, you will have 2 days here in town. You should post what you might want to do over those next 2 days in your next post(s)

As our heroes enter the inn the entire place grows quiet. Every eye turns to watch them as they enter in. After a moments quiet .. a shout comes out from somewhere in the back

Three cheers for the heroes of Sandpoint! Huzzah! Huzzah! HUZZAH!!

The crowd echoes their cheers and the entire Rusty Dragon is alive with excitement. A table is immediately cleared for the heroes and drinks brought out immediately. A rough looking barwench places teh glasses down on the table and barks On tha house

It isn't long before Aldern Foxglove shows up at the table. Seems you're more famous by the hour He motions to the group and asks if he can join the group. He moves to a en empty chair next to Selaro and sits down before anyone can give much of a response. I have an inviatation for you. Before I return to my townhouse in Magnimar in a few more days I was hoping to go on a boar hunt in nearby Tickwood. I would like nothing more than you have you all join me on this adventure. It would give us time to get to know each other some more. If it wasn't for you I would have surely been "goblined" to death and I must find a way to repay you properly. A boar hunt is a nobleman's tradition and of course I will cover all of the expenses. What do you say? He places one arm on the chair behind Selaro and waits for a response from everyone at the table.
